I switched from a Windows mobile phone to HTC Legend a few days ago. However, now there is a very bad cellular reception everywhere. Is that "Normal"?
no not really.
my signal is stronger then with my old phone, but that was just a sonyericsson w300i
I am a windows mobile user now, but I want to buy an HTC Legend. My question is about ringer delay. There is a ringer delay like in phone who use windows mobile or not?? Thank's in advance..

I had this problem with custom rom, it was bad rom. If you are rooted, try to flash your phone to another rom. Official rom work great.

I experience a delay of about 1 second on my Legend, compared to 4 seconds (at best) on my Touch Pro.

That is much much better... Thank you very much
I've the same problem, previous phone was a Samsung OMNIA with way better reception in both bands, 2G and 3G.
Stock baseband version is 47.26.35.04U7.05.35.26L
Any idea which software load provides better radio performance or is it a hardware design glitch ?
my cell signal seems fine but bluetooth signal is quite weak.. i can't be far from the phone at all without it dropping the sound.
The bottom black plastic is the Legend antenna (battery, sim and sdcard cover) but it's not lucky - it is all on your palm - for this - you are the radio-wawe shadow
I used to have an xperia x1. On 3g I was lucky if I had even a bit of signal. But with my new Legend, I have excellent signal. But as mentioned above, the Legend does loose signal if the batterycover is covered (with your hand). But then again, that goes for every mobile. Unfortunately the Legends antenna is at the bottom and thus covered easily...

TO try and help you out it would be good to work out what you want out of the phone.
As for your questions
1. Wouldn't have a clue
2. Both Miri's and Dutty's ROM's are excellent amongst others out there. They are all available here
3. Since we are using ROM's which have not officially been released (mainly WM6.5), there will always be bugs. Although you can go down the tried and tested WM6.1 route.. but why when WM6.5 is so much better
4. If your carrier supports 3g, then it's a simple option in Comm Manager to active/deactivate it.
5. iphone is crap (imho)
6. Internet is as good as any these days. I got mine from HK and not had any problems with it.
7. They are a good phone and the most trouble you will have is trying the different roms until you find one that you like and then just as you load it and later release will come out and you will feel compelled to try it. Just get a good application that will install your apps and save your files.
Hope this helps.

read the ROM threads, read crackwhore's instructions, read the ROM threads again, pick a ROM, read crackwhore's instructions again and follow them to-the-T, flash the ROM and you'll be ok.

bugs? 2 things to remember here: (1) theses are cooked ROMs and they will contain a bug or 2. heck, even the stock ROMs have bugs. the cooks cook and test as best they can, but they're not microsoft, htc, etc. we flash and report issues and then if it's a bug, the cooks will correct it. (2) when users (me included) report an issue, we often fail to report the other tweaks, software, etc, we've loaded to our devices. undoubtedly, some of this contributes to the issues we encouter/report with the cooked ROMs. if a cooked ROM freaks on me when i install my apps, that app is removed or i try another ROM.

not difficult to do. they are the same settings that the at&t fuze uses. you have to be in an at&t area that has 850 3G towers. Houston (i hear) doesn't have the 850 coverage that Dallas has; but Dallas is corp HQ for a&t so they have to have good 850 coverage here. add the connections settings, pop your sim in and go!

I prefer the titanium interface in wm6.5 to the touchflo interface in wm6.1
As for speed, I think that I can access everything faster with the new interface than I could with the old, so it's all a matter of opinion.
Regarding stability, I found a cook who does very stable roms and doesn't try to add everything under the sun... it's when you start tinkering under the hood too much that you come into problems.
As to everything else.. it still rings, and I can answer the call... that's the main function of these things.
mjgmjg, did you order the phone after all of this? I'd say you should be fine as long as you have ( as mentioned in an earlier post ) 850mmz 3G in your area now.
I live in Atl area where it was always 1900mhz 3G and mine works fine. I believe AT&T pushed out more 850 3G than they are announcing due to iphone 3GS.
I used the latest HTC Rom from EU but will update to Dutty's soon. Mine found all AT&T 3G settings just fine by istself. You will need to read on this forum about installing a flavor of SPL though.
The stock Telstra ROM is not the best IMO but then again I am used to the XDA and EU ROMS
bought t8285
yep i purchased the t8285 from ebay seller "mobiledestiny". I
tracked the phone & its in cali. Hope to have it it in a few days. Thx to everyone who posted, cortez and rap5 and others . I will used the phone as is for 2 weeks before trying to flash. In that time I will study the XDA blackstone forums. If you have more advice please let me no. I hope skyfire and kinoma play will work on cooked roms.
still haven't been able to get skyfire to work with a cooked ROM. if you install it before flashing yours, then we'll know if it's related to using cooked ROMs. Kinoma on the othe hand works great! i use it streaming music from shoutcast during my daily 4 mile runs (ok, jog/walk combination) and at nite when i listen to music at bed time.
candy bar windows mobile 3g is hard to come by
I can't believe the ropes we have to jump to get a 3g candy bar style windows mobile phone in the UNITED STATES. For the last couple of years i watched htc put out some cool looking phones with no US 3g. The iphone didn't have any competition, think of all the money htc and microsoft lost. It's 2009 and I have to order a candy bar US 3g phone from australia. That's messed up!!!

