samsung wave instead of galaxy s? - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi all,
I want to use android, but the wave has camera flash and the same hardware as the galaxy s. Will it be possible to port android to wave easily? And is it likely that someone will do that in the future, since I can't do it myself?
Thanks in advance

Well, for one thing the Galaxy S has a larger screen as well as more storage space.
But i think the biggest advantage is the fact that it's running Android OS. To me, this offers much more liberty and potential in terms of 3rd party apps and development.
We all know how samsung is terrible at supporting their products, especially if it's not their flagship phone.
With the Galaxy S, i'm hoping many people will jump on the most powerful android smartphone yet, especially talented XDA devs.

The Samsung Jet and Omnia2 had similar hardware specs too....and look where that got it.
Don't dream about it, it will never happen. I'm not being snarky....It's just a dream.

I Would've gotten the wave long time ago - smaller size , louder speaker (according to GSMA) , better looking , metalic body , camera flash
But the Bada OS just ruined the whole thing , if it ran on android damn it would've been nice ! , now i'll get an HTC Legend over the wave because of the beloved green robot

I am actually getting interested in the Wave, I just don't like the colors of the UI sometimes. and I don't like only 3.3 screen :'( but the specs are as amazing as the galaxy and cheaper priced, and better to use when travelling since a bit smaller and in my opinion looks less classy than the galaxy s.
but it doesn't have light sensor but it does have flash, hmm...
the UI looks smoother than android, the browsing is very fast on the browser and has full flash, i'll look at more reviews.
edit: hmm the UI on GSM arena is much nicer than on mobile burn. it's similar to the galaxy s, blue instead of grey.. which one is the official one? or can we change?

One thing stops me from getting the wave is the lack of 1900 umts band for the use in U.S. However, when Howard Chui previewed the phone on his website I could see the 3G sign. As far as I know Canada only uses 850 and 1900 bands, so it makes me hopeful that the tech specs on umts bands are incorrect.

oh wow last night I was about to buy the wave from Handtec, then I started looking at my HTC Magic's android applications that I Need, and I realized they're not on Bada yet... and I can't hope that they will be, it seems like they're mostly making games for that OS, and I don't care at all about games.
I'll stick to Android and Galaxy S =D
edit: looked into Wave again and found that if we buy it from europe then we won't have 3g in the Americas because it doesn't have the hspa/3g 1900mhz band.

with a f/2.6 lens, the flash isnt all that important. and as for using it as a flashlight? a tiny LED torch costs £0.50, buy one and keep it on your keys - hardly a deal breaker!

Doesn't the wave have Bada? How the hell do you want to remove the proprietary OS? ^^

I think the screen is too slim to put android on it , android requires wide screen , htc tatto's screen is wider than the wave -_-

Loving Hero - Leaving for Galaxy S

I've known and loved my HTC hero for a while now and my contract with Orange UK is set to expire end of September. I've been somewhat irritated by the delay with the 2.1 ROM for Hero, have tried (and not really got on with) most 2.1 ROMS and now am happily running the Modaco 3.2 with root and my new favourite: Swype!
Anyway... The thing I'm a bit tired of with the Hero is the speed. Generally it's fine and I'm used to it, but I definitely can'y wait for more SPEED! So surveying the scene I've decided to get the amazing looking Samsung Galaxy S when it's released. I was thinking of getting the next iPhone but I just can't go back to such a closed system without ROOT!
So... I've LOVED tinkering with my Hero, installing custom ROMS and stuff like that - I'm wondering how likely it is that the Samsung Galaxy S will even be "rootable" or have custom ROMs developed for it? I've seen the HTC Evo but not sure if that's going to be released in the UK and the Galaxy S has a better screen and just looks like it's a better phone in general. Is it mainly HTC phones that get "root"/dev love on these forums or is it likely I'll have much luck with the Samsung?
I've just googled some pics of the Galaxy S.
Both case and the OS skin look like a blatant iPhone rip off I hope it's got a sound recorder so it can save you the trouble of saying "No, it's not an iPhone it's a Samsung running Android" ..... "What's that?"
Even though HTC aren't the best at releasing updates, at least they're original! What's wrong with a Desire?
And yes, Swype is amazing.

