HardSPL and official ROM upgrade - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Hi,
This is a newbie question. I bought a second hand Cruise running 6.0. I could not find the official rom upgrade to 6.1 but have since discovered the device was originally from Singapore and have found it on the HTC Singapore site.
I have already installed HardSPL as I was going to try some of the ROMs here. Will the official upgrade work with HardSPL?
I don't want to just try and see and would appreciate some advice before going any further.
EDIT
Ok worked it out. All went well

Hi could you tell me how you installed hard SPL? And where you found the ROM. Thanks.

this may be a bit late. I found the rom on the singapor htc website. I just typed in my serial number.
as to hspl i followed the guide

MDA Vario ROM

Hi guys
Just a quick question and I hope you guys can answer me.
I have got the MDA Vario with T-Mobile and have upgraded the ROM to 2.17.7.2 WWE (this is the Qtek Rom) and it works just great.
My question is, however, can I downgrade this ROM to the original T-Mobile ROM it came with?
I am wondering since I want to send the phone back to T-Mobile but am worried if they see I have upgraded it they will not take it back.
Please help.
Thanks kindly
You'll need to use lokiwiz to unlock the device and then reinstall the opriginal ROM. As you have an AKU2 ROM you'll need to downgrade the ROm first to an old custom QTEk ROM and then run lokiwiz to unlock then re-install the ROM. There s along post on this forum or the upgrade forum on how to do this. There are alos posts re putting the device back into it's original state if you need to ship it back to a vendor - can't find them just now but would suggest you trawl the forums... painful though it may be
Hey thanks loads. I have looked around to try and find how to restore everything but can't find it yet. I'll carry on looking but if you can suddenly remember where they are I'd appreciate it
Also, do I have to downgrade the QTek ROM first, or can I just install the T-Mobile ROM straight away?
Thanks again

Does it matter that the link above looks like it is for US? I have UK T-Mobile
DaveyG th solution is explained at http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...IBwAAABi/2UG&bcsi_scan_filename=viewtopic.php
If you want a TMo UK ROM got ot the TMo UK Site http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/mdas.html
Thanks JoninLA, the phone is unlocked using Loki already as that is how I upgraded the ROM, but I will make sure I have unlocked it and then install the original ROM from the T-Mobile site.
Thanks so much again, now I should be able to send it back, providing it all works...

Yet Another ROM Query (Hopefully My Last!)...

Hi all,
Okay, after weeks of deliberating I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge and flash my ROM to Dutty's 3.1XT. I have read all of the forums many times over to get a better understanding of the procedure (thanks to CrackWhore, Olinex and co.), however I still have some queries:
Firstly my current specs are a stock Orange ROM (1.19.61.1 WWE) which is CID locked and stock 1.14 SPL.
Could someone please confirm that all I need to do is to flash the latest version of HSPL, prior to flashing with Dutty's ROM? Could it really be this easy now?!
The release of HSPL to support flashing ROMs after 1.54 seems to have made the process a lot simpler, but I would like you to clarify that this is fact the case, even with an Orange CID lock.
Finally, in case I don't get on with Dutty's ROM (which sounds doubtful), please could someone re-post the official HTC ROM (RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.3 4_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe) as the Mediafire link to it on the following WIKI page doesn't appear to work:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe
I assume that with HSPL in place I should be able to run the stock 1.56 ROM without the upgrade problems my current Orange one presents?
With your answers in front of me and a bank holiday weekend ahead, hopefully I can crack this once and for all (it's been niggling me for ages!)
Thanks in advance guys...
Bump - anybody?
read thru the guide here it'll answer all your questions. i personally think the USPL approach is better than HSPL.

HTC Touch Cruise (P3650) - Original ROM GER (WM 6.0) & SPL needed - please help

Dear experts,
since a long time now I'm reading this forum and got many fantastic tipps, ROMs, etc. Unfortunately since yesterday my HTC Touch Cruise's (P3650) touchscreen doesn't react any more. Even hard reset, trying several ROMs (til yesterday I used M-Anime for more than 6 month without any problems), nothing could solve this problem
Therefore I need to send back the HTC to my distributor. However I've to restore original ROM & SPL. Before updating to M-Anime I made a copy of my ROM as suggested, but unfortunately in the meantime all my PC data were lost. So no ROM and even more no SPL. My last hope is this great forum!
To go back to original status I need IMHO following things:
If possible a short description of necessary steps
Original WM 6.0 GERMAN ROM (Version: Bought my HTC in March 2008 / Orginal HTC - no branding)
Original SPL (have installed Hard-SPL at the moment)
Everything what I forgot so far
Many thanks for your help & support in advance,
cheers

PS. I tried to read all threads regarding original rom, but either it's not the correct version or the download link is down ...
hi
direkt von HTC > WM 6.1

