Upload to Picasa

Hi
I see that you can upload photos from the camera app to Facebook but is there anyway of tweaking the phone to upload to Picasa or do I need a 3rd party app to do this?
If the latter is the answer, what apps are available?

I use Shozu but would like to see a better implementation as well.

I would too be interested in this. in some promotional videos from HTC for Hero I saw Flickr integration in the same way HD2 integrates wth Facebook in HTC albums. That would be very cool.

[Q] Low Resolution Contact Pictures...

I have done some searching but was not able to find any answers. I have been using Android pretty much exclusively these days. I noticed that when I sync my contacts with my Facebook account it adds pictures to the contacts, just like windows mobile. The difference though is that on Windows mobile the pictures are nice and clear. On Android the pictures look very low res and very blurry. It seems like it is using the same picture on the little thumbnail on the as it is on the picture during a phone call.
Does anybody have any thoughts on how to fix this?

Same here for disappointment with contact pics resolution, I'm not Facebook sync'ing but selected the contact photo's using the gallery app. I'm sure they were good quality when I first set them, but on reboot they are much lower quality.
I was thinking this was an issue with the way we're running Android, via the SD? Can't think why, but I don't believe this could be a generic Android issue (surely).

I got this exact same question this morning.
Use friend stream that's Included on htc sense.
I believe the pictures are actually better.

Still no answer? I believe the issue still exists. My profile pics are low res. On WM6.5 and WindowsPhone the pics are high-res and very nice.
Any thoughts?

There is an app called sync my pics it is on the market download it and sync your contact pictures on wifi..

This has probatly to do with the Exchange protocol, and how Google uises it. This is for WP7, but should also work for Android... At least; the second part;
1. Log into your Google account
2. Settings --> General (1st tab)
3. Under "Contacts' pictures" select "Only show pictures that I've chosen for my contacts"
4. Save, exit

With NAND Desire HD build i got same problems...
but now i use mdj cyanogenmod 2.4 and pro launcher but i dont see facebook pictures from my contacts in the "person" widget from pro launcher?? What to do?

Bump. This issue is intolerable. I would like to link my phone contacts to FB and Gmail, but still be able to use my high-resolution photos of them. They get overwritten every time by either FB or Google.
There has to be a fix somewhere, I'll keep looking.

registering interest in a solution

I use the Full Screen Called ID App. works wonders, if u dont want full screen images to show when people call, just disable its appearance in the option settings. you can set it to use that contacts facebook display pic as their contact picture, although for people that ring often, I set a preffered picture of choice

Facebook sync in galxy tab

Hi guys
i just bought my galaxy tab and spent last one hour playing it. I have choose galaxy tab over ipad just because its size that it comparatively handy.
I am a HTC desire user and i am very obsessed by the HTC desire Facebook integration. I couldn't find same functionality in galaxy tab. Could you please help me to find out how can i get following functioanalities.
1. How can i get Facebook widget like HTC has where can i see my friends update?
2. How can i get Facebook sync with my friends contacts like HTC. I can see my Facebook contacts but i want them to link with my Google accounts?
3. How can i get contacts widget like HTC in galaxy tab where can i see their Facebook profiles pics?

Short answer: you need to spend some more time with it LOL
Install FB app from market. It will ask if you want to sync Contact, say yes. Hit your tab by holding down the finger and select add Widget, you should see FB there. Add it then change the refresh settings to your liking.

I have this same issue. THe sync with Samsung is HORRIBLE. Contact photos do not sync well, links cant be established properly and IF you can link contacts, you can't choose to use say FB's contact photo?? WTF.
Even Windows Mobile 6.5 was better than this! I could click on a contact... in options, choose link to FB contact and viola. GReat especially when some people don't like to use real or full names on FB and use different email addresses for work and social. After that, you could even hold down over the contact photo and then choose to use FB photo, something from the callery or even take a photo!
I used syncmypic to try do this and it helped a little but it still wont work fully.
Also... even if you manage to link contacts manually, you can't choose to use FB photo if there already is a photo for your contact... annoying and poorly thought out...

I use dolphin hd and the desktop user agent add on I only have the fb app just for the share pics and youtube option

I get many of my contact pictures from Facebook via SyncMyPix or I just use photos Iäve taken with the camera.
First, the quality of the photos are great, top notch an everything, BUT, I sync my contacts with Google and it looks like Google makes my contactphotos look like ****e when they get synced...
Is there any way to leave out photosync or something? I want my contact pictures to look good ;(

this happens because google saves the contact image in a smaller size to use less space, and no matter what's the resolution on the display pic, after restoring the contacts from google, you'll end up with those crappy images.
the only solution i have found to be working is, you need to sync your contacts with facebook and Facebook with HTC Sense, both and then use the display image that's synced with Facebook with HTC Sense
Here's How : After syncing your contacts, when you edit your contact, Tap on the display image and set the one that's from Facebook with HTC Sense. This displays the image in its proper resolution.

If I use pics from my phone, I just click edit and click on the pic and choose phone.this will make the pic look great.the first time you sync it might change so do the same steps I mentioned above and you'll get great pics for your contacts

[Q] facebook and twitter

hi i have already posted a similar thread to this one but didnt get any satisfactory answers or solutions, hopefully this time some one can HELP me
my Facebook (the HTC sense built in application facebook) does not download any pictures to my phone at all - no contact pictures or pictures from albums of my friends on facebook. even the FBcontact folder in windows is empty. my phone is sync with my facebook account, i dont have my contact sync with outlook so i dont see what is wrong with it. DOES ANY ONE KNOWS WHAT COULD GO WRONG?
also, my Twitter - the Peep app will not allow me to log in. every time i try to log in a window pops up that says that i have entered a wrong username and password wich i didnt. if i try to install the peep hotfix a window pops up again the says that the hot fix is not for my phone.
i have installed the lates vodafone ROM 1.41.161.1 WWE
i made HARD RESET once but nothing had changed
anybody knows what can i do to make it work again? if any ideas please reply

prob facebook : close FB app. go to default web browser (Opera or IE )and choose option enable view photo.go to FB app

Have you tried with a standard Web browser? eg. opera login to Facebook and see if there showing pictures? because I think the problem is in the settings

i dont think it is the web browser. not sure now if u know for sure what i was talking about. it is the BUILT IN SENSE FACEBOOK APP mate. when i go to all PEOPLE and try to link a contact with a facebook contact the picture will not be downloaded. it will show a down arrow wich is suppose to mean that the pic is being downloaded but this down arrow is ment to be in a ring or something. mine isnt. its just a down arrow wich dissaper after a second or two. just seems like the pic get lost somewhere in a 2nd dimension lol
the contacts are linked (phone and facebook) but the pics to them are missing. the same when i try to open a facebook album from a linked contact, the pic wont be shown, downloaded.

maybe u can try downloading the latest FB app, V1.1.0.26, search for it in the marketplace..

Facebook : disable https on your facebook account
Twitter : i have the same problem, the hot fix doesnt install. I wrote to htc and they said "try to uninstall and install it again"
I hope they release a fix for twitter and for https on facebook soon...