The pics dont really do it justice. It does look a lot like an iPhone at first but then as can be seen on the videos of it in action - it's most definitely android! The Desire doesn't have that spanking gorgeous AMOLED screen! [dribbles].... The specs are "out of this world"! [haha!]

Galaxy is better in almost every way, it has a dedicated GPU that's about 4 times as fast as the snapdragon. But it doesn't have such a widespread userbase. And samsung doesn't offer updates afaik so I'd rather get the desire.
Oh yeah it looks like c...
I'm all in for the Samsung Galaxy S too, when it arrives. It's sexy as hell and I know I'll love that dedicated GPU, that's even way better than the iPhone 3Gs'. My hero has served me well, and still does. My hero is also super fast, now that I've overclocked it to 700 mhz.
Edit: Just remembered also, that the desire and nexus screen cannot even remotely be compared to the screen of the samsung galaxy s. The screen is nice on desire and nexus, but there has been some talk about an actually lower effective resolution. Look at how the text isn't that crisp, you will notice.
my friend just got the HTC Legend on contract with vodafone before that he was on orange with a nokia n95 and he lives out in the sticks and now
gets much better signal and the phone feels a lot faster and is built much better than the hero and runs 2.1 you should look in to it

That would be the Pentile type display in the Nexus One and Desire. Unlike most LCD displays, a pentile type display does not have all three RGB subpixels, and uses subpixel rendering to make it 'look' like it has a higher resolution. It's actually Samsung's display btw.
I'm not sure if this is the same for the Super AMOLED, since the S-AMOLED is supposed to have integrated the touchscreen with the display (increasing clarity) and has nothing to do with how the pixels are rendered..
Anyway, I would also advise against getting a Samsung. If you think HTC's firmware/software support is bad.... Samsung pretty much abandons its products after it has been released.
Thanks
Thanks for the feedback guys - some great info here. Bit worrying the comment about Samsung abandoning their products!? Won't that be less so because the Galaxy s is running android? I have to say that the Galaxy S is looking SO good so far that I might get it and just deal with the lack of updates - probably regret it but what choice is there?
I know, I know that there will always be "better" and "faster" when it comes to tech like this but don't you think that 1GHz is about *finally* the sweetspot for running stuff nice and fluid on a smartphone? I mean my comp here at home is a Core 2 Duo and I can't tell *any* difference between this and the similarly specced Core i3 at work for everyday tasks. In the same way, even if a 1.5Ghz phone comes out after the Galaxy S (which isn't due to arrive later in the year anyway) - even though we'd all want a faster phone, staying with 1ghz aint going to be too shabby, is it? The Hero I think is *just* slightly on the wrong side of slow when it comes to speed. Maybe the Legend fixes that - I haven't tried one - and wouldn't want to now some incredible phones are on the way.
Anyway - if I don't get the Galaxy S, what do you guys think is the best alternative given my contract expires at the end of this Spetember? Any announcements been made about the Evo4g or some other super quick phone?
Also - no one's really mentioned but if i DO get the Galaxy S, how likely is it that I'll be able to root it and install custom Roms or updated custom roms in the fullness of time? Does the community in general only tweak with HTC phones?
Thanks again!
Samsung does update some of their Android phones. It's just that they are slow and they have not update them all.
History of updates of Samsung Android phones (may not be exhaustive):
Moment (M900) : 1.5 -> 2.1
Galaxy Spica/Portal (i5700) : 1.5 -> 2.1
Behold 2 (T-939): 1.5 -> update to 2.1 approved and should be coming soon
Samsung Galaxy (i7500) : NO update to 2.x (phone released 6-7/2009)
It remains to be seen how many of the above will get an update to 2.2, if any.

HTC Evo 4G vs Samsung Galaxy S (Galaxy has better CPU?)

