Is there a full version (not lite) working on the epic? I picked up my epic yesterday, came from the hero. Im rooted with the syndicate rom, but noticed the "fully loaded" version only had the flash lite...is the full 10.1 not available?
Ive searched around the forum but searching for anything with "flash" doesnt exactly narrow down the results very well, lol.

Flash player 10.1 won't be available ntil we get FroYo - feel free to join that drama if you want to. I am tempted to go back to the hero over all the babies around here.

Hey I remember you from the Hero I noticed the drama but have no idea what its all about. Is it surrounding Froyo? Would love to get filled in sometime
Here's another question...any issuses with the syndicate rom and getting headphones to work? I use an AUX cable to listen to music in my car, and on the hero it switched to headphones when plugged in, but on the epic it doesnt change and keeps outputting sound through the phone. Any ideas?
Ya, I just landed here a week ago, also coming from hero. I have got to agree about the drama. This is actually my Third xda community and I have never seen such a climate. Hope it calms down. I come here for cooperation.
That seems to be an issue with non-stock kernels, or if you are running tock, you aren't running the most current firmware, they have fixed it. I'm running froyo and loving it. I am still using dj29, no dk05. I don't see the need, everything I want works, ujust missing 2 paid apps in the market (understandable due to non official business). Got hulu working great, created a bookmark shortcut to go to the widget player so I can run it fullscreen in landscape. Love this phone, just ignore the drama. I have made 0 comments on it cause really, I don't care, I'm happy as a pig in **** with my froyo. There is definitely a battery boost, too as long as you wipe battery stats properly.

Thanks for the heads up, i read somewhere else about the headset not working on non-stock kernals. Guess that solves that mystery!
So I decided I'd give the new official update for the HTC aria a shot despite all the talk about not being able to root it yet. So far some pretty important things I've noticed is the fact that there is no sideloading. I saw someone on here say that it would be able to sideload - incorrect. The second big thing is the fact that it does not have the touchpad button wake. You have to use the power button which is a huge flaw for me. Someone also said that it would be capable of overclocking- as far as I know right now I don't think you can, but I can't be 100% sure yet because of the lack of sideloading and the 4.99 for setcpu. Some of the cool new features I do like is the mobile hotspot capabilities, live wallpapers, and the market update. So now I want to see what others have to say about it. Please come tell me what you've found!

Did it work?
I want to understand ..
The updates are made automatically?
If I purchased from ebay the device in 3 / 3 and it had not arrived yet, am I expected to see within 2.2 and unable to root?

Did you purchase a used phone? Was it already rooted? Did the seller install the latest update from HTC/AT&T?
The 2.2 update from at&t is not an Over-the-air (OTA) update. It's offered by at&t via the HTC web site. The update, therefore, takes work on the user's part. It's not automatic.
That said, if you purchase a phone from eBay that is factory fresh from at&t, it's possible it already has the 2.2 update - I put the odds at 50%.
For what it's worth, the only thing wrong with the stock build of this device's ROM is the at&t bloatware/crapware. Other than that, it's a solid device, and there are ways to customize the phone to your liking.

don't worry about side-loading.
Use the stock HTC sync software that came with your Aria - when prompted to update, don't do it!

If it is what it looks like, (US version/AT&T branded) then you should be able to root no problem with unrevoked

I'm not sure about enabling RTL support, but I think people have been talking about it on these forums.
At first my phone felt quick when it was processing, but initial response to screen presses felt slightly laggy. I was concerned. But after running it for a few weeks now, without a task killer, it feels like quite a quick more featured phone. Seems like there was a calibration and optimization duration there. Maybe it's in my head? Very happy with the upgrade, especially for apps to SD!
Oh, and add gingerbread keyboard from the market and the phone is twice as good!

You can do side loading by using android injector. You can find it at at harmonyhollow or softpedia. Just type in Android Injector at google. It also allows you to install multiple apps at the same time.

How do you get Apps to SD to work on this rom?
In the past I was using Darktremor's a2sd preinstalled on the Liberated Aria roms.
I am now on the Liberated version of the rom (thanks to Gene Poole - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970272), but I don't know how to do apps2sd here. I have my sdcard partitioned with ext3 (512 Mb), but it's not getting used automatically.

Funny, I just got the new market pushed to my phone today as well. Running a Desire Z on ATT with CM 7.1... Weird thing is, I have never gotten any market updates in the past...
my market updated after the first launch of the app when i flashed the rooted 2.3 release today.
Market now looks suspiciously similar to a windoz mobile layout ..
hmmmm
I'm honestly not a fan of the new Market. I find that the application is slow/heavy to use... The other one I good just blaze through this one seems like I have to wait.

Agreed. Plus on other devices like the Nook Color (Encore) it has caused all kinds of problem getting access to certain applications. Device restrictions based on requirements has really sucked.
It's just buggy. I updated an app this morning and it still says update, and sometimes the update button doesn't show up at all.
The updated market needs an update.

