Hihi, I was wondering if there was a tool that would convert ROMs in the ASUS .abi format into to HTC's .nbh format? (The HTC bit is correct right?)
If you're wondering why, it's so us folks with ASUS device's can use that good Ol' OSKitchen!
Although obviously, if you know of another method to use this kitchen with ASUS ROMs, by all means, let me know!
Any help would be apprepciated, so shoot!
Thanks!
I'm not familiar with the Asus formats, but I assume during cooking you turn the ABI in to an OS.NB? If that's the case, you should be able to use the OS.NB in OSKitchen, and then convert it back to an ABI later.
Ahhhhh, I've been silly haven't I!
I have to split the .abi into os.nb0 and extrom.img with p835abisplit2.exe when I use my normal kitchen!
Thanks for making me realise my mistake!!
I'm considering this solved, so the mods can close it if needs be.

I can easily add nb0 support to oskitchen but will that device work or does it have one of the native kernels that cause platformrebuilder to crash?
I've imported the os.nb0 from my Xda Zest (Asus P565) stock rom into oskitchen, and everything worked fine!
oskitchen built the rom fine, platformrebuilder didn't show any errors or anything and the rom booted, so I'd say it doesn't have one of the native kernels that cause it to crash.

As for adding support, is it not already there?
I used the import wizard that pops up, and it imported fine.
It did say this,

But that's not anything to do with the image being imported, It's the name of the device right?

There are lot of different NB0/BIN files but the one that the tool you used extracted seems to be a NB0 with all the extra data removed, usually those have to be converted to nb with osnbtool -sp to clean the exta data.

Yes the device name currently has nothing associated with it, you can use whatever name you want.

I think I see what you mean,
You're saying you might add support for NB0s with all the extra data removed?
And while you're here,
My EXT Packages tab is empty in oskitchen, is it supposed to be?

No I meant I had to add support to rebuilding the NB0 with extra data, your one doesn't need the extra data so it works fine.
Yes the EXT packages are empty because other manufacturers cram everything inside the OEMMisc package. With non-HTC phones you have to sort things up by yourself and it takes a lot.
Ah, I get you now!
What is the extra data though by the way?
Yeaah, my OEMMISC folder is such a mess!
Some things are in there like MMS and EziPhoto and other Asus apps, and there are loads of other things in the extrom.img.
It's all rather confusing.

It's data the tools don't understand so it's usually stripped and put back in form of padding.

Well at least part of the stuff is removable directly by emptying the extended rom, phones like the omnia where tons of applications are crammed in oemmisc are a mess to handle.

That's a good point actually.
I emptied my extended rom using winimage, very easy indeed!
What happens if I just delete the OEMMISC folder?
Would that leave me with, if I build it, a 'blank' (as in no oem customisations) rom?
Or would it not boot?

If the camera and other applications aren't store there probably you would get a clean working ROM.
Haha, yeah the cameras in there.
I took everything else out and it all worked fine so my OEMMisc folder is now tidy, so to speak!
And I can add in all the cabs I need using the package converter in oskitchen.
I've now cooked my first customised(ish) rom! Yaay.
I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help.
Thanks so much!!

If I wanted to use this in DCD's kitchen, how do I do it?
Or you can create your own with customized text
Here's the link
question though....if you use it as startup animation...does it display the word once...or does it keep cycling through over and over...
i think it'd look badass if it only did it once....but if it kept going it might look dumb
those are the coolest splash screens i have ever seen. never cared much about them in till now. hmmmm, now to figure out how to cook them into the rom.
i know that the ppcgeeks kitchen it's pretty easy and that i could always cook with that first and then reflash my dcd kitchened rom, but is there a way to do it with out ppcgeeks kitchen flash?
thanks though. nice post

the easiest way I found is to use advance configuration to change them out....you will need the new 2.1 though the older one dont give you the option of what gif you want for your startup animation...if you are going to use mine give me a little bit to update how many frames it has.... you'll see edit in the first post when I'm done
You don't need to use advanced config to do it, as I have seen a lot of people having issues with their phone using that program with 3.0.x. There is a process called bootsplash cooking. You cook up a small bootsplash ROM that you flash just like you would one of dcd's system ROMS. All it does is flash the bootsplash, takes about 5 seconds. I've done it several times using 2.x.x.

Well ya you can go thru all of that but it's easier the other way. As far as DCD's rom's go..... there has never been an issue with me running advance config on his rom's, neither the old or new, and his ROM's are all I run. So I'd guess there is a lil discrepincy in the compilation or the ROM or the install of advance config. So it's really up to the end user on how they want to get it done. I vote for simple and easy since I run the program anyways. Plus I can change them out very simply and I don't have to flash anything. So it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.
Bored - Are you tallin about Shaaps Advanced config? And if so, where in the options is this at? I have Shaps V 2.02.1.0.0..

It's right above the Music Plug-in section. It's marked Startup Animation. Third line down you can select the GIF File you want to use for your animation. Really simple and easy. My suggestion would be to store the gif in My Documents/My Videos that way it's not looking for your sd card.
I have been looking all over for this config tool. someone wanna point me in the right direction to the download? or should i just download a kitchen with it in there?
of course just as i post the question, i find it

is it possible to find the sprint animation used by the htc titan? I own a verizon xv6800 but that sprint startup screen is really really nice. Is it possible that it can be ripped and placed here? is it a flash file or a gif?
Is the the Sprint animation that you are referring to?

