Hello everyone, i'm relatively new to this forum, but I've been using HTC phones for how damn long haha.
Anyways, I got a MyTouch 3G basically new off some kid for really cheap. Love the phone like crazy.
I turned it on with home and end, to find that it IS rooted. My current build is CyanogenMod v1.4 + JF.
I have just a few questions. I searched and searched and found what I think are answers, but I just want to confirm. This forum has alot to take in at once. haha.
Am I on the latest Cyanogen build? Should I be using a different rom? Anything I should start with at this point?
cyanogen has moved to nexus development i would use super CSDIv4 remix or super d
as for latest build no ur not on the latest build besides super csdi is really speedy and force closes dont happen often same with super d
cyan is still deving for the magic and g1 just releases are fewer and far between.
so either his latest, super d or csdi...csdii is the fastest but i find less stable. cyan and super d are about the same, and personally i find cyans most stable of the bunch. all can be found in the g1 section.
again all personal preference....
sorry for the mistake

YES I DO! OH BOY YOU ARE IN LUCK! oh wait.... i cant tell you. SEARCH FOR THE ANSWER NEXT TIME.
Best one I've tries do far is the firerat 32b slide port,it's fast and pretty stable, but alot of things are brken, other ones I've tried are more feature rich but too slow to be considered usable, don't worry though,if rumors are true MT3g is set to get an official slide update ota starting june 10th.

Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
You should try CM5.
Or, wait for the official 2.1/Sense update next month.
Does anyone know of a stable Super E rom for the mytouch LE...Im dying for it...If not Im gonna have to learn how to port it over, and I'm a slow learner though I have programming experience.
Surprised that no-body responded, although I found a Rom pretty similar to SuperE...Thanks anyway
Super E comes with support for the myTouch 3G 1.2/Fender already in it.
Cyanogen's multi device kernel is used.

If...I knew that earlier... Thanks
Every phone is practically getting froyo or has a date around when, but t-mobile, and htc are keeping quiet about it. What do you guys think?

I kept hearing at least by the end of the year. Some people say since we got that one OTA update, it means we probably won't be getting Froyo for a while...
I dunno though, it'd be nice. :x
The Slide is getting FroYo although no dates have been given
I think you guys won't get it.for a while...my friend has a slide, and he is a bit pissed that he won't be getting froyo soon

Just be patient, all i know is that it better come before 2011, or else.
I could try to get a port going.....

I heard maybe around October but nothing etched in stone. Its just a waiting game but I am sure we will get it eventually.
Are you guys KIDDING? You are whining on an android modding site, that you dont have froyo!? when they are a plethora of guides and FROYO ROMS to choose from!? Seriously..
@jdv28 not everybody roots so if you are here to talk crap then don't even bother, no life

Plus I think they want Espresso Froyo, not vanilla Froyo.
The thing is that the Froyo is "comming soon" and we the users who haven't rooted yet are undecided to whether wait and get the clean update, or choose to figure the root thong out and get Froyo and its features nooow.
Right now I'm gathering information, reading tutorials, and understanding everything to be ready to root and flash Cyanogen Rom, now I just hope that by the time I do all this I don't want to hear "hey yo heard the news!? Froyo for Slide is hea!" I'd be maaad!!
But this thought comes to my mind... Ain't I getting the same thing?? The difference is that I'd be rooted...

Yes if you were to go and root your phone, you can have froyo all day, but everyone is waiting for an official release so they can keep the Sense UI, which has all the nice widgets and such. I myself am skeptical as to when that will happen. I like froyo and all, but I've always been a fan of the Sense UI, so ill stick it out, occasionally flashing all the other great roms we have.

Why would you be mad?...I think you dont completely understand the whole concept of XDA...Devs can make a rooted version of a OTA rom, including an Froyo Esp when its released...So no worries, have root makes the phone...well yours! Before you didnt have full control and know you do, ive been using android since last october and had the chance to use eclair, froyo, sense, espresso all on my g1, now that i have a slide i only want sense non of that boring vanilla crap, that can kick rocks or something. Im all about Eye-candy, i get bored of looking at vanilla android.

plus, an official ota will also improve all current froyo builds for the MTS. alot of stuff can be ported and fixed like bluetooth, wifi, etc...
It took me ages to decide to root, and once I did, i went back to the stock rom (rooted). Two years ago my phone was a P.O.S. till Cyanogen came up and beat it into shape. Now i have a decent device with OK software. We've come a long way and more and more people are happy with stock. Once they work the bugs out of Cyanogenmod I will probably move ove. Till then, i am good.
2.2 for the Slide should be out before the end of the summer according to our HTC rep, most likely sometime in September. The other bit of good news is that it will include WiFi calling ability.

