This will be pretty difficult. I presume you mean you installed it (despite the huge numbers of warnings here and on other sites).
I think you'll need to see if fastboot still works (it most definitely won't ) and see if flashrec works (which it likely won't). Failing that, we may need some rooters to find a flaw to crack it.
If fastboot works, we can use superboot to sort it out

flashrec does not work and fastboot does not work, finally it works, but you can not install a recovery from fastboot

does goldcard still work to downgrade the firmware?

the Goldcard does not work either because it is 2.1

what does "it finally works"? Did u mean flashrec can be run in htc hero 2.1?

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App

I wanted to say that its not working (fastboot) and does not also flashrec

So, by that means who want to have Custom ROM Later they shouldn't Flash Official android 2.1 Update ? Because they will loose root & can not get it back ? Right ? can't flash recovery, means can't install Custom ROM

Did you try AmonRa - recovery ?
flashrec can be install or not ? if it can then try to flash using AmonRa .. if it works then can get recovery option i think .

flashrec can install but can not install a recovery it does not work

All Right Thanks bro .. now i don't want to install official 2.1

Maybe stupid question, but is it not possible to have 1.5 back using an old RUU

its not working

Flash custom recovery on an already rooted Aria with clockworks recovery?

is it possible to switch to another custom recovery after I already got clockworks?
I tried unrevoked but its stuck in the reboot (I believe its trying to root my aria again)
not sure what youre trying to do.... i believe Clockwork is the only Recovery for rooted phones. if you want to flash a custom ROM, well that is something else altogether. please be specific as to what you want to flash to the phone. include a link to the flash too
I was trying to flash psfreedom recovery rom from here
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/HTC_Aria
I believe the method on that website was for unrooted arias without clockworks

To flash a different custom recovery on your Aria, you need to rename the zip file LIBEIMG.ZIP on the SD card and boot in HBOOT (Power on the phone by holding down VOL DOWN and the Power Button). When it boots to the HBOOT screen you should see text stating that it found LIBEIMG.ZIP and is installing it.
awesome. now before I go ahead, is there any clockworkx recovery image I can revert back to?

I'm curious, what recovery are you talking about?
thanks for including the link. the instructions are clear.... Root IS required, Clockwork recovery is recommended, the Freedom Aria flash appears to be a custom ROM.
once the phone is Rooted, boot into Recovery, make a Nandroid backup, and flash downloaded zip file from SD card.
if you need help Rooting, there is all sorts of good methods available on this site. I use the Unrevoked method myself, but it works best on Linux or Mac OS

hmm I think you are looking at the old method which is a custom rom
The new one is a custom recovery which brings me to the question as I dont think you can flash a custom recovery in the clockwork custom recovery.
its possible im looking at the wrong thing, but far as i can tell it states "Recovery Custom ROM" which is totally different from Custom Recovery ROM
From link posted above:
"Update can be installed in recovery mode in Psfreedom settings menu via Update (local) or Update (net) if you have configured your wifi connection. Put the file on your SDCARD and install it.
Download Recovery custom rom : http://alephzain.klutsh.com/aria-recovery.tgz "

I have similar questions. I was trying to update my version of clockwork also using unrevoked again, but couldn't get it to work. I guess my questions are:
1. Is there any benefit in updating to a newer version of clockwork? My current version is 2.0.x.x and I believe the latest one is 2.5.0.4.
2. Will this same method work to do so? Can I rename the latest clockwork .zip file like this and get it updated?
I thought using the flash clockwork option in ROM Manager would do it, but it doesn't. If I reboot from ROM Manager it goes to the newer version, but if I reboot otherwise it goes to my original. The couple times I've used it, there appears to be maybe some different features/options in the newer one and I feel like I might be missing out on something!
What's the difference with this recovery?

