I am trying to see how many evo's were sold this past weekend? I did preorder and really like my phone. Just curious to see the numbers.... I did find this link for what it is worth... Not sure it is says much, but that was all I could find so far....

ive heard between 1.5-2 mill from various sprint/shack employees

and two of those are mine! Just waiting for Monday morning delivery from UPS.
My guess is 600,000-750,000. I have no sources or inside knowledge, it's pure speculation on my part, but it sounds more accurate than the numbers I've seen so far in this thread.
When I was at RS getting my new phone, the regional manager from Sprint Ken, walked in and apologized in person for how long it took to get the phone activated and also said 700,000 were pre-ordered.... So not sure that was true, but I am thinking it was....

My local radio shack manager said their entire company only had 10,000 phones, so 60-some thousand sounds about right.
I can't wait for my 2 to get here tomorrow...
100,000 sounds reasonable, 1 million is insanity.
Sprint stores around here sold out by mid-day Friday but some RS stores still had units by mid-day on Saturday. A RS sales rep whom I had given my phone # actually called me to see if I was still interested in buying it Saturday...
Puerto Rico can be a weird market tho. RS and BB had no accessories whatsoever too, Sprint stores had the standard stuff that Sprint stores all over the US do. I actually went by BB today to look at cases, they had Droid Incredible cases even tho Verizon left Puerto Rico around 3-4 years ago and there's no Verizon market here at all, lol.
The one sprint store I stopped by yesterday afternoon had a 30-person wait list. Take it for what it is worth.
Did you ask how many we're upgrades?

Not sure why they ordered so few but T-Mobile USA retail stores have already sold out of the HD2. I was at the store at 9AM and they sold out by 9:30!
I guess they didn't realize how popular it would be.
Odd I picked mine up at 12:30ish at Wal-Mart and was the first to purchase it... Its $148.88 at Wal Mart btw!
T-mo's logistic department has probably underestimated the demand for that phone in some areas of the US...maybe they weren't expecting such a high popularity for a device that doesn't have a bitten apple engraved on the back
I wouldn't be surprised as well if they wanted to sell out to make the phone look better. I bought it at a low traffic store who only got 6 and they didn't have enough for everyone waiting outside. I got mine though.
there are two tmobile stores near me, only four blocks apart. one got 8 and the other 15. i got the second to last one at the store that had 8, some people ahead of me bought more than one. the poor people that weren't buying hd2's were stuck in line for at least half an hour cuz it was taking so long to process the hd2 orders!
My local store got about 150...and sold out.
Then again, my local store is also the closest store to Microsoft's campus, so that's not entirely surprising.
I bought 2 of them just to sell to people in my area when they ran out to make a lil profit. Im using my Telstra 9193
If you're still looking for one, try your locak RadioShack! I know not all the stores in our area sold theirs yet.
I wanted to buy in corp store, but it took me almost 30 minutes and finally gave up (I had to go to school).
I can wait though.
i wanted to die today , the store was insanely packed my employees didn't even take a break , this launch was huge my store got a hand full of phones but sold out quickly, we had about 20 people waiting at 10am when we opened our doors , should have more by tomorrow anyone in miami interested in a hd2 visit my store i should have more tomorrow, 17748 nw 57th ave , miami lakes fl 33015
Don't tell me it's sold out nationwide today because the situation is so out of control.
Nope, not sold out nation wide, Abilene, Texas only has one tmo store in the Mall and it had a few. No one was even there looking at it except me... for like an hour... but still may have to wait to see what iphone "4" offers before I decide to switch from att to tmo, etc..

