Low on space? (help please) - Droid Incredible General

The notification bar says low on space and under that it says phone storage is getting low. The sd card and the internal storage still have a lot of space left. can someone tell me what this means and how i can fix it?
P.S. the voice recognition on this thing is great .
EDIT: sorry i didn't look to see that there are other topics about this. I should have searched ( or looked through the first page lol). Please lock this thread.

Ota failed bc "not enough storage"

My friend tried to update his phone to gb, he said it downloaded and then it said not enough storage in his phone...does the update use the phones internal memory or sd card...any solutions? I feel a factory reset should work...he is completely stock

Delete a few hundred apps.
But seriously, look at his storage usage. I guess it's possible he filled his 8 gb internal memory...just not sure how. Try moving items to his sd.
Edit: now that I think about it, it may be the other way around. He may need to move items to his internal memory from his sd. Either way, find the full storage and clear some space.
He probably has WAY too many apps
Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated - i'll relay the info to him hopefully it'll work out at the end

[Q] "Storage space running out" - but I should have several free GB. Help?

Can someone help me figure out what's up with my storage space on my N7? I'm getting a notification saying "Storage space running out". According to this screenshot, I should have about 8.1 GB used. With 13.24 total that should leave me with about 5 GB free. Now I understand there are some other things that take up space, but how can that be over 4.5 GB's worth? Anyone have any ideas on what might be taking up all that space, and if there's anything I can do about it? I have a bunch of pinned documents on my Google drive, but they should be more than a few MB. I don't want to do a full reset and have to re-root and re-add all my apps and documents and media. I've tried rebooting a couple of times with no change. I can add any additional information that would be helpful.
I have the same problem, made a thread and no suggestions. Is this a hardware issue? I don't see any similar issues except for Nexus 7's.

I fixed it by formatting the internal sdcard through TWRP.
Thank for your solution, it works for me

For future reference, the flash usage reported in that image that you posted is not all inclusive, it only reports storage used by apps/music/videos/downloads, as it says. The reported free space should be correct though, but if you add up the usage that it shows it won't necessarily make sense with the free space that it reports because other things use storage that it is not reporting.

[Q] Manage Internal Storage

Well I have a quick question. After updating to the new JB build, I noticed that under the settings tab then storage, there is no longer then option to quickly transfer files from internal storage to SD card.
Does anyone know if there is another way to do this? Other than using a file manager, this feature will definitely be missed. I found it very useful to quickly move pictures, music, etc. without having to copy-paste in a file manager.
Or, does anyone know of an app that can mimic this?

I posted the method here

Dyelon,
I read through the linked thread but what I was looking for was to move personal data (such as pictures, music, downloaded content from browser) from the phones internal memory to the SD card quickly, not so much as moving app to SD. In ICS under settings > memory there was the option to manage internal storage and move items quickly:
(http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=63946) Look towards the bottom of this page.
Seems like after the update to JB its no longer an option.
But on a related note, thanks for the info on apps to sd!

This has been bugging the heck out of me! Hoping someone knows something I don't. I love the manage internal storage feature in ICS
The Link2SD method posted didn't work for my Razr M after trying many different times.

[Q] Little help please.

Hi guys, I just traded my HTC Wildfire for an HTC HD 2, it has Cyanogenmod 10 in it and my battery is just going down by the minute. In just 9 hours it is on 6% of the battery. Is there any way to save energy or something? And how do I turn off the animation on Cyanogenmod 10? I don't have the cyanogenmod tab under settings, so how do I do it?
9 to12 hours is normal. Just use your power control widget to shut off wifi, refresh, gps, when not in use. Keep screen brightness on auto.

Thank you, and is there any way to turn animation off? I've been searching everywhere, but no success.

You mean transition? Those are found under Settings -> developers options. Set them to 0 and animations are off.
Thank you so much! And one more question and I'm done: how do I expand my internal memory? I've heard of some programs but I couldn't find a detailed explanation about it.

Actually, there are many ways which confuse me as well (there are just too many and I'm too lazy to read about them).
But what I do know, is that if I wanted to have my sd-ext act as my internal memory I'd flash (DataOnExt) zip after flashing the rom.
There are also some apps that claim to give you additional storage by moving apps to sd, like Link2SD. (But personally, I never believed them nor used them).
You may have to do a search for yourself, you can use the link in my signature; it's an HD2 specific search, though you can google it, it is better to look in the HD2.
As Marvlesz said, Data2EXT and other similar flashable scripts should work perfectly well (provided you have an EXT partition on your SD of course). I've used Link2SD and it works fine, it actually creates a script which makes the system read your EXT partition as internal memory if I'm not mistaken. Either way, you're going to need a partitioned SD card.
Guys, i did all of that and it still has the icon on the notification bar that it is low on memory, doesn't want to install an app from Google Play, sometimes it doesn't even download it, I have no idea how to fix it, please help me.

Did you confirm that your internal memory has increased?
If yes, it is likely trying to tell you that your system partition is low on free space. Or, depending on the script used, you may still have your Dalvik cache in NAND where you may be short on space.

You're supposed to flash those scripts right after flashing the ROM, not after days of use. I don't think just when you get the "low on memory" thing, you flash a script and it works, no.
hey there,
sry for my bad enlish at the first.
-do off wi-fi
-display time out on 15 seconds
-display brightness not automatacly(?/ correct word ? ) reduce it on lowest level it is good for you
-when you doesnt data need do it off

Can´t move apps to SD card due to not true message “Not enough Space”.

Ok guys need some help from experts.
I am trying to move some apps from internal storage to my SD card, but during the app transfer I receive a message of not enough space for transfer. I have a 128 GB from SanDisk with 50% of free space. The game I am trying to move to SD card has more or less 800Mbytes of size. So I have much more space than the necessary.
Looking in the internet I found some users with similar problems and they solve it leaving the SD card with less than 32GB of free space since it seems that android has problems with more than 32 GB.
But I really want to believe there is a better solution since we a talking about Android 6.01 and S7 Edge.
Anyone knows a better solution for this?
Thanks
Eduardo
Have you tried it using apps?

What do you mean? Apps like app2SD ?
No I have not tried. I dont want to use an extra app to simply move my applications. It should be simple. But if there is no other way I will try.
Thanks
Eduardo
Sorry to revive this thread but I am just curious if you ever found a solution or did you use an app instead?
