You need to give us more detail.
What IM app? Are you using stock or custom roms? & is this a stock app already on the phone or an app you downloaded.
its a stock app that came with the phone.
Stock apps cannot be removed. They are cooked into the stock ROM.
Only solution is to install a custom ROM that doesn't have the IM app.
and how would i do that?

It's a fairly complicated and delicate process, but here's the instructions if you want them:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
Just be sure to read them carefully and follow them exactly...you stand the chance of bricking your device by trying this, just fair warning

Has anyone else found the messaging app to be extremly buggy? I have the stock ATT rom and haven't made any major mods to it. It's constantly freezing, the text input field is always hidden, etc. Is there a fix somewhere? At this point I'm even willing to pay for an app, but I can't find any. SMS chat doesnt work with 6.5.
Please and thanks for any help!

Thanks! If that works, you will be me hero!

I'm inexperienced with custom ROMs, but I think its a 50/50 chance. Give it a shot and if it doesn't work you can simply unistall it. Everything will be like before. That's the beauty of CABs.
no luck

did you get the error before installation? if so, my guess is htc put in a check to see what rom ur running so the fix cant install on another device. maybe a good dev here can decompile the cab and remove the check/block.
cannot d/l from htc site....
Just got around to installing this. My messaging app wasn't giving me much trouble prior to now, so i just installed it. It froze right when I opened the first message and backed out. Just tried again and it froze again. Way to go HTC.

Ah, if it's the official ROM you're running then I think that would be odexed. These mods only work on a deodexed ROM. That's why it won't change anything. I don't know of a way to do it on a odexed ROM.
oh, yes, you are right. i will change to deodexed rom, thanks.
and i saw that sombody asked you for a guide, any chance...?
you'll be my hero!
so, i will change to deodexed, can you do the new messege thing, please? just if you have spare time or something... lol
thanks alot for your time and help!!

A guide isn't too easy, as there are a lot of steps. Depends on how familiar you are with smali/baksmali and .smali code files. If you know how to use these tools then you're on your way.
I'll try and have a go with the 'New Message' short cut, but can't promise anything as not sure when I'll have a chance to sit down and do it. But if I get it done I'll be sure to PM you
thanks, and i dont know a thing about .smali, i hoped your guide will be my step up lol
so just if you have time and thats.
thanks for everything!
and i hope it didnt came up in a rude and greedy way, i am realy thankfull.
Hi,
I have just purchased a new HTC HD2 on T-Mobile (U.K.) and I am loving it !
I am a total novice and wish to change from Windows 6.5 to the better latest Android OS.
Can anyone please tell me how to do this? I have no idea what I am doing and do not want to do something which may jeopardise the phone (I do know that it does affect the warranty) The only thing I know about 'Flash' it flashing my mobile in public.
I would really like if someone can give me Step by Step instructions via a video so I can see what I am doing.
Any feedback would be really appreciated.
Many thanks

Don't rush anything. Make sure you have a good idea about what you're doing and what you can do if things go wrong. If you're unsure about anything just use the search feature first and if you're still iffy about something, ask a question.

Thanks for the reply. I found these two sites:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmfSpQBVx-E&feature=related
http://theunlockr.com/2010/07/03/how-to-get-android-on-your-htc-hd2/
Can I use these sites as reference? And if, for anyone reason I wanted to turn back to Windows 6.5, how would I do that?

I think you are making this harder than it needs to be. Just follow the instructions given to you in your previously started thread about the same thing. The link to MSkip gives you detailed instructions on how to install Android on your HD2 and how to revert back to WM6.5 if you so desire.

Thanks for the reply. What is the latest version of Android for HTC HD2? The link you gave me, is that the latest version?
Google is your friend. Haven't used it in a while. If you are that unsure of flashing Android to your HD2 just buy an Android powered phone. Sorry to be so brash but just follow the instructions.

I'll try to explain a bit. First off you've got to install the things that let you install Android in the first place (HSPL, MAGLDR, CWM etc) and after that you install a ROM. A ROM is the thing that will decide what version of Android you phone will have. If you don't like the ROM you have, or if you just want the newest version of Android, all you have to do is change it. You don't have to re-install everything again, just your ROM.
You might have to change your CWM partition size when you choose a new ROM, but the chef (person who made the ROM) will let you know what size you need in the thread. This is also easy and doesn't require you to re-install everything. Don't worry if you don't know what a CWM partition is because it'll make sense eventually.

Thanks for the reply which I found very helpful. Can you tell me where to download the latest ROM to download for T Mobile U.K.?

Can I use any of the ROM's?
Hi everyone!
I'd like to install NAND Android on my HTC HD2. I'm really, really afraid of doing this because of the bricking posibility.
Can I do it in any safe way, like creating a backup of WinMo 6.5 ROM and installing it in case Android install goes wrong?
Or maybe someone can point me in the right direction on how to do everything safe? What should I NOT do?
Please help me guys, I'd really appreciate it!
Look in the nand android thread and go to the "sticky roll-up thread " and click on the intruction guide for noobs and read it realy good. Follow intructions (watch the video) , if you do as said in the instructions, nothing can go wrong.

Yeah like posted, as long as you follow the directions you should be fine. Read through the Noob thread a couple times and ask about anything you do not understand before attempting to do it, there are a lot of experienced users here (myself included) who can assist you with questions.

Thank you guys, I'll attempt to do everything this weekend. I'll ask everything I won't understand.
I use my phone a lot for work, mostly email. We are now required to install a Microsoft Device Management software on our phones and it checks for rooted devices. I like the option of having the features of the custom ROM I'm running, and some software I use with root. Is it possible to just unroot a custom ROM, or do I have to go back to stock? Thanks!
Not sure. I would try root cloaking apps first.
