I am looking to find a setting or application that would continue to notify (audible) until a TEXT message is either read/acknowledged or deleted.
Anything like that out there?
Thanks!!!!

FWIW, Handcent is available in the Market. Works very well.

It is annoying when you have little or no signal and you send an SMS only to get an unable to send SMS notification. It would be great if it could auto retry (AND get rid of the draft when the SMS is successfully sent).
Is there such a program? Couldn't find one on google or here.
Could someone make one?

Not sure with the standard messaging features but add ons like Vito SMS chat have this feature (resend) rather than searching through draft folders like you said.
I would like to bump this thread again. This can be a real annoyance and I can't imagine a skilled developer would take long to write an app to do this.

I completely support the statement that this is super annoying. Can't imagine why noone has tackled the issue so far.
I think many would appreciate this to be done..
so the app should always be running in the background?

Maybe integrated to the WIndows default SMS application?
i think the app should monitor if a new sms is moved to the drafts folder

But this would send even the messages you intended to move to drafts folder. like messages you intended to send later. but if it is not possible for now to integrate to the existing default sms app, i think this is an option. BTW i know you can do this oldsap, ive been using some of your apps since way back to the SAP era. thanks for that.
Am I missing this? Is there a way to mark a previously read test message as unread? Thanks.

Anyone?
By the default SMS app, no there is no way to mark an SMS as unread.
But there is an app (or apps) in the Market that can do this for you, or at least, should work for you. From a simple search this app is called "Mark as Unread" by Christian Skogsberg. Try it out and hopefully it works for you.
If that doesn't work, or you want to try something else, you could try a different SMS app such as Handcent SMS, I read but cannot confirm you can do it in this.

yeah - but it will come back every time you exit and press Phone again, also, there is no option to display ALL Call Logs, either ALL or individuals....
We need to get rid of the SMS log entirely... or at least the option whether to log it or not...

Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
i found a (kinda) solution, but you'll have to install GoSMS from the market. Anyway it's an awesome sms app, i used to use Handcent and Chomp but finally settle for this.
Under Settings---> Receive Settings , check "Disable other message notification".
check it out

This better as you don't have to install a whole new ROM:

Does any one know how to change the text message settings to make it so the notification on the lock screen shows it is from and what the message is?

Dont know about that. Maybe samsung intended it that way for privacy reasons..or so i guess(although i dont get the point as rest of the apps can show full details there).
My tab3 does not show the sender/contents of the message. Just says <count> messages received..not quite useful.

I'm not sure if it is JUST for stock. Go into stock messages and apply that setting. Then text yourself in hangouts. You will find out lol

Thanks but I can't change Messaging settings without making it default again. I'm worried that will screw up Hangouts when I switch back.

The good news that I was able to switch to stock, make the change, and move back to Hangouts. The bad news is that the setting didn't carry over.
Is there a way to customize text message notifications for individual contacts . I can do it for the ringtones but not the messages. if there isn't a way does anyone know of a free app that would make it so I could do this.
thank you
Use another SMS app with that function.
Can you recommend a app. I am new to this .
