Is it possible to rotate the screen right? - XPERIA X10 General

I would like to rotate the phone so that the volume buttons are down and the power/audio plug it to the right. So far I've only been able to rotate to the left. When I have it rotated to the left, the power cable comes to close to the steering wheel in my car.
For much the same reason, I would like to rotate the display upside down, I need the cables in the bottom of the phone.

once we have root, we will be able to rotate 360 degree's in custom roms, for now you are out of luck

Remapping the power button

In the camera and videoplayer app the power button acts as a screen locker... You can still see the dipsplay but the touchscreen is not responding anymore until you press the power button again.
Is this expandable to other apps? Most preferably navigation apps. When driving the bike I usually have the phone in my pocket, so when navigating on the bike taking it in and out of my pocket often makes me press something.
Locking the screen would be perfect (maybe also for other apps).
I looked at Tasker but weren't able to find anything there... any other options?

How to properly hold the SGT in landscape mode.

Feel free to just "duhh" my post but I just noticed that I've always been holding my tab in what I believe is the wrong position, when in landscape mode. The correct position should be with the soft buttons on your left (of course if you are right handed). This way you will avoid to hit the buttons with the fat part of your hand when holding it with one hand only. It's also easier to use the soft buttons with your left hands, which is free.
You can start flaming me now
Well, I am right handed and I hold it in my left hand with the soft buttons on the right.
But then when I use the phone I hold it in the left hand with the soft buttons at the top, speakers near my ear and the screen against my cheek.
My problem is I keep covering the camera with my left forefinger and knocking the auto light control out of whack, lol
i am right handed. hold it in the left hand with soft buttons on the right.
so you dont cover the light sensor.
Im right handed, so in landscape mode the buttons on the right, in portrait mode the buttons at the bottom, i dont hold the phone up to my face for calls because you look like a retard, i use headphones or headset

Click to collapse
aleluya!! you are right!
If you're holding it with the soft buttons on the left, then you are playing angry birds upside down and you'll never win.
Seriously, if i hold it with my right hand, i wedge it in my palm and put my thumb on the top right edge.
Most of the time it's in landscape though my zenus case kickstand is holding it up, not me.

Q - Volume Buttons Broken

So I dropped my phone and the volume buttons semi-broke. They don't respond to normal presses but do occasionally react if I press hard enough (so obviously not fully broken). Does anyone know more about how the volume keys work and a possible fix?
I had the same problem. I opened mine (various guides out there, Google it) and put two small pieces of folded paper (to get the right thickness), under the button area. It works fine since.
Thanks a lot.
I just figured out If i press closer to the middle of the rocker it'll pop up more easily so I can at least adjust on screen.

disable capacitive keys and enable on screen navigation keys sm-p585

Hi,
I was wondering if you could disable capacitive buttons and have on screen buttons (that don't cover the apps) on this device without root? I have heard the buttons get pressed accidentally.
Thanks
I want the same thing. because I always bumping the taskview button. I even rotated the display and use the tablet upside down ,so the buttons at the top. and I still bump it sometimes...

Locked screen Android swm 8802 HU

Installed an Android swm 8802-everything works fine; sound, bluetooth, radio, etc., but I am only able to do anything with the remote, and it is limited to four 'modes', I can't get to settings with the remote. The touch screen is totally locked, right from startup. After the logo screen, a message appears at the top of the screen with a locked padlock icon and the words "App Permission". Then the message leaves and it loads to the home screen, but the locked padlock icon stays in the upper left and the touch screen is still locked, nothing works. The four buttons on the side all work (back, home, recent, and volume knob), and the pinhole reset button works too, and the USB, just no touch functions. I have tried reset alone and together with every combination on the side buttons, tried re-installing the whole HU, no luck. If there is an Android ROM to flash to it I am willing to try that after I hear from the seller. I have a Support request into the seller, but they're in China. Any suggestions out there? Besides buying a name brand one locally, lol!!
Update: The touch screen is bad, the ribbon connection at the bottom of the screen that attaches to the face has come off. Anybody know how to reattach it? I tried lining up all the leads as best as I could and taping it in place, but no luck. Some sort of conductive glue?

Look up how to connect a ribbon cable to board. There's a little clamp that pops up. Slide the cable back in and press the clamp down
