hello, im from Argentina.
i had Xperia x2 for 1 week and i love it!
but i have this problem, the sms tones just reproduce 1 or 3 seconds and cut! :S Please help me. I saw for the forum but I do not find a solution.
And i have another problem, the video playback are very slow, lag! i test many formats but I continue with the same result.
Sorry for my english!
you can always just change the notification sound start>settings>sounds notifications> and change properties for "new text message" under the notifications tab. I too have had problems with the slideview video player which acts laggy and slow my best recommendation for that is to just download and use tcpmp, your can find a good version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951. good luck

Hi ppc users and enthusiasts, i have a question that nobody has posted i thing, i have bem looking around xda and i didn't managed to get an answer. My Qtek S110 Jam_12.1_PTB doesn't acept no wav, mp3 or wma files as alarm tone altough i can use them as ringtone or anything else, yes, i can find and select the sound in the alarm select menu but it always goes to the Ring -Default-
Thanks for the help in advance as i know you guys can solve my and other people problem.Sorry my bad english

Try some software that overtake the system default alarm handling and see if it works for you
Wav,Mp3 Wma in Alarms
Thanks, but actually i already instaled spb time which is the best for the simple task of alarming me to wake up. I really want to know why this stupid phone doesn't support mp3 and other formats in alarms, the audio codecs are the same to the whole system but why dont they work Rrrrrrr!
Does anyone wakes up with the alarm sound that it makes? or... as my self, wakes up with the vibration of the phone... i really don't get it...
Blame microsoft... just another thing i forgot to mention is that the screen should blink but it doesnt. why? i already hard reseted the phone, changed soft. version 1.11; 1.12.05; 1.12.10 WWW-PTB, nothing it just simply doesnt react. what i really wanted was a reg change to make it work, if the device uses a .dll to control the audio codecs it may be changed by reg and so we people dont have to give away another 10-20 bucks for a thing that should work from the begining. Help?
I'm probably plain stupid cause the alarm files are all wav & I can't think of any reason why the magician wouldn't accept them as an alarm tone. & surprise surprise it does actually work on my magician with 1.13 WWE rom. Tested with an own recording. MP3 didn't work with alarm, but does work on reminders, message reception etc. WMA not tested.
Cheers, M
Put that limitation down as something that would have improved with HTC Prophet
how do use mp3 as tones for messages? i tried moving mp3 to windows directory but i can find it in tones...
Hi nm8,
Does WindowsMediaPlayer play these mp3's? If not you have to get them in a format WMP can recognize, otherwise it won't work.
M

Hi Guys
For some reason all of a sudden my ring tone changed to windows default tune, when I go to the phone settings and change it to another tone on pressing ok it automatically changes back to windows default
Any Ideas
Thanks
Simon.
did you install Pocketmusic Player or any other 3'rd party music player ?
if you did then remove the associate files with it from options and you should be able to use your ringtones normally again,
windows plays the ringtones via mediaplayer (typical microsoft)
p.s. hi all I'm new here been lurking for a while since I got my tytn (love it) just been too busy to register, love the forums.
I know this is old, but I did a search and just ran into the same problem the OP did.
Just installed GS Player and had it associate all the MP3's, WAVs etc... then I decided I didn't like it, cuz MortPlayer was better, so I uninstalled it and all my assigned ringtones went to the default Windows ringtone.
This site rocks!
Glad we can help ^_^ we do have a nice community here.
thanks guys, it helped!

Search google for a mp3-wav converter, cant remember which one i use but will update post when i get home and check.
Remember also a mp3 song converted to wav form will be a very BIG file, better to sample just a small ( very small ) section of the track and then use this for sms notifications.
There is a program called phonealarm that you can use, you can choose any sound you like for SMS.
First post....hello everybody.