I never thought I'd say this, but I was under the impression that Samsung's new lineup would be using their own OS (Bada) rather than Android...I've now heard different and done some snooping.
I've hated Samsung phones, but OMG...
http://alienbabeltech.com/main/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Cellphonehardwarecompari1.png
Just take a look at that!!!
I've got another two weeks that I can return my Evo...should I keep it or wait for Galaxy S?
I mean just look at that - less power consumption, AMOLED screen, much faster GPU, faster RAM
I just got this Evo and I feel like something better is already coming out...
Dude I'm in the same boat as you I just got it and I heard about the galaxy s but after doing more research it seems like my evo is already outdated in some aspects by the galaxy s. I heard rumors its gonna be on t-mobile too and I canceled my contract with them to get the evo. But as I said its better only in a few ways. I wanna see reviews for it but by the time the galaxy s is out I won't be able to return the evo. I'm in a dilemma especially after the problems with the evo like battery life subpar 8 megapixel camera and 720p video and the 30 fps cap (that one gets me pissed) .- I wonder what other ppl at xda have to say- imma be watching this thread.
im returning my evo for the samsung galaxy s pro (with qwerty keyboard) for sprint.
I'm also very interested in the Galaxy. I love the Evo but the screen problem has got me thinking twice and I'm not too happy with how thick the Evo feels to me compared to my HD2. I understand that the Galaxy has a CPU with the same clock speed but tests have shown it to perform better along with the GPU as mentioned. The much slimmer profile sounds very good to me and the lack of a camera flash is a letdown but one I could live with.
Samsung is known for not supporting their phones after release but they have confirmed that the Galaxy will be updated with Froyo. On 2G the battery is rated for talk time longer than the iPhone 4G and is of course replaceable. Also 16GB built-in + add a 32GB micro sd card and you have more storage than nearly any smartphone.
Here is the best review (9 pages) I've found on the Galaxy:

true the galaxy s has some great specs..
but you might want to do a little research on the Samsung support on thier phones. from what I have seen... it is a very big issue. they tend to push out great spec phones and then move on to the next phone to develop; and forget the old.
some times it is not just the specs. how the parts add and give you over all total performance. From reading on other phones.. (ex: hero vs moment).
But it's a Samsung...

That's better than htc who puts out phones with glaring problems and then stops supporting them. I haven't had an htc Pune since the tilt. I was hoping they had changed so I could get an evo, but apparently they haven't. I'm liking the galaxy s pro right now.

True, but HTC's record is just as pathetic.
We'll see when we will have a bug fix release and maybe in 10 months Froyo...
The Galaxy is nice, but if you like the developing and deep hacking and customizing.
HTC is the way to go.
yeah you guys are right - i know samsungs phones tend to sound good on paper and turn out not that great after all. happened a couple of times before. wanted to love their phones, but just couldnt.
besides the galaxy s looks pretty ugly compared to the evo
ok is it me or does this thing REALLY look like an iphone clone? Don't get me wrong the specs are good, but that Touchwiz overlay is a huge negative for me. In addition the only advantages I see the Galaxy S as having is the internal storage (which doesn't matter to me because I haven't even filled up my 16gb card half way yet, so an extra 8/16gb of storage doesn't excite me), the screen resolution (I'd rather have less resolution and a larger screen though), and the processor (same clock speed but faster gpu, seeing as I don't do an extensive amount of gaming on my phone I couldn't careless about that. Not to mention the gaming I do with games such as Gangstar and Nova, which are 3d environments, run perfectly fine). The disadvantages for me would be: lack of 4g (I get great 4g coverage here in Atlanta and also get good speeds on it 4-8megs), lack of camera flash, does not come with flash (you will have to wait until froyo, or install a custom rom to do any browsing that involves flash), and below average speakerphone. The phone looks like a decent phone but it does not have enough advantages for me to make a switch. Just my opinion.
I'll pass on the samsung. I'm really not digging their skinning either. With their post support issues I think I'd rather deal with apple and the iphone or motorola and their new high end droid. That said I'm not going to go and get raped by verizon, I don't want to get raped by at&t either and I'm happy with my evo.

I agree about the looks! It looks way too much like an iPhone and the UI screenshots don't make it look any better. But have you seen the long demo video on YouTube? I forget which one it was, but I have to admit I was pretty impressed by the way it all flowed and this is coming from a guy who loves HTC Sense.
For someone like me, the extra 16GB would mean that I could ditch my iPod 160GB Classic and just have one device (I like to keep all my music and audiobooks on one device). Also reported by a few different blogs, the Galaxy screen is better and the hummingbird is reported too as being faster than the snapdragon in our Evos. And I guess I'm alone in this, but the super slim profile is a huge plus to me. But that back cover is pretty ugly. I'd really just like to demo this thing myself, with my Evo in hand and then decide. I'd also like to do the same with the iPhone 4G. These devices coming out on different dates, sure does making the choice making that much harder.........