I was very unhappy that I drove all the way to Miami Lakes (I was told they still had a few) from Pines and the girl told me she just sold the last one. I was pissed! How can T-Mobile launch a phone they want to be an Iphone killer and not keep up with demand?
I ordered two from customer care over the phone but now I have to wait for delivery.
got mine at 12... but they couldnt give it to me servers were too damn loaded... so i went back at 3 and it worked!
My local store (fairly busy area) sold out in 5 minutes. The time it took 3 employees to ring up 4 people. Coulda told us sooner that it was the last one lol.
Should have just stayed home and done the online thing like I ended up doing
I bought two of them at my local store; one for me and one for my wife. They had a waiting list that they started on Saturday and sold all of them (they got 25) from the pre-order list. Only those people who were on the pre-order interest list got them. BOGO on an upgrade yielded two HD2's for $199.00. You can't beat that.
All tmobile stores in Minneapolis/St Paul area sold out by 3 PM. I watched the last one get sold and unfortunatly it wasn't to me. I have found an authorized dealer who says they havn't gotten theirs yet. As soon as I get the call saying they are stocked I'll post.
They pulled the phone from Tmobile Employee orders already as well.

You don't happen to live in San Antonio.
Because that's what they told me at the T-mobile store in La Cantera Mall. They apparently were suppose to receive 22 but only received 6. My brother in law got one, but I didn't and they aren't even sure when the next shipment is.
It is possible they decreased numbers in all America to increase interest.

Just got back from making the rounds to 4 sprint stores.
Two each corp stores/normal outlets.
At the one (corp) store I use they said that even if paying full price....ie, no upgrade no contract, they were only getting 10 each at the stores.
As I traveled to the other stores they told me without me mentioning the 10 per store thing, that they would only be getting 10 units.
My store guy says to go to Best Buy and get one and then come back and he will activate it and throw in a few accessories.
They ALL said that the big box stores would be getting more than the sprint stores would be getting.
I know this might not make those who have an upgrade eligibility available to them, but those like me who will be paying full price might need to know.
That's it.

You must live in the middle of nowhere, because the big sprint stores out my way (Baltimore) are getting way more than 10. The closest one to my house said 200 atleast on launch day.
Where do you live?
I checked at my local Sprint store yesterday. They said that they had no idea how many Evo's they would have. She said it could be 5 or 20. I'm going to another store tomorrow to see what they tell me.

Oh ****, dude. I'm in Greenville right now too. Where did you ask? I'm planning on getting mine from the Haywood Rd store. Let me know your results.
I'm just outside Chicago, NW 'burbs.
1 of the stores is a repair/tech center, they all said the same thing and I didn't say anything about numbers till they did!
But it would be hard to believe that ANY sprint store gets more than 20, that number of 200 sounds just bragish by the store clerk.
Best Buy in Naperville Illinois, states they will have enough for Pre-Orders with a cut off date for guaranteeing them of 28th this month.
I Went in some big sprint dealers in my local area in New Jersey. They all said that they wont know how many they would be getting. But they know whoever pre-order will most deff get theres before those paying full price or upgrade with no pre-order.
Most likly doing pre-orders on phones like this. They send in how many pre orders they got and just order that many. Same with the palm pre. people had to wait 2-3 weeks before they got another shipment in of palm pres.
Like the user said above i think they would just get about 10-20 and half of those or most will be for pre-orders. If those people dont pick they order up with in 2 days. then its just a first come first serve thing
Today I went to a Sprint store that's by my work (scouting a "plan B" store in case the one by my house runs out) and asked the following:
Q: Are you taking pre-orders for the EVO
A: No.
Q: Will you be opening early on the 4th?
A: No. 9AM like usual. (the one by my house IS opening early)
Q: How many phones will be here on the 4th?
A: Not sure but if you get here before noon you will probably get one. Probably not if you wait until 7PM.
Q: Really? Do you anticipate a long line when you open?
A: At the Palm Pre release there were 15 people already in line when I opened.
Q: Any advice?
A: (Laughs)If it ends up being like the Palm Pre release, which had as much buzz before it as the EVO, it will be crazy for a couple of hours and then dead.
If you come here around 11AM or noon there will probably be no wait.
So, it sounds like there's going to be more than 10 phones there on the 4th. This is a small store that's kind of off the beaten path so I imagine the larger stores will have more.
I've also got a guy at a Radio Shack that said he will put one aside for me if I call him in the morning of the 4th. He made it seem like I had nothing to worry about. I think I'm (sort of) covered but I am still worrying and obsessing about it
HTC's next super-phone should have a time machine built in to get me to the next upgrade.
yeah the store b y me pretty much said the same thing. the manager said around 100 phones. they are opening an hour early. he said come around noon and there should be no wait. he said sprint orders phones from numbers from recent launch dates. he said when the palm pre released the store got 90 phones and they were sold out by the end of the day. he said the evo has got a lot more attention so it should be around 100 phones this store will get. oh yeah, no pre orders.
watzone69: I checked 2 stores in the Pflugerville area this weekend with much the same list of questions...same replies. Come before the end of the day, should be ok.
Radioshack where I live said they are getting 10 phones plus the number of preorders they get.
Sprint is anticipated a large order. If you call most of the large stores they will not be taking pre-orders not because of the lack of interest. They are not taking pre-orders because they will most likely have enough to feed the frenzy for the first 4-6 hours.
The Droid Incredible was the same way. There wasn't a long line but more so of a steady pace that last the whole day. It was gone the next. Now nationally backordered.
Just get in a little early or call on June 3rd and make nice with a manager and tell them you would really like one on June 4th. I did that with the Incredible and they held one for me. I just got them to talk about the phone, how business, do you like the phone, etc. Then they said - "Hey look I will hold one for you, give me your name".
Don't spend your wheels worrying about it. You have to remember there are Best Buys, Radio Shacks, Sprint Stores and Independent resellers as well. Lot's of ways to get one.
The Radio Shack I went to said they haven't even had any inquiries about it. After I pre-ordered mine he said he would call the district manager and make sure they had it for me.
sold out in virgina bb

