Im about to start work on a new app/game for android, and I will be coming up on things that I have never worked with before (mainly the graphics). Im having a hard time deciding on what exactly i want to use for the graphics, whether 2d graphics with animations or opengl would be better. If i went the 2d route would i have to make sprites for everything or are there animations builtin to use? Also, if anyones interested in helping out with the project let me know.
Quick Mockup of UI, Not so sure of the main display yet, but i kinda like the first part.

Basically like the UI from Iron Man 2:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Which route would you go with processing graphics?
Thanks.
Rewrote OP post, bump.

I'm new here, lurking around for a week or two, anyways I have used every major mobile platform so I have many ideas to incorporate them into the Diamond/Windows Mobile.
One game I would really like to see on the Diamond is Crayon Physics or Physics on the iPhone. There's also a desktop version, I think.
Basically, it's a game based on physics using the accelerometer, or you can just use the screen. You have a stage set up where you have to get a round ball to reach a star/goal to proceed onto the next level. You draw on the screen to make your pathway, pass obstacles, and whatnot to get the goal.
Here's a picture:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So does any developer want to try this out? I have no developing skills at all, but if it's easy to learn then I would help out for free.
See the G-Sensor reference sticky post, there is an app EXACTLY as you want, with uses the accelerometer..... but isn't a game
I have been experimenting around with iPhone Webapps and they work amazingly well on my HTC Diamond. Infact, I use a few of them regularly. However, the screen isn't to big, which cramps some of the great features. It wouldn't be that hard to make a app that has a browser built in that would resize/warp the view to the point were it can be used very well. I am not very experienced in making apps such as this, but I do know enough to know that it wouldn't be that hard to do and would open up thousands of new 'apps' to lots of people. I have put together a hard picture of how things may come together below.

READ THROUGH THE "How to configure Android's *internal* taskkiller" THREAD AND UNDERSTAND IT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE VALUES
If anyone is looking into making a snappier more resource managed ROM or would like to mess around with memory management now that we're rooted take a look at this thread:
How to configure Android's *internal* taskkiller
Some people seem to be pretty happy with mods in this area so I'm sure it can be tweaked to make our phones better. Has anyone already been working on something like this?
Also here is one of the apps people are using to change the memory thresholds:

Ok i am coming up with a new set up icons that top my transparent home tab layout made by BIGnADAD.... i truly never know it takes soo much effort to create these. I am asking for someone help who could find the time to finish this project for me. I think its worth the while, but this is my own opinion.
If interested here is mockup of what some of the icons look like:

Im simply trying to find the most detailed icons i can for this project. so if interested please contact me. i will supply all the icons for you;

I really like this. I'm sure a little photoshopping and I'll get it looking good.
Yer would be great pic, just cam shot bit low res.
Ask and you shall receive
I worked on it a bit, but the source image was low-res, and I'm afraid I haven't leant how to perform miracles yet.
The above has been blured, the below is sharpened use which ever one you like better
Improved - Color correction
Really nice job, pretty cool background, cheers!
