What does CFC stands for?

Hi folks,
sorry for being a super noob but I need information which is for everyone clear but unfortunately not for me. I have to decide which version of CABs should I download if there are two versions available. A normal ine and a CFC version. But what the hell is CFC?
Please help.

Its a compression method for the image files that greatly reduces file size

i think it could be compact flash card ?!?!

CFC = ChainFire's Compressor
It means images in the archive use a special form of compression your ROM must support to be able to use them...

CFC= cholo-floro-carbon, just remebring my good old days at high school, lol

Generally, the CFC version is faster and smaller than a non-compressed version, so you'd want to choose that instead

About Manila Versions (very noob question)

Hi Guys!
I'm sorry for this surely stupid and noob question.. but I'd like to understand: which is the difference between this Manila 2D and the TouchFLO 3D v2.1.xxxx that come with some new Blackstone cooked ROM?
I have been searching for a lot about Manila 3D and TouchFLO standalone cab releases to install on Blackstone Mario SuperLite ROMs in order to understand the behaviour and the differences ..but I was able only to find a cab of TF3D v1.3.35345.1_1630.38 and none one for TF3D v2.1.xxx.......
Long short story: I have not clearly understand the difference between Manila version releases and (above all) the difference between Manila 2D (TF2D ??) and Manila 3D (TF3D ??).. Is there any kindly expert mind who can explain me, please?
Excuse me again for this noob question.. but I have to recover to much lost time and knowledgement in the WM HTC interface evolution.

i don't think u will be able to find any standalone cab with manila instalation for Touch HD...there are some VGA ports but nothing for WVGA....apparently it's too complex and could be done only by flashing new ROM... at least that is the answer i got some time ago...

I know is quite impossible to find cabs for Manila..
btw this is not the point here: I'd like to know the difference and having some possible answers about Manila version releases..
which is the difference between this Manila 2D and the TouchFLO 3D that come with some new Blackstone cooked ROM?

i hope everybody can help me with my little problem.
i use manila htc sense 2.5202525 and i will change the internetglobe picture.
i think the picture is in a manila file, but i dont know, what manilafile.
anybody have a idea?

You can modify the file : 27c65cbd_manila , you can write the path of your pictures (unpressed and pressed) like it was done with manila 2.0 or 2.1....

thank you, but i use manila 2.5 202525 and here is it another place.
i found the solution.
i opening with cfc manila editor this files:
0eea1f69_manila
69344fb4_manila
and replace with my pictures 512x256 px
and after restart tf3d looks better
problem solved!

but how can i change the text "browser starten" in the tab???

have nobody an idea?

Oh, sorry I cook for TP2 (WVGA). I'm not sure if they'll work for an HD2.

HD2 is WVGA right? I don't see why it wouldn't work. I've cooked that EXT package in my WVGA kitchen and it works fine. Are you sure there is nothing else wrong?

i am not sure somethink is wrong.i have tried that you upload ext file .. i am cust building normal build .. its also not workin cab file ..i dont understand

Max manila does not work for 2017, 2018 & 2019 version. I think it works for 2016 version if I remember correct.

Has anyone ever modded Sense/Manila with all the tabs enabled?
I am getting an HTC Leo (1024 Tmo) and I would like to have Sense/Manila with all the tabs enabled.
I did this for manila 2.0 for my QVGA (Tmo Wing) by enabling the tabs in the HTCHome xml and adding the correct images, etc...
But when I was unpackaging the latest Leo image I see that all the manila files are labled "0b1b17c3_manila."
And I don't see an xml file to edit.

I'm a bit confused as to what you're asking. If you're talking about simply cooking in the regedits for enablement/disablement of tabs on boot up, then it's:

Yes. Thank you. That is what I was looking for. To be honest I didn't know about the registry values. I only know what I did use from cooking for QVGA devices.

Can you point me in the right direction (link-wise) to cook Sense into my ROMs?
My ultimate goal would be to have the latest Sense version with all the tabs enabled for my HD2 (1024).

[New APP] Png to CFC Hq - GUI -1.1

Hello my friends,
If you have a smartphone with Manila ( Sense), you have to see thaht the PNG included in manila are compressed with a lost of quality
Our chef Chainfire has created a famous apps named "CFC Gui" that aims at compressing png with CFC algorythm but with always the lost of quality.
In addition it created on other apps named "CFC" ( ->Only in command line) that aims at converting png to cfc in HQ ( whitout lost of quality), but many people that use CFC GUI don't know that Chainfire has created a CFC in command line in order to compress in HQ !
In order to compress png to cfc with HQ i have created an apps with GUI in order to compress png to cfc files with HQ easyli ( with this, you don't need to create a batch with a FOR,etc...which is very good if you have a lof of PNG files to convert).
In addition, before to convert my PNG to CFC HQ, i optimize the PNG with the famous png_optimizer_cl ( by Hadrien -> http://psydk.org/PngOptimizer.php). This fabulous software aims at optimizing a png file whitout lost of quality.
To conclude, this program use PngOptimizerCL in order to optimize the png whitout quality loss, and then it use the famous CFC.exe in order to convert the optimised png to manila files with CFC HQ method with padding.The advantage of this tool is first it optimize the png and secondly it compress it with CFC but with the HQ parameters which is not available in the CFC Gui.
So, this tools aims at having better quality manila files than using cfc gui.
Here is a picture with CFC HQ and whitout CFC HQ ( Note that the result is better on the smartpone)
Look at the shadow, the contour, the feathers, the wings and the beak ! And you can zoomIt in order to compare !
Thanks a lot to our chef Chainfire, whitout it, this work wasn't be possible !

I have the same problem... not find the file (which seems to be renamed FILE ORIGINAL + _P)

I have found what is the bug.
If the optimized PNG user a colored indexed mode instead of an RGB mode, the CFC cannot compress it to CFC HQ !
Thats' why i need to modify the programm...
I will correct it monday

Nevertheless could you please give me some informations about the problem with png optimizer ? Coud you please give me the picture before the png optimizer process ?

just browse around in sense and you will notice some problems (visually).
for example in settings tab, white lines (horizontal are incorrect).
another thing i noticed was in a search bar there are distortions (can't remember exactly).
also in quicklink program selection the selector graphics is wrong.
i think problem can be solved when 8bit is disabled in png optimizer.

But you compress in CFC HQ all the Sense picture ?
Because the Sense picture are already destructed, so there is no advantage to compress in HQ the original Sense picture no ?

i think i was wrong. graphical bugs also appear without using png optimizer.
tested it with original png's and my batch to use with cfc.exe directly.
seems to be a problem of cfc hq...
