SIP works with Fring but nothing else - Hero, G2 Touch General

I have an account an Rynga but i can't register on any SIP software for android. I've drive aSIP, Sipdroid amongst many others. While I was in London, I remember that Sipdroid worked.
But now in Karachi, after rooting my phone and currently on the latest VillainRom, I can not register with any software. Fring works perfectly when I can login (it's down several hours a day). I use Wifi to connect. The Rynga client works fine on PC as well.
I only need to make out-going calls. I tried using pbxes.org but despite much effort, I can't set it up. I get 2 green lights but one is greyed out, and the account fails to register on my android.
Very Frustrated

Can't get online on Universal, either by Wifi or when synced

Hi All,
Got myself a Dopod 900 (HTC Universal) a couple of weeks ago in Singapore, very pleased with it, luckily my pants have large pockets
But... I can't get online by WiFi. GPRS works well enough, but i'd rather not have to pay data fees when I can avoid it!
Anyway I can connect to several different wirelss networks with various access points and routers, but can't open any website or log onto MSN. Connection to the access point is fine, IP address is provided by DHCP, but it looks as if the DNS server is not (even manually specifying the server does not help). When I open IE, the status bar shows Locating.... for about 15 seconds then I get a connection lost error.
And it's the same even if I'm running activesync (I could get online on my XDAII this way)...
So, has anyone experienced something similar or can point me to the obvious configuration that I missed, I would be mucho grateful. 8)
Well this gets stranger and stranger... After installign pocket mechanic I could verify that the DHCP lease was working properly, IP, DNS and gateways are all assigned properly. But, still no IE, still no MSN. Installed agile messenger for the heck of it, and although it gives a lot of connection error in the beginning, I am able to get on MSN.
So, any thoughts? I did a hard reset already, to no avail...
Situation solved, sorta... Installed Opera, works flawlessly... Seems pocket IE just does not like me

It's not just you.. I have the same problems... (You can see my msg in the Universal forum.. Same **** as yours. PIE and MSN would not work as well as any other internal prg using PIE's engine someway or another.. Third pary networking prg work though, dns is fine, ping is fine, name resolving fine.. i don't likw opera and wonder if you solved this weird problem..
Also if you can tell me the list of today plugins and programs installed you have.. i want to see if there's a correlation between your situation to mine...
thanks,

Agile multi service messnger Free Beta w/ working PTT

Hey all. Downloaded and installed the new Agile messenger beta last night. Let me just say it is phenominal and no issues of button jacking. I assigned the voice command button as my PTT and chatted up my buddy at work who was offline at the time. When I got to work he told me he had received the voice msg loud and clear. I suggest you all grab it while it's still free and hold onto it for later reflashing. After I closed the app my VC button functioned as normal. Hats off for an outstanding product. I wonder what else the released version will have ?
http://agilemobile.com/downloads.html
Thanks!
My pleasure guttrhead. 4 different instant messengers all working at the same time. I can easily text one friend and send voice messages to others. I've only used over wifi so I cannot speak to cellular lines.
Thanks Farooq. (The original diseminator of information) I just beat him to the post. lololol
I installed it and everything went smoothly, but I cannot seem to connect to any of my messengers.can use the Instant Messaging Program that shipped iwth my MDA and that works fine. Any ideas?
Maybe your network selections ? I have mine set to only connect through a wifi connection.
Which button do you use as the push to talk?
I tried various buttons but it doesn't recognize it.
I have the Qtek 9000 Universal btw.

well i use my GPRS setting to connect my other instant messengers. Can this only be used if WiFI is present?
Should work either way, wifi or GPRS/EDGE. I only use the wifi as I'm near several AP's at work and two at home.
deleted dbl post, sorry.
I am using GPRS to connect.
I find the connection cut off or I should say the application stopped after a while of idle.
Can you guys suggest any method to keep the connection on for a long period of time.
thanks
There is a registry key that you have to change for that.
I find that I can get on agile when I have my cingular proxy enabled on my EDGE connection. When I use EDGE without the proxy it works great.
For those of you who are having trouble with GPRS, please try Vijay555's software.
http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJVolubilis
It allows you to create icons on the desktop so that you can toggle the GPRS on and off again. Also does Bluetooth, Wifi and others (I only use the 3 above). The instructions that you need to pay attention to is at the bottom of the page where instructions are available for you to put in a simple command to turn on/off the feature you want.
There's also another software out there that is a lot simpler which just turns on the GPRS:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=49839&highlight=gprs
Try that and see if Agile stays on by toggling the GPRS that way.
FYI, I'm using the vijay555 software. I like it. Always wanted to have icons on the desktop to turn features on and off.
Vijay555 - You're the greatest!
Hope that helps.
is this the version of agile messenger that disconnects the phone from the service operator (when you have to retype your pin and so on)?
the problem we had with the alpha-version...
I'm connected using WiFi but don't seem to be able to send any pictures (from my camera - MDA Pro).