Yes I understand, man this developers are awesome!
How ever, as for what I've seen the root method is still complicated for the MyTouch Slide, 2 procedures to root and one to flash a room, (I'd like CyanogenMod)
I've dealed with Sony Ericsson Walkman phones modding, but Android's are more complex xO
The things that make me feel like trying it out are:
-Froyo of course..
-Full Flash Player 10.1
-Install apps on SD (I've read it requires more things like a partition and don't know what else)
-Live Wallpapers
-make it mine.....
The things that pull me back and make me feel like not. trying:
What if battery life was better in stock rom??
The tutorials sound a lil' experimental
Besides rooting and rom flashing, there also this Radio thing.... is it nesesary or optional??
I'd like to save my self fun time and head breaking from not trying. THEN WHY I AM HERE?!---- Because I'm undecideeeeeeed xO

Trust me battery wont change just cause you rooted, some say Froyo has "better" battery life, now i cant promise cause i dont use froyo on my slide.I oc and get 1 day+....Well depending on usage of course.
You need to upgrade your radio too, it is very simple to root, i rooted my slide twice with the new new method that just came out(1-2 weeks ago)
Also some people are 15, and have their parents paid the bill, as well as paying for warranty every month, so rooting is not an option for me.

Apparently, the Froyo update for the Slide was supposed to occur after the original unrooted MyTouch devices [if there were any left] got their updates. Hey, we might be getting it before 2011! lol
The first confirmation from TMO said (right after the Slide launch) that the myTouches would be on 2.2 by the end of 2010.
Heres to hoping someone can get a funtioning BT driver from the release when it happens, would be nice to go back to wireless when driving on CM6
There is another post in the general section discussing this exact announcement ...
but this news is exciting! This phone is not dead to me and it's my phone until the dual cores come out. The Vibrant, G2 and MT4G are simply not worth the additional financial investment at this point (sweet deals aside). 2.2 and Wi-Fi Calling will be sweet on this great phone. Now maybe I can get back to my patient waiting because I don't want to be disappointed/frustrated by a "very soon/whenever we want" OTA announcement.

With you on that. Nothing worth shelling out a boat load of money every few months just to have some fancy little bell or whistle that our slide didn't have. But, when something new changes the game and capabilities of a phone, that's the time to upgrade.

The only thing I dislike with Android on the HD2 is that its not stable enough for everyday use. I love that the HD2 is able to run flash 10.1 and the large screen but that's it.

kinda have to dis agree with that.. i used to run it as everyday driver for a month straight with no lags and stuff... but had to downgrade to slide for the qwerty keypad
it even disappoints me that my former hd2 (running droid) battery last longer than the slide

I guess we're gonna disagree once again. The battery on the HD2 did not run better than the Slide's battery when I had froyo on it. The HD2 with froyo worked impressive for a phone that wasn't meant to run Android, but it was not as user friendly as a phone that came with android from the factory. The phone lagged compared to the Slide, scrolling was choppy sometimes and it occassionally froze and that was a deal breaker for me cause when it froze I had to pull out the battery and it was back to Windows Mobile since I did not have dual bootloader (or whatever its called). One thing I do miss is being able to use Adobe flash 10.1

Yes. You should.
Currently there are roms such as:
Windows Mobile (Striped down to the essentials)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843221
Auto loads android upon boot. I've tested this and it worked quite nicely.
I didn't like the fact that the android rom wasn't clean(being themed) so i've moved on.
Energy Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654504
Im currently using the GTX version of this paired with MDJ Froyo Sense Clean for a true HTC Sense UI
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780525
Overall im super impressed that this is a phone that performs nicely with an OS that it wasn't designed for.
There have been other roms such as G2, evo, and some other modified ones ported to the HD2. I would definitely trade if you like having a forum that has new roms to try out whenever you get bored with your current one.
If you can stomach a swap to wmo for a little bit, things are about to get real interesting on the HD2. Developers are extremely close to releasing a NAND flash that will let HD2 users essential remove windows mobile and use Android as a primary os. (Dual boots not too much further down the pipeline as well.)
http://htc-linux.org/wiki/index.php?title=Leo/Magldr
Sorry for the wall of text, but I hope it helps.
Edit:
One more thing to add.
WP7 via NAND from the developer of HSPL for HD2 (Cotulla)
http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-7-shown-on-the-hd2
I thought this was a thread about froyo for the Mytouch slide not an hd2 thread
