Bell Mobility Canada Omnia i8000L - Omnia II General

Just bought this phone off the net. The person who had it before had it signed up with Bell Canada. I tried putting my SIM from Bell into the phone and all i get is SP Lock. It asks me for a PIN to disengage the SP Lock. Any idea how i can get it unlocked. I think the phone will work on Rogers or any other USA provider but from Bell to Bell no idea.

you can call bell they will unlock it for 75 dollers...or close to that
or you can call this guy in vancouver..
mobile-to-go in vancouver.

he said he would unlock mine for 20$ but i have not been to van yet to do it.
nutz

Another option is a SIM Unlock Card. I picked one up on ebay for $5 with shipping included. Used it in my Bell Mobility I8000L with a Rogers Sim Card and tried a Fido Sim card. Worked no problems.

AFTER UNLOCKING QUESTION....

My former T-mobile Phone edition was unlocked with a code provided by T-mobile. It seemed to work. I placed a foriegn card in and the phone asked for th unlocking code and it was accepted. For fun, I bought a cingular sim chip, but the phone (although sometimes does pick up the networks), it say's "no service". Do I have to reflash the radio to something more generic? I am going to Canada then Europe, I'd like this to work while away with prepaid GSM cards....I appreciate any help. Thanks, Phil

How do I know if my HTC is locked (simlocked) or not without another Sim?

Hi,
I've bought a HTC Magic from Rogers. From the internet, it seems that some ppl were saying Rogers did not lock any smartphone, but most said it does.
I've tested with my wife's Fido Pay-As-You-Go SIM card, it seems to work. So either my phone is unlocked or Rogers and that Fido prepaid card are sharing the same lock-code.
Anyhow, without any other tools, how can I tell/test if my phone is simlocked or not?
Thanks,
Gary
The Rogers phones are locked. Fido, PetroCan Mobility and Speak Out are all virtual network operators that run on the Rogers network so their SIM's will work in a locked Rogers phone.
You need a non-Rogers SIM (like from a new Bell or Telus phone) or a US or European SIM. As soon as you pop it in it will tell you your locked and will ask you for the unlock code.
Phone won't run home screen but instead will ask for "unlock code".
And unless you give it you can't use the phone for anything (you can't even check any menu, settings or anything).

HTC HD2 network problem

I've got an HTC HD2 Virgin branded from Ebay, It said that it is unlocked. Tried it on T-mobile, O2 and Vodafone.
Only worked on T-Mobile.
When I put O2 or Vodafone sim card, it can't even connect to the network.
Is my device locked??? Or is it faulty? Please help
sounds like its still network locked to me. virgin piggy back on the tmo network I believe, maybe that's why tmo works?
(just thinking out loud)
but the phone didn't ask for unlock code even when i put different sim card?

[Q] Sprint unlocked my SGSS

Hi I had my phone unlocked by sprint and got a confirmation email saying my device is unlocked for international use. I was told by the sprint representative that there is no way in testing if the phone is unlock when I'm in the US. Is this true? or is there a way I can test the phone if it's unlocked, I do have an international sim card from Jamaica but I want to test if the phone is unlock before I leave the states.
borrow a friends SIM?
this belongs in the Q&A section not general.
this has been answered already. you can test if its unlocked by putting an att or tmo sim card in. if there is no sim card error when you boot up.. then its unlocked.
the sim error would be in the status bar. "invalid sim". if you see invalid sim.. it's not unlocked, despite what sprint says.
if it IS unlocked properly.. that still doesnt mean that you can use tmo/att... itll only pic up a gsm signal when using an international sim.
I have a sim card from Jamaica, I am going to try it when I get home but I think I forgot to change the mobile network to GSM when I inserted the the international sim card.
Just got back from my trip to Jamaica and my phone worked great with the international sim card. I had the sim card with me in the US and it didn't work when I was here but as a landed in Jamaica I put the bad boy in and I had service only down fall was I couldn't get data. So the unlock from sprint do work internationally.
