Evo in stock at Walmart as of 6-20-10 @ 9:00am - EVO 4G General

Just placed an order for mine and thought I'd pass on the news for those of you still looking for one. Available online only.

When all else fails...head to Walmart

I had to mingle with the dregs of society, but I gots me a EVO on order!

One-stop shop FTW!
The only place I know of that you can buy food, clothes, expensive electronics and get your vehicle serviced...all at the same time

peopleofwalmart.com

Yep, that's where I bought mine on the monday after launch, only place that had them in stock was the local walmart, and they had like five or six.i think that people forgot that they had them with nomail in rebate as well. Took like an hour and a half for them to figure out how to activate it, and I had to walk them through it, but we got 'er done!

Nice, I sell Cell phones at Wal-Mart. I push Android over everything else. People love seeing all the awesome stuff they can do. It kills me that AT&T's Android selection is terrible.
Too bad my store sells Verizon instead of Sprint though, I need to spread the Evo love.
Hearing it took them over an hour to activate a phone it makes me sad, I wish they would hire more people who know things about cell phones.

thats messed up.. if you get family plan then second evo is for 249 instead of 199 and no rebate nothing..

I don't see anywhere on the website a place order button on the evo page.

Navigate through the site hitting the links to the cell phone section, don't go directly to the evo 4g page.

Maybe a stupid question, but I assume you can purchase the Asurion insurance when you purchase at a non-sprint location?

Just to let you guys know

Sprint will not sell you the Epic unless its activated in store, so for you unboxers, take your cameras to the stores if you were planning an unboxing video
we'll see what the shack has to say about that
Why do they need to open my box and finger freak my new $500 phone just to activate it? Use the ESN# from the box and call it a day!

I believe Sprint mean it must be activated under a plan, not necessarily activating the phone itself. So if a person tries to come and buy one at full retail under no plan, they wont allow that.

Nope, the phone MUST be activated or it will not be sold, period lol. This is coming from an internal memo I received today
Quoted per memo "no cold sales allowed"
I don't mind them having to activate the phone on spot. It means that it will be usable more quickly.
But the dude at radioshack IS NOT going to be the one who opens the box and takes off the plastic etc. I will most likely go outside the store and take a moment to open it, then let them activate it.
My phone was sent to me with service.

Not from Sprint
talk to the rep explain your situation, sure they can make an exception for the commission they are getting
Activating it in store and a cold sale are two different things. Cold sale means it was sold to someone at full price and they don't have an account. You CAN however, sell the phone attached to someone's line, without actually turning the phone on.
One caveat, however: Good luck finding someone willing to do this for you. I know I wouldn't.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA......HAHAHA......HA....*cough*
That's funny. Like the commission is anything decent on one line. I have to do 50 activations a month, and my commission check is barely decent.
Not that you would want to pay full price from Sprint when Amazon has a better deal on the buyout price.
Yeah but I can walk into a Sprint store on launch day and buy one. Can't do that with Amazon. Tuesday is far enough away as it is

I dont think its any different at either of those places. I recall both places opening my phones during prior purchases. I went with a buddy of mine to best buy when he got his Evo and they actually updated it and told him they had to put a task killer on it before he could take it. Theres no way im letting the best buy mobile rep do that to my Epic

Radio Shack to sell Evo tomorrow for $99.00

I heard today from a guy at Radio Shack that i can bring in any working cell phone and get the Evo for $99. He said it was for upgrades and new accounts.
I was told the same thing but I was told it was only if you participate in their trade in program.

How's that work exactly? I'm already a Sprint customer. My girl is also on my plan. She has a moment that she doesn't love anymore.

This is exactly how it works. Any qualified 2 year upgrade + renewal or new 2 year activation (qualifying rate plan at least 69.99. And trade in any working cell phone gets you an evo for 99 bucks.
if nothing else, you could buy a 10 dollar unactivated prepaid and trade it in if you didnt have an old phone laying around.
Just added 2 new lines to my account last week and got them both for $99.00 a piece.
I bought both my Evo's for 99.99 each on Radio Shack online. Called Sprint and they waived my activation fees and I even got a 18% discount from my employeer. No rebate or hassle. Didn't need to turn anything in or nothing.

