I haven't upgraded to 2.13 TMO HD2 rom yet cuz 2.10 is tolerable for me so far. Just wondering for ppl who took the plunge to share you opinion whether it's worth it.
I see upside for 2.13 being integrated new Swype and less crashes. Downside being the loss of touch response, which may/may not be fixed by the stickied registry tweaks.
And seems like the only way to downgrade from 2.13 to 2.10 is to flash HSPL2/rom correct?
Don't Upgrade to 2.13!

i would recommend it but you'll of course be reading some mixed reviews. the two issues that i have been dealing with this is a slightly worse battery drain and touch sensitivity has decreased too much for my own tastes. however, there appear to be .cab fixes for the latter which seem to help, especially in my case.

I was skeptical at first because of the slow touch drivers. If you install 2.13 as well as both of the zim cabs in the Touch Response thread it's great. No more crashes. I also have CHT 1.8.5 installed along with it. Very happy. Before you update your ROM to 2.13 do a hard reset on your 2.10 ROM first. Then update the ROM. Then do one more hard reset after you upgrade to 2.13. After that run zims touch response cab. Then do a soft reset. Then install zims screen orientation cab. Then do one more soft reset. After that you should be happy.
If not, someone made a ROM that is the stock 2.13 with the 2.10 touch drivers, but you have to downgrade your SPL and then install HSPL. This will allow you to install any ROM that people make here. If you ever need to take it into TMob for warranty, you'll have to flash the stock ROM back on it and change the SPL back to the one that shipped on your phone. I haven't attempted to do this yet because I'm happy with my HD2 now.
I hope to get the courage to hack this phone and start messing with custom ROMS, but for now I'm chillin.

Hehe, i'm surprised you haven't read how, it gets answered daily and has done for a few months.
In teh tmous rom dev section, find the sticky thread 'test and stock roms' - in there find and download the 2.10.0 rom.
Connect your phone to PC, run the 2.10.0 exe file,
done.

Ah, I see, I didn't look in the dev forums. I've been reading those threads, and right now I have 2.10.1 rom. If I back up the files now, flash 2.13.0, and want to come back - I flash 2.10.1 rom and I should be able to get back the way it was correct? I see that the SPL gets upgraded from 2.08 to 2.10 when I upgrade to 2.13.0, but the 2.10.1 may not downgrade the SPL (unless I use 2.10.0)? Would that effect whether my backup will work or not?
I just want to make sure I get it back in one piece in case 2.13 doesn't work out for me.
Thanks.

the 2.10.1 in that thread doesnt contain an spl, and is in fact a repack, so your pphone sees it as a cooked rom, which is why i pointed you at 2.10.0 instead.
(if a downloaded rom comes as an .exe file, it is a true official release, , if it comes as a zip with customruu and an nbh file, it is a repack, even if the contents are an official rom, teh phone still needs hspl to install it)
Use 2.10.0 to get rid of spl 2.10.0000 (which is the stock spl from rom 2.13)
When you want to go back completely to stock, run hspl1024, choose spl 2.08.0000 then run the 2.13 .exe file from your pc to reset the rom, the radio and the spl to stock.
EDIT with hspl3 released this downgrade is no longer required.

What are the advantages to running both of Zims .cabs??? One increases sensitivity (pretty self explanatory), but what is with the screen orientation??
Sorry, I got on this phone when it was already pre-installed with 2.13.

the first one increases sensitivity and the second one enables a hidden option in the settings menu to align the screen.
His touchscreen cab works very well and I used it for some time, but if you want it to be perfect, you will also have to use the 2.10 drivers. I have made a rom that uses the 2.10 drivers and also the touchscreen cab and together they work wonders . look in my signature for the link

I'd love to fix the scrolling issue more than the sensitivity issue....my sensitivity is pretty good "as is". Honestly, since I started with 2.13 I wouldn't know the difference anyway. I think I'd like increased sensitivity (that's what SHE said....LOL) but I'm afraid if I changed it that I couldn't go back.
Also, do I need to install the first .cab just to see if screen scrolling gets fixed and hope for the results I'm looking for or would there be a way to go back?

Miri HD2 WM6.5.X (23545) ROM :: Sense 2.5 with Swype :: V 8.0
Is there a greater difference than the stock 1.66?
6.5.x has the (IMO rubbish) new buttons at the bottom - if you want stock looks then go for the WM6.5 version I've got on my sig...
Yes but in terms of performance and visual effects, is there really a big incentive as to switching to cooked ROMs?

Hi
Make sure you have the HSPL on your device before you try any cooked roms. Also there are SSPL, Goldcard available . You have to read the sticky threads before you try to flash. You are warned without above you might brick your device.
good luck
I think im gonna try the artemis 5.5. Good feedback on that? Yes ive done the app steps
quick tip - never use the sd card method to flash a phone, you're more likely to brick it or, worse, put an SPL that can't be rolled back. ALWAYS use HSPL and flash via ActiveSync/WMDC
KAV2010 keeps deleting HSPL as soon as I unzip it. Geez..
I flashed a cooked rom thru the Spl method. Now my phone is unable to boot. I am unable to perform hard rest. What should i do?

