Without using a new ROM I want to try to remove sense. Do I have to find the .apk's? I'm a total newb at this stuff. I removed the homescreen using the adb that someone posted. I still see "htc sense" in my processes though.
hoban_eris has a script in his Tainted Vanilla thread that will make any sense-based ROM "mostly" Sense-less (i.e., it's still "tainted)

If you don't like sense, might I recommend trying a cyanogen rom, like eris lightingbolt 2.5. It a great rom, very fast and just about everything works. I think there still an issue with out going mms.

I'm looking to remove sense completely from Evil Eris, even though it's a sense based ROM lol I realize that I could just switch to another ROM and it would be much easier but I'm trying to learn.

Haven't used Evil Eris so don't know if this applies to yours or not, but on many sense roms, goto
menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications -> HTC Sense -> clear defaults
Now when you click the home button it will give the option of using sense or home. Check default and choose home.

i got the impression, that he wanted to remove sense so jit would work, not to switch launchers
depending on how much of the HTC apps you want removed you can get rid of up-to the below list of apps (make sure to also remove the odex files which a number of the zip flashes do not do as with out the apk they are useless)
In the list below some of the apps are dependent on each other so if you remove one and not the other you will get errors or incomplete functionality. Hope this helps and complete a nand backup BEFORE playing

Trying to learn what exactly? There are much easier ways to learn rom making. If you're just trying to learn how to remove sense, why reinvent the wheel? Just start with a senseless rom and you're good to go. As for learning rom making, just take a stab and flash it! I'd be happy to give you tips in a pm if you get stuck (especially with the update scripts, those can be tricky).

I need help how to get swap working on AOKP ics rom?
I make 256mb swap on Recovery and I believe about 6 months that I have swap but yesterday I check it on Terminal emulator command free and Swap line shows 0 0 0.
AOKP is good rom but without swap every hard games and some apps crash.
u need 07swapon init.d script for swap to work