Were not saying it's not. Were just identifying flaws in it's performance. It's not as smooth scrolling or even loading information/pictures fast as it did with the older version.

This one seems just as quick to me. The first boot takes a bit but its good after the first launch.
I didn't like the market the first time I got but now its grown on me. I thought it was so slow.
Now I cant live without it.
You'll all get use to it, don't worry.
Dave
I'm just using it cause I don't have a choice. My alternative at the moment is to push my app from the online store instead.
Hopefully there will be an other update shortly to address the latency issues and FC that are still quite frequent with it.
Got it pushed to me weeks ago. HATED it at first but have forced myself to like it since were not gonna have any choice but to use it. One thing that is a huge new improvement, is the "new" top free and paid. Cause as we all know the top lists never ever change and are always gonna have facebook google maps and gmail on top. With the "new" sections, you get to see popular apps that now don't have to have over 50000000 downloads to get some exposure

Along with many others, I am moving on from my still perfectly usable EVO. I have a daughter who wants an ipod touch and I was thinking of converting the EVO. Since she wants the ipod, I was thinking of MIUI with the phone components stripped out. I don't have the skill to hide everything (nor the time to learn). But, I would think basics could be done by most of us...unless there is someone with that skill, and more interest than just me in this becoming a ROM.
ROM or not ("not" meaning a one off that I do for my use), the EVO will be a more than suitable mobile media/game machine as it's been for me since launch day. Anyone else done this?
MIUI I would think. Use Root Explorer to rip our the phone stuff and other .apk you don't want. Leave in Market and maybe Amazon Appstore so she can get games and music

That is what my old Hero is essentially used for. I did not remove anything but I just installed CM7 and we keep it in Airplane Mode with (Wifi on) and my son uses it to play games.

Exactly. If the phone is taken off the account it wont work a phone anymore since Sprint towers won't allow it to make or receive phone calls so it could be considered a mini tablet at that point (powerful mini tablet tho). If your daughter needs to make purchases she can use the wifi radio to connect to the internet.
The other option is to disable the radio... there is an app on the market called network that will allow you to control if you want the CDMA radio to work... you could install the app, disable the radio and then remove the app. This way IF you ever need a spare phone you can revert the process and have the CDMA radio back online.
As far as removing the phone apks... I have seen many threads that indicate that doing such thing might be a bad idea since most seem to bootloop when they are removed. It make sense that it does, after all the EVO is a phone.

This. I once accidentally deleted the phone apk with root explorer and everything went to hell. Had to pull the battery and do a nand restore. Although, I'm sure if you had a ROM that was designed to operate without a phone apk, it would work just fine. Tablets don't have them.

MIUI is perfect for this.
I don't think I will even have to "remove" core parts (wasn't concerned since I have a nandroid of synergy from last night), just hide them. I would have liked using this before, but the 4G was a killer for me...until now.
Hey all!!!
I've made my return to XDA after about a year of using an old blackberry when my last HTCrap broke.. I was so sad without my android I spent time fussing with my iPad Mini and it wasn't the same!
So over the weekend I finally switched from T-Mobile to AT&T and I couldn't be happier with my service (the LTE is FAST!!) nor the phone cause this S4 is such a treat as I'm sure you all know.
So as I try to get settled back into what was the daily XDA grind of helping fellow users and always trying to gain knowledge of our device and anything Android I felt it would benefit me if I could get a jump start in my new community!
I have a few questions that I know I can/will answer myself but I would value all and any input from you guys
So first off... What's gone wrong with the ROOT???? I was so excited when the S3 came out boot loader unlocked already and all... I had even pre ordered that one at one point.. But here it seems there is only a select percent of users who have attained root on their phone? Seems as if we as a community haven't quite unlocked our phones full potential yet!!
My next question stems from that last question. How is the development scene looking for our device?
I know the Samsung legacy has been a very attractive platform for some wonderful developers in the past, and that was something I was looking forward to with the S3 and is still true for my S4! My question is how good is our outlook?
Anyways other than that just little questions I have that I am sure i'll figure out as I get back into it all
Any good apps you guys could recommend that have maybe gained a footing in the past few months?
That's guys and I can't wait to get to start poking around and helping out as our device gets rolling!!!
Cheers!
Matt

Oh and also guys!!!
This is my first Samsung phone I have had all HTCraps ever since my G1 it was all those htcs!!!! So even though I've read lots about the odin and that USB Jig thing and all that from the S2 days and such I don't quite understand what that is and why it is that we have to pay attention to such on our Sammie's... So if anyone could point me in the direction of a good guide to learning that maybe I would be much appreciative!!!
Thanks!!

A lot will depend on which firmware you have. If you have mdl or mdb your pretty much good to go. BUT, take your SIM out now and do some research. If you have mf3 you only can root, no custom recovery or flashing roms.
Edit, and no odin back to stock. Very important to consider.