I do not believe this error is present in the beta.
rats. doesn't work for me. just sits there at the google connect ans waits..... and waits..... and, you get the picture.
and hints on getting this working via gtalk?
i'm using a tmobile mda.
thanks.
PS.. how about an option to edit a created account? just being able to add/delete my not allow us to fine tune a defined connection.
mr skot,
as far as I know, t-mobile and google don't play well together.
I've and along with a bunch of others are having problems connecting to google via the T-mobile USA GPRS connection.
That might be the problem you're facing.
Supposedly T-mobile is looking into it.
But a forum member also mentioned that they've been looking into it for a long long time.
Clueless
Ok, so I am still trying to learn how to use the full potential of my MDA. I was told by TMobile that in order to use these applications that utilize the GPRS Network that I had to purchase full internet access that gave me access to GPRS. Is this true? I was under the assumption that GPRS access is included in baasic phone service...

T-mobile US proxy hosed?

I have a TyTN (originally ATT 8525 flashed to vanilla WM6.0) that I gave my wife a while ago. She had the T-Zones 5.99 internet up and running just fine a few months back, but wasn't really using it so we dropped the plan. We still used WiFi a bit, so I disabled the T-Mo connection. Now, I'm using the phone for myself and want to get T-Zones back, so I used Lurch's connection installer. When I try to use an Internet app (like PIE), I see that it's connecting, then it thinks for a while, and pulls up a HTTP ERROR: $CODE$. At first, it didn't have the proxy set up (I forgot that Lurch didn't do that, I guess), but even after fixing it and soft resetting, I get the same problem. Is there maybe something wrong with the proxy or some such?
try this cab..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395203
Actually, I tried that just before you posted, and it *did* fix my PIE issues. Unfortunately, I don't think Gmail IMAP is working, but I don't have my phone handy to double-check. I believe only traffic to/from port 80 (and maybe 8080?) is allowed, so secure IMAP probably won't ever work, right? It doesn't bug me too much -- since it's Gmail, I can always just use the browser (now that I have EDGE, that is).
i had gmail pop setup and working a couple months back.. now i cannot get it to work either
The connection should be set to work under Tmo Data and work to internet under proxy - and to work as prefersed connection under the e-mail account.
if you go to google and your account settings there is a tutorial under imap settings that will have you reconfigure your email settings on your phone manually. it fixed mine immediately.

Nimbuzz or Fring Possible?

Hi,
I need to install either Fring or Nimbuzz on my HTC Touch Pro 2 so that I can receive VOIP calls. I installed fring, however it is unable to connect to WLAN. I turned off all the security on my router and it still couldn't connect, so I'm guessing that fring does not yet support this phone.
The touch pro 2 was not found in the list of Nimbuzz's supported phones either. Has anyone managed to get this phone to work with either Fring or Nimbuzz? If not does anyone know of a suitable alternative?
Nimbuzz
Hi Darrenultra.
I have Nimbuzz working fine. Haven't had a chance to test VoIP calls though.
I have Fring working and VoIP configured too on 3G as well as WiFi. No probs.
Fring is what I would really like to get working ....glad to see that it is possible.
Did you download Fring directly to your phone by visiting www.fring.com/cab? Or did you do it some other way? I'm wondering if I maybe there are more than one Windows Mobile versions.
Fring seemed to install fine for me. However it is unable to find either my Wifi connection, or that of my neighbours. Instead when I try and start Fring I get a screen which says:
'Please Select Connection
Search for WLAN...'
However no WLAN is ever found. Any suggestions as to where I'm going wrong will be most welcome.
...there is one other thing that I forgot to mention.
I'm a bit worried that even when I do get fring working it is going to encounter some problems. The Touch Pro 2 tends to go into standby mode after sitting around for a minute or so. Will it still be possible for me to receive incoming calls on fring when it is in standby?
Any ideas?
I guess you must have tried the standard route of un-installing Fring and then soft reset and then re-installing Fring?
I would say turn your wifi on, launch Pocket IE. Go to fring.com and download the cab file directly. Install it. It will (should) sense the WiFi connection and take you further.
Hope this helps.

I've got the same problem... I guess just have to wait for updated version of fring before wifi issue can be solved.
I removed Nimbuzz because I found it chewed through my battery - it was insane. I could get through 1.5 days on a charge, but with Nimbuzz, I'd be looking for a powerpoint by midday on day 1. Love the app but not at that cost!
go to nimbuzz web site.choose your phone az touch pro..it work fine on pro2.no screen size problem..bud i didn't use VOIP calls yet.
I installed fring v3.35.3.248, works well... give it a try... http://www.fring.com/versions/#Windows

any working SIP Client

Retail USA 10.1 ver 3.1
anyone has success for sip client
I tried few clients like CSipsimple , Sipdroid and voip by antisip
It will connect for few seconds then drops the connection. I am not sure but like in G2x phone it worked with data plan only not with Wifi.
I am using GrooVe IP which connects to your google voice account. You have to pay for it but it works I think worth the money. Not sure exactly how it works, but it rings before my cellphone rings.
I also installed it on my phone and the GrooVe IP rings a good second or more before the normal forwarding comes through.
I was trying not to use Google Voice and use our corporate VoIP (which is Asterisk server) , which has my extension and so on.
Thanks
I've had sipdroid installed for a while and haven't ran in to any issues with it. I'd suggest checking the various configuration settings and making sure it isn't something with your specific setup.
Another thing to watch for is the WiFi sleep policy, and make sure that the wifi isn't disconnecting once you put the tablet to sleep (though if it disconnects while the screen is still on that likely isn't the issue you are running in to).
this time Sipdroid worked,
what I did was just use one audio codes and made other one to never use.
I tried with PCMA , GSM and speex they all by itself worked. (of course we have those on server side)
