I just got an htc dream from rogers but i was able to install the engineer spl. The phone was working until i flashed mlign hero rom, that's when i had no recovery so i tried several things like flash rec, and rom manager but those didn't work so I looked on xda and there was a post that told me about fastboot, it said to erase my current rom then flash a new one through fastboot it never worked so i have tried flashing a recovery image through fastboot and it still doesnt seem to install can someone please help me.

So... I was rooted using gfree method and had recovery 2.5.1.4 installed running the ice glacier rom. Then I decided i was going to upgrade to a gingerbread rom so I updated my rom manager and flashed the new CW 3.0.2.4 rom and now it wont boot into recovery. When I try to boot into recovery it shows the mytouch logo for a bit, the screen turns black and the phone reboots. I tried to flash the old recovery again but I get an error message saying: An error occurred while flashing your recovery. I can still flash CW 3.0.2.4 and CW 3.0.0.5 but both will not boot into recovery.
I also tried flashing the 3.0.2.4 recovery manually through fastboot flash recovery recovery.img but I still get the same problem. I couldn't find an active download link for the 2.5.1.4 recovery to try to flash manually so I don't know if it helps to do this.
I read on the forum somewhere to revert back to stock recovery using the stock PD15IMG IMG file and try again. This took me back to stock and I was able to boot into the stock recovery. Then i reran visionary for permroot again, deleted my clockworks folder from my sdcard and tried again, but the problem came back.... Mytouch logo then black screen then auto reboot.
My root access still works fine but I cant get into recovery to flash a new rom.... and now I am stuck on a stock rom. :[ After 6 hours of trying to fix the issue I'm still very confused.
Any help / suggestions would be appreciated Thanks.

Yes, from Hboot and from rom manager, but sometimes if i try from rom manager it will also hang at the white mytouch logo screen.
Update
Ok. So i have a partially functional recovery again i found the recovery image for 2.5.1.2 and flashed it using fastboot flash. I am now able to get into recovery again and install custom froyo roms, but every time i try to upgrade to a higher version like 3.0.0.5 or 3.0.2.5 no matter which method i use, I still get the same reboot while trying to get into recovery.
Please help. Thanks
i rooted my phone a couple of weeks ago using the one click method. ive been flashing different roms until i found the ginger yoshi rom it was all working great until i turned it off last night. this morning i turned it on and it would not come off of the green screen. it will not boot into recovery but it will boot into fastboot. ive tried taking my sd card out and sim card nothing worked. i havent changed anything about my radio i only rooted it then flashed the roms.
any suggestions?
please help this is urgent
will some one please help me instead of just reading this?
Have you tried flashing recovery again?
If you can only boot in to FastBoot, then try using the following link, try to flash using method described for FastBoot to try and flash your recovery again. Hopefully you can flash it again and boot into recovery, after booting into recovery you should be able to either flash the ROM again or if you took the precaution of creating a backup, you can restore it from there.
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-a-custom-recovery-to-an-android-phone-device/
I think you can use the same method to flash the rest of the ROM (i.e. the system.img, boot.img, etc) if you have a backup of course. But I'm no expert, so don't take my word for it, since I haven't tested it neither.
Hope this helps.
I had problems with myphone and someonehere advised me to flash the radio again, i did it and now it wont boot ican enter the bootloader options but no recovery or android booting ijust flashed the radio and everything was good no error iused the fastboot method icopied the radio.img(isearched after the one that i already haved on) copied it into the android sd foolder and fastboot flash radio etc ...... now i dont know why it dosent work and franklyim s eriosly thinkyng about flashing it backat its normal state please help me
You have no recovery? After flashing a radio it shouldn't wipe recovery but I have seen roms messed up. So via fastboot flash recovery than flash rom either through fastboot or your recovery

I cannot buy a phone just yet, can anyone help me out here. Problem is, i was trying to change the partition layout using the TPT method but the phone didn't boot properly so i tried the windows method and after flashing the original recovery, when the phone was restarted, it kept booting into the FTM mode. I tried to recover the IMEI (1channel.nvm) but that didn't work out as well....
Please any ideas? Modaco seems to be very useless when it comes to helping out members lol, so i thought there might be people here who can help me out?
Do you flashed the stock recovery with stock rom?
For what I can see, you only flashed the stock recovery (FTM), make sure you download the ZIP for stock recovery with stock rom.
I have searched everywhere and end up with the same problem every time I try to install a custom recovery. I try many different recoveries and only old TWRP recoveries will boot but will not allow me to flash roms. I was using a modified custom recovery for the longest and was the only one I've managed to use, it was 3.0.1 IIRC by kinglilrowrow. Using this recovery I could flash roms. Now I can't find this recovery anywhere. Currently I can only boot into recovery using First Aid from the forum but have not been able to flash any roms.
Finally was able to flash TWRP 3.0.2-2 not sure how it worked. Went back to stock recovery and oxygen rom then followed the same guide but it worked this time. All the info and files from XDA so big thanks to the site and developers.
Sounds like you where stuck on the old bootloader, which would explain why newer recoverys didn't want to boot. Should have been solved by updating to OxygenOS 3. ?