Is this something that they're advertising or do you have to call the store ahead of time? I ask because I was in a Radio Shack late yesterday, about to get one for an Xmas gift, and the associate never mentioned anything about this.
I'm going back if someone can help with details how they did this. My daughter wants a white one, I've got a couple old phones laying around and this would be a great savings!
Thanks!!!
UPDATE: Just looked at Radio Shack on line and the offer is valid 12/19 - 12/24, In Stores Only

Just got home from Radio Shack - got the phone for $99. As long as you bring in a phone that will boot up, they'll give you the $100 off. They also give you a Plantronics Explorer 240 bluetooth headset for free ($40 value).
Checked the OS version and it's showing 2.2.
Thanks for posting, just grabbed one for the wife for $99.........now she can leave mine alone. lol
I just bought one from Sprint Saturday... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Sprint wouldn't match so I'd have to cancel and reopen my account with Radioshack. Yuck, right after I rooted too! I called up Radioshack and the second time they told me my clamshell would get a lesser discount, not the full $100. Why they didn't mention that the first time I don't know. Best or Cheapest place to buy a new epic 4g?

My brother is due for an upgrade and he's new to android. I think the phone will be great for him. So I was wondering where is the best place to buy an epic? I'm looking in terms of price and deals. So far, the best deal I found was at radio shack where I can get one for $49 + tax w/ contract after trading any old working phone.

Are you sure? the radioshack employee told me that it was $149 for an upgrade, then take off $100 after trading in any old working phone, which would come to $49 + taxes...said that the promotion was going to end saturday, so I'm assuming it must've just started. Talked to two different radio shack stores just now. The first store that I called said that its for new contracts only. The second one I called said that upgrades were indeed eligible for the offer, and the first store I called didn't know what they were talking about. She even went on to say that she just recently did the same offer for an upgrading customer...so I don't know what to believe.
Well I manage a RadioShack, so I'm pretty sure that it is only for new activations. The store maybe able to add the $100 trade and save rebate but the store will charged back for it.

Don't hate the company because you left them or were terminated. Yes they do give a lot for iphone trade in but there is never a price drop for the iphone either. As far as love for other phones. A $100 trade in towards the epic to bring it down to $50 is pretty good. Love them our hate them you still get some of the best prices out there and employees who will go that extra mile for you instead of just clerking you out.

....Buuuuut...went to my local radioshack store. She took my cheap $20 virgin mobile phone, and rang up the epic under my brother's line. Kept ringing up to $198 after a couple tries, then she did something with the computer and it rang up to $98 after taxes...

Amazon Electronics Trade In

Hey guys, with the upcoming 3D coming out, I thought some of you may find this interesting. Amazon has an electronics trade in program where they will pay up to $187 for a white evo and $114.50 for a black evo. They won't pay actual cash, but will give you amazon credit (which if they sell the evo 3D, then who cares). I know you can probably sell it for more thru ebay, craigslist, etc, but for those who just want to get it done with, here's an option.
Here's a link to the evo page on amazon:

Now I am leaning towards the S II and it appears AT&T will have it but not so sure about Sprint. Plus on my Evo 4G, Wimax is great when I can get a decent signal, but keeping the connection has been a problem (e.g. in car or more than a few feet away from a window).
I had AT&T previously and never had any significant service issues. But I have no idea what type of HSPA+ speeds I'll get or if the connection holds any better than Wimax.
I will probably just wait until after the 3D and S II are both launched and see the reviews on performance.

On another note, I just checked the Amazon Trade In program on the 19th and the black EVO was valued at $209. It freaking dropped in price like a mofo. I guess it was a mistake or alot of peeps started trading them in already getting ready for the 3D.

when the evo dropped last year, Best Buy was selling the hero for $29 (the phone I had just paid over $150 for with an upgrade). talk about being sh**ted on (got hero in January, got Evo the day it released)
Not sure about phones, but I am planning on selling 2 of my old digital cameras I have laying around. Amazon cash is just as good as real cash in my house.
If you are planing to upgrade through sprint then I would do the Sprint upgrade program... If you are going with a different carrier then use amazon, eBay or craigslist ... my 2cents