If you just want this startup animation without flashing a new ROM, you can use a file manager that has the capability to overwrite files (such as Resco Explorer) to replace the existing one on the phone. Just rename any animated GIF file that you want to use to WMStartup_ani.gif and replace the one on your device in the Windows folder. Soft reset your phone and enjoy the new one.
thanks maybe I can try my hand at making some...if school doesn't get in my way which I hope it doesn't...who knows ^_^
I'm working on this project for months (or is it already a year ???) now and this is after all a Quick Peek of the almost "Beta".
It's a GUI for the platformrebuilder.exe with additional functions for editing and new diagnostic functions.
It will be possible to extend the app with plugins (for all devs interested devs, the plug-in API will be public).
The main app is written in mixed code (managed and unmanaged c++), but plugins must be managed (VC++, VC, VB, ...)
All plugins and the GUI support translation... just need to make a new localization.en-us.xml for your language
Ok, pics tell more than words

there will also be an update for platformrebuilder.exe, fixing some problems that it had with some non HTC devices.
This GUI is basically for all WM devices that can flash custom roms, just making the OS file system... plug-ins can build the right rom then.
this looks great

Will this kitchen protect all the roms?
Like prb ? remove all the .reloc section of modules ?
Is there any way to turn off the option?
I like your kitchen, but i dont like to protect my rom.
Fantastic!
U are the Man.
WOW!!!!! I always think that you are an alien
It is awsome a simple preview of the files? its amazing I wonder if this New GUI could do some changes to the initflashfiles I mean... maybe if I want a shortcut here or there i could make it mannually and it affects directly to the initflash, (maybe its an impossible idea hehe ) but seeing the images like an emulator I can imagine so much things.
Hope the kitchen has the same improvements as the Ervius and new tools that Da_G is working on... to make the process faster but this is a fantastic idea and its looking good.
Congrats man! a donation coming soon... to support the work

Sweet, can't wait to give it a whirl when it's ready.
Slightly off topic, but since it's based on platformrebuilder, it's probably ok. Your old buildOS works great, but I can't get platformrebuilder to run provxml's after boot (ref here). I went through the normal steps to try to get it working, will this change file attribs and all that during boot time?

(Sept. 1st 2009) NEW HTC CHome Plugins & Apps from T-Mobile Dash 3G (TEST RELEASED)
Hello, I just downloaded the new T-Mobile ROM from here. I noticed they made a few new CHome aka Titanium Plugin as well as might have updated some.
I managed to extract the ROM, but I am not the greatest at doing so. When I did, everything is in one Folder. I am wondering if someone more skilled at ROM extraction would mind extracting this ROM in Packages so it'd be easier to pull out what I want/need. Here's a list of the new plugins in that ROM btw. Well at least what I'm guessing from the CPR layouts.
MyWeather
HTCMyFaves
HTCVOICEMAIL
HTCWeather
HTCSMSMMS
HTCMusic
HTCSprintMusic
HTCPIEFAVORITE
MyPageWithChild
HTCEMAIL
Also, the MyFaves app for T-Mobile USA user has been completely redone so I'd like to work on porting it to see what changed since it's been quite some time since the oirginal we have.
NOTE: It only has a Landscape Flash. Will probably need a skill Flash maker to convert the Landscape one to Portrait.
Got HTC Email/SMS & MMS/IE Favorites/Audio Manager/Sprint Music working. They still need some layout tweaking as Sliding Panels has a 112 Focus Panel Height & Titanium uses a 82 Focus Panel Height. All file exist for HTC Weather, but for some reason it won't show & the app won't update when city is selected. Maybe it's just PPC incompatable. Still need Package for HTC MyFaves (T-Mobile app). Releasing as is for anyone who wants to take this over. Don't have time to mess with Layouts & HTC Weather. Really just looking for HTC MyFaves myself.

Yes, I registered & click activation link in the e-mail, but still not seeing any posts. Any ideas as to why? does it take time to update completed actvitation maybe?
Ok, so package builder 3 didn't seem to do anything other than move the files. Maybe I should mention when i extracted everything I am not even getting any .reg or .rgu files. I took the .nbh file & extracted it to .nb files & than extract the os .nb file that I got & got a huge SYS folder. Inside the SYS folder there are 3 more folder, the main one being DASH3G which contains every dll/image/app/etc that appears to come from the \Windows directory of the ROM.
Hey friend, I am dowloading the ROM now, I will extract and package everything up for you and send you the download link in a little while!

Thanks everyone!
Incase someone wants to work on the flash for MyFaves. Here's the old Flash & New Flash. Looks like the new one is missing touch support (Old version when loaded into internet broswer would show Link Mouse Curse over Hotspots, New version doesn't do that) & there's no Portrait SWF either.
My5_*.swf is the old file, myFaves_*.swf is the new.
NOTE: Might be worth while to check into the Rodium aka TP2 to see if that is a better version of MyFaves to use & if it's even compatable as this version is deisgned to write to CHome Registries.

