guys do we have any kind of softwear that we can use to chat with the blackberry ( bbm) and what's app for iphone
Text Messaging
LOL!!! You want to use BBM without a BB!? LOL
If you want BBM get a Blackberry and no one here is going to help you with the iphone.
I'm more interested as to why this might be urgent...!
if this is so urgent, there's a 7 or 10 digit number you can dial to gasp... speak with the person in real time, or use the same 7 or 10 digit number to txt them lol
I want to know what this guy is doing in a HD2 tmobile forum asking about black berry software for an iphone he must be a real Genius, and better yet why he thinks this is urgent for us. i think this should be deleted
she doesn't like you anyway so just stop now.
don't say i didnt warn u
I have heard you can actually message someone anywhere in the world that is using a blackberry via the blackberry messenger since it is over the blackberry web service or something. Kind of a neat feature. But since every blackberry has their own email address, and since HD2s are capable of sending email then I am pretty sure that sending an email would be the best way to go on this one, champ.
Closing thread as it appears to have nothing to do with the HD 2.

This app will be for all wm devices.
This is an ongoing project that is in need of some of you guys expertise. The rom of the treo 750v has been dumped and is in need of hacker and developers. The treo 750v has features that NO OTHER wm device does. Like the threaded sms messaging, which is sms in a chat style form.
http://www.palm.com/sg/products/smar...messaging.html is a little more about how it works and what it does.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279758 is a thread in the xda-treo forum, but I feel need to be here due to the fact that it will be for all wm devices and is in need of developers and hackers.
Attached is the rom dump.
Thanks, Cody
in many countries you pay pr. sms much more then you'd pay to send text over grps so for most ppl msn, skype or other IM clients would do the same thing only much cheaper
I am really not sure what the hype is about. Haven't used SMS in a long time a with 100MB data package, I have to agree with Rudegar even the built in MSN messenger is better.
Any way I thought you should know that what you posted is not a ROM dump and cannot be used to extract the app.
Interesting you say that. If you have kids sms messaging is almost a requirement. It is extremely popular with the younger generation. I find myself using it more and more. I have friends that send over 3k sms messages in a month. A threaded sms app sure makes it a much better experience.
The rom dump thread was moved by someone over to the treo section for those wondering where it went. The dump is on the ftp server.
ftp.xda-developers.com
userid: xdaupload pw: xda
file: treo750vrompartial_bcaslis.zip (dump of Part00, Part01 and Part02 partitions)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279758
I played with the rom dump yesterday. The messaging app does load, just seems to be missing some resources and/or registry entries that I'm not prepared to import right now (test machines all being used already).
It also appears to be fixed at 240x240, although that can probably be fixed later.
The rest of the rom - doesn't contain many intersting .exes, but I know hannip is interested in a number of the other devices and drivers installed. They don't appear to be device specific (c.f. many eten files are).
In the UK, data contracts are very expensive, and you get loads of SMS bundled in your contracts, so SMS makes sense. I don't IM from my phones. But both have their uses.
But I still can't see the fascination with threaded SMS. It'd be quite straight forward to program even if the treo app can't be sucked out.
V
PS Whoever dumped the roms to begin with, many thanks!
However, we may need to get an overview of the databases on the device as well, in case there are any custom databases. The speed dial plugin that has thus far been elusive relies on a call db. Either a device backup (using sprite etc) or a database dump would be useful to check. Just a guess, might lead to nothing.
Thanks vijay for all of your assistance! Good to hear that the sms app loads. I've been trying to get the a2dp dll's to work on my treo 700wx and 700w devices just to get my feet wet. Having some issues getting the dll's to load, but with your help I might figure this out yet.
The excitement for the 750 sms app over the other threaded sms apps out there is the clean integration with the os and today screen. I've tried other sms threader apps and they are buggy, don't grab messages when the pda is suspended, and leave copies of sms messages in poutlook. The one from triangle powers is a .net app and loads extremely slow because of it. It is expected that the palm written app will solve all of these problems. Plus it handles mms pictues, audio etc.
i dont say i dont use sms i just say i use sms as sms's as in short message service msg's
not as chat because i dont see the point of using it as chat
of cause if you dont pay pr. each sms
and want to chat with somebody who dont have msn it's usefull i guess
but another issue is the delay if that person is on a different network then you heard that compeating phone companys are not always too snappy to route to eachother

