Evo Sound Notifications - EVO 4G General

Hey guys, i don't like have one notification noise for ALL my notifications. now i can't tell the difference between emails, sms etc. i looked under settings but it only allows you to set one sound over all. is there any way to get individual sounds for individual events?

Each one of those have a settings tab. You can change them idependently. IE: Open Messages and go to settings, Notifications and change it. Same with gmail and exchange.

Email / SMS Notification Tone

Hello,
Is there a way of having a different tone for a new SMS and a different tone for a new Email recieved?
At the moment, all notifications sound the same, so you cannot distiguish between new email, sms etc, without looking at the phone.
Cheers,
Go to the relevant app e.g. gmail and then click menu and then change the notification sound to whatever you want...
You can set the sms sound in the sms settings, not for emails though so I guess emails use the default notification sound.
In Gmail menu > more > select ringtone
and you can change what appears in the list by creating folders for the notifications, then moving the sounds there
Problem with the phone is you can't have different tones for different people which is annoying.
You can have different ringtones for different contacts....

Per contact SMS notifications

I've just switched over from a blackberry, and I absolutely LOVE this phone. However my main pet-peeve (other than the battery) is the lack of per contact SMS sounds. I get SMS notifications when one of my servers at work has an issue and basically need to be able to override vibrate settings as well as a custom sound from this particular contact. I was curious if there was anything like this available.
Thanks in advance.
Look for SMSPopUp in the Market. I believe it allows you to set individual notification tones.
you could also try handcent or chompsms, they all allow this. Just make sure you turn off notification in the default app or you'll be getting double notifications.
This is great! Thank you.
Best of all its open source, so I can add the features im missing, such as overriding silent/vibrate (if at all possible)

need help with notification sounds

okay so under setting - notification sounds - you can only set your default notifications sounds which i guess is one sound for all type of notifications, emailes txt and so forth. I of course want different sounds for individual notifications. When i go to my email and change the notification sound of my email under its own settings it keeps reverting back to the default sound under the phone settings. Any way to by pass this? please help

Have I just overlooked how to set different notification ringtones for...

Email, vs text, vs picture message??
Also - when I get a facebook notification.......why doesn't my phone tell me about it like all my friend blackberries and iphones do?
Sigh.
you have to go into each individual program, hit the menu touch capacative button, hit settings, and then check the notification option and choose the ringtone. as for the facebook issue, eveyone has it. I receive notifications ver sporadically and few and far between. Its just something wrong with the facebook ap.
Edit: as for mms notifications, I'm pretty sure that its the same as the sms notification. Just go to settings, sound nd display, and choose the ringtone.

Thanks, I figured I just wasn't thinking!

Android Messages, a change?

I'm I just blind or did Google reMove the overall notification sound within Android Messages? I can set individual contact notification sounds, not not the overall default notification for Android Messages.
Reason I ask is I set different notifications per app. I really don't want Messages to use the default notification sound of the phone. Luckily it is still how I set it. I just hope they don't override it!
In Messages go to Settings -> Notifications -> Behavior, sound & more -> Other notifications
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Why on earth did they bury it so deeply? ?
