Hello all,
I'm sure most of you will have seen the flickering icons in the notification area of the HD2. I've noticed that these can slow down any rendering done on the phone while they are flickering. Has anyone managed to remedy this?
EDIT: A video of the problem can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo1Lm30EYaU

you have flickering icons? :S I have not experienced this, any further details/video of it?
Video uploaded, link in the first post.
I see the flickering you are referring too, doesnt it only happen when the wireless is connecting to a network?
that could hint as too why the graphics slows when it flickers
the phone will be doing some background work in attempting to connect to the network so the processing power will be impacted by this.
I do not think the actual flickering is the cause of the lower rendering speed however.
Unfortunately, this happens when ANY of the icons in the notification area animate. The WiFi is just a good example of it happening. I have tried performing other tasks on the phone while the icons are flickering and I have not found the performance of the phone to have degraded. For example, while the WiFi was connecting, I loaded the start menu and started scrolling though it continuously - it remained perfectly smooth and fast.
but you said it affected rendering? surely then you would notice it when scrolling the start menu because it would be choppy? If this is just a flickering icon issue then you could try using a taskbar mod that changes the icons/icon animations.
I have noticed that the wifi icon does flicker (though I have not seen it as bad as your video) I havent experienced the same flicker with the battery, volume or signal strength icons.
I have the same problem, sometimes it's making me nervous

Hi
does anyone notice that their today screen clock hangs once the screen is turned back on???
Also any comments on the sound clarity when talking- is there a 'shh' noise in the background??
thx
my clock hangs for just a split second, it's not that bad to me. but i've only had mine a few weeks now.
as for the sound Q no problem's here.
Clock Hangs
I complained to the provider about this and they said its normal.
Yup, the today screen lag is normal, you'll often be shocked that it's still 5:00 PM, that was an hour ago!
Also, does anyone have any tips on telling the time without having the laggy useless today screen there? I've set it so that the clock comes up in the tool bar, but that only works when other applications are open. It'd be nice if I could set it so it's always at the tool bar.
I have a Telus GS4 and noticed a weird issue today, when I hit the youtube app icon my screen flickers briefly just before youtube opens. It is not noticeable when the brightness is set to high but on low it is very noticeable. This is the only app that does this aside from my TD banking app which was doing the same thing but while I was using it. Anyone else notice this? Did a reset and tested the light sensor and it seems fine but the screen still flickers.
Hi!
I'm having a problem with my camera and haven't seen a thread about this specific problem yet.
This only occurs on special light levels. I can adjust the brightness of the lights and if i go any brighter it dissapears and it also seem to dissapear if i go less bright. I haven't used the camera much but I don't see this on pictures i take in my livingroom or outside (it needs just the right brightness level to show). It occurs both on pictures and on video, but as it is easier to see on the video.
Does anyone have the same issue, or is it a thread that i've missed? I'd like to know if I should try to get a replacement or not.
Thanks!
Can't link as this is my first post, but here is the problem, and I hope I'm allowed to link like this (otherwise remove thread).

The problem you are talking about is the banding of horizontal lines? My guess is that as you adjust your lights it changes the frequency so that it is now causing the often noticed problem of when you take video of your tv monitor.. the shutter speed of the phone and the lights are oscillating.
This happens with all video cameras to a degree. Since the phone has less control over its settings i would suggest you just change your lighting until the problem goes away. Possibly changing the camera profile to something different could help but that just seems the wrong way to deal with the problem at this time.
I'm not sure if this is related to some interference in your ground to your lights or what, but hopefully my post will help you research it on the net or something positive.
Good luck.
Hi guys,
I've been experiencing a strange problem with my N4.
Sometimes when waking the phone back from idle mode the screen gets dimmed. Not all of it though – the status bar and control panel at the bottom won't be affected. It looks like a layer that all of a sudden covers most parts of my screen. Toggling the brightness settings will have an effect on the overall screen only in that it only allows more light through this half-opaque black layer, it won't get rid of it however. I need to reboot the phone in order to get rid of it.
Running a rooted N4 – CWM 6.0.4.7, SuperSU 2.16, KK 4.4.4 (KTU84P)
This has been an ongoing problem for as long as I have the phone, I think… but it seems like it's becoming more frequent. I can't find anything related to this topic on the internet.
Thanks.
Anyone experiencing this problem? As I lower the shuttle speed past 1/125, the vertical dark lines would be more apparent.
Go outside and try it without artificial lighting.
If you have fluorescent lights, these lights flicker at an extremely fast speed so as the camera shutter closes it can actually capture the darkness between the flickers, which is the most likely culprit here. Same reason videos of old CRT screens look like there are lines running down them - the camera sees the times between the screen refreshes.

It isn't flickering at all actually. The dark stripes stay on the same spot no matter where I move it.
I am having the same issue in pro mode on fast shutter speed. Any solution guys?

Could still be the lights, and I'm not familiar with this at all (so correct me if I'm wrong), but my phone had the same under some lights, the stripes are constant and not moving. When I went outside, no issue whatshowever.
Same Problem...
If anyone has a solution please hit me up, this has just began occurring recently I'm currently wondering if it's because water has gotten into the lens of my Galaxy s9+ as earlier today I accidentally placed it onto a small water puddle. I'm keen to know why my damn phone has this problem after working perfectly well for a long ass time without any of these problems when I maneuver and mess around with the shutter speeds. Once again, if you know what's wrong please respond to this thread fast.
