I own a Venturi Mini, which is a in-car FM Transmitter/Bluetooth unit. As well as being a hands-free kit it also connects as a bluetooth stero headset to my HD and transmits the music via FM to my stereo. It's a lovely piece of kit.
On the unit, as well as being able to dial and hangup there are play, pause, stop, fast forward & rewind controls. These used to operate the music player in Manilla.
I have recently flashed to one of the Stonehenge roms, but now the controls on the venturi connect to Media Player. If I am alreasy playing music through the unit from manilla and then press, for example, fast forward, the manilla player stops and media player opens on it's library plage.
This is annoying. The manilla player is nice and finger friendly as well as having simple visuals. This is great for driving.
Does anybody know if there are any windows settings or registry values I can change to determine which music player an external bluetooth headset controls. I don't mind if I ended up with it fixed to the manilla player or to whichever player is in focus.
Thank you in advance.
Once I wrote the above message I saw a couple of approriate keywords in the list at the bottom which helped me make my searches more appropriate.
Below are a few threads relating to this issue. It appears to be between the bluetooth driver and WM6.5

So...
WMP sucks... its slow to switch songs... tough to create playlists and freezes up my Ozone whenever I am listening to music and get a txt/email.
However one thing it does do is allow me to use the song select buttons on my stereo bluetooth headset.
What I am looking for is an alternative to WMP that allows the use of those buttons.
I really like Pocket Tunes - clean interface, easy to use... wicked fast song switching but it doesnt recognize the buttons on the Headset.
I havent been able to get Core Player to work on it... keeps giving errors.
Any suggestions or rec's would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Try Kinoma Play.
i think either vlc or mplayer also has a windows mobile (though it may be in beta)

Pocket Player will use the buttons on the headset, but you MUST go into comm manager and set your bluetooth to stereo and hands free each time prior to using Pocket Player. This happens with some headsets for some reason.
My Jabra BT8010 set works fine without having to go into comm man each time, but my old Motorola set did not.
I 2nd Kinoma Play. Easy UI, good features, smooth operation.

coreplayer make a problem with my A2DP bluetooth headset..
controlling wmp while locked or in another app
I am a newbie coming from blackberry & i have a question. On the bberry, if the phone is locked u can still control the music player by using the volume up/down keys to change volume & change tracks. You can also control the volume & change tracks when not even in the media player screen...for example if i switch over to look at my email....is there a modification that will make this possible on a wm6x phone?
Core player, TCPMP, or HTC Audio manager are good. I made a Titanium HTC Audio Manager panel for my latest ROM. You have to enable it in CHome Config.
Will the voice recognition software work with other players?

Personally, I have tried many media players and the one that works the best for me is the music tab built into the Manila. WMP bites, and unfortunately, it seems to always hijack the avrcp signal from by BT devices. I tried pocket player, core player(great for movies), but I keep coming back to the built in player. It is the best, most consistent I have found.
Good luck and cheers!
Try Pocket Tunes with Itunes integration & Bluetooth Stereo Works
Try Pocket Tunes
I used Pocket Tunes for years on my Palm Lifedrive and now there is a Windows Mobile version. It works great with my Sony Ericsson DS970 Stereo Bluetooth and yes the AVRCP support is spot on and actually works.
I use it to download podcast, Stream and Organize Internet Radio, It remebers the last position in all my Audiobooks, of course MP3's But best of all is the Itunes integration (has a helper App that runs on the Desktop of PC that runs alongside Itunes to sync playlist)
What it does not do is handle video for that I use Core player. Give it a try they just lowered the price too.

I had the HTC Touch HD for a year and had no problems using bluetooth audio streaming with the standard HTC music player on my JVC KD-AVX44.
Now I have the HD2 I always have to have Windows Media player running before I select "Bluetooth" on the head unit, otherwise it will not connect.
If I use Windows Media player then all is OK with the head unit.
However I would prefer (and expect) the standard HTC music player to be used like my old phone.
Have tried searching on this forum but cannot find any solution to change the default A2DP music player to the HTC one.
Does anyone have any ideas please?
Thanks
Strange....it works just fine for me. No need to run WMP.
In fact, AVRCP only works on HTC Sense Music player, which is kinda irritating as it's a bit slow imho.
agree with the last post. No issues with htc music
No issues for me too...
With Plantronics A590 & Toyota Avensis Bluetooth Audio System...
OK thanks all for the replies - I will contact HTC support and see if they have any ideas - thought they all might work in this way but seems not!
Cheers
maybe you have to enable "play system sound on external device" setting for this to work?