Well, I'm someone who wants the SMS chat program badly.
Understand, it's not so much that you use like an IM program, you don't.
This is just a method by which to organize your SMS conversations e.g. say you and your friend over the day send back and forth to each other 20 messages, all releated to the same thing. Now throw in 15 more random SMS from other peopel in the same day. Your inbox would be a mismash of 20 something messages (assuming you don't delete every single one, maybe there is important info you need).
This program would "group" your SMS into a single "chat style thread", like and IM history would. You can then just delete the entire thread at once when you are done with it. It's also nice to keep that previous information handy, especially if your discussing plans, information, phone numbers etc. You just scroll up to find it again.
If you're a heavy texter, this is a great way to organize your back-and-forth conversations. It's not an IM replacment, so don't think of it as that.
In my case I use it as a compliment to AIM. I have AIM forwarding all of my IM's to my cell phone when I am away. That way my friends and family can msgs me anytime anywhere. My phone/pda can remain in suspend mode conserving the battery and I still get my IM's. I can reply to them just like an IM session. No need for the AIM client on my phone.
The best thing about using sms over an IM client is that you can communicate with anyone that has a cell phone. You don't have to tell someone to register with an IM server to send them messages. It works in suspend mode. With a nice sms chat app the only advantage an IM client has over it is the messages are more instantaneous. But for phone use that is acceptable imo.
Of course this all assumes you don't have to pay on a per sms basis.
Hi! theloanranger said he extracted the 750v threaded app already. It's at:

Can somebody try it and post the screenshots please? I'm so looking forward to using it with my Pocket Loox T830 (not arrived yet)

NOTE: Some of us are having issues. We CANNOT send an SMS to an email address. We get an error message:
"Could not send message. The message center number or the email center number is invalid. Please contact the wireless operator."
Now, in the SMS app, if you go to Menu --> Options --> Advanced tab
Network Configuration/Manual/Edit...
You'll see spots for "message center number" and "email center number" and both are blank. When you put in a number (such as found here: http://www.smsfre.com/SMS-Mesaging-Centers.htm ) they do not stick after hitting "OK".
Any help/ideas?
Does anyone know of a way to disable text messaging on the XV 6800? I dont use the feature and I get a ton of spam messages for some reason...Thanks in advance.
JK24
Anyone??? Even a registry setting to disable it woule be helpful...
JK24
Somebody has to have some sort of fix for me...I am tired of getting spam text messages...Not sure how they got my phone number...I didnt sign up for anything and never give my phone number out except to family and co workers...Somebody please help!!!
The only thing I can think of is to call Verizon and ask them to disable SMS messaging for sometime at least. See if they can block the numbers the spam comming from. Last resort is change your number. Providers are not very helpful when it comes to cell phone spam.
You don't want to really disable texts for good do you? That kinda defeats the purpose of the titan. How will you receive links and such from 411's and friends and links for programs? Man when I like to update things like google maps, skyfire, live search I go online and they send me the link immediately. Spam is going to happen whatever number you have. I think if you don't want texts you should sell your mobile, I have some old phones lying around that dont do texts.
Give this app a look see. It may be worth your while.

almost every other day for about 1.5 weeks now i keep getting an SMS from some random 3 - 5 digit number containing what appears to be an email address
the last message was yesterday from 3510 and the email address in it is [email protected]/ /
anyone else get these messages? anyone know who is sending them? or how can i make them stop... i have unlimited messages but i dont like receiving them.
help please!
I dont think this goes in this forum, but ive gotten the message about 3 times since I got my G1, which was like a week ago and I wanna know what its from too.
Seems to be something relating to Verizon picture sharing and nothing to do with Dream.
Moved to Dream forum although as said above this isn't a dream issue.
The number is T-Mobile, that is how the forward emails to your phone. Try sending an email to *your phone number*@tmomail.net
And again it sounds like a verizon wireless customer is trying to send you a picture... or you sent a picture to a verizon wireless customer and it was rejected.
If you want to stop this then you can block emails in my.t-mobile.com there is an email area that allows you to block email messages.
i have a friend that sends me lots of pics and he has verizon so that makes sense.
since i didnt know it was related to verizon i figured i'd ask the guys/gals that have the same phone that i do... (dream)
thanx for clearing that issue up for me. and thanx to the devs on this site for doing great work for us who cant...
lol. heheh reminds me of when i used to do sms bombing and all the receiver would see was a four digit number + a random email i used and my message. i did it to my friends a few times but it got boing after a while. And Yes i know this is not your case.
Actually it is only a g1 problem, t mobile says it is working on a fix.

I don't quite believe what is said in the story but do believe it may be specific to the G1... then again these can be coming from apps you installed, wasn't there one that signed your number up for some spam thing?