I have used the TMOUS 2.10.1 ROM base to cook my latest ROMs to make them TMOUS compatible.
I have had someone test the ROM and it works fine, but only 512 ROM is recognised.
In EVK, I used the entire OEM > COMMON folder as a base, so that means everything including OEMDrivers and OEMDriversHigh is from the 2.10.1
I even used the OEMXIPKernel from the 2.10.1 ROM dump (even though it appears identical to the 2.10 version).
Is there anything else I have missed that is required to enable the full 1024MB ROM?
Thanks
Good question, I'm using the same stuff but also in my rom thread users reported about the memory.
* OEMXipkernel
* Oemdrivers
* Oemdrivershigh
* Oemversion
* Radio
good question..
My opinion:
It can only be the SPL. Ether they did not use HSPL2.08 or HSPL2.08 is not 1024MB compatible...

yea my fix probably would not fix you're issue or everyone would have this problem.. i think i'm the only chef that cook's in the radioconf.nb and radiocust.nb into the rom also... just ignore my suggestion.. i would question the users what spl they are using like the above suggestion and be sure you're rom base is 2.10...

Ah ok thanks, I'll see what they are using...
I read through Laurentius26 TMOUS ROM thread...one of the users said
"I flash an other ROM (elegance) just to see the difference and there I have 724 free storage"
So this indicates it's not HSPL related...it has to be something related to the ROM..but what
i would like to understand this also, the htc device info shows 1024 flash and 576 ram but the os info only shows total storage of 227mb and 452 total program.
this should be 1024 storage no?
have you tried just rebuilding the stock 2.10 rom with your EVK and having someone test it to see what ram/storage it has? if so and its not working then i think you should have josh upload his EVK and tools folder and try rebuilding with it and see if it works for you since he said he doesnt have this problem.
make sure dont delete any files that are in the OEM folder,and keep the OEMXipKernel,i think you will get the 1024 rom enble

Already tried this...
I'm using Extendir, next rom for T-Mob USA HD2 I will do without this feature and leave XIP what it's, maybe that will solve it who knows.
For now it's just quesing and hoping it works as I don't have a T-Mob US.

Did anyone try this already?
Because my wild guess would be that you need one ore more of the following files from the 2.10:
Code:
\ROM\LEO\os.nb.payload
\ROM\LEO\romhdr.bin
\ROM\LEO\xip.bin
I'm not in a position to test this, but you probably only need the payload.
If I remember correct, storage sizes are in the payload.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip, will give it a try!
Thanks ShaDrac,
I did a quick compair between HD2 HTC 1.72 rom and T-Mob 2.10.
The IMGFS offset is different.
IMGFS offset of TMob starts earlier as HTC, so that means more space at the end of payload so more mem or am I totally wrong?

well it makes sense.. it's dumping the imgfs at different start places becuse the tmobile build xip and imgfs structure adressing is different because it allocates the extra ram. The HTC dump and imgfs and xip adressing is allocated for that phone..
This is my htcrt.ini
[Leo]
Experimental=1
ModelId=PB8110000
SignMaxChunkSize=64
RomSections=7, "0x100,IPL,0,TRUE", "0x200,SPL,524288,TRUE", "0x600,Splash,786432,FALSE", "0x601,Subsplash,0,FALSE", "0x301,Radio,20840448,TRUE", "0x700,""Ext. ROM"",0,FALSE", "0x400,OS,0,FALSE"
Could that be the cause, wrong settings?

Hi guys,
Need some help on this one. I recently moved to OS Kitchen. Must say pretty impressive. Still exploring it but i faced an issue. i did not change the sys and simple imported my EVK packs and sys(i hope so). When i build using evk, everything is fine, but when i cook using OS Kitchen i face some issues:
1. The resolution on text and some popup displays is small as in below pics.
2. The softkey font is in bold. earlier it used to be normal.

If anyone knows a specific reason or a workarnd then do help. thanx
Same thing happened to me with the small text, but I haven't had time to figure it out. I just added some oboe stuff and 23132, but left most things the same as a build in oskitchen without those issues. Will keep an eye on this thread .

Small fonts - this issue is related to the folder structure required for OS Kitchen. In "0409" you will find some packages which are not "0409". Transfer it to "Common" and, no more small fonts.
Bold fonts - This issue is related to the latest WM releases, and, it is on purpose (not a bad idea). The only remedy I know - integrate some files from older COM5 releases. IMHO it is a questionable solution that risks instability by mixing different branches. Better become use to bold.
Hope it helps.

Hi mate..
this appened because when you rebuild your rom with Ervius kitchen
all dsm in all pack in sys are eliminated,
if you have import sys build from EVk to Os,there will be no dsm
required to Os Kitchen

the sys packs in evk have dsm files. so this time i imported sys from the evk folder using oskitchen. but still same issue.
I had this issue with OSB one time, and willysp said he had the issue too.
We basically altered "packages.sof" to rearrange the SYS folders, the order in which they are processed.
Once untouched it was just fine. But it just dont like that SYS order to be messed with.
