Did you just root? Did u also install a rom on it?
thanks for the replys =] im not using the model with a headphone jack, im using the original model 32B.
i have not installed any ROMs on it, im thinking about unrooting it, and then trying to root it again, do you think that will help?

trying will give you the best answer.
You don't get root access on the default rom. After you root you need to install a custom rom to get access to applications that require root.
thanks, worked perfectly =]
OK, so I used to have the MT3G before 2.2 was out, went with the HD2, then the MT4G, and now I'm back to a TMo US MT3G without the 3.5 jack, non-Fender. I user to know the process for root, but now I'm clueless. I can't even remember which is the 32A and which is the 32B (which do I have?).
So, what I need is WiFi tether for my Galaxy Tab, but I'm not sure what to do. This MT3G I bought (from someone on CL) currently has Android 2.2, however I do NOT know if it is stock or rooted, or how to tell. I am not worried about having custom ROM's and whatnot since I have the Tab, I just need WiFi tether...
What should I do? lol
Google the Universal Androot method. That'll get you root then you can get Barnacle from the Market.

Two Things:
1st: When I plug the USB into the phone and PC, it does not do anything. The typical notification is not there either. It acts as though nothing is there, yet it does show to be charging. I can't find an option for this.
2nd: Saw this on XDA in the Nexus One forums for this method of rooting: "EDIT2: Since Google patched the loop hole in 2.2.1, this app is no longer working for newer builds." Does this mean it will not work with a MT3G with 2.2.1, which I have?
***Edit: I emailed the file to my phone, it did not work after multiple tries. Just says it failed... Could I go back to like 2.1 somehow and get it to work? I am needing the WiFi tether STAT... lol
Anyone? I need to do this ASAP if at all possible. I'm at work till 6pm (4:30'ish now) and would like to finnish before I leave...
OK... All the sudden USB mount works. Ran SuperOneClick, it finished saying it's been rooted.
*** NM, figured it out, I'm an idiot... lol
Thank for the help...
Thing is, this SuperOneClick root method is pretty limited. Im afraid to partition my sdcard and wipe it. I just got a refurb MT3G 1.1 mailed to me after I told them my old mt3g was in a loop and i "tried everything". I was hoping to get a 3.5mmm jack 1.2 or some crap. Guy at t-mo store said Id get one if i returned it. Nope. same old mt3g. Came w/2.2.1 so Im having trouble. DO I need to partition my sd to root correctly? Thankx
to the op- take the apk from google dev/labs or off an older rom. adb push it to phone.

No you don't need to partition.
So... The root seemed to work with SOC and Barnacle is installed, launches amd runs. However, I am unable to get any devices to see the ssid from barnacle. I have tried all the customer ad-hoc's, nogo. I have read there could be issues, but not what they are or how to resolve them... Any idea
Thanks everyone...
What devices are you trying to tether to?

Mainly a Samsung Galaxy Tab, Win 7 didn't see it either though...
Weird. I know it works for an iPad so I would imagine it would work on the tab as well. I'm not sure about this one. I know for sure it works with a PC.

Ok, so I am able to get the win7 laptop to see the mt3g with the tether at the link above. However, the galaxy tab still doesn't see the ssid. Any ideas???
Anyone? :hs:
Still nothing? I've used it with various Linux and window OS's and an iPhone and Android's so I can't think of anything else. It should work? You can send me a Tab and ill do some tests =D

You'll need to get root, then you can use K`Tag's method from here to flash back a mostly stock 1.6 Fender ROM. The problem is that the original Fender ROM was never released, so a couple of guys got together and made one that is mostly like the original. So, we just need to get you rooted. Run SuperOneClick again, copy the log, dump it to pastebin, and drop the link here. I'll take a look at it and we'll go from there.
I'm on Froyo on my HTC Evo 4G. Can someone please tell me what is the easiest way to root my HTC EVO 4G Froyo? After rooting it, how would I go about updating to the latest 2.3 update and also keep the root? Any help would this would be greatly appreciated.

I just came across Unrevoked3 (http://noobgui.de/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_root_your_current_EVO_4G_with_Unrevoked3), can't I use this guide to root instead? This looks way easier than the topic you mentioned, but I'm not sure what is the differnce.

use unrevoked it you would like i used it. i had no problem with it.
just make sure you install the hboot drivers and then install htc sync then UNINSTALL IT. afterwards reboot your pc and run unrevoked
i hope im not missing any steps.
Just search on youtube for unrevoked vids. It will walk u rite through it. After you root and get s-off you can upgrade to 2.3 and keep s-off.
I'd love to get root on my MT4G, but I just can't seem to get it to work. I've tried the guides. Every time I get Visionary + running, I just get a black screen (aside from my notification bar) and it never goes any further. What should I do? I don't have root when this happens and I can't get it to go any further.

You can't root with the 2.3.4 upgrade. None of the methods works, not even Visionary.
To root your phone, you need to downgrade to stock 2.2.1
Now use root methods like visionary, root.sh, gfree
Wow... I think I'm looking at the right guide for this... (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832642)
That's a lot of work... Just to make sure, if you perma-root, can you upgrade back to gingerbread and still use root apps, etc?

there are a lot of roms out there that have gingerbread 2.3 for the MT4G.

Use this guide to downgrade. Yes you can upgrade using GB roms after pemroot.
Thanks, I'm midway through using it now. Though, trying to find a link to a Stock GB Rom with root permissions... there isn't one in the resource bible so I'm hoofing it through the Developement board. I know I'm asking a lot, but anyone got a link to one?

Yes, there is a rooted version of the stock 2.3.4 Rom. Just go through the link in my signature.
You can use it after you are permrooted.
... I swear I am usually a lot more observant than that, lol. Thanks a lot ^^.