No, its not related to any apps, because the day I bought my G1 and set it up, I recieved one of those messages before installing any apps.
Hmmm... that is weird. I haven't received anything unsolicited on my phone.... well besides texts from people I rather not speak to anymore LOL
A slightly different explanation is given here at message 8 of 10:

wow
holy crap thats real bad. Thats some privacy issues out the window. You send it to one person and a few hundred thousand get it lol now thats a chain letter.
i am hurting so badly right now at the concept of not being able to get google voice on this.
UNBELIEVABLE..this is just horrible. And i trully believe they wont make a native app for it..like a tablet version as verizon has said this is not capable of text messages.
UPDATE: EVERYONE i created a official google forum request for this amazing app to be used. PLEASE JOIN and voice you opinion on it being needed, WE WILL GET AN ANSWER!!!
thread with google forum is here! Cheers!

Set the texts to go to email. You can respond via email as well.
I still cannot convert completely to Google Voice as you cannot get picture messages.
Yea you can get your texts, but where do your friends send you a pic to?

I know it sucks but for now have them send MMS to email.
picture mms
heres the thing, i ported my number, saved a boat load of money, managed to have all my friends send me pictures through gmail. its more conveneint anyways.
all in all google voice is amanzing and i heavily use it, if you read up on all it can do (and ..its ALOT)
i refuse to believe this is happening and google cant utilize its tablet market..it would be suuuuch a win. also i do believe mms will happen eventually as this is the last year that their service is considered...free...so hmmm
jesus i need a xoom google voice app, and a crack rock
Have you tried side loading the Google voice app? If so does it just FC when you try to open it?

Yes and yes. No worky.
i tried going off my app purchas history doesnt work
You could always do the e-mail thing, and create a new gmail specifically for the texts. IE. [email protected] or w/e, then you can have pictures sent there, and you can use the gmail widget basically as a text app, since you're e-mailing you're texts back you should be able to send mms right through the e-mail, then you really don't have to worry about having a voice app, and got a cool widget for your texts.
I might do that now that i think about it.
I am mad about the lack of Xoom support also, but where theirs a will, there is a way.
raddude, smart move but i dont think i have the stomach for another email addy. im so in tune with texting via computer off my google voice and how smooth it is from there to my nexus. i want to say i believe in google and see some how..some way..a jump over verizon's limitations on this but i dont know
Your world sure comes crashing down around you a lot. You should get some medication.

hahahahah i know i love going all bi polar when something doesnt go my way, helps gain views/responses...would be wierd if i was like google voice/whatever
haha
Ok, so I'm a little confused by this post. Is there some indication out that there there will NEVER be a google voice app for tablets/xoom? If so, where is the documentation supporting this?
I assume (and maybe incorrectly) that a google voice app on the xoom is just a matter of time (like flash and enabling the SD slot), not any direct statement made by google.
Does anyone have any concrete information of either scenario?

I don't believe so. I think people are just "OMG PANIC!" because not everything is exactly how they want it on a release day.
Patience truly is a virtue.
Just to add idle speculation into the fire, i am almost positive that we will get the iPad treatment vis a vis Google Voice. Meaning they need to get a version of the app going for android that does not integrate with a dialer.
I would love to have a voip option or something, but VZ and all US Carriers do not want us to use our devices as phones, they want us to have 2 lines with them! Galaxy Tab, which in the rest of the world is effectively a giant Galaxy S with dialer, etc, on all US carriers has had its calling disabled (of course since its froyo it was easy for at least the tmo ones to get the feature back).
This is not a Google issue, but rather one of the carriers not wanting us to not pay them for our minutes.
I think some folks might also be getting confused with the following Verizon statements quoting Verizon as saying the receiving or sending of SMS or MMS won't be supported by Verizon on this device.
I just interpret that as meaning that Verizon will not let the device natively receive and send SMS/MMS like a regular cell phone or provide phone apps to do this. Because GV does SMS/MMS via data and not through the normal SMS/MMS mechanism I would assume that Verizon's statement doesn't exclude the potential for GV on the device at all...

Except Skype works on 3g and Wifi on the xoom
I just switched from iphone to nexus 4 and am on straight talk now.
I cant seem to get text from iphone unless my friends go in manually and change my contact info to send as sms and not as imessage. Needless to say thats alot of contacts to have change. I called apple support and they took my number off the imessage servers which is what i thought would work. Needless to say it still doesnt seem to work. They can receive my messages but i cant receive theirs. Does anyone have expeirce with this? Any ideas?
You aren't on iMessage anymore. It's proprietary. They'll need to switch to SMS when texting you. Sorry.
I never had an apple device so I'm not too sure about this, but maybe you can disable it somewhere in the settings of your apple id?
Edit:
If found some information on the apple support forums: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22436272#22436272
I would think it makes sense. Why would your nexus work with an I app. Daughter has iPhone 5. She text me just fine

Unfortunately, this is an issue with Apple. Slow process is to remove the device from your apple account. I forgot the link.
How I resolved it was by activating my account with an iPhone and changed the settings in messages to only send by sms, so it doesn't use iMessage anymore.
This resolved everything.
