I saw this question posted in another thread but was never answered. Can I get a confirmation on this please?
Yes it does
good to know...how do I make use of it?
Can anyone else confirm this is possible, and if so, how do I set it up?
I will follow this closely, I use handcent SMS for example and downloaded the "TTS Service extended" but when I tap the " Speak" button for it just saying "Recognizer not available" (In dutch, this is just a bad translation)
I thought it must be working, but sofar I can't get it to work and all my settings are fine further on.
Cheers,
Arnold
It does have this, I have tried it in Handcent, on English, and it works.
Tried Handcent and it said Recognizer not found
Installed VoiceSearch and I seem to have gotten the option. Will try it out in the morning
Jep, described here in "Voice recognition" (I´m not allowed to post links) :-(

I have gone to Notifications/Messaging: New e-mail message, and unchecked the box "Display message on screen." But I still get a notification message on the screen whenever there is an email. How do I stop this? (I've already searched this forum and could not find the answer, although I've seen the question asked before.)
just going to bump this up i have this issue also
yup, same here!
The more annoying one for me is the SMS sent notification.
What OS/ROM are you people using? I have never had this issue with any of the stock or WM6 ROMs I've used.
As for the SMS Sent notification, there are myriad apps that you can use to disable this. SK-Tools is one, but it's not free. HTweakC also has this option, and it is free, but you need to register with the DL site in order to get it.
If you have a Reg Editor, you can set it yourself with the following excerpt from the Wiki:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMsg"=dword:00000001 ->0 to enable, 1 to disable.Note ... the Wiki page I'm referring to is here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Registry

And it also has information about, and a link for HTweakC.

[EDIT] As an afterthought, I realized that I DO have phoneAlarm installed, and I believe that I get better control over the notifications with that tool. Maybe this is why I don't experience this issue? [/EDIT]
Pvs, thanks for your reply. I have a Cingular 8525. It has had this problem from the time of original purchase--two months ago--using the stock configuration that comes out of the box. I recently upgraded to the new ROM on the HTC website, but I am not using WM 6 or anything like that. I still get a notification message on the screen whenever there is an email, even though I have unchecked the box "Display message on screen" under Notifications/Messaging: New e-mail message.
@Tim1234: FWIW, I used Sounds & Notifications to turn my screen notification for emails off (I typically leave it on), and it worked as its supposed to. At this point, I'm not sure how to solve your (and obviously others) problems with this.
Just to make sure ... you ARE talking about the bubble that appears at the bottom of the screen, right? You are NOT referring to the icon that appears on the top command bar. If it's the icon at the top, I don't think there's a way to disable it...though I may be wrong.
FWIW, I am currently using one of the WM6 ROMs, but I don't believe that is the issue.
Maybe someone else will chime-in with some other info. Sorry I could not be more help.

Yes I am talking about the bubble that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Have you found a solution for your question?
Ciao,
DeepThought
no I have not!
Hi,
So I searched the forums and found no answer so I'm asking here.
I'm looking for an application that will send a message at any time you want it to. So for example you could write the message ahead of time, set the time and day for someones birthday let's say and then leave it be and when the time comes it sends automatically.
Anyone know of an app out there that does this?
Thanks
Apparently - though I've not tried it myself - the O2SMSPLus utility will allow the sending of scheduled SMS messages.
Have a read of THIS - the last post contains a download link.
Hope that helps,
Mark.
Thanks.
Scheduling sms messages. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for but the app just doesn't work on my device.
Nothing happens when I try to start it.
You don't say what device you've got, but judging by your location, your mobile operator and the forum you posted in, I'm gonna guess it's a Vario II?? If that's the case, it should work.....
OK, did you soft reset after installing it? If you did, have you tried the "workaround" in the second post of the thread I was referring to - i.e. copy the .EXE somewhere else, uninstall the O2SMSPlus utility, soft reset and then try running it from where you copied it...???
If you've tried all of those, then it looks like you're back to a Google search
Cheers,
Mark.
I've searched and can't find a simple text to speech program. I'm looking for something to read emails/text msg's, web pages, or highlighted text. I found one software (can't remember the name) but it only speaks copied text and some files. Any ideas?

FLite
I don't know if this is the one you have already tried, but it might help:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-flite-v1-3.html
it's not free, but try Fonix Voice Central - it reads any text, including the text of received emails.

I use a prog by :Smartysoft - smartread. It's commercial now, but the older version is free. I find it works well for me.

And vice versa?
there is any program that can turn voice to text?

Thanks, I downloaded and tried. Works pretty good for voice commands, however I couldn't figure out how to get it to read emails or txt msg's. Still trying some other versions to see what's out there. Thanks for all the replies so far

Heey everyone,
I am using Vito Sms-Chat on my HTC Touch but i don't get a delivery notification after sending a message. Does anyone know if it's possible to get one and if so, how to do so?
Thanx a lot in advance!
Lau
Seems like this would be a better question to ask VITO. Did you check the manual?
I've seen this discussed in other forums and as far as I know there is no solution to the problem yet. Manually editing the registry to change sent notifications doesn't work. It's something in the program itself that disables the notification. You can, however, visually tell onscreen whether the message has been sent or not. As the message is sending, the icon next to the message is orange. Once it has been sent the icon turns blue.
Hmm, yeah i can only see if it's being sent or not. Well that's at least something! I contacted Vito about it but they just reply with 'download the latest version of the program' which doesn't solve the problem.
Thanx for ur replies anyway!

Indeed, and if it's not sent, it turns red
I have no problem sending SMS with my touch dual 16 key.
Im testing the Vito SMS chat now and I love it, there are a few problems though.
1.) Does not work with the slide out keypad
2.) Does not work with the software touch keypad
So I use the software touch keyboard, so its a two handed job all the time.
3.) It moves all the SMS to a different folder.
So vito needs to work on these three things.
and if they can add:
-SMS Predefined groups.

can i have a vito sms chat i want to try its thanks

No problem. HERE you can find Vito SMS Chat!
It already has one but works differently. When you send your message, you will see the message "sending" icon by it. When it is sent, the icon will change to the "sent" icon. This is basically your delivery notification.
EDIT: whoah this is definitely an old thread... whoops.

You might want to use PM for this request!!!
The title pretty much explains it, is there a registry change that can allow mail flicked through in the preview in the HTC email app to be marked as read instead of clicking on to them to go to the full message?
Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find anything when searching, thanks for your help.
+1 please!
Having to open it up in WM is annoying and pointless, why can it not be like SMS's??
Anyone ever find an answer to this? Got a TMoUS version yesterday, and it's really my only gripe with the device.
+1 from me as well. That would be an excellent feature.
Yes please!
count me as another!
Would like to know this too its quiet annoying having to open the email.
and also... either make it look like sms, either make the fonts smaller (or the "page" wider)
There's a Cab on here which gives you option (within the email client) to "Mark all messages as read", which is handy.
And huzzah! I think this is it...