I just got mine this week from Negri Electronics, it arrived in 3 days as I ordered it shipped overnight, but it comes straight from Australia so it takes a wee bit longer, which is clearly stated on their website. Perfect service!
So far, I did not have pleasant experience with HTC (previously, I owned Dopod 818 Pro).
It's the ROM here that redeemed the phone.
Now, I have issues with screen and wifi/bluetooth. The "black screen of death" seems to strike some others too.
I had a previous Samsung set i780 which seemed stable enough even with stock ROM...
I will go for the new Samsung Omnia II if I could turn back time.. (if you can stand the outrageous colour UI)

I couldn't get any data signal at all with the stock ROM, which was hardcoded to only work with Telstra. It's really too bad as the stock ROM seemed really fast.
I am considering buying the Telstra HD2 via a buddy in Oz for use on AT&Ts network. I have been checking out the forums and it seems there are a ton of issues with the HD2 regarding touch screen failures, data connection issues, and other nags that make the experience more frustrating than enjoyable.
Would love to know from experienced users opinions on whether or not I should buy the HD2. I am a very experienced BlackBerry user but I have gotten bored with the UI and want to try something new.
Also to note: I plan to use my next ATT upgrade to get the WP7 phone but that is too long a wait to stick it out on the BB. I am not going to switch to TMob as I think I am the only ATT user that is satisfied with ATT.
Really any thoughts on why I should or should not buy the Telstra HD2 would be appreciated.

The HD2 had ALOT of complaints from users when it first came out and all the problems it had was due to the terrible rom that it came with. The latest official Rom v1.66 and any custom rom from the rom development forum have fixed all these problems and after owning an HD2 for 2 1/2 months I can say hand on heart that it is the best phone I have ever seen or used. No freezes, no problems with the screen, no data connection problems and a pleasure to use. Everytime I look at it I still think WOW!!
Even the camera and video capture which has always been dismal at best on HTC phones is now fantastic and stunningly fast.
With the tweaks and mods available on xda you wont find a better phone.
I advised a friend to get one a few weeks ago and after he got his HD2 he thanked me for recommending it so my advise to you would be to get one as you will not be disapointed.
The only thing I will say is that once you get it be prepared to put HardSPL on it and flash either the 1.66 stock rom or one of the custom roms available to make sure it runs at its best.

I purchased one Telstra HD2 for myself, flashed the ROM (to XannyTech's), and have had no problems except a bug related to screen rotation during phone calls causing the dialpad to reposition itself annoyingly (there's a simple work-around). My boss was so impressed with the phone that he bought one and I've prepped it the same way.
I have no reservations about the purchases. Worrying about WP7 upgrade possibilities is silly since we all know so very little about what might happen. You're right not to listen to the Chicken Littles who want to sue HTC or see the price come down because an upgrade never offered now may only be possible instead of probable.

Awesome and thanks for the input. I am sold. My buddy in Perth grabbed one for me today and it is on the way to me. I was debating whether or not to sell it but I want to keep it. Your explanation of flashing the ROM was one of the first links I bookmarked from this site.
I am definitely going to have to HardSPL the device - what I understand is that the Telstra ROM will not allow me to access ATT's 3G bands. I have been on a BlackBerry for 5 years so this is all new to me but I am looking forward to getting the HD2.

When you get it make sure you check the SPL in the bootloader screen to make sure you can put HardSPL on it. The requirements are SPL 1.42. I dont think any phones are being sold with a higher SPL version but you really want to check that first before you start drooling over the sheer beauty of it
Once you are ready to start flashing it please post in my flashing for noobs thread if you have any more observations or questions.