Since I'm assuming it's too late to preorder an EVO at BB or RS and still get it on release day, how many of you will be waiting in line at a Sprint store to get one?
What store will you be at and how early will you get there?
I'll be at the Sprint store in Tucson, AZ probably about 6AM or so, sound good?
I pre-ordered here in Dallas, TX and the RS store manager said they would be open at 6am and i could get my phones then. just FYI. good luck!!
I've got a couple of friends that are going to the local Sprint store at about 5am, unless I get a call from RS on Thursday. They told me that if they get any extras over the ones that have been pre-ordered, they would call me. I have an idea of the amount of Evo's the Sprint store is getting and I have a feeling that there's going to be a lot of people there early.
No need to go early to stand in line sprint stores are getting a lot of evos

Going to my local Radio Shack at 3am to wait. They open at 6am and I hear they will only have a few non-preorder phones for each store. I figure 3am will get me in the front of the line. I'm in Brooklyn.
i dunno how practical it would be, but it would be fun to see a "waiting in line picture thread" and just have everyone post up pics of themselves, their gear, or their watches
just a thought. good luck everyone!

Be careful you don't get jumped. "BK ain't no joke". I always see stories about people getting jumped when they picked up their Nintendos, Playstations, etc.
It might not be to late to preorder depending on your locations. I'm in Birmingham, AL and I couldn't find a place to preorder but my fiancee is in Ames,IA and their Sprint store had one preoder spot left, and Best Buy wouldn't let her do it over the phone but she is one her way there now to try to secure our phones for friday.

lol, i don't know how many people are hot to trot to steal a traceable phone though
i just called my local sprint store. they're opening at 8am friday. i'm considering it. they're going to have 23 of these bad boys just on display. apparently there are going to be quite a few businesses
down there that are thinking about picking them up. like freaking H&R block is going to be there. lord.
I pre-ordered my from Best Buy in West LA over 3 weeks ago. They called me and set up an appointment on Friday to pick it up, which is I think is great... I hate lines... I do assigned seating for movies too. Anyway, they told me that if you don't have a pre-order you ain't getting a phone on Friday.