It depends on the ROM you have installed but is more like you have to install radio 2.08 or 2.07 the 2.10 roms are radio dependant.

How do I do that now that my phone cant boot?

If you've got HSPL on, just turn your phone off, battery out if necessary. Then replace battery, hold down volume down button and press the power button (end call). It will boot into bootloader, then you can use custom RUU to put another radio on, try 2.08.50.08_2 That is a guess as to the right radio, but might help you out.
PS Sternas says he uses 2.06.51.07 radio in his Artemis ROM, so try that one.
windows 6.5, 6.5.x
when you flash a rom does it matter for these?
what if you want 6.5.x but currently have 6.5?
how does that work?
which rom do you like for the t-mous hd2 and why?
which rom has the least bugs, good battery life, and fast?
6.5 is what u hav now, 6.5.x only differs from the start menu going from the top of the screen to the bottom of it alsowen dealin with the newer roms 6.5.x usaly has the most updated software.... now always keep in mind to research the info before making a new thread, the reason for this is because when u go into a cooked rom thread all the info u need and pictures of the rom is in the thread... and please read before u do anything to your device
but i was wondering, if you flash a 6.5.x rom onto your 6.5 after you hspl will it still work or will it brick?? im not really sure about the whole flashing thing yet it still confuses me

so to my understanding on flashing, you first hspl your phone then download your rom and radio first you flash radio then rom?
if you downgrade from 2.13 to 2.10.0 to hspl your phone, and you flash via micro sd, there isnt a possible way to brick your phone right? :/

doesnt really matter what order you flash them because you have a tmous, so the rom will work with any tmous radio, including the one already on your phone, and if there isnt a tmous radio on your phone then its already bricked
You probably learned that re: the normal leo, where the rom doesnt boot until the radio is flashed, but doesnt affect tmous.

Heh, theres always a chance, just like theres a chance you will fall over in the bathroom and break your neck whilst brushing your teeth, , , , , , hehe.
Make sure you have plenty of charge in your battery, and dont mess with it whilst its flashing, and it should be fine.

so whe i downgrade back to 2.10, you just install the rom right? and if your radio is 2.10 its fine right?
your radio should work fine with most of the roms that you install. If a particular rom requires a specific radio version 1 of 2 things will happen. 1) The chef will include it in the rom or 2) the chef will state the radio version needed as a recomendation. Sometimes a specific radio version will work better where as a different radio version may affect reception, battery life among other things. You can't however get whatever radio version you feel like because some radios are location specific (no need for a portuguese radio when you live in Chicago) Go to the XDA-Wiki and look for radios. They have a table explaining each radio version, it's carrier and it's location. Best of luck on journey through flashing. It is an exciting one.

go for it, you are flashing a tmous rom onto a tmous phone with a tmous radio 1 - included in the rom and 2 - already on the phone. It will alllll be fine.
Just wondering, what rom are you flashing? I understand your anxiety about flashing. Took me couple of months to get the courage to do so. I was afraid to brick my precious TP2.

I'm not sure that HSPL3 works with 3.14, so when I wanted to flash AthineOS v14. I went back to T-Mobile's site and grabbed the official ROM there. I was able to "downgrade" with no issues.
We always recommend a Task 29 when flashing a ROM, whether it's "official" or "cooked". Think of it as reformatting your hard drive before installing a new operating system. Spare bits can be left over after a new ROM is installed over an older one. These will manifest in strange fashions, causing issues that can't be duplicated by a twin phone running the same system.
So yes, you can downgrade if you want, without HSPL or Task 29. Whether you want to or not is up to you.
Yes you can indeed go straight back to 2.13 from 3.14. The leaked 3.14 does not overwrite HardSPL, so you can just straight up flash back to the official 2.13 update like normal.

Just for clarification: Any stock (official or leaked) ROM will overwrite your HSPL if you flash it via microSD. It will not do so if you flash via USB.
I would like to apologize for my first reply to this thread for implying that the HSPL would be overwritten for ANY type of flash and thanks to ashasaur for pointing out my mistake.
I have TMOUS HD2 - stock 2.13 ROM and have not hard-SPLed it yet. So everything is stock.
If I install the 3.14 ROM, would I still be hardSPL it in future if required?

....good question. I've never flashed flashed a rom via SDcard. You should try flashing from 3.14 to 3.13 and see if it removes hardspl. The worse that could happen is it go back to stock spl and just remove it via the hspl3 package.

