Black Mogul

Has anyone else seen one of these, and is as pissed about it as I am. Alltel is getting the mogul with a black case and I want one oh so badly, but considering I switched from alltel's **** service to begin with I am not gonna go back. Think it is possible to get a hold of some black case plastic parts and swap them minus the softkeys on the front?

I've actually had one for a few months now They're pretty stylin if I say so myself.

just wait a little while. verizon is buying alltel, so you might be able to pick up the alltel mogul and have verizon add the ESN to their database.

I know that I had seen a website selling the casings, even a Sprint branded black one. I don't really remember the site, though I think I read about it on ppcgeeks. I'll post here if I find anything.

I have an all black one with no branding, its a pre-prod case with new hardware

that was the most irritating loading screen ever... looking at it, i wanted to punch someone in the face.

im looking for the link as well... i know its SOMEWHERE... i had it... about a month ago... there is a site that sells the black shells for the moguls WITHOUT branding...
The 1 DOWNFALL to this site and the shells is... NO GPS ANTENNA...
BUT!!! if your going to replace your shell ANYWAY you should be EASILY able to remove the one from your stock shell and place it into the black one.. (i cannot remember if it has the plastic fittings but super glue or super thin sticky tape will work just as well)

You can sand down the ppc6800 stock housing and it will become black. Problem is you cannot sand it down where icons are painted.
I am thinking of doing it when I get some free time but I am not sanding down the buttons.

I would looooooooove one of those -- I'd gladly pay $50 for it

I Like the DEV Phones Glossy Keyboard, looks good on it. Although that does mean smudges out of this world lol. Have you looked into getting that design inscribed on the back of your cover?

Concerning back covers.
I have already ordered one from HTC to replace my grey one with a black one. Unfortunately they didnt have the white UK one. Why not order a replacement for 15 dollars and have it sent out and painted? I am sure it can't be more than 50 dollars when finished.

Finally? This was posted at least one week ago. They don't seem to answer my emails so I don't know what to think. I find the replacements very expensive as well specially the digitizer. Personally find it very hard to wreck the LCD without wrecking the digitizer, which in that case will be very expensive to replace, over 360$. And that's if you replace the parts yourself.
Oh well It's good someone has these replacements parts but the screen has been on Ebay for much less, still no sign of the digitizer.

Sorry my phone has been out of commission for a while and decided to check the other day for parts and ran up on them. Decided to post the links...Oh well. I bought my bro's broken g1 for 50 bucks and put his screen in mine. Not sure what is wrong with his goes straight to the recovery mode and some keys dont work.

No problem. Good you managed to open the internals of your device. I can't remove the housing from the back.

Is it hard to take the g1 apart and put it back together. I scratched the housing and was thinking bout getting a replacement and transferring everything. But im scared i might mess sumthing up.

That sounds like a ripoff to me. You can get a decent 22" LCD for that price.

UK Sim Free Hero not White With Warranty???

Anybody know where I can get a Sim Free Hero in Black or Graphite (not White of Brown) in the uk with a valid warranty?
My HD was stolen at the weekend so am looking for a sim free one which my insurance will pay out on as a replacment, and keep my existing contract (vodafone)
Don't want White as I'm worried it'll look filthy dirty in no time at all, and Brown yuk sorry just not for me
I know I can get unlocked orange/tmobile ones off of ebay but the warrantys will be no good

The white one isn't that liable to get dirty, it's teflon coated partly to protect it. I've had mine a month or so and I've been using it like a normal phone, in and out of the pocket, down the pub etc. and it's still white and shiny!
You can also get full body skins for them in other colours, which might help if you aren't able to get a different colour one.

Seconded on the white one, I've had mine for a 4 or 5 weeks, got bacon, mud and biro on it (not all at once...) and it still looks excellent. It's a really nice white as well, more like milk than paper. Yummy.

played with if for an hour or so and I love it!
so easy to set up and use, it's just brilliant so much better than my HD, almost glad it was Stolen now

as long as they are unlocked correctly (by t-mobile or orange) then there is no effect on the warranty whatsoever. It's only when you start changing ROMs that the warranty is affected.
as for them being SIM free, not in the UK you won't. The black and graphite are network exclusives in the UK. Course, that might be different on the continent....

anyone notice the green mytouch logo on mew commercial?

i own a white mytouch and i noticed the white model has a green mytouch logo on the back instead of the normal silver one. they show it very quickly after whoopi, phil jackson, and jesse james pass off the phones. anyone know if these are coming out of the box like this or if theres a place to order them? tmobile.com doesnt have any and i didnt see any on ebay. looks pretty sharp.

thanks for the reply but i dont think that is correct. to make the logo on the back portion of the phone a different color i doubt tmobile would use a wallpaper from the phone and photo shop it if it was simply for the commercial's sake...they simply could have altered the color during the editing process. and the logo on the back of the handset doesnt match up perfectly with the one from the wallpaper. the "my" is identical but the "touch" is directly underneath (on the wallpaper) whereas the logo on the handset is a full circle with nothing underneath the "my" im going to check it out at the tmobile store tomorrow. ask them if they have the green back logo on their handsets.
i get the feeling it might just be done for the commercial and all handsets will come with the standard silver mytouch logo.