I called every radio shack and Beast Buy in the city, everyone is completely sold out and have been for a week. I even got laughed at a few times for even asking such a "ridiculous question" as they put it. My only hope is to stand in line. A Sprint Store is not an option for me since I don't do rebates after getting burned so many times.
Seems Best Buy here wont even have units for sale on launch day, the radio shack near my house said they would have a few, whatever that means. So I have no choice but to camp out and hope for the best.
I was able to pre-order ours today from evpdiscount.com, she said they had only placed 400 preorders total for the evo and ours should ship friday. If you get a company discount..ie. chase, ups, credit union....order from evpdiscount.com, they give you a 125.00 dollar rebate. So 174.99 for the phone is a nice perk.
Funny, turned out our 1st pre-order was canceled since I never got back to them with payment info, I completely forgot to call them back. Oh well. They are preordered now.
Jeff
Spoke to my company rep and he'll have one shipped on Friday, receive it Saturday.
the best buy here in RENO, NV opens at 10am.. so im gonna be there at 10am..... LAFF.. Shoulda pre-ordered.
I'll be showing up at my local sprint store in New Bedford Mass at around 5:30-6. They open at 8. The manager told me today that they would be receiving Evos every day including Sunday for a little while. I'm not worried though don't think there's too many people in this area that will wait in line. He told me for the Pre there was a little line but only cuz it was by invitation. And worse comes to worse ill drive to Mexico if I have to to get one Friday, lol.
oh yea! i will be there bright n early either at radio shack or sprint store. probably at radio shack since its $200 there vs $300 at the sprint store... coming from an at&t tilt, i'm doing the 30 day gurantee to ensure i get service.
you guys r lucky, all these radio shacks and sprint stores where i live if full of lazy novice people. they dont even know half of the evo features yet alone any smartphone.
so with that being said. if my sprint store or radio shack even got 200 pre-orders they would still open at they normal hours 8am or 9am. even if sprint gave them a letter or email to open the stores at 6am for pre-orders only they wouldn't do it because they 2 lazy
So I starting calling the corporate sprint stores in my area and I noticed they were all asking if I was an existing (EC) or new customer (NC) before telling me if evo's were available. Turns out they are lying about their evo stock to EC. They will sell you one only if you're a NC
So I called a store, and told them I was a tmobile customer.
"We have 5 in stock so if you come in the next 30 minutes you can get one" .
Then, I told them I wanted to buy the phone outright, full retail, no line activation
sprint rep told me they don't have phones in stock for me.
Immediately I called sprint customer service; they called the store. (10 min after original call). Store now says none are available, and there is a waitlist.
I'm not the only one.
http://androidandme.com/2010/06/car...unning-low-but-could-be-higher-than-we-think/
Try it yourself:
Around Sunnyvale, Ca
5 of 6 stores I called asked if i was an existing customer before answering if they had it in stock. 6 store said none.
2 of 2 stores, told me they had stock, then changed tune when they found out i was an existing customer.
I should have just gone to the store, waited for them to present the phone. then reveal I'm an existing customer. If they try to pull it back, then call sprint customer service.
Sprint may be trying to lure new customers to their network. More money on a new customer than an existing one. Shady but it may be true.
Lol this is so true. My wife and I were on vacation in Florida this week. We decide to go to a sprint store to see if any were available. They ask is this for an existing account or new account. I say new account. Mind you at least 5 people were in front of us asking for evos. Bottom line, when we said we were new customers the manager pulls out 2 evos for us and set up our account. Needless to say we got very strange looks at us and probably some middle fingers behind our backs as well. Feeling sorry for the existing customers.
Remember a corporate store does not get paid on the new or upgrade like a third party agent would. So I do not see the incentive outside of perhaps signing new customers. But then again I would hope they want to keep the old ones as well
Sorry to hear that you are having these issues.
A letter to Mr. Hesse would be good to report this [email protected] - don't expect a nice reply from him though It's automated. Email [email protected]
he will like it - no really he would.
No surprise really since they work off commission..