I use Audacity (free) to edit MP3 first by selecting the part of the song or clip I want to use as a alert. Then you can remove one channel (right or left) which cuts down the size quite a bit. As far as I know all PPC speakers are MONO so there is no need for a stereo ring-tone or SMS alert. You can also change the bit rate but don't go to low or your sound will be distorted. Audacity also allows you to adjust the volume of the output alert so you can have a nice loud sound and attract allot of attention when you pull your phone out. LOL.
Also Remember that a SMS alert is (I think) shorter than a ring tone alert. (ring tone alert is between 30 and 35 seconds) I wont get my 8525 till Monday but I have a E-TEN M600 and I believe the length of the SMS is the same as the 8525/Tytn.
One thing to note: you can mute a ring-tone when someone calls but I have not found a way to mute or stop a SMS alert when it comes in.
After you have the perfect RT/SMS alert as a MP3 find a free app out there that will convert it to a .wav. I use a app that came with Nero.
You can also try Ringo. This is a app that will allow you to assign a different sound to any incoming sms message.
ie. I get a traffic update via SMS everyday before I go to work and I assigned the sound of tires screeching and horns blowing impatiently as my SMS traffic alert.
UPDATE - Since this problem does not happen on firmware r1a i started cooking and after many cooked roms/oem packages mixing i found the file that is the cause for the problems i described here!!!
The new r2a HTCSrcFlt3.dll on the windows folder has some kind of bug that makes the media panel with some mp3 completely useless.
This mp3 is the perfect example. Anyone with a r2a original rom will have problems playing it. The panel will lag and if you forward the music to about 40min it will stutter !!
http://rapidshare.com/files/202091733/01-armin_van_buuren-76-int.rar
Replacing the HTCSrcFlt3.dll with the original r1a version the media panel no longer lags !! Perfect.
I hope it helps someone here that noticed what i described here.

Hi guys. I have with me a xperia with r2a firmware.
I have found that the media panel has some big problems. I have made 3 videos showing off that while playing a simple mp3 the interface becomes very very slow for about 1 min. If i pause the music it starts working ok. If i wait for about 1min the media panel starts working ok again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVkzyU4n89I
Of course smt is very wrong here with the cpu usage. almost 90% cpu ?????? you can see that on the second video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnySXqS_P8Q
The 3rd video shows of a bug that makes the app crash needing a reset
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ85U_mBO7k
I know that i can use 3rd app for listening to music but why can't just things work ok out of the box especially for a phone of this price ??
I'm i alone on this ???
All video are uploaded. Look at the second one for a better idea of what's happening.
i forgot to say that the crash happen mostly with big/long mp3 tracks
Can someone please test if the same happens ??
thank you all
just to say that i've email SE with this problem and i'm awainting response.
In the mean time, nobody else took 5 min to test if you have the same problem ??
thank you
You posted 4x in a row, why not 1 post and 3 edits?
My media panel has no problem at all. Did you try the R1A media panel yet?
I'm thinking either you've got bad media file you're trying to play, or there's something not entirely right with your software. A hard reset is always a great way to start.
thank you for your reply but it's not a bad media file. hard reset , clean reset you name it !
I've tryed pocketplayer and i have no high cpu problem. I think it's sad for this kind of phone. Also the a2dp bug reported by other user is not comfortable.
For your own test, you have here one of the media files that gives me problems.

Please, someone, explain why is this mp3 so special to make the media panel very slow/crash.
Thank you all

I could say "because it's 170MB and the music sucks" but that would not make things easier
I can't download your file due to a slow internet connection but I have 3 concert MP3 files on my phone, each has 200 - 300MB and I never had such problems with them. The player never crashed and never stopped. So it could really be the file itself (bad bitrate maybe?) or some software issue on you phone.
Sorry for cannot help you more.

Same file on HD - Cpu usage + streaming over bluetooth.
guys, after reflashing the rom to r1a version the problem does not appear, the media panel no longer crashes/lags.
But here comes a very cool thing.
I've tested the r2a rom with the old media panel and the problem still exits so i've reflashed the r1a rom but installed at the end the r2a media panel, an it almost works perfectly (still crashes when trying to see some mp3 info)but FINALLY no more lags. So after all it's some file that was changed on the r2a rom that causes the problem.
I would appreciate some help trying to find what is the cause/file(s) that is causing the media panel to work very bad on the r2a rom !!
Any one ?? Thank you !!!
Hi, I apologise if there were repeated post of this..but I cant seem to find it..
Anyway.. is any1 experiencing sms alert problems? ie. the music will not go away even after unlocking the screen and reading the sms. it only ends after the whole song.
Assistance will be very much appreciated. Thankies!
You need to trim down the file. Your notification is a whole song so thats what it plays. Use mp3 trimmer or google it.