Hey Reko,
thanks for your prompt answer. Thought that this upgrade needs original WM 6.0 ROM ... nevertheless installation worked and I've the original HTC WM 6.1 installed now. In this regard one question, just to clarify. The HTC WM 6.1 is an official release and therfore guarantee keeps untouched, right?
And second thing, now I've to restore the original SPL, I tried to check all relevant threads, but I'm still not sure what to do and where to get it. Could anyone help?
Again many thanks for your support,
cheers
ToBe76
1. flash the spl-restore and verify manually in bootloader if the SPL 1.25.xx got flashed
2. flash again the wm6.1 because it has newer SPL than the SPL-restored
if that fails..
1. flash wm6.0 rom + radiorom
2. flash spl-restore
3. keep it as is, or update wm6.1
Hi c3ro,
thanks for your support. Will try do follow your steps and in case of further problems get back.
Thx & cheers

ROM Upgrade for HTC HD2 Vodafone Branding

Hello everybody,
I have bought my new HTC HD2 from Vodafone Germany. I live in Germany and ,as all windows devices, my HTC is localized to Germany and the windows mobile 6.5 comes with the German language and I wanted to change it to English. I tried to download the ROM upgrade to "English-Arabic support" from HTC website but when I put the serial number of my device it says that this version is not suitable for your device and I have found another version "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe" and when I tried to install it I got an error says "INVALID Vendor ID" or something like this.
Finally I have bought a 3ed party software just to be enabled to read arabic but the language is still German
So please if anybody knows how to solve this problem and help me I will be thankful.
Best Regards,
Amer
install hspl then instal whichever run you like via usb.
i had the same probs here with vodaphone uk...
as above, install hspl, the sticky of this can be found in the leo roms section of this site and it will guide you, but the installation process is really straight forward.. then you are able to install any of the ROMS, be they official OR custom cooked roms..
My personal favourite is the ENERGY series of roms.. but have a good look about, im sure you will find many that offer the practicality and versatility your after!

Hi Ell_H,
Thank you very much for your reply and I have read about HSPL and it sounds amazing tool but another question about restoring the old system. How can I get the original ROM and restore the system to its old state after changing it?
Thanks in advanced.

You need to find the original rom for your phone, both region AND provider(if you were getting invalid serial on teh htc website then your phone is provider locked, so for example you would need to look for the german t mobile rom, if you got your phone from t mobile germany)
Once you have your original rom you can then use sd card method to remove hspl and restore to factory rom. You can only do this with your original shipped rom.
Problem upgradind German Vodafone ROM
Hi,
I have the same problem upgrading the Vodafone ROM. I would like to load the generic ROM or any other ROM that works with Vodafone. It can be English as well. If I try to load the generic through HTC site it checks the SN and doesn't allow the ROM upgrade.
What to do to load another up to date ROM without running into the same issue as Amer? There are so many ROM version out there and I don't want to risk trying the wrong ROM.
Thanks for help!

You need to obtain the rom from vodafone, or use HSPL / Gold Card to flash another ROM.
Thx for answer. I read about HSPL and will figure that out. I read there are requirements concerning the radio. My radio is 2.04.50.22_2 and ssems pretty old. Does someone know where to find the best guide how to do the HSPL install?
There are many ROMS out there and I want to make sure I will not run into trouble using it with Vada. What ROM to take is the question?
Danke!

I believe the HD2 is locked to the O2 in the UK and it is still have the very old 1.48 rom and I would like to upgrade to the latest 1.66 but when I try to download the rom from the HTC site it said the rom is not for my phone after I enter my Serial Number.
So, any one know which SN i need in order to download the 1.66 rom in English WWE? Also, what do I need to install the rom with my O2 locked HD2? I am sure even if I have the rom the upgrade won't let me because it is locked to O2 UK. Please help!
All I want is to make my HD2 better (than the stupid Iphone)

I've already tried and downloaded it using a different serial. The updater then prevents you from flashing as it checks the serial prior to flashing.
Your best bet is to flash using a ROM in the ROM forum section.
mh....changing rom isnt very difficult..
but: i would only do, if really needed.
i'm also using 1.48 and i don't wanna change since an official rom supports landscape manila.
but if you want, do this:
choose the right S/N here and download your ROM.
when you've got it, you need to install HSPL first.
all about HSPL is written in this thread.
after installing hspl successfully, you can run the RUU.exe, which you downloaded from htc.com .
but think about it carefully...it could void your warranty
but all about that in hspl thread.
good luck.
DN41
Instal HSPL2 from the HSPL/HSPL2 thread in rom development. (It is fully reversable, your warranty is only temporarily void)
Then go to the Leo Official Roms thread in rom development, first post, first link, brings up a list of folder
1.42
1.48
1.66
etc etc
Look in the 1.66 folder for one with 'HTC' and 'WWE' in the title (world wide english and HTC unbranded)
Download it, and with your phone connected to usb, run the exe you downloaded.
THis WILL of course reset your phone completely, so be sure and back up your data first.
guys I didn't need HSPL when I updated. I was using the stock ROM, then I downloaded the official 1.66 ROM from this forum (coz my serial gave an invalid error on HTC website). I just connected with USB and ran activesync/windows mobile device manager and ran the .exe file of the update.
so your leo wasn't "branded".
where did you buy it?
DN41
oh yer of course, how n00b of me to forget that. Yer mine was bought online from handtec (official reseller).
EDIT: Sry kingdanny, just ignore my post. You may get confused otherwise.