This happened to me.
I'm an existing Sprint customer. I entered into a 2 year contract in December and got an HTC Hero.
I visited a Sprint corporate store in Culver City, California on launch day at 10:00am. I took my lunch break early (hour lunch). I signed in with the person at the front kiosk and it took 45 minutes before a sales person seen me. I told him I had a Hero, am not eligible for an upgrade, and would like to purchase an Evo outright a full price, and have my account moved over to it. He said he couldn't do this and he could only sell the Evo to customers who were eligible for an upgrade or if I wanted to add a new line. I was pissed and was going to be late coming back from lunch, so I left.
On the way back t work I called Sprint customer service from my phone. I explained what happened and the customer service rep said the store should have been able to sale me the phone at full price as long as I had the phone activate in the store, which I was going to, because I was going to have my account moved over. The customer service rep said she'd call the store to find out what happened on my behalf. I asked her if she could have the store hold a phone for me because they'd probably be sold out by the time I got off of work. She said she couldn't do this because the phone was in high demand.
Later at work I got a voice mail from the customer service rep I talked to earlier. She called the Sprint corporate store that wouldn't sell me the phone and talked to the manager. The manager agreed to hold a phone for me until I got off work for the inconvience.
After work I visited the Sprint store. The manager directed me to the person earlier who wouldn't sell me the phone earlier. The first thing the sales rep told me when I sat down was that they were instructed not to sale the phones to existing customers unless they were eligible for an upgrade or adding a new line. I think it's the store managers instructing their employees to do this to make their numbers look better or something.
Glad I didn't buy off sprint. I got a hero back in December too but got my evo from ebay. $520 and came with an extra 2gig sd. And since it's a google IO evo it has a month for free with full data. Now I have two sweet android phones! :3
Somewhat related: Add the $292 (total) speeding/changing lanes without indicators/not keeping distance tickets I got trying to get to the post office before it closed. Good thing the radar got me doing 90 and not the 155 before I hit the breaks!

I'd say, all in all, you paid way too much for your phone (including your tickets) But at least you have two phones now. (sarcasm if you didn't get that)
And 155mph to get to the post office? Get real. If true, you're damn lucky you didn't kill someone. Idiot.
They aren't lying. Their telling you the truth, you just failed to ask more question. They only have stock for new lines... if someone wants it without adding a new line, they'll order it and have it sent to the store overnight. I had my company rep order it for me and I got it Monday, $502 shipped.

I HIGHLY concur with this statement... fool.
This is not new. T-Mobile was doing the exact same thing when the HTC HD2 ca me out...mainly due to the low supply.
T mobile was doing the same with the HD2
Reps in stores get more commission off building a brand new accounts and new activations. It's like this on all carriers.

nope. they are lying. if you read the thread its not sprints policy to separate stocks for existing and new customers. they rater get more commission buy refusing to sell to me rather than another customer. they refuse by telling me they have none when they do. Of course, sprint structures their commission in away as to encourage this behavor.
guess i got lucky
I was depositing a check at an ATM and saw a Sprint store a couple shops down so I decided to go in and see if they had any. After telling the girl behind the counter that I was an existing customer and wanted to buy it outright she told me they had a waiting list going but that they had received a shipment Wednesday that they had not checked yet. She took my number and said she'd call me after they sorted through it. I went across the shopping center to have lunch and when I was finished eating my phone rang. The Sprint rep had pulled one for me. I ended up getting my phone for nothing out of pocket. She suggested to add a 3rd line to get the phone at the new activation cost, waived the activation fee and billed the cost of the phone to my account which wont post until NEXT month. Sorry to hear about the troubles you guys are having...
I got one from the online store...ordered yesterday at around 10am and it's "out for delivery" from UPS right now. Just in case you haven't checked that out.

And you also got an extra phone bill every month for 2 years for a 3rd line.
EDIT:
While telling people only new/upgrade accounts can get the phone is shady and unethical, I have to admit I wouldn't mind being able to restrict it to that at my store. It sucks selling something and making 0 money off it when the next guy would put some $ in your pocket. But alas, I just sell them to whomever. (assuming I have any in stock lol)

radio shack
I have been going to radio shack here in NYC for sprint stuff. No lines, just walk in and grab an EVO. Everyone goes to the sprint stores, but honestly the radio shack guys on 12th and broadway are super nice. They held a pre for me last year and now hooked me up with the EVO on launch. I saw there were lines at the sprint stores, but no prob at the rat shack.

Everyone goes to the sprint stores, but honestly the radio shack guys on 12th and broadway are super nice. They held a pre for me last year and now hooked me up with the EVO on launch. I saw there were lines at the sprint stores, but no prob at the rat shack.