These are probably two different things. once you got the recovery rom flashed you can upgrade it in recovery mode (hence its different from original clockwork recovery)
Ok bro, I didn't see much info about it so I'm gonna take your word for it.
@brswattt, far as I can tell this is " basically" used for jailbreaking the ps3.
@armyengineer;
you can use unrEVOked to flash the new recovery. if youre a Windows user, download the unrEVOked tool and run the .exe as Administrator. also make sure there are no conflicting s/w on the PC such as HTC Sync and you have all the drivers installed(HBoot, ADB drivers, etc.)
for more info about the PSFreedom Recovery, check out THIS Thread HERE
unrevoked keeps giving me
couldnt find misc
error, is there any other way to flash a recovery?

This still isn't working for me. Everything appears to go well at the start, then I get:
Waiting for root...(safe to restart if this doesn't work)
At which point the only way I can restart is to pull my battery. After doing so, it reboots and I get:
This was a triumph
It is not, however, any such thing. After another minute I get this:
Internal error: couldn't find misc.
So I've still got my original version of clockwork, 2.0.1.3, despite the fact that ROM Manager is telling me I have 2.5.0.1. I'm obviously missing something here.
BTW, if it matters I'm running CM 6.1.0

Although there is a ClockworkMod 2.5.0.4 version, I don't think it is for the Aria. According to ClockworkMod ROM Manager, 2.5.0.1 is the most current one for the Aria so I am believing what ROM Manager is telling me since it is written by the same the vendor.
I have tried CM 6.1.0
original HTC Aria 2.1 International Rom
and FR001 RC1
all no go. I think it has something to do with the phone already been rooted and has clockworks installed which makes unrevoked unhappy

OK, let's start from the beginning. You asked about installing an alternate recovery (PSFreedom recovery), but apparently it has its own installation procedure that needs to be run on an unrooted Aria.
What you need is to find just the PSFreedom recovery and copy it to your SD called in a file called LIBEIMG.ZIP and that is how you need to install it on a root phone that has ClockworkMod. Perhaps you need to go back to the PSFreedom thread and ask if a LIBEIMG.ZIP can be produced that can be flashed from HBOOT to replace ClockworkMod.
Looks like everything you need is located in the PSFreedom wiki:
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/HTC_Aria
I got a recovery.bin which is suppose to be used with unrevoked.
are you talking about the same one if I just compress it into a zip file?

[Q] How to get stock recovery back for rooted wildfire ?

Hello mates,
I have a rooted wildfire with Wildpuzzle ROM v2.2. My recovery image is the Clockwork Recovery.
I want to load the Stock Froyo, now that app2SD is possible without root.
(App2sd is the only reason rooted).
I tried flashing the RUUxxxxx.exe file ,but got the error cannot upgrade your phone.
I found that signing key of the custom recovery is the causing the problem and that I have to get the Stock Recovery. And only then I will be able to run the RUUxxxx.exe file for Stock Froyo 2.2.
Can anyone tell me how I can do it ?
It will be of great help if any one can share an original "recovery.img" .
Also I am having trouble with fastboot becuase I have S-ON in bootloader.
Make a gold card. Flash stock RUU. Flash 2.2 RUU. Done! Look up a guide of making goldcard on xda or modaco.

So you dont need the root anymore?
Then you should download from shipped-roms.com a WWE that is eclair run the .exe on ur pc and when its done go to (in ur phone) to the updates section and OTA upgrade to non-rooted official froyo!
(Htc Buzz:wildfire WWE is under the windows mobile section for some reason xD)

[Q] S-off (by xtc), then what?

hi!
i found a shop in my area (slo) to unlock my phone. but i'm a bit confused. if i get my phone s-off-ed, as i understand this means full system root, which should men i should be somehow able to flash clockwork mod and then custom roms. this should be done by downgrading to 2.1 and hboot 0.8x.
i found a video tutorial on downgrading here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981765
and my question: shouldn't i be able to flash clockworkmod directly (without downgrading), since i will have my phone fully unlocked? if possible, how?
I think the best is after the s-off, install and older RUU, then use unrevoked 3.14 thats the most easy and i think the safest way
Most efficient way

