Rom question.. - HD2 General

After I flash my hd2 to a different rom do I have to run HSPL to install other roms or can I just flash the rom without running HSPL. I want to try another rom version but dont know if I have to go through another HSPL. Im trying to find a good stable rom that will run my internet browser without lagging with the load times.
Thanks in advance!!

I am currently running KUMARS ROM V2.0 on my 1024 htc hd2/leo

HSPL only has to be loaded one time. Once it's embedded into your system it stays there until you get rid of it or change back to the stock version. You will have to go into the bootloader every time you want to change ROM's, but you will not have to modify your HSPL version.

Shouldent the phone go straight to bootloader mode when new rom is being flashed? Also what is a good stable TMOUS ROM that is currently out that I can flash to my HD2 that wont lag on loading times when I use my internet. I use Opera 10 for my internet.

I tried to flash a hard spl on my TMobile HTC HD2 but I dont see a Hard Spl for 2.10 will the 2.08 work on mine ???

as answered fast aproaching a hundred times, you need to flash 2.10.0 so that your spl is downgraded to 2.08.0000 and then you can use hspl1024.

Ever searched youtube for Tmobile HD2 ROM's? There are quite a few videos on there that show you the various ROM's that are available, which makes it really easy to decide which one to go with...
Just a thought.

Hey guys.. I havent tried flashing any of the cooked ROMs before. Which do u guys think I should try out? There's just too many of them. Im currently on the 1.665 WWE official ROM
Hi,
Wellcome!
I'm using and recommended Miri's ROM :
March 11, 2010 02:27 AM
Miri HD2 WM6.5.X (23545) ROM :: Sense 2.5 with Swype :: V 8.0
Is there a greater difference than the stock 1.66?
6.5.x has the (IMO rubbish) new buttons at the bottom - if you want stock looks then go for the WM6.5 version I've got on my sig...
Yes but in terms of performance and visual effects, is there really a big incentive as to switching to cooked ROMs?

Hi
Make sure you have the HSPL on your device before you try any cooked roms. Also there are SSPL, Goldcard available . You have to read the sticky threads before you try to flash. You are warned without above you might brick your device.
good luck
I think im gonna try the artemis 5.5. Good feedback on that? Yes ive done the app steps
quick tip - never use the sd card method to flash a phone, you're more likely to brick it or, worse, put an SPL that can't be rolled back. ALWAYS use HSPL and flash via ActiveSync/WMDC
KAV2010 keeps deleting HSPL as soon as I unzip it. Geez..
I flashed a cooked rom thru the Spl method. Now my phone is unable to boot. I am unable to perform hard rest. What should i do?

It depends on the ROM you have installed but is more like you have to install radio 2.08 or 2.07 the 2.10 roms are radio dependant.
Regards,
Me
How do I do that now that my phone cant boot?
Please keep the questions in 1 thread. This makes 3 now.

If you've got HSPL on, just turn your phone off, battery out if necessary. Then replace battery, hold down volume down button and press the power button (end call). It will boot into bootloader, then you can use custom RUU to put another radio on, try 2.08.50.08_2 That is a guess as to the right radio, but might help you out.
PS Sternas says he uses 2.06.51.07 radio in his Artemis ROM, so try that one.

Thanks for prompt info, however upon keying in my HD2 serial no, it says the software is not suitable for my mobile. Would you suggest I should still try with other links available and upgrade it (for Singapore). Many thanks.

Yes you should download from the Singapore page as the ROM at the HK site is for CHT whereas Singapore is either CHS or WWE.
I've have been running the HK 1.72.831.1 ROM for ages, then i decided to flash to this ROM, been using it for the last week, and for my HD2, this ROM is a pile of sh*t
issue's i've dicsovered so far
1. issues with launching video from album view, issues range from no video playback, to radio buttons disappear at bottom of screen....never had these issue wth 1.72.831.1 when playing the same videos
2. consumes lots of RAM ( 80-90 % ), compared to 1.72 ( 40-70ish% ), so much so that applications will fail, intermittant usage of opera for example.
It's a pitty, cause overall this ROM is much more responsive, and the radio seems more responsive too ( eg enable/disable wifi etc... )
Looks like i'll be rolling back to 1.72.831.1

Sir like mention almost everywhere; Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL!
You need to remove HSPL before installing stock ROM 3.14! If you don't do it the above mentioned problems are normal!

Hi,
I just wanna share my experience.I just flashed the Stock ROM after many times consideration. I felt that no increase in term of speed [I used to flash Energy as a benchmark of ROM speed ] I mean it was slower than any cooked ROM. So I decided to go back to Cooked ROM. Now, I am using Carnage HD v.4.2 which is faster than the stock ROM.
In flashing the stock ROM, I had to remove HSPL2 by way of running HSPL2 from my PC (Win XP Pro SP3) and choose SPL 1.66. I succeeded, then I flashed the stock ROM also from my PC.
In flashing back to Cooked ROM, I use SSPL. First attempt, my PC got crashed (BSOD), I wasnt sure the reason of which. The second attempt, I succeeded.
Now I have SPL 3.03 in my HD2. I read that few users reported that they can downgrade the SPL. I am not sure whether it is safe. I need time to think about it.
Cheers....

After I flashed this ROM to my phone, upgrading it to any Artemis ROM via SSPL would load HSPL 1.42 instead of 3.03. Also, I've had problems with Artemis ROMS after flashing to this stock ROM, such as stuck on HTC boot screen or soft reset becoming hard resets. Could it be a problem with the HSPL? How do I make sure that it loads HSPL 3.03 when flashing Artemis instead of 1.42?

