Facebook Contact sync no longer working - EVO 4G General

I still have the stock EVO as I purchased it Friday morning with no OTA update. When I setup Facebook for the first time I was able to sync my Facebook contacts. Now, I don't see that option and my Facebook contacts don't show up anymore in my People list. I still have my G1 (that I just handed over to my anti-techno wife) and I setup Facebook and the script to modify it to sync Facebook contacts. Do I do the same thing on my EVO and run the same script in order to make the Contact Sync available?

Is facebook integration working for you?

I am facing a general problem with facebook integration in my new Legend. I've set up a facebook sync. When I link a contact in phone (google contact) with a contact from facebook, I can't afterwards see the albums of the contact or see the updates in people application. The link is working, because I am able to set the contact picture also from facebook, but updates and albums from facebook are not working. I tried also to hard reset the device and set it up again, but it did not help. Aren't you facing the same problem? I've opened a ticket to HTC, but I have to wait until they receive a Legend to their office :-D.
I'm signed in to the Facebook using Friend Connect application and in the detail of the contact in "People" application I can see updates for each connected Google contact <- Facebook contact. Updates are working for the Facebook status as well as for photos.
A cannot check it with Twitter, because I do not have any valid contact there
so, now the problem is solved. I started to have also problems with gmail contacts which refused to sync with gmail. Syncing was so strange, it was duplicating 2 contacts every time in gmail ... grrr horrible.
Then I deleted all contacts in gmail, also all contacts in phone, I cleared the cache for google contacts app. Afterwards I restored contacts from my last .csv backup in gmail and after sync all contact were back in phone. I lost all photos of my contacts, so I had to link most of them with facebook contacts. But it solved the problem. The integration with facebook is working again .. I was very happy yesterday.
Great
Thanks for the info

gmail sync with 2.2 and google apps accounts

SO,
Just wondering... I was just looking on an EVO forum to see if anyone had started getting their 2.2 roll out and noticed a thread titled:
Gmail still not syncing reliably on EVO...
Post #4 suggests that gtalk triggers gmail syncing. Now I use a true gmail account so checkout etc... all work on my phone, but my primary email is a google apps account (mydomain.com). I have my primary gmail account set to not actually sync anything, and my apps account syncing all three options.
The whole Froyo single sign on/ attaching gtalk/gapps to the first gmail account and not allowing my apps account to log into talk seems like a valid reason that would cause my non (pure) gmail account to be pushing correctly.
Does this make sense, is there any validity to it?

edit: So, some testing. I disabled forwarding (in gmail web) for my [email protected] account and ENABLED gmail sync on that account.
Sending email to that account is pushing to my phone just fine. with or without gtalk signed in, and it's even working after I killed the gtalk app via systempanel.
I am NOT however getting pushed email to my secondary account (google apps) [email protected] google apps account.
Something weird is going on.
I'm surprised there hasn't been more on this.
I have 2 separate gmail accounts on my phone and it seems that I only get updates for emails that get sent to the primary gmail account (the first account that was used to set up the phone initally). Any mail that gets sent to the second account doesn't get updated until after I hit the 'Sync Now' button in the menu.
I just had a friend with an EVO on stock 2.1 update 1 test this. He also uses google apps, and actually only had his gmail setup on his phone.
He added his apps account, and set gmail to sync.
I sent him a test message and he got it right away. I know that my phone also worked correctly before going to 2.2. Now, in 2.1 for ME I used gtalk with my google apps ID, where as my friend has his setup with his gmail.com account (the way I'm forced to do in 2.2 right now).
Ok right now at 10:20pm my gmail is pushing instantly (at least for new mail) noticing that if I read the mail on the phone/PC the update is not making it back to the other very quickly. I read/deleted the test message about 3 minutes ago, and the phone still believes there's a new message there.
At first I thought it was because I am hom and on WIFI, however I disconnected, and sent another test. It's working the same on 3G.
I seriously noticed this tonight as I was sending myself a link to the how-to downgrade HBOOT so I could get rid of the OTA radio updat and go back to 2.1... hanging on a bit longer now I guess
Edit: Literally, as soon as I hit the post button, the icon disappeared on my phone so its slow but working

But when sending a new sms and i open the phonebook everything comes up... phone, sim, facebook, sense facebook.
How do i make it show phone contacts only?

I wish I knew. I think it's this same problem that made my phone send all my Facebook contacts etc to my car head unit when I copied over the phone book via Bluetooth

This thread I presume ?
http://www.htcdesireforum.com/htc-desire-general-discussion/facebook-friends-in-message-list/
Here's the procedure they suggest :
1. Turn on wifi
2. Go to Settings >>> Accounts and Sync
3. Make sure Auto sync is ON.
4. Click on, 'Facebook for HTC Sense'
5. Uncheck the box where it says to sync contacts
6. Click, 'Remove account'
7. It will ask if you want to delete contacts ect. (Thats the point) Then remove
8. Create your account again.
9. This time after you have created your account make sure ONLY the 'Synce live feed' box is ticked. Sync contacts shouldnt be ticked.

I have the same problem as the people on the other thread (http://www.htcdesireforum.com/htc-desire-how-to/all-facebook-contacts-when-ending-messages/).
i.e. I can remove "Facebook for HTC Sense" fine, and FB contacts are gone.
However when I recreate it, it starts syncing as soon as I go into that option, and it will only let me untick the Sync Contacts mode it once the first sync has already completed! Argh...
Andre
yes. that's the one. only facebook accounts for my existing phone contacts were synched.

[Q] Facebook & Twitter syncing ALL contacts

Hi everyone. New Droid X user here, as I just moved off my Incredible. Setting up the phone and setting up my Facebook and Twitter sync in the phone's settings. On my INC, I was able to tell Facebook to only sync contacts that currently exist on Google. My original Droid allowed me to do this as well.
With the Droid X, I see no such option to only sync existing contacts, so instead it puts ALL my Facebook contacts into my phone book. It's also doing the same for my Twitter contacts.
I tried to disable the Facebook sync from the phone (which removed the contacts) and add the sync through the Facebook app itself. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have that setting where it was on my INC. I only have options to turn off notifications and that's it.
Can anyone give me pointers here? I want my Facebook contacts sycn'd, but only the ones that already exist in my GMAIL.
I have a feeling this is something to do with Moto's customization. If there's no way to do this, I'll just root the phone and go with a ROM.
You have the Facebook app from the market, right?
As far as i can remember, when you run the app for the first time, you'll be asked to choose for one out of 3 choices after signing in (sync all, sync with existing contact, and don't sync at all). If that's what you want, then you should choose the 2nd option. I don't know if it's any help at all but i hope this works
At first I tried only with the phones version of the sync and it did not work. I've then downloaded facebook from the market and signed in. It did not give me any option to sync and when I go into the settings there are no sync options there either.
Edited: I decided to Root the phone, installed Liberty, and all is peachy.

Facebook contacts don't link wiht my book in 4.03

I have updated my nexus s to 4.03 (on two nexus s) but on one phone my facebook contact want to be linked
When I press "ADD ACCOUNT" can't add any facebook account to link with my contacts on other phone everything is fine.
Everything else is fine.
Google and facebook have some issues with the contact linking process. It can be hacked in but its not in there by default.
could you provide more informations about this hack please ?
it's not that there are 'issues'. google removed fb sync because fb refuses to let you save your fb contacts, so it provides a false sense of security, in the sense that the contacts always sync, but can NEVER be backed up.
if you want to sync fb, use friend caster. There's an app that will also sync profile pics, as well, but I can't remember the name right now.
