Need some information on build in eReader - HD2 General

I recently switched to a new rom that has a build in eReader tab. The rom I use is the ChuckyRom.
There are no sample books in the library and everything is empty. The strange thing is that I can't find any information on how to use this app. Can someone please help me with some of the questions I have.
1) The most important question for me is how to get my ebooks into the system. Where should I upload them to. There has to be a folder in the system where I should put them, I have no idea where
2) The second question I have is how to use the Borders and Adobe Accounts. I have both accounts, and I see that there are no free books at borders. Are there any free books at adobe?

it's a jungle out there!
PErsonally I use mobipocket, for a couple of reasons..
It supports OEB (Non- protected books, so in 10 years time you will still be able to read them)
The reader is free (on the website it is advertised as a trial - this is for the pro version, install it anyway under the trial, aftrer the trial ends you can still use the software but some of the more complex functions are disabled -like autoscroll)
The reader will operate on palm or PPC - meaning I can share my books with my friends who have palm, rather than having to reformat them.
They also supply a publisher program for creating the books, this is free for home use.
It's not microsoft
go to www.mobipocket.com

The reader I use is muBook from http://gowerpoint.com/.
It can handle .PDB, .PRC, .TXT, .RTF and .HTML as e-books, and display inline .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, .WMF (in RTF) or .BMP.
If you're starting from a TXT file, you don't gain much by converting it to an e-book format, unless you add niceties like an index.
Which book is it? If it's out of copyright, you may be able to get it from manybooks in an e-book format (with index etc.).
well as to which book it is then no it's not a copyrighted book and it's not a book you'd find anywhere on the internet, somebody i know wrote it and all
i wanted to make it ebookish
because then when reading it i would be able to put bookmarks in and get a bit better more cleartypish font then the std notepad
as a rule just make it's easier and more easy to read it

Hi,
I use mobipocket too and I guess, it is a great program. You can convert your .txt - file with mobipocket publisher 3.0.
You don´t need the profressional version and you have the possibiblity to take indexes and a lot of more features of formatted textes and add your bookmarks and other features.
have fun!
well i of cause have that ms ebook reader and i have acrobat reader if at all possible i would pref not installing any more ebook readers on my xda2
will it be required ?

I guess, you will be able to convert your text into pdf- or -lit - format. But the readers have less features, the files are much bigger - but it is possible...
First I had the microsoft reader and the pdf-reader too. Now I have only the mobipocket-reader...

uBook will give you the choice of any font you like, with 3 different modes of anti-aliasing/alpha blending, multiple styles/backgrounds, font sizes/colors, columns, bookmarks, annotations, and it will even figure out headings etc. (for example convert CHAPTER 1 to a chapter heading). No conversion necessary. It just works.
Why lock yourself into some company's proprietary e-book format, when there's great, free, open source software that will read all sorts of formats, and offers a lot of options? If you're using an e-book reader that doesn't read .TXT files and can display them nicely, then you're cheating yourself.
You can also try PDF Printer . It supports Vista.

Format of Borders eBooks?

I just want to know what format does my ebooks that I download have to be in order to view them on the borders ebook tab.
Thanks!

well the kitchen ive been playing with, which comes with a pack of books, appears to use .epub. Though how you would load them on their own i dont know, , and i dont know how to use the kitchen either, yet, so thats no help, heh.
The preferred format does appear to be .epub. You can add further books to the existing list but you will need an application like EBook Indexer to rebuild the database and make them usable on that tab.
I'd assume that downloading from Borders might add them automatically, but I haven't tried that yet as I couldn't find anything on Borders that I wanted.

[Q] Want to make a custom pdf viewer with menu

Hi,
Im just starting out devving and for work I would like to build a custom branded pdf viewer that opens pdfs inside program.
What i want to do in detail:
main page - branded to my company (i can do the graphics easily enough)
this page has two options - SOPs and SWPs (these are categories of documents)
SOPs page - list of pdfs in this category
SWPs page - list of pdfs in this category
I know I could just use adilko or other ereader app but i want to make my own.
Any help with the actual code to launch the pdfs within the app so i can go easily back to previous app pages would be greatly appreciated!
please guys i need help, its doing me in!
"Launching pdfs within the app" will not work as easily as you think. Unless you can find a PDF library or engine (however it's called for PDF) you will have to follow the PDF specifications and implement the rendering yourself. Good luck!

I was thinking of reskinning vudroid for my non-commercial purposes - but after downloading all 1422 files on their code repository, eclipse wouldnt accept it
I've found a dirty way by converting each 20+ page pdf into jpgs and calling them as a scrollable screen. but i wanna zoom and **** lol. would look so much more polished (as far as my clients see) that i have everything within a certain style.
but alas, as Ned Kelly said:

[Q] Use SkyScraper API To Add Right Click Option to SkyDrive Desktop App?

This is a little bit off topic, as it's not specific to Windows 8 in any way, but it does have to do with SkyDrive, which is very integrated in to the new OS (and I couldn't find anywhere better to post this).
Basically, I'm using the new SkyDrive Desktop app, and love it. Only problem is that There's no direct file linking, and no way to copy a link from the SkyDrive folder on the desktop. So I did some digging, and I found this:
http://www.timacheson.com/Blog/2009/oct/skydrive_api
Is there any way that can be used to create a simple application that just adds a right click "copy link" function to files within your SkyDrive Folder? I'm not a developer, but it seems very possible to me.
If you guys know somewhere better to post this, please let me know.

[Q] e-Book management! Calibre Library Management Help!

I have around a few hundred ebooks in my collection. I downloaded caliber. Althought it’s a great e-book management software, I have a couple of problems with it. Specifically the way it stores your ebooks after importing them. It organizes/stores e-books in its library in folders in the following order: Author --> Book Title -->Actual e-book file (epub/mobi etc).
However, I have always stored my books in this manner:
* If a book is in only one format, I won’t put it in a separate folder and will rename it the following way: Book Title – Author Name.epub
* If a book is in more than one format, I will put the e-book files in a separate folder in the following manner: Book Title – Author Name.epub, Book Title - Author Name. mobi
Having my e-books in the above way makes it easier for me to organize them. Its just a personal preference, I guess. I am wondering if its possible to organize your Caliber Library this way. I have looked around but wasn’t able to find my answer.
I hope someone else can provide some insight?
Thanks.
Hi. I don't know if you'll get much of a response because this is a Calibre question rather than a Nook question. However, I do believe that the "save template" field in the Calibre preferences will let you organize your books however you wish. It's in the Saving Books to disk section. Good luck.

I cannot tell about Calibre.
There are few few Nook apps (right in this forum) to auto populate Nook Shelves pretty much anyway you want.
I found my answer. Unfortunately they wont change the folder structure....