Hi
I have rooted wildfire with s-off (xtc clip) and Hboot - 1.01.0002 . I tried the above method but fastboot wont detect the zip file and says not found. I am unable to install clockworkmod using rom manager, whenever i do, i get the red traingle of death.
What to do now ?
Please help...
u donot need to downgrade with an RUU. and further doing so may make ur phone S-ON again (im not sure about this).
u have a simple process.
u can flash any "recovery image" via fastboot mode.
and that's all, after doing that u can flash any rooted custom rom from that recovery.
getting to S-OFF is an expensive task yaar (as far as now). try to keep it in S-OFF permanently.

have u done the "PC49IMG.zip" process with the file in the above link. it is the process for flashing clockwork mod "recovery image". once this is successful, then u can install any custom roms from the CWM recovery.
note: donot do the PC49IMG.ZIP process with any outside file (excluding the link above). if u do that, u might loose the S-OFF
Alternatively, u can flash other recoveries also (i dont know any others)
I got it eventually, I downgraded using ruu rom to hboot. 80 rooted it again and now have 2.3.3 over it
Thanks anyways ..

How will you lose s-off by flashing a PC49IMG.zip? XTC Clip wipes the secuflag in radio NVRAM, no way of getting it back via a normal update.
edit: never mind........

going to run over my friend's mytouch

So, he's running a custom ROM right now, the latest desire hd port, GB, etc.
Well, most everything else needs CWM 3.006 or whatever. So, I'm trying to flash that. BUT, his phone acts as if he doesn't have root. I't S-offed and has "su" (the app) but it just doesn't work.
Tried flashing cwm with fastboot, "permission denied"
Idk what else to do

i dont think you can flash using fastboot in .86.
if it wont boot to the rom try the PD15IMG.zip file to restore
if it boots to the rom, go back to the true s-off/permroot guide in the development section and flash your bootloader (there is directions at the bottom of the first post (the post with the instructions))
After that it should work for fastboot
You can alternatively flash recovery through rom manager (off of the market..the free version will do)

have you tried using TrueBlue's recovery .zip it was the only way I could get either of my phones to take 3.0.0.6

Well, I flashed regardless of the 3006 req, and it went fine... Whatever lol.

What exactly do you mean? Topic says "without bootloader" but still you're able to provide a photo of what's written in your bootloader? Doesn't make sense :-/
What's happening if you try to go into recovery? If it's neither 4ext nor cwm and aahk ain't working - I can't help you (shortage of knowledge)
If you just want it to run again, put the right PD98IMG on the root of your sdcard and let the bootloader flash it (but read really carefully how to do this )
AAHK will be able to install the cmw recovery which is provided in the kit... run the kit choose the 3rd option thn choose the option which says install clockwork recovery.. AAKH will flash the recovery on ur device. Now goto recovery n flash the zip u want as usual..... or u can root ur phone using one root thn install clockwork mode recovery app to flash the recovery thn flash the rom u want in recovety... does this help

I don't know how you get recovery on your device but at least it's s-off. So you are able to flash a custom Rom. But I'm not sure how, if you say you don't have recovery...
Using aahk for it means you have to use a pc. If it fails it could be, because pc doesn't recognize your device.
Check if you have the necessary drivers installed which you can install with HTC sync. You don't need HTC sync after that, just the drivers.
Apart from that i don't know what else to do

If he is stuck in fastboot he won´t be able to use the Hack Kit as it needs adb connectivity and that you get it from a working phone. He should try to flash CWM first and a custom rom or just a RUU.

You must be is fastboot usb mode (choise in your bootloader)
1. Download a recovery.img for desire hd (i recomend 4ext)
2. Set up adb
3. Place the recovery.img in the same folder as fastboot (in the folder of adb you find "fastboot")
4. Use command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
5. Use command "fastboot reboot"
6. Use command "adb reboot recovery"
Either flash custom recovery or RUU.