Theres an even better replacement than the rotate fix, there's a dll fix now too
I think it's an excellent phone, but the standard Telstra ROM is terrible, I'm using the latest Energy ROM and the phone is AMAZING now
I agree in that it is an excellent phone. I am using it on AT&T here in the US.
I have tried several of the ROMs cooked here and can say they all offer great alternatives. Go for it!
I also have the T9193 setup with ATT. I went for the safe sea wwe 1.66 rom. The only problem I had was with the data freezing on me a couple times a day. But once I got the right bands setup and installed the 2.08.50.08_2 radio the phone has been flawless for weeks. Not one issue. I have had no problems with the touchscreen at all.

Not the right thread maybe, but what is the link to this fix? Only thing that annoys me sometimes. Thanks.
Concerning this thread, MSKip recommended me the HD2 (he came from a TyTn II) just like me, and I can only repeat every word he said. Even camera is quite nice. Used in a trip with my kids, and it did its job when I needed quite nicely.
I also bought my Telstra to use in the same band as AT&T in Brazil. It's been working with no problem. I don't keep it connected all the time, so can not say about stability of connection, but whenever I need I connect HSPA right away and connection is quite fast and it is quite OK to browse the web with it. And thing is no lag! I use Miri 6.5.x, great, there is a fix for the registry to select correct bands or auto... My 2 cents.
PS: I was only missing a little bit hardware keyboard and media keys. Now I'm getting used to on-screen keyboard and typing is getting closer in speed and accuracy to a hard keyboard. Media keys, well, I use my bluetooth headphone's, still miss them sometimes, though, but nothing is perfect, is it?
I have been happy with ATT, but the price of the import is too steep so I cannot stay if I want the HD2
If you dont mind the price importing shouldnt be too bad, I know someone who did and has been very happy with it.

If you ever encounter any problems with your hd2 or whatsoever, please feel free to post here and I will try my best to help u .
Recommended build as of 21/09/2010
Hyperdroid v 1.5 with 2.12.50 radio.
More information will be posted in the future.
pst!
good that there is help here..
I'm a singtel user running chucky rom radio 2.12.50. The reason that i posted here is to share my experience bout froyostone v2. The 3g is not working for us since the APN has problem. I have already tried the solution to what they posted but still no use. I ended up using froyostone v1 which is working for me best.
Running hyperdroid 1.5.
Seems most stable for Starhub data so far.

Using 2.12 atm, not the best i would say, no reception at all in the subway.

Hi,
I am downgrading my Radio from 2.12 to 2.10.50.02.2
Not too sure if that is the right thing to do.
Reason is because I have MaesusLeo rom & Energy Froyosensev2 rom on my SD card.. when In Android, I have some issue with making & receiving call,,, I can pick up my call, but they cannot hear me, I cannot hear them.. also, no ringtone, no alarm..

mattcfroyosense1.7ppp stock
Class 2 Sandisk 32GB microSDHC formatted using SD Formatter V2.9.0.5
Non-working and imperfections :
Notification LED (camera flash, charging and hardware buttons works)
Green streak in YouTube HD mode (I use internet flash for HD anyways)
Rare short two to three second freezes (wait or lock and unlock to unfreeze)
Comparisons to WM6.5Pro
Faster 3G/WIFI/SMS/MMS
Better phone signal
Better camera/video quality
Better battery life
Better applications/games
Better touch UI (bigger and more finger friendly portrait/landscape interfaces)
Slower lock on GPS signal (update QuickGPS in WM to improve speed)
Back speaker volume quite soft (WM have SRS hack so far non for HD2 andy)
I have tried ATKs/SUAuditors/SetCPU and what not from the market/appbrain/xdadev nothing works for battery life.
So I decided to uninstall all the utilities and guess what?
Battery life just improves day by day and I now have fullcharge versus sub 100% indication issues.
Well. This is just my take fellas.
I got something interesting want to share. I'm using Radio 2.12.50.02_2. Chuckydroid Rom. Mattevo. Normally I got very low signal in the subway. Today I disabled phone function under wireless manager in wm. Now in the subway I got full bar signal for 3g. Surfing the net the speed fast as if I stand at the top of the building.

Nothing BUT Invalid vender ID as its not for a Tmobile device, unless you use a gold card.
In case anyone is interested I received a welcome boost in volume after upgrading to this ROM. The only down side is that I have now lost Twin Blades.
is there also french language in this rom?
Put this in last night and first impressions are good, but battery seems to drain faster. Have you noticed anything?
Edit: Now seems to have settled down, can't see any other differences in the operation of the phone except my wifi connection isn't as consistent as previous.
Early signs are positive the radio seems better, I'm getting better reception where previously had low signal!