Sir if you take some time to read the installation instructions on the Artemis Rom thread you will see that you need to remove HSPL if you used 3.14 stock Rom based Rom's.

[Q] Android on STOCK ROM

I was wondering if it was possible to install Android on the stock ROM 3.14 WWE (radio 2.15.50.14). I would like to install android without having to use HSPL because I'd like to keep the phone under warranty
Nahh
Tried doing that. My WM locked up totally. It would start, but NO 3'rd party progs worked. I could not uninstall, nor install.
The only thing that worked was to reset WM.
So i ran the HSPL part, upgraded WM to Dutty, upgraded the Radio, and Android ran smoothly.
I'm not sure if all WM's will lock up, but i only speak for my self.
Btw, my was stock Norwegian.
Good luck
It does work on the latest ROM (3.14). Plenty of people have had it working, me being one of them. It's definitely a good solution for those who don't want to have to upgrade HSPL in order to get a newer radio.
I've been always using Stock roms, and Android has always worked perfectly here.
Currently using 3.14 German Stock Rom + MDJ 1.7 Android room. working flawlessly.
stock orange rom
I am using a stock orange rom. I did HSPL3 and updated the radio to 2.14.50.04.
I went for the FroyoStone_Sense_V3.2 build, and have had no stability issues. I use this as my main phone and never revert back to winmo.
Like most I do suffer from data drops, but get around it by toggling airplane mode.
Hi, two seperate things here, you can run it on a stock rom see my sig, but you must install HSPL3.
Mines working just fine...
Didn't alter the WinMo ROM, radio, or even SPL. Just cut & pasta the Android ROM files to SD Card, and magic!

No, you don't need to install hspl. A radio version >2.08 is enough. Recent stock ROM has 2.15
having HSPL is safer .. I am running the Tmobile stock with hspl ,running Mdeejay Evo and works like a charm .
I don't see how having HSPL could possibly be any safer for running Android from your sd card, as Android doesn't use or touch your SPL at all. You are perfectly safe to run Android on a stock rom, as long as you have a X.XX.50.XX radio everything will be as if you were to run it on a cooked rom

NAND Question!

Hi there,
I have got a problem. I have managed to changed my stock ROM from 3.14 to 1.66 because i wanted to NAND my Hd2. But the problem is after installing HSPL2 or HSPL 3 and then installing MAGLDR 1.11 i get white screen with HTC logo. I have read somewhere that it doesnt work with 1.66. Because i cannot find any different Stock ROM than 1.66 and 3.14 does it mean i cannot install it at all ? Thanks

keep 3.14 and flash yourself a radio which supports 576 ram (if your recent rom doesnt already contain such radio). the right radios have a .50 in its version
So i install 3.14 with radio .50 then install HSPL 3 ? then MAGLDR 1.11 and thats it ? I can continue NAND my HD2? Thanks for quick replay

i didnt flash a nand rom yet, but i think i read that you should use hspl 2.08.
basically it cant be wrong the way you posted, but check nand threads about proper installation.
i somehow managed to downgrade to 2.08 but it bricked windows. But then MAGLDR started up and i have now got NAND on my HD2. Thanks
Same problem
Hello, I recently got a new hd2 because my old one broke and it has the 3.14 rom preloaded on it, I can't find anywhere to download the older rom so I can load MAGLDR111 to load NAND android, can anyone post a link to older roms for US t-mobile HD2 or is there a work around to install MAGLDR111?
Thanks for quick response

well afaik you do not need to flash anything with t-mobile hd2, you already got a radio version which supports 576mb ram. why should you downgrade to an older winmo rom?
you're ready to go, so you can just go through magldr and android installation

[Q] Flashing stock WINMO with SPL3.03 possible?

Hello guys,
I have an HD2 with SPL version 3.03. I've looked around on the forums for a guide on how to downgrade it, but i can't find one. Is it even possible?
Because i've installed Android on it trough SD card method, and it's draining my battery! have to recharge twice a day now. I've read that i have to replace the original WINMO ROM with a custom one like VBNROM to save battery.
Is it possible to downgrade this SPL 3.03? or do you guys have any other suggestions on how to increase battery life?
Greetings!

es, just go to HTC.com, choose support, choose your phone (HD2) then find a firmware upgrade or software upgrade.. enter your s/n found on the back of ur device..
make sure its older version..
Sorry m8 but you couldn't have searched too hard as there are plenty of references to flashing with spl 3.03.0000. You basically have 2 options, the first is to flash to an older version of your stock rom (via sd card) so that you get to an spl of 2.10.0000 or lower and then you can run HSPL3 to "crack" the spl.
Alternatively you can try the GoldCard (search xda for this) method which will allow you to flash any rom. Battery drainage can also be possibly solved by trying another radio
Okay, i will give it a try.
Can you just download firmware from HTC and install a older version over a new one? or do i have to do this through this SD card method?
@ClydeB1
Im using Radio 2.15.50.14. Guess this one is allright, since many ppl including yourself are using it.
If the rom is for your phone you can just flash it to downgrade. Just be aware that the older rom might have a different radio, so be sure to check before continuing with Android.
Yes 2.15.50 is fine (any 50 series radio from 2.08.50 or higher will work)
So I can just downgrade my ROM that easily? without using GoldCard etc.?
Which version should I download then? 3.14 is the version I am using now. It has SPL 3.03. Or can I just install 1.66.xxx.x version? Guess this one has a low SPL build.
