So, when i turn on the phone, the G-sensor/Gyrator are working pretty well. But when i make a phone call or answer one there's something going on afterwards. When i open an application and rotate the phone to landscape, the app automatically is closed and i'm stuck to the home screen (when restarted everything is back to normal till the next call). This is really annoing when browsing the net. Any suggestions?

do not use GSEN
I have experienced a similar problem with SMS. I currently have Gyrator installed.
When i open a SMS and rotate the phone to landscape and try to use the keyboard, the app automatically closes and i'm stuck in the home screen.
I don't experience any other problems with other apps, just SMS & Email
This is really starting to annoy me.
I have checked WIKI which quotes
Simple enough, you could disable all rotation, then just use the "Windows Title" provided by Gyrator and select SMS and email tab (or others apps you wanted to rotate), add event and enable, then go rock with your Landscape full qwerty when typing SMS and emails.

Can someone explain this a little for me?

Hi,
I have exactly the same issue.
WWE HD device.
gyrator2
after reset everything back to normal....
I stopped using Gyrator because I also got infrequent problems which seemed to be caused by this.
I now use AEB Plus with double press on the OK button to rotate the screen. I personally find this the simple way to rotate as I don't often need the rotate.
I disabled all rotation in Gyrator.
Then I only enabled the rotation for sms/mms, mail, tomtom, and just a few others.
Set the polling rate to 2 seconds.
It works oke now, except for the incoming call problem.
Thanks for the infos, i tried reinstalling the gyrator, made a phone call and everything was normal.

Mine is the same.
Exceed: You havn't found anything that could help us out here?
No, mate, it just happend after i reinstalled the app. I don't know how and why.
Don't know what I did, but havn't had the problem for almost a whole day now...
Will update when I know more details.
Solved;
It was the 'darklord' coloured icons top bar cab file that caused the rotate to loose its focus.
I removed it and it worked.
Pitty that I don't see the percentages of the battery live not anymore...
with regards.
Hey there,
I have a question about a possible Android bug that has had its annoyance on me for quite a while now. Sometimes when I wanna type something into a text box and it doesn't show up whatsoever in the text box at all. I feel the vibrations of the keys while I'm typing, and I also seen that the dictionary recommends and corrects words right on top of the keyboard as if I'm actually typing, but nothing shows up in the text box, I usually have to wait three to four minutes before it goes back to normal and it starts showing the letters I type in the text box, I use a different keyboard other then the default Android one, but the same thing also happens with that keyboard as well. It has never done this before and started about one month ago, my HTC Legend is obviously rooted and I currently run a Stock ROM of Android 2.2, is this a known bug? Is there a fix for it? Thanks for the help.
thats sounds like your legend lags.... does it help after freeing the ram? eg. using task killer...
That used to happen to me as well but only while typing in landscape mode. When I'd transfer back to portrait it would be fine. Usually closing the app I was using would fix everything. Since I started using smart keyboard pro I only use portrait mode so don't even know if it happens anymore lol
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Hey guys thanks for the help, I also use Smart Keyboard Pro and it even happens on that keyboard as well, I have a task killer and exit the app, and close all apps via the task killer but no luck, it usually needs a few minutes and it starts working fine. But I'll see about the landscape and portrait mode. Thanks for the help again guys.
If it bugs you that much try flashing another ROM. That sounds exactly like a bad case of lag, as psyionx suggested. It would be worth it!
I have a weird problem with my A500, the touch screen works perfectly but in Portrait View, specifically on rotating it to the right side - The screen area on the bottom where the home, exit and notifications area is just doesnt respond to the touch.
I guess this has something to do with the resolution or something.
Any fixes guys, any help on this will be deeply appreciated.
P.S - Amazing developer work by the XDA Team on the A500, Thank you guys!

Can you tell us what version you're running? Have you loaded a custom ROM, stock, etc?
I am running 3.2 Taboonay (latest) ROM. This has been a problem since the factory 3.0.
Also, this is a HUGE problem for me as, if some application doesnt open in Landscape and is only for the Portrait Orientation, then I cannot exit the Application as there are no hardware buttons to close the app so the last resort is to restart. I really need a fix for this, help me out. Thanks!
If you can't find any way to fix the issue, there's an app in the market called Button Savior that has soft buttons you can use.
Sent from my A500 using xda premium
Sounds like maybe a problem with the digitizer. Have you contacted acer about it?
Sent from my A500
@ TechPlease Thanks Button Savior works perfectly.
@DARKMAN I will do that, I thought it was a software problem.
Thanks a lot!
i've had AOKP build 4 flashed on my Nexus 7 since it was released on Sept.30.
all of a sudden yesterday, i noticed that nothing would allow me to change the screen orientation. i checked and double checked, i have that setting enabled.
for example, if i'm in portrait mode on the home screen, open up Chrome, i can not change the orientation to landscape.
but, if i launch a game, where it forces the orientation to landscape, i am now stuck in landscape mode. if i open up Chrome, i can't change it to portrait.
i've tried clearing data and cache of Nova Launcher. tried to lock down orientation then enable it. but nothing is working.
has anyone come across something like this before?