Thanks for the Football, can I ask how you actually knew this had been released as I have hunted all over the O2 site and there is no sign of any ROM's/Updates for the HD7 at all, I know there a pain for hiding stuff like this but if you know the page that has this info on to watch for it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jamie

Only German, English and Spanish.
This rom seems to have far better battery life than the one that came with the phone. Not better in reception though

I can confirm battery life, it has increase a lot. Have no problem with reception with any ROM.
well its not a problem. Just before i used to get 3G in every corner of my room at home. Now it often falls back to Edge
Nice rom this one. seems O2 should have shipped this on the HD7 than the one they did. This one seems to fix the marketplace issues i had, laggy hanging scrolling, crashes etc .. so far very nice indeed .. only complaint is installing the new rom has wiped all my game progress's
I know the roms like miui and cyanogen are landing now, but i can't live with this drug. It's impossible that i've payed 600 euro to have these defects:
1. Slow Charging
2. Modems hangup
3. Modems choising 2g even with full 3g reception
4. Modems changing 3g, h, h+,h,h,3g,h and stucks the loading of the page.
4. Lot of bloatware and even lot of mods to have a rom like AOSP
5. Touchwizard without a simple alphabetical order (incredible)
6. Samsung keyboard with settings key near the most stroked keys
I want a phone to call, and not a phone that stucks itself while i'm working... this make me nervous. I will return to windows phone 7 (know with lg optimus 7), but this time i will try an omnia 7 with 16gb.
IT'S very difficoltous to find it in Italy but i will never return to android, until it's became more stable for CALLING. Remember... a phone make calls.... not hangups!
I hate this phone.
lmao...no issues here...phone is spot on. get a iphone...thats nice n simple.

I have got all the iphone models until iphone 4. It's really a bad phone. I can't survive with a phone that has got a battery of only 6 hours.
I talk very much with the phone. VERY much!
go buy a 3310, do you lovely!
Never had an hangup in Italy, plus you can change launcher and keyboard, so maybe the problem it's you
Sell it and buy something worst, good luck
never 3g, h, h+ switching? you aree crazy
Maybe having ID TEN T errors.

I haven't had problems with 1-4 as I charge at night and rarely have less than 40% at the end of the day and I usually use it on a wifi connection but when I have used it on mobile speeds they have been fast and stable. With 5, or what should be 5, I haven't removed any samsung apps but simply threw them in a Samsung folder as I use the odd one occasionally. If I did decide to remove them it's hardly a big deal with Titanium backup. With 6, I actually like the touchwiz app drawer, then again I like everything organised so the folders work wonders. Finally with 7, why not just try another keyboard? I use swiftkey as it suits me nicely but there are plenty of other options.
No phone will suit everyone perfectly but the genius of Android is that it gives plenty of options. Some will be happy some wont, but creating a thread and posting 'I hate this phone' as the 2nd reply is pointless. I came from a Nexus One (Loved it) but the S2 has really improved my Android experience, everything simply works and without delay. You may have came to the wrong place to put it down
WHat you need my Friend is a GOod All NOKIA
And get the ones with no touchscreen
As soon as Nokia comes with WP7 I am jumping ship as have a HD7 as well and I love WP7 as well
Not sure if OP is troll or serious.
If troll, go away.
If serious, get a Samsung E1080.

Mine charges in about 3-4 hours from 0-100. Dunno if thats slow, but its fast enough for me.

Nice.
We got ourselves an ID TEN T thread in progress... requesting OP to repeat wah-tah-jer-kai-am faster and faster.
All jokes aside, SGS2 still seems to be the best smartphone available.
Why do you even bother to post something like this?
if unhappy with phone, sell it, dont start a thread about how bad it is, that will upset people.
so no more smart comments here, just leave it and it will disapear among old threads.
have a nice day.
Baaah no need to moan like that. Its not that bad! Damn! Ive used 100times worse (desire HD). But you should sell it while its still got good value .

I love mine and deal with some of the issues you have stated. They are valid issues with the phone. I think some can be fixed. I own a samsung focus as my back up phone and love WP7 if thats what you want then go for it. Don't listen to people who think because they own something that it is flawless.
People come here to get information about pros, cons, etc. If everyone was ****ting roses and bunnies out of their ass all day it would be boring.