I keep reading different carriers. Samsung has said they want the device to be on every carrier in every country and so if that holds true then it will be on all but my question is who will have it first late this month or next month as reported. I have seen some screenshots, showing T-Mobile account data on a Galaxy screen, but now I'm hearing Verizon and ATT as well.......

HTC has been spiting out awesome devices for a long time. ive been hooked since my Axim X50v. that was back in 03

xperia x10 vs vibrant

hello i have a chance to buy the vibrant when it comes out on 6th august or xperia x10 which u guys think is better? what makes vibrant soo good n special? and i heard in few weeks 2.2 will be available for vibrant and x10 is still stuck with damn 1.6 sony ericsson is so slow . thts the only part i hate about x10
Thats a trick question because the Vibrant beats the x10 in every spec other then the megapixels on the camera :/
T-Mobile Vibrant hands down.
- Super AMOLED 4" (This is really significant.. you have to really use the device to experience what is so unique and amazing about it; i won't give you a lecture about what Super AMOLED is, google can do that)
- Android 2.1 and going on 2.2 very soon vs. Android 1.6 (as you mentioned)
- Samsung is a more 'reputable' phone (Galaxy S and above.. not looking at Behold II) brand than Sony Ericcson in the Android Community.
The vibrant wins.
The x10 is outdated and more than likely never going to be updated. The megapixles is nice but the software side of the vibrant makes the pictures nearly identical. SE really butchered the UI and its so slow and clunky.
@zephiK - you are forgetting the vibrant has more RAM, 2-3x better processor, and more sensors...
I've had a X10i before. That lasted with me for a mere two week before I sold it.
Nice looking phone, especially in white. Now this is where all the problems start: Android 1.6. This phone is supposed to be up to par with other Snapdragon phones like the Nexus One, but having 1.6 along with all the Sony bloatware makes this phone feel a lot slower than it should. At times, I felt like I was still using a MyTouch 3G with 1.5 Cupcake. Yes, it's that bad.
Next offender: Screen lacks multi-touch. Not really a big deal, I've done fine with a resistive touchscreen on a N900 before. The problem is, the N900 had a physical QWERTY keyboard. Typing at times feels hampered because if you try to type fast and press multiple keys occasionally, the phone will totally miss the keys that followed the first one. This also means your experience with games and emulators that supports virtual multi-touch controls is crippled as well.
The X10 is supposed to have a better camera, but from my experience, the 8 megapixel did relatively nothing for it. Picture quality was average, being out of focus often.
If you want an eye-catching phone but don't really care about how it performs, then go for it. From someone that has both phones, it pales in comparison to the Vibrant. Good news is that it can now be rooted, but there is still virtually little progress on ROM development for it.
I agree. Stay away from the x10!
Sorry guys I lied lol. I do have x10 but what u guys said.was all correct like everyday I look at my phone And stare at screen and think what should I do and get bored of checking the x10 forum everyday that when 2.1 comes. I did went to bell today they had demo for glalaxy s . I llayed with it sooo smooth n beautiful screen. There was a doodle jump gamr app on it . Wow the graphics ofsame game on.x10 and galaxy s soo different. I did fall in love with it but it doesnt come till friday. And whats the difference btwn vibrant and galaxy s ? When I checked gsm arena both looks different vibrant has more button or whetever u call it . Home button n bak button and.galaxy s that my provider is.getting has 3.
They are slightly different, it can be kinda confusing.
For the United States there is no Galaxy S phone per-say, the vibrant is apart of the Galaxy S line-up, much like the Incredible is apart of the Droid line-up. The Vibrant is the tmobile version of the Galaxys, the Captivate is the ATT version of the Galaxys, the Epic 4G is the Sprint version of the Galaxys, and the Facinate is Verizon's version of it. So as far the the united states go, there is no "Galaxy S".
However Internationally the GalaxyS is a phone, The version you more than likely saw (3 button variant) is the international version. Esencially not much is different between any of the variants International or not. Some have a few things different like a front facing camera or a flash or other minor differences. But they all have the same cpu, gpu and such. The only difference is that the Vibrant is (US) Tmobile, while the "Three button" Galaxy S is the international version.

