Is It True About GB update on our X8???

I don't think so. To me, it looks kind of strange that he says
I already updated my phone to 2.3 before creating this tutorial

Android 1.6 to 2.3? Where is 2.1?
I think this is a simple trick to get more views this site.
Just look at the "Related Posts" at the bottom of the site...
there is the same tutorial as this to upgrad our X8 to 3.0 Honeycomb.
It is FAKE
I think you are right, somebody just messed up...
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
Nope, it's faker than fake websites ... and even if you look closely at the tutorial you'll see it's for X10 and I bet it was meant for the 2.1 update not 2.3 which will come to X10 sometime in the next 6 months.
It's just one of that fake web-sites.

Its a coming 2.3.3 not 2.3.4

Hope it happens

Thanks for the update but it would be nice if you could have posted this to appropriate section of the forum as this is not Development related.

Mostly Bug fixes, maybe improved battery life, and small build increase in the some of the built in apps like Gmail and browser etc.
Then you got all the new Sony stuff on top, so should be good.
and the all important fix to the user data encryption problem recently made public... which is prevalent in all Android versions upto 2.3.4!

sorry, what's your point?

My point is that I have got Xperia Arc for more than month and I noticed that SE doesn't hurry with updates at all. Look at SGS 2 from samsung. They relased first update fixing some bugs just after 2 weeks they introduced the model....

Except that can and is being fixed server-side by Google, so not having 2.3.4 isn't as big an issue as it might be.
Plus, the problem only occurs when using unsecured wi-fi networks - the clue is in the name

Yeah, they pushed out a minor bug-fix.
This is a combination bug-fix and update to the next version of Android, of course that's going to take more time.
When other manufacturers like HTC are only just updating their current handset range to 2.3.2 and SE are updating the Arc and Play from 2.3.2, I don't really see why you're being so negative.
Pretty new to the android stuff so,
Will this be an OTA Update?
My Phione is unlocked and rootet, any issues for updating?
Last question will it wipe your phone?
thx for replies...
@Karooluss This will be the 2nd update for the arc....
It launched on build .181 and is now .184.
So uhm...... 2 updates (including an android version update), and the phone's only been about 2 months. Not bad going?
Ronniecross, I have still 181 fw fersion although I check for new almost every day. 184 is probably update only for UK and it add some unnecessary stuff like bbc player?? Correct me if I m not right;-)

the firmware that was released (the .75) actually just was posted today
How do they help us (just interested/dont burn me!)
I mean, is this the "kernel" source needed for custom kernels. Will it help to fix the music lag etc/..
4.0.A.2.368.tar.bz2
4.0.A.2.364.tar.bz2
4.0.A.2.335.tar.bz2
*that 3 maybe for ARC, NEO, PLAY
not sure about neo, but I have PLAY with 4.0 build (flash to older generic UK, ..don't ask why, but they even maybe the promised 2.3.4
but other 3.0.1 maybe for X10, the answer to that question if you ask is,
that the RAY and new MINI got new launcher, like on the ARC new Gneric FW that posted some days a go. and also, nobody say we will not have updates for the system. after 2.1 (435), there was at least 2 more updates for Germany and Thailand, so there is some chance we will get some update soon, maybe for X10A soon to, and maybe some fixes, but if you look on the name, past 2.1 for X10,E10,U20,E15,E16 have model names, the new one don't, so it's hard to know, maybe the mini's & x8 get 2.3? we will se some news soon, i'm sure.
PS, still stuck on X10's 2.1 (435) hope there will be Global\World Generic for the 2.3.3 (75)
As history has shown us...the X10 usually receives its Open Source files 10-15 days after the update hits the market. However that said, most of the time the PTCRB was registered before the update had been released...since our firmware was just registered I'm not sure if they will release it next weekish or in 10-15 MORE days...or might do something random as to release it NOW...or in a long time...but they eventually will.

Seriously... the open sources for all other devices are basically coming out as fast as there update is available... I think since we found a way to boot custom kernels, there not happy and will not release... haha...

6? RAY, PLAY, ARC, MINI, MINI PRO, active? ,ohh the 4.0.x.x, that possible
but what other 3.0.1 ?
well i think this will help, btw there some sources for eclair (x10a_eclair_2.1.A.0.492), that its important, 'cause the kernel on the gb its a patch, so maybe our devs can use some of that.
edit... btw this ones too so-01c_gingerbread_3.0.D.2.79

NEWS: Update (minor) is rolling out for ALL Xpera with 2.3.3 on board

Today on Official SE Latvia Facebook page was posted some information about new update
(http://www.facebook.com/sonyericssonlv/posts/256797321016149)
HTML:
"Xperia tālruņiem ar Android 2.3.3 pieejams jauns atjauninājums. Atjauninājumam jāizmanto USB vadu un Update service vai PC Companion aplikācijas. Kontakti un dati atjauninājuma laikā netiek bojāti.
Pilns atjauninājuma ieguvumu apskats sekos pirmdien!"
I have translated it for you:
Where already is avaliable update for Xperia phones with Android 2.3.3. To update your phone you need USB cable and Update service via PC Companion application. Contacts and phones\ data won't be damaged during these update
SE also commented below (this is about ARC, but shows nice results anywhere):
HTML:
"Diemžēl nē-procesors paliek tāds pats, bet Bencmark testā gan no 2100 p pacēlās reitings uz 2888 p!"
"Unfortunately no, the processor will remain the same (not 1400 mhz), but the benchmark shows that the rating from 2100 p increased to 2888 p."
One new comment from SE Latvia about Xperia X10:
HTML:
"Tātad tomēr X10 pagaidām ir pāreja no 2.1. uz 2.3. un pagaidām nav jaunāku atjauninājumu. (Nebiju pārliecināts vai X10 arī būs pieejams šis atjauninājums - to jautāju Twiterī)
Esmu šobrīd pārbaudījis uz Arc, Neo, Mini, MiniPro"
"So far, however, X10 is a changing from 2.1. to 2.3. and yet there is no newer update. (I was not sure if the X10 is available for this update right now - it asked in Twitter)
I've now checked the Arc, Neo, Mini, MiniPro"
Anyway, it is a good news. We will have some improvements in some time!
Also that's mean, that SE is still supporting and updating our phones
Good luck to all!
No offense, but did you read any other threads in this forum? Specially this one?
2.3 has been out for a couple of weeks already...

Yes! we don't need official rom,, custom roms are more better
Who needs a official ROM now?
I think custom rom especially gingerdx rom is much more better than the official one. It faster and smooth like hell..^^
X8 with gingerdx v11, [email protected], supercharger v6, fast reboot, quadrant score more than 1100++..^^
Thank Doixanh!!!
if sony release 2.3 it will be helpful for our dev. they can take lib from it..
I Lol'd. This is the first time I saw a inaccurate info in GSMarena. But even there is really a 2.3 stock ROM. I'll try it but I expect I'll go back to GingerDX after a few hrs.
GingerDXv011 is a must.

They say that our X8 natively supports wma...LOL
yes gsmarena get's it wrong again.
no update for post 2011 models !

Perhaps because the devs here can improve on their roms using the SE libs?
I think gsmarena have a reason to show information like that,in fact x8 can running in android 2.3,,but SE su*k,they wont develop it for our phone