I have the same issue on my JVC KD-AVX44, audio streaming via the HTC album is just a no go for some reason.
However windows media player works fine displaying all ID3 tag info.
Unfortuntely I sold my old HD before getting this JVC head unit so never tried it out with that device.
What on earth have HTC done to cause this A2DP issue when using HTC album? it makes no sense.
I am currently using the latest 1.66 WWE ROM update.
no issues with my hd2... you should try differeny rom
Seems like you're trying to start the stereo connection from your audio device.
Try to connect using the HD2's Bluetooth interface. It's under settings -> menu -> more. Select your audio device from the list and choose 'Stereo Audio'. This should enable audio streaming for all sounds, including HTC's player.

Same here. JVC stereo 1.66 WWE ROM.
Worked fine with Touch HD but not HD2.
Not that big an issue though as I usually use the music player with Copilot. It was fine on the Touch-HD either Bluetooth or line-in cable but if I use the HTC music player (with line-in as I can't use Bluetooth), the music drops out constantly. It doesn't do this with Windows Media Player. Love the phone but bit dissapointed an otherwise inferior phone coped so much better with something that I make use of a lot.
I'll report it to HTC too.

Hi, i was wondering if you could expand on your steps. I got a chinese version and the steps seem to dissapear for me after the more.
In HD2, when i go to "more" i get the connections menu, where would i proceed or if this is incorrect? Thanks!

Hm... I wonder if your Chinese version has a different setup. This is what I do:
* On the settings tab in HTC Sense, I have one softkey on the bottom right that says "menu".
* When I tap this, a menu pops up with only one option (silly): "more".
* When I tap "more", I go to a screen with a number of settings icons: Bluetooth, Sounds & Notifications, Clock & Alarms...
*When I tap on "Bluetooth", I go to HTC's Bluetooth interface.
I WISH this would woprk with coreplayer too.
Did anyone find a fix to this? I've got the same head unit which works fine with my desire and spotify but not with my hd2.
Wmp on the hd2 will play over ad2p but the htc player and spotify will not. I get a brief 1 second of music and then nothing.
I've tried the various options of enabling system sound over ad2p, setting the connections to connect as one rather than separately but still no joy.
Hi all,
I have been trying to find a music player in the Market that can help me make playlists more easily.
In particular...
able to pick multiple songs out of different albums and not have to start over at the beginning of ALL THE ALBUMs!
Does anyone.. use a good music player that they can recommend?
Also on wish list but not required at this point:
-have stereo Bluetooth
-can control the music player with my Bluetooth headphone device
-has an equalizer
-have controls on the lock screen (similar to HTC's player)
Thanks for help.
Dan
No music player other than HTC's will be able to have lock screen controls.
The lack of EQ is due to limitations in Android's audio API. There is a player in Market that claims to have it, but it's $30... There's a free version, but I haven't tried it, because my headphones are decent enough that I don't need it.
I use MixZing specifically because it lets me queue up things from different categories. I don't use actual playlists though. No idea how well it deals with Bluetooth.
I just found a program to fix Bluetooth button on headsets.
claims to fix the other players.. so your headset can control the new player.
It must be new... because there were no comments by any user.
it is called: "Headset Button Fix"
but it requires the HTC player be removed.
If I do remove the HTC Player...
How do I get it back if it is not what I want??
thanxs
Hi,
I have a Nexus 4, Android 4.3. I upgraded to 4.3 for AVRCP 1.3+ support. I am using my car head unit (KD-X50BT) to control the media player on my phone (Poweramp) and my phone stream the audio back to the head unit. This part works like a charm. :good:
The problem is that the song title displayed on my head unit is wrong. :crying: It is either "Stop", "Pause" or the title of another song. After investigation, it looks like the phone sends to the head unit the information from Google Play Music app instead of Poweramp.
- I have enabled the metadata option of Poweramp.
- Poweramp is the default media player
- I have tried disabling Google Play Music
- I have tried multiple media player other than Poweramp, even the app from JVC.
- I have tried installing Media Button Router.
Please help me to resolve this. Thank you.
I have the same problem, now that JB 4.3 sends info through BT, I've tried in my car and can only see song, album, artist title using Play Music, it looks like PowerAmp has a bug.

Probably more than Poweramp, since I have seen this problem with multiple Audio player. I found out this week-end that MusicXmatch does not have this problem. I can probably live with this player for now. I will keep PowerAmp for my headset, and MusiXmatch for BT streaming.
I've got a new Sony BT ready head unit, and it's not picking up any information from any of my players (PowerAMP, Google Music, or Apollo).
I currently with PowerAMP and Android 4.4
Had the same issue with Pebble and my car stereo (Titles not shown). After enabling settings-BT-Metachanged intent and send album - Artist in Poweramp settings the song title and artist is showing OK on both devices
Never worked for me in my kenwood car stereo but I assume its because of the stereo. Couldn't find any reliable info on it though.