Here is the confusing part..I think the Bell Vibrant is the I9000 aka the original Galaxy S...the Vibrant mentioned here is the T-Mobile variant which has the 4 buttons...
The Rogers one is I think same as the AT&T Captivate though...
I wish there was a Galaxy S(i9000) that worked on T-mobile's 3g network(AWS bands)

My plan wasn't to list all the advantages but some several significant examples, we could go on and on about it but I just included whatever that I felt that was important. But overall in general, compare the two phone's specifications, the differences are two pretty huge. Vibrant hands down.
I got my X10i right after its release and just sold it last week on ebay. It was a beautiful phone, with an amazing camera. and that was about it.
. No multitouch: extremely hard to overlook for gamers (because they opted for the cheaper digitizer clearpad 100 rather than the clearpad 200), even the G1 has multitouch
. incredibly slow updates: getting 2.1 while everyone else gets 2.2 is unacceptable
. its latest firmware updates has some weird wifi bug
. Timescape is not really useable: more aesthetic than functional
. Still can only be partially rooted
. Cant compare with Samsungs Super Amoled
Being a crazed sony fanboi, i was extremely disappointed with the phone as i expected a whole lot better much from sony
I'm waiting for the GPS fix from samsung before i get the vibrant

5 reasons why leaving the Galaxy S will be difficult

0. Our Devs. Rather awesome. The Epic/Vibrant/Cappy/Fascinate devs. Pretty cool too. And the Nexus S devs. We couldn't have done this without you.
1. Wolfson DAC + Voodoo Sound - the sound output on my Galaxy S is better than my MacBook Pro 13"
2. Screen - 4 inches is perfect and I can't be without Super Amoled now.
3. Dock - love the home dock, a phone without won't be anywhere near as good
4. Stock ICS - the Galaxy S is running stock ICS almost perfectly, I'd hate to be stuck with a manufacturer skin with a new phone - even if only for a while...
Anyone suffering a similar dilemma?

True that. You can see how Samsung has got to the top of the Android pile. If only they'd used nicer materials in the casing I could see this easily laying me another twelve to eighteen months...
For me the number one reason its hard to leave my SGS is the HUGE dev community supporting it. Sound output comes in second(which actually takes us back to the first point, Voodoo!).
The AMOLED screen sure did spoil me and thats why my next phone will be a Samsung, so I cant exactly say ill be missing that.

No I absolutely understand what you're saying I had a HTC Desire before which was metal. Therefore it dented and allowed dust in. Not cool.
I think the SII has an excellent, near perfect build quality, light but dense plastic, nice hyperskin back cover. My only issues with the S are that it's a bit too creaky and the design is dating (if someone could refit it for me into a polycarbonate hyperskinned case...)

maybe is due to my poor english...
what i was trying to say is taht metal has a good look but imo is not the best material to build phone. plastic can ben.. metal no so if phone fall plastic material will absorb some falling damage often leaving the phone undamaged...
metal is rigid so falling damage is full transferd to phone
almost 2 years old now, and it can still handle the newest games & ICS
WolfsonMicro audio, 720p recording (ok, it's not 1080p, but HD Ready is good ), amoled screen, good graphics performance, ...
The only thing that sometimes bothers me is 512MB ram but oh well, ...
Maybe i'll leave my Galaxy S when the S4 comes out
And the amazing number roms appearing in the development section.
They never seem to stop proliferating , I feel like we'll even get android 5.0 when it comes out
I second it all. I'm so happy, that I bought this phone instead of the HTC Desire, I originally planned to buy, when my old phone died. I made the decision simply based on the hardware specs, which looked a lot better. And I was not wrong...
I'm thinking of getting the Galaxy S III, once it comes out - but it has to offer something really unique, compared to what I can get with SGS + whatever custom ROM I choose to put on it. I won't give it up just like that, it will depend on reviews, specs, hardware features in the version of my region, etc.
The only drawback, I can find with the phone, is the missing camera flash - but I've learned to live with that. And that it looks a lot like a certain other phone...
The problem is when those devs are leaving the galaxy S and getting galaxy nexus or SII.. then we are alone in the Android community. But anyway i also thing the biggest community is the Galaxy S 1 one.
With onecosmic 4.0.3 my phone works as fast /faster than new devices like SII etc...
Leave the galaxy S will be difficult for me too... super amoled... cpu/gpu is enough for years of usage... Only new galaxy S's or nexus can be the next option for me
I love you, devs