If you flash from 3.13 to 3.14 or from 3.14 to 3.13 the hardspl will still be kept if flashed is done with a USB cord. I'm not sure if hspl will still be installed if done via sdcard, because I've done any flashing via SDcard. I play it safe and do everything from the USB cord and have had ZERO problem.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.
im using the 3.14 right now and the battery life is outstanding. 24 hours an d no issues yet, full 3G in fort worth all day.
Also everytime i have done any flashing, it was done through RUU and not one single issue yet. "crosses fingers"

Yes you should download from the Singapore page as the ROM at the HK site is for CHT whereas Singapore is either CHS or WWE.
I've have been running the HK 1.72.831.1 ROM for ages, then i decided to flash to this ROM, been using it for the last week, and for my HD2, this ROM is a pile of sh*t
issue's i've dicsovered so far
1. issues with launching video from album view, issues range from no video playback, to radio buttons disappear at bottom of screen....never had these issue wth 1.72.831.1 when playing the same videos
2. consumes lots of RAM ( 80-90 % ), compared to 1.72 ( 40-70ish% ), so much so that applications will fail, intermittant usage of opera for example.
It's a pitty, cause overall this ROM is much more responsive, and the radio seems more responsive too ( eg enable/disable wifi etc... )
Looks like i'll be rolling back to 1.72.831.1

Sir like mention almost everywhere; Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL!
You need to remove HSPL before installing stock ROM 3.14! If you don't do it the above mentioned problems are normal!

Hi,
I just wanna share my experience.I just flashed the Stock ROM after many times consideration. I felt that no increase in term of speed [I used to flash Energy as a benchmark of ROM speed ] I mean it was slower than any cooked ROM. So I decided to go back to Cooked ROM. Now, I am using Carnage HD v.4.2 which is faster than the stock ROM.
In flashing the stock ROM, I had to remove HSPL2 by way of running HSPL2 from my PC (Win XP Pro SP3) and choose SPL 1.66. I succeeded, then I flashed the stock ROM also from my PC.
In flashing back to Cooked ROM, I use SSPL. First attempt, my PC got crashed (BSOD), I wasnt sure the reason of which. The second attempt, I succeeded.
Now I have SPL 3.03 in my HD2. I read that few users reported that they can downgrade the SPL. I am not sure whether it is safe. I need time to think about it.

After I flashed this ROM to my phone, upgrading it to any Artemis ROM via SSPL would load HSPL 1.42 instead of 3.03. Also, I've had problems with Artemis ROMS after flashing to this stock ROM, such as stuck on HTC boot screen or soft reset becoming hard resets. Could it be a problem with the HSPL? How do I make sure that it loads HSPL 3.03 when flashing Artemis instead of 1.42?

Sir if you take some time to read the installation instructions on the Artemis Rom thread you will see that you need to remove HSPL if you used 3.14 stock Rom based Rom's.
HSPL isn't compatible with stock ROM 3.14!!

Both are possible (only be sure you flash the right stock Rom (related to your aria/branded/unbranded device)

I have never installed HSPL. All I have had are stock Roms. How do I remove HSPL? I've already done a stock rom reflash.
I was wondering if it was possible to install Android on the stock ROM 3.14 WWE (radio 2.15.50.14). I would like to install android without having to use HSPL because I'd like to keep the phone under warranty
Nahh
Tried doing that. My WM locked up totally. It would start, but NO 3'rd party progs worked. I could not uninstall, nor install.
The only thing that worked was to reset WM.
So i ran the HSPL part, upgraded WM to Dutty, upgraded the Radio, and Android ran smoothly.
I'm not sure if all WM's will lock up, but i only speak for my self.
Btw, my was stock Norwegian.
Good luck
It does work on the latest ROM (3.14). Plenty of people have had it working, me being one of them. It's definitely a good solution for those who don't want to have to upgrade HSPL in order to get a newer radio.
I've been always using Stock roms, and Android has always worked perfectly here.
Currently using 3.14 German Stock Rom + MDJ 1.7 Android room. working flawlessly.
stock orange rom
I am using a stock orange rom. I did HSPL3 and updated the radio to 2.14.50.04.
I went for the FroyoStone_Sense_V3.2 build, and have had no stability issues. I use this as my main phone and never revert back to winmo.
Like most I do suffer from data drops, but get around it by toggling airplane mode.
Hi, two seperate things here, you can run it on a stock rom see my sig, but you must install HSPL3.
Mines working just fine...
Didn't alter the WinMo ROM, radio, or even SPL. Just cut & pasta the Android ROM files to SD Card, and magic!

No, you don't need to install hspl. A radio version >2.08 is enough. Recent stock ROM has 2.15
having HSPL is safer .. I am running the Tmobile stock with hspl ,running Mdeejay Evo and works like a charm .
I don't see how having HSPL could possibly be any safer for running Android from your sd card, as Android doesn't use or touch your SPL at all. You are perfectly safe to run Android on a stock rom, as long as you have a X.XX.50.XX radio everything will be as if you were to run it on a cooked rom