I was investigating where to get mine from on release day. I am a current customer not eligible for an upgrade. I was going to be buying outright. bestbuy wanted 599 for outright, radio shack wanted 499 outright and sprint wanted 450... I talked to someone at a commission based sprint store and he explained that they were not selling outright because the store made no money off of it. I was a little annoyed, but understood why... plus that store only ordered 15 evos. I then went to radio shack. they told me that they had a very large order and that they would be able to sell me one outright... The day of the release, I woke up at 6 in the morning and headed over to the radio shack that said they would sell it outright. When I got there, the sales rep that I had talked to before appologized to me and told me the regional owner of all my areas radio shacks had sent out an e-mail telling them not to sell outright.... I felt defeated.... I decided to just wait till later and get it when I could. I was driving around my home town around 3 p.m. and drove by the corporate sprint store and decided, why not. I went in, walked right up to a rep, no lines at all, and asked if they by chance had any evos left and that I wanted to buy it outright. he sat me down, walked into the back and walked out with an evo. he told me that after this one they only had 3 left. He explained to me that corporate stores don't make more or less on upgrades or outrights. To finish up this long story, I ended up getting it for 450 from the corporate store in my area. Not all of the stores were turning away outrights. Next time there is a new phone release, I am going back to that store. If any of you are in St. George, Utah, It is the only corporate store there...

Didn't know USPS does guaranteed delivery? They are the slowest shipping out there.. Yeah, they should've used UPS or FedEx for better tracking..
I decided to get myself a nice birthday present in the form of a Nexus 6. Online searches turned up inflated prices and out of stock notices. I know all the carriers sans Verizon ATM carry them but in limited quantities. Right now I'm in BFE Iowa for the holidays. Yay. Nearest carrier store.....30 miles......us cellular. I've never dealt with USC before and never intended to but today I had to. I called to see if they had the 32gb blue model in stock. Put on hold for ten minutes. Kind of on hold anyways. I can hear the girl asking about it like "wtf is that?". Some jumbled crap and a clicky clack and she says yes they have them. Made my way to the store and I walk in and you know how them sales people are all ready to get your signature. I told them I called earlier to pick up a device. The same girl who answered my call went to find the device. Took 15 minutes. Then she asked me to wait in queue to set up service and select a plan. I said no I want to purchase full price no contract. She was very surprised. She said she had never done that before. Two other sales people said the same thing. The last lady to help me also had never done it but did know how. It took over 30 minutes to find the device then figure out how to ring it up full price. Ha ha ha. I thought it was quite ridiculous and funny. Now I have the nexus 6!! Smart device #40-something

For me as a German stories about American Carriers are always interesting. Sure we do have carriers with subsidized phones as well but not as "bad" as in the States.
In 2010, I was living in California for about a year and brought my phone (good old nokia n97 symbian). I first walked into a Verizion or Sprint store (can't remember exactly) and tried to get a regular contract with a sim card only. I was told it's not possible, I would need to purchase a phone as well (wtf?). T-Mobile however was easily able to do it and hooked me up (a German company btw ).
Here, I just pay my monthly bill and buy my phones at full retail price. I still save money compared to contracts including subsidized phones.
Congratulations to your new N6 btw. I hope you'll enjoy it!!
Wall of text may even stop Sparta!
Nice you got them to sell you one though.
Did they have any accessories in store for the phone?
I'm in US Cellular country up here in Maine. I bought my N6 through Motorola and have a Verizon plan, but I walked into the US Cellular store right down my block yesterday to see if they had any accessories. Same thing. The clerks had never heard of it. Then the manager said: "We'll get accessories as soon as it's launched." I told them I was pretty certain it had been launched as it's been available online for a couple of weeks through US Cellular. He just looked at me with a blank stare. Suffice it to say they didn't have any accessories yet!

Yeah I walked in to pick up an N6 today, keeping in mind this is a rather large corporate-owned USCC store in a rather decent sized midwest city, and they only stock the Ballistic case. Fine by me as that's the one I was hoping for, but it's surprising that they only stock one $40 case. Wouldn't have PAID $40 for it, but I had enough points to get it free.