There was some guy in a thread over on The Verge moaning about how ICS on the Nokia N9 would be a downgrade. And then he actually said:
Have you used ICS on a single core 1 GHz? No? Then why troll BS?

And followed it up with this gem:
ICS is good on DUAL CORE phones. My problem is that he doesn’t comprehend how much of a difference there is between 1 GHz Single core and 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor. And obviously neither do you.

Why would we talk about leaving the Galaxy S (Epic) so soon? I'm almost out of contract and there STILL isn't anything on the market that interests me. Zip, zilch, nada. If it doesn't have a landscape QWERTY keyboard and a fully unlockable bootloader, it doesn't even come close.
It's true, the SGS will be hard to let go, I would know because I switched over to the HTC Amaze 4G for a new plan that required AWS bands (which the SGS unfortunately doesn't have )
To be completely honest, I miss my old SGS so much. It was my first Android handset and the huge developer support and ease of flashing spoiled me into a ROM flashing addict.
The sound chip on the SGS is a dream too, the audio quality is really noticeable, especially if you're always listening to music like me.
I won't lie though, everything is faster on a newer phone, no matter how you look at it. Software can only do so much to boost the hardware, and as we move forward, the SGS gets more and more outdated. That being said, my experience with the SGS will most likely be unmatched by another phone anytime soon. I just simply loved having so many ROMs to choose from. Now, the only ROMs I can flash on my Amaze are pretty much tweaked and cooked Sense ROMs (I hate Sense and we don't have an AOSP ROM yet).
So for those considering a new phone, don't do it! Hold onto your Galaxy S for as long as you can because most of these new phones coming out won't even come near the SGS in terms of developer support!
I'll never leave my galaxy, its a great phone, just got it and enjoy in it
Man, i'm just happy with my SGS. Despite the lack of official roms for the B model, there is a plenity of ROMs from the development section. And man, that means much! My device has a problem with the original GPS drivers, but after the update it can find me with 15 meters of precision (but still needs a lot of time to mark my position).
It was the first high-end device that i bought (jumped from the old nokia 5800 to it), teh camera still do a good job, even without flash. there is a lot of space with 8Gb of internal memory, plus the 32Gb sd card.
Don't lag or hangs when I need, even being the unstable release. If Samsung lower the price below 1000 bucks (yeah, in my damn country a smartphone is costly as hell, the SII was about 1700 bucks here).
I still have my S1 but use the S2 as my daily phone now. All I can say is awesome. If only the audio hardware was the same.

CynogenMod has released a simple thumb rule to check for Ice Cream Sandwich compatibility. There are 2 minimum requirements :
A minimum 256 MB RAM
A decent GPU. [For hw acc]
The ICS release clearly does not depend on the type of cpu the device sports.
An System component such as the ICS rom itself is never built to utilize multi-cores simply because its a waste of battery to do so , only applications such as some high end games can be developed to utilize those cores and get the required performance.
The LG optimus P970 is a 1 ghz single core CPU that is getting ICS officially from LG .
Samsung nexus [very similiar to i9000] is also a single core device getting ICS officially

What spec do you like the most in the S4 and will you buy it?