My Advice, try the re-calibration thing, lay it flat on a desk and calibrate it.
Ensure the lock is enabled, and then try again.
If this doesn't help, I read somewhere a while back that this works, but I don't get how:
lay the phone flat on a table, spin it 3 times. Put it on it's side, spin it 3 times. Hold it up on one end, spin it 3 times.
Weird but works (APPARANTLY)!
cool, thank you for the info, but i think i'm missing something. how do i calibrate it?
i have screen rotate locked/disabled on a flat surface. then i tried to unlock/enable it (while still on a flat surface), and it still doesn't rotate.

No you need to re-calibrate the gyro sensor, Im not with my tab so I can't quite remember where it is. Go to settings, and just have a look round, untill you can find the calibration of the gyro sensor.
No worries btw, glad to help
i still think i'm totally missing something. i can't find anything in the settings to re-calibrate it.
however, i did setup Z - Device Test and within the accelerometer and gyroscope testing shows that movement is being detected.
ok, something is totally messed up.
i just flashed Cyanogenmod monthly-2, did a full wipe cache and dalvik, and factory reset from CWM.
and my screen is still not rotating.
i'm totally clueless now.
I am on CM10 grouper latest build my home screen wont rotate, the apps and settings rotate only the home screen and apps drawer wont rotate.
Any ideas anyone?
Edit: Got it to work, I was using Nova launcher and by default its not enabled. Nova Launcher- Look and Feel - enable auto rotate. You need to enable both in system settings and nova settings. Silly of me :-\

thank you for the link. i download a binary file from here..
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers#grouper
but i have no idea what to do with it.
on a side note, i'm wondering why this all of a sudden stopped working tho? AOKP's build 4 was doing it before the release of 4.1.2, but then just stopped. i don't understand why i need to manually do something that was working from the beginning. especially within apps. i can't get the screen to rotate in Chrome, GMail, Reader, Twitter, etc. i can care less about the home screen rotation.
[UPDATE]
so i was downloading different apps- mainly games trying to test out the rotation to see if that is buggy too, and i came across this app...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsInphdXNhbi56ZGV2aWNldGVzdCJd
with this, i was able to test the Gyroscope and Accelerometer sensors and i noticed the blue axis (z-axis?) was not moving at all.
i then gave a few door knocks on the back plate, and all of a sudden the z-axis jumps to the correct view.
somehow it got stuck in place, but it seems to be working now. very odd. i've never dropped it. don't know how this could have happened.

Well first of all stop banging on it, it has nothing to do with that. I've noticed there was something either added or removed from AOSP that causes this after the 4.1.2 update last week. Most people who are compiling locally probably noticed this... any others that have it working are just proof of the excessive kanging nowadays... since they're all probably a kang of AOKP or CM (who of which I'm sure identified it and corrected it in their git).
I haven't had time to look into it yet but I'd assume its related to Launcher2.apk. Look in Launcher2 in the AndroidManifest.xml and see if there's a line with something like:
android:screenOrientation="nosensor"
Click to collapse
...you want that to be set to either "sensor" or "user"... I cant recall right now.
Did you try editing the build.prop file yet? If it is in fact related to the sensors then I dont think this will correct it anyway, but it's worth a shot. Go to your /system dir and mount is r/w, edit build.prop by adding this to the very end, on its own line:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true

...save that, close it, then reboot and see what ya got. If it doesn't work then you know its Launcher2 not enabling the sensors. I'll post again once I look at it and fix it.

thanks for all the info.
i'm not the type to mess with the files. but as i mentioned, i wasn't on 4.1.2 yet when this started happening. AOKP build 4 was based on 4.1 or 4.1.1. and would it be possible for a file to make the z-axis jarred in one direction? then when placing some force to the back of the device jump it back in place?
i haven't had any issues since then. i am now able to rotate the screen at will.

I'm having this problem now too. Just in the last 2 days.
I have a completely stock 2013 N7. It gets stuck in an orientation, and locked there. I have checked all the settings, and auto rotate is on.
I downloaded the Android Sensor Box, and something is fishy with the orientation hardware. One axis of the sensor is locked to one side and won't move.
Hey guys ,I'm facing a nasty problem, the touch of my phone (nexus 4), not working, not whole screen, but the part of the navigation bar, even in recovery mode. Until yesterday I was reading a book, touch the bottom of the screen worked fine, but ... well, I'm on Nexus 5 experience (Stock Kernel), I try to go back to stock and lock the bootloader, I fear that I shall take shall be authorized and it is very annoying to me. anyone had or has knowledge of this problem? I know how to solve?

Oh man, I think I'll restore everything, lock the bootloader and take the tour, I think it ridiculous, the problem is in the phone hardware, factory, so it's their problem, what do I install or not install on my phone not change at all ... I'll try some roms to see if the problem changes ... Good luck with your problem too :\
OK, here's a little story that just happened:
I enabled dt2w today. So I've been playing around for a while, browsing, watching videos and stuff. When in the play store I used the swipe gesture to open the menu and was surprised nothing happened. I tried several times, it just wouldn't work. Back on the home screen (info: I've set it so the screen rotates in all angles and the navbar is always on the bottom) I was in landscape mode and was surprised again because the navbar would not react. So I rotated to portrait and it worked.
So I launched the phone tester app and used the multi touch test to check my whole screen and found that to the left and right side there was a blind spot from top to bottom about 0,5cm in width.
When thinking what could have possibly caused this I disabled dt2w, locked the screen, unlocked it and used the multi touch teat again. Alas, the blank spots were gone!
I'm not sure if this is helpful for you though as you use the stock kernel.
