Hey I hope this isn't a repeat question but I did search. I was wondering if thee was a way to organize the menu on the evo like we could do back with wm? Make folders etc.
Thanks
P.s. I wasn't sure if this belonged here or q and a. Sorry if wrong section.

You can make make folders on the home screen
Long press home screen > select folder but that's about it.
Can't customize the the pop up menu.
Try something like "apps organizer" (free).
I never use the main launch button any more.
Ok thanks for the info, will look at that app. I was trying to customize the pop up menu...

Can you hide apps you don't use?
I think you need to use a separate app for that.

In advance Thanks
Start menu?
Do you mean homescreen, program menu, or programs that automatically start when you turn the phone on?
Windows has a start menu!
hehe, I'm a old windows user
I mean program menu

Probably have to uninstall the app to remove its icon.
Or install something like 'Apps organizer' to group together apps with tags.
is there not other way to remove icones
(ex. I use handcent sms, so it would be nice to remove the pre installed sms icon from the program menu)
Why even use the program menu?
Create your shortcut to Handcent SMS.
I just have the programs I actually use on the homescreen, e.g. handcent sms. The program menu will show all installed apps so it can get a bit messy there and I don't know of a way to fix that.
drag the icon into the trash bin. when you press and hold the icon, drag it to the menu tray. it will get it off your homescreen.
Because your an x Window user like myself im guessing you want to organise your apps in the apps menu because its getting messy as there are loads just in one long list!
Unlike in windows where you could organise them into seperate folders for example: Games, Tools, Media etc.
If this is your issue its something i looked into when i first started using Android. As yet ive not seen a solution.
There is an app that does some sort of tidying maybe it was mentioned in this thread.
If im on the wrong lines just ignore me!!

I don't get it.
I just installed Apps Organizer.
Whats the difference between this and using Folders?
There is no app that organizes the app drawer.
AppsOrganizer helps organize them on homescreen(s).
I recall an app when I had my G1 that created folders in the app drawer. Launcher2? I think?
Maybe someone else knows.

That'd be pretty sweet.
Abc Organizer:
1. You can assign icons to your "folders"
2. You can back up your "folder" configuration to your SD card
3. You can customize the sorting of the app shortcuts, like most used first (on top), last used first, alpha
That's about all I can think of at the moment. It's not that great if you have a simple config and don't mind folder icons on your desktop.
Apps Organizer, I believe, is similar, but doesn't have contacts/direct dial or url support.
What I really want is when i press the program menu button, at the bottom in the home screen. That I come to a organized menu with my favorites at the top and some programs organized in the sub menus.
Is there no way to make this happen?

Correct. As far as I know, this is not possible.
I too wish it was possible, because I would love that feature. I don't need things like Amazon MP3 sitting there being useless and taking up space.

I beleive a home replacement app called dxtop can do what you want. Not sure about the other ones.

Once your apps are tagged, you can create shortcuts to app-organizer tags (folders). If you tag more apps they automatically appear in that tag folder, same with uninstalling.
Other benifits include:
1) tag one program with multiple tags (labels), ex: tools, gps. This will make the icon appear in both folders.
2) long pressing on an icon in a app-organizer folder gives you options to change labels and uninstall.
3) new applications go into a default "other apps" folder, so you don't have to hunt for them later.

Excuse me about my ignorance... its been one hour im going through the menus and it started to pissing me off....
i somehow disabled the phone icon on the ADW launcher. Anyone can tell me how to enable it again?
dialer icon more correctly
You should be able to drag and drop the icon to the dock.

not sure wat ur talkin about but i think if u hold down on ur desktop... pick activity...create custom shortcut... click activities... scroll down to dialer. let me know if ur talkin about something else.
Thanks for your replies.
See Screenshot below to see for which icon im talking.
so are u saying its missing from that certain spot? or just missing in general? or missing from the app drawer?
Missing from the certain spot.
It was there yesterday, i was playing with the menus/options and i probably disabled it by mistake probably.
Thanks for the help. Plenty of key words in your replies to sort it out.
Just reseted ADW and its fixed.
Dont know if theres an option to enable or disable it but reseting fixed it.
Hi, there's an option to turn the left and right softkey on and off in the ADW setting.
I can't create screenshots but try to explain it briefly here (it's simple) although you have reset it, it may benefit others who come across the same problem.
so in ADW settings..
> Interface Settings
there's a Turn On/Off Left Action Button option.
check it to have the phone icon on, uncheck to take it away.
Effectively you can disable to right action button (web browser) as well.
You can also turn on two more extra button as well, but haven't had time to figure out how to set the shortcuts... only have 2 blank keys theres at the mo.
Sorry for, if there're, any inaccurate labelling as I have mine in T.Chinese so not sure what the exact English labels are... shoudn't be far off though.
Hope it helps~
Hey, is me again!
Was just having a quick mess around and found out is as easy as just drag the icon to those empty button areas, that's all !! And i was trying long presses and going through many pages of menu options!! ha-ha

Is there any way to get a widget to show up in launch menu?
Or maby how to make a "shortcut" to the widget to make it show up in the program menu as a regular program. I guess i would be able to "select" it in the long press search button launch menu.
Maby someone know of an application that does the same as the "total silence" widget. That will say, turn off ALL sound when executed without asking any questions and then set all soundsettings back to previous setting when run again?
Widgets arent meant to be launched like apps..

hey guys please please idk what happened but i accidently dragged an app over the main menu icon on my HD2 android.. and now i have no way of getting to main menu...any help please???
By main menu, I assume you mean the app drawer. If that's the case, then long-press a blank spot on your homescreen, choose shortcut (or maybe it's custom shortcut, cant remember for sure). Then choose 'launcher actions' and then choose 'all aplications'. At least that's how it's done in adw launcher. Then you can just drop that shortcut icon back down into your dock where it belongs

oh thanks a lot mate! but i just deleted everything i had on my phone, and the droid started from scratch. thanks anyway! peace
Also worth noting that with adw launcher (in typhoon for example) swiping down (or is it up, i forget and have disabled it now) on the homescreen shows/hides the whole menu bar at bottom. I wiped data Few weeks ago thinking id lost my whole launcher.
As for just the one shortcut, press and hold the one you mistakenly dropped there and choose edit, pick activity, activities, open/close app drawer.
Before anyone asks, yes I did search this topic on the forums Is there any way to disable the action of double tapping the home button?
it's in application settings, and at the bottom of the list there is none, also:
wrong fourm, go to q & a.

Oh, I'm sorry. If you have ti backup, try making the double tap home point to something you dont use like news, then freeze that app in ti.
Someone posted a way to make double tap home do anything you want by editting build.prop. Maybe you can tweak that to get it to do nothing.
Piece of cake!
How to do this, on froyo.
1) Download SQLite editor free from market.
2) Open it, and scroll down to the Storage Settings(the last one with: com.motorola.android.providers.settings) -> settings.db -> settings
4) Scroll down to double_tap(3rd from the end), edit record and change the value to empty!
100% tested/working!