Hi everybody,
Since the SGS4 is out now I would like to know if you're planing on buying it and what Spec/Features do you like the most. Or is there a spec/feature that will make you buy this phone over another one. I know there's a lot to say but try to find the ONE thing that you find is the most important for you.
I will start by saying I'm really looking forward to have this 13MP camera.

samsung Galaxy s4
Well i like very much Samsung galaxy s4 than iphone 5. I like SmartPause and smart scolling fetures in this phone. i am very exciting for use this phone. really i want it as soon as possible.
Floating Touch. It was the main reason I wanted the Note 2 over the S3, only now I don't even need the s-pen. Everything else is a plus, but for my needs even the S3 specs with floating touch would be acceptable. BTW, I'm talking about the international S3 (I have the U.S. S3 and I'm sorely missing the Exynos features like Screen Modes and Multi Window ).
I like the....nothing there that is like-able....
I'll most probably buy the hTC One!
Dead cookies leave no trails...
Ha ha I should've know and be more specific on the OP. No need to post here if you don't like anything(I personally think it's impossible but..). The thread is "What do you like the most?"
The 5 inch 1080P super AMOLED display is what i really am looking forward to.
Sv: What spec do you like the most in the S4 and will you buy it?
Nothing in terms of hardware specs has impressed me since every spec in the s4 has been out for a while now,
Actually I would choose any screen over amoled since it has very inaccurate colors, like my tan friends turns extremely orange in their pics, my blue clothes turns crystal blue, dark red turns red and worst of all dark areas details can't be seen as good as other screens as everything turns darker as it shouldn't be, white pixels looks gray
The camera is also something that isn't special, Sony have been used the same camera specs for long now, and sorry for hating but music playback has been worst with previous galaxy's compared to HTC and Sony,
And last the wipe hand over screen thing is the worst I have seen in screen development since it takes much more energy to do and gets slower to scroll between pictures and is also looking retarded to do in public than just simply swipe with your fingers, only thing that was good was the eye tracking thing, but that is software and would be easy for me to port while having a front face camera and root
Also Samsung provides system updates that is full of bugs so that they send you hundreds of versions of for example ics or jb, they are not testing everything properly before releasing their updates, I have no clue if this was a problem for s3 users but my s2 user friends complained a lot about it but I hope they has improved since that
It isn't worth upgrading to s4 from s3 since all software things will easily be portable and software was the only new stuff in the s4, as a big company as Samsung I'm very unimpressed of what they provided us
I would go for the xperia z because of waterproofing, design and it's until now positive chock resistance showed in all drop tests, music playback and it's top specs as Samsung and HTC have,
Second choice would be HTC ONE since HTC has the best screens ever applied on android phones, but the 4ultra pixel thing is actually something that I ain't interested of
Once again sorry for hating but these are my opinions and I respect others opinions

I think we've all heard that before. Settings->Display->Screen Mode/Display Mode->Movie/Cinema = goodbye inaccurate colors. The LTE versions of the S2 and the U.S. S3 don't have that option since they use Adreno GPU's and no option was written for it. Plus the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket has strange screen colors compared to the other models.

So? The camera software is just as important in determining image quality as the hardware, and Sony's image processing has been observed as subpar compared to what Samsung has done on their devices.

Only the the S2, and that was the exception rather than the rule due to a poorly implemented Yamaha chip. The original Galaxy S and the S3 had far cleaner audio output then HTC and Sony's competition at the time. The international One X in particular had some pretty bad audio distortion. The HTC One using the Snapdragon chip is finally up to par with Samsung's low distortion and clean output.

How is swiping your hand above the screen taking more energy than swiping your hand on the screen? I'm not even sure if you're talking about Air Gestures or Floating Touch, which have completely different purposes.

While HTC and Sony don't provide any updates so you have bugs AND outdated software. I can't speak for the S2, but the S3 and Note 2 seem to be doing pretty well in the software department.
Only reason for me was the Exynos 5410, as the Snapdragon SoCs are disappointing to say the least. Samsung have still not confirmed which regions are getting the Octa, but based on the pre-orders most countries are going to be getting the s600 variant.
Battery size, RAM, SD Card slot, Screen size, CPU, camera resolution, improved build quality, and weight. I'm getting this phone because the Nexus 4 was a huge disappointment and I lost faith in hoping the next one will be a worthy replacement for my Galaxy Nexus.