Sprint requires your phone to be sent back in

So today, I was getting everything straight so we could transfer our number to AT&T. The reason we are switching is bcause Sprint has NO service at my house. I had talked to several reps from Sprint, all of which said that the Early Termination Fee would be waived since we did not have coverage. Well, today I found out that even having been told the ETF would be waived, me and my mother would be required to send our phones into Sprint or we would be charged. WTF?! They are going to charge us if we don't send back phones that WE payed for? One of them over a year ago! I think this is BS. I will fight it as long as I can. What do I need to tell them? I wasn't told this the first times I was told the ETF would be waived.. so I may go on that. Way to go Sprint though, piss u off even as were leaving.

Part of the contract deal is they "absorb" the difference of retail vs. the 2 or 1 year contract phone price. They should technically offer you a proration of that difference for each phone based on the remaining contract time.

Just call & ***** for one week. Hears how I got out of cantract last march (becuz of bs gps on froyo & 2.1) I called & *****ed *****ed some more an other day. Then one day I woke up with a hang over in a bad ass mood. I called them & told them I had nothing to do that day & it was raining out. And proceeded to tell them that if they did NOT resolve my problem on this call I would continue to waste there time & call them all day therefore over hours of them paying customer service to listen to my *****ing insted of them helping other customers which would equal more than my early termination fee. Rofl & it works on there 3rd call. Now I did not leave sprint I only wanted off contract cuz the way I see it sprint had there dam name printed on a phone that said it had gps & it did not work & the only reason I was on contract was because they subsidized the price of the phones. A phone with a defective piece of **** gps until gingerbread and custom rom over a year later.
So you could find some thing you don't like about the phone (a software bug) and focus on that. Maybe the sound on the camera in gb there no mute?
If you know how to ***** then you WILL get your way.

My phone cost over $600 to buy outright when I got it but I only paid $199 and signed a two year contract. So I'm sure someone feels that if I don't complete the contract they ought to get something back. Just sayin...
ETF is one thing to get out of, but part of the contract was that they would give you an expensive phone for cheap if you stay with them. You are leaving so they want their phone back. I say THEIR phone because the you are actually paying for the phone over the time of the contract's length.
Also, why did you wait so long to cancel when you had no coverage at your house? Didnt you check coverage BEFORE signing up with them? After all, it IS a lot of phone and you are getting into a legal contract.
Or... You could work them for a free Airave. Same thing here our house is a deadzone. The thing works great and I npw have full signal at home.
I'm also with sprint on this one. The entire point of the ETF is is to absorb the cost you caused them to incur when giving you the subsidy. Returning the phone seems like the right and reasonable thing to do if you they are going to waive the fee. Our phones are basically minicomputers now and are not cheap to us or the carriers.
OP, were you aware you had no service within the trial period? How about the airave?

If you bought it off of Craigslist they have absolutely no right to it politely tell them to die in a fire. As for the Airave you will probably have to send it back unless you were crazy enough to pay them for it (got mine for free) find a sprint retail store or ups it (ground is 5-7bucks most anywhere in the states).
I didn't see all that much about what other phones you have, but the ones bought from sprint at a reduced cost are subject to the etf.. Now if its been bought from eBay/Craigslist/ect. ect. I can only suggest you tell them to die in a fire, if that don't work give the folks at the executive customer service dept. a call 703-433-4401 (Consumerist)

I was gonna say you could always sell it and you might make a buck or two off it after the ETF, but then I remembered that they increased the ETF's not too long ago.
If you were lucky enough to get it before the increase you could pay the ETF and sell it on eBay/Craigslist or here on xda & still come out ahead .

this whole debacle sounds like a mix up and either the op or sprint is very confused. sprint DOES NOT require you to send in the hard ware if they cancel the etf. who even told you this op? they cant even do anything with the phone besides use it for parts or refurb it. 1 or 2 hundred dollars is less than a drop in the bucket when your last earnings report said you were down 5 bil. (im looking at you sprint)
i think they just want you to send back the airave.

I love that line. Next time I pissed off I'm going to tell some one to go die in a fire. Makes me chuckle