As said I would never choose amoled, even changing the screen calibration the screen will be inaccurate in terms of colors, full HD isn't something to talk about, Samsung isn't the only providing it(almost all manufactured 2013 devices) but I see full HD as something negative, it's almost impossible to see the pixels in HD screens and more pixels would be something unnecessary taking A LOT of battery.
USB 3.0: I'm not even connecting my phone to the pc anymore since I can use it as my pc instead,
loading the battery, HDMI output and DLNA has been the only thing necessary for me in terms of connecting
About camera software, that would be even easier to port but I only need to download Photoshop touch and I would have all these features, and if you haven't seen yet since 2012 Sony released a lot of camera features to the xperia v which is also included in the upcoming and released devices, even thou it was released long before s4 they approve much more features than what the Samsung software provides.
If you are wondering the s3 software has already been ported since long ago and it wouldnt be harder to port the s4 software since it is still running on android.
About the swiping one again, would you look normal to interact with your phone as with humans? Wouldn't it take more energy to swipe your whole hand infront of your screen than with a finger? The finger is also much faster than swiping the whole hand...
About the image quality, old xperia arc was processing much better and sharper pics than all of the s2 models, and if you want to compare xperia z's cam pictures with Samsung's s4 it would be fair since both are 2013 devices, and s3 compared to even my old xperia ion is nothing and don't complain of pixels

In terms of design, will they ever do something different to other galaxy's? Will they ever change that plastic body which gives the user a cheap feel holding the device? And designed after nature, wtf is that, a plastic stone?
Something still not clear?
Please don't feel offended as I like to argue

1080p Display, 13MP camera, Floating Touch, 5" screen & 4.2.2 (really wanted KLP).
I can't wait to get my mitts on it! & neither can my sis-in-law.
Oh I'm so glad I specified to write what people LIKE otherwise people would've start writing what they don't like and the thread would be a mess.

Well, I really like the design of the S4. It's a smaller Note 2. I think it's the perfect size for me after 4 months of using the Note 2.
I like the new Exynos 5 Octa and I like the screen (want to test Gorilla Glass 3 so badly ).
I will definitely buy it but I need to sell my Note 2 (I wouldn't sell it right now because I don't want to use one month my old Nokia).

You're absolutely right, the only thing is, there's a lot of discussion thread out there about people criticizing the SGS4.
Here is my theory on complainers (100% not scientific)
Except for some (really few) real expert, most(not all) S4 haters don't have any valid points. All I see is a bunch of kids with unrealistic expectations and another bunch of frustrated HTC fanboy raiding on Samsung's forum like jealous bullies. (I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, if the hat fits you....)
People think they look more intelligent when they criticize about something(it’s called Illusory superiority). It makes you think they know something that you don't. But the real intelligent people are the one who can see beyond the surface. The SGS4 is an EVOLUTION of KING SGS3.
SGS4 might not be perfect but the fact that some people can't find one single good thing about it, proves that they are totally dishonest and probably iphone or HTC agents.

What? It doesn't matter the technology behind it AMOLED, LCD, etc., two displays calibrated to the same target will have exactly the same colors (except that AMOLED will have a much higher contrast ratio, which is actually a good thing). The S4 comes with aRGB (Adobe RGB) and sRGB (Movie) settings out of the box so you don't even have to do the hard work. There are wide-gamut LCD displays that also won't have accurate colors out of the box because they're not working in the standard sRGB color space. That's what sRGB emulation and color managed applications are for.

I'm not talking about colorful filters, I'm talking about the quality of the images written by the phone. Things like color balance, noise reduction, etc. are things Samsung has beaten their competitors at in the past, so there's no reason to believe the S4 won't be at least as good or better than the 13MP Xperia shots. And you can't use Photoshop Touch for things like dual camera recording, the ability to create GIF's with a static background using just the camera app, etc.

If you're using the phone with one hand (which is the only case I can think if in which you'd be moving your finger without moving the rest of your hand...unless you just like to use your phone strangely), then obviously you wouldn't be using the air gestures. I don't see how dragging your finger along the glass has any advantage to moving your hand or finger over the device. The whole hand thing is only for the air gestures, which are more for convenience, whereas floating touch is actually useful like using a mouse with your device.

Really? Reviews called the Ion's camera "average" ( http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_ion_att-review-784p6.php ), and all the top smartphone camera shootouts have the S3/Note 2 either right behind or tied with the iPhone 5, while other devices were noticeably worse.

Excuses. Samsung is still the most consistent Android manufacturer in terms of updates by far. All of their flagships get updates and new features while the confusing distribution across carriers of other OEM devices are left hoping.
