OTA Update offered 1.31.707.3 - any good? - Legend General

Upon checking for updates, this popped up: 3.55 MB, no release notes, just 'improvement to e-mail application'.
Did anyone try already?
My current build is unbranded HTC Legend 1.31.707.2 purchased in Singapore.

In Italy the latest is 1.31.405.4
No update is possible for now....

Also just the 1.31.405.4 here in Belgium

Sent with my HTC Legend using XDA Tapatalk App

I installed it meanwhile (too curious), but can't find for the heck of it, what has changed. I use both, the gmail and standard e-mail application for POP3 mail. Everything seems to work like before.
The new version number is shown as was an 'update successful' message.
Hm. Why can't they simply publish some changelog or more detailed release notes? ;-/

Where and when did you buy it? I wonder if that means, that HTC sends outdated updates, or just different regions have different version numbers.
I also noticed, that the 1.31.707.3. update is mentioned on their support website for SE Asia (www.htc.com/sea/support.aspx), while there is nothing about any updates if you chose India as your country. I asked via the support form for a changelog, let's see if and what they come up with.

Wonder why it's not available for me though

In Italy is now available the 1.31.405.5
but is not clear the changes

Just updated to 1.31.405.5 couldn't find any noticeable difference except that gmail auto syncs again.

Other guys talking about an HTC program adjustment, messaging etc but I have not noticed a real improvement

In Spain was available today OTA the 1.31.405.5 and, no, no clear difference at the moment.
My impression is that Legend changes from UMTS to WIFI a bit faster and establish UTMS connection a bit faster than before (I use Juice Defender, so it stablish UTMS connection every time I turn on screen) But, maybe is only my impression.
I checked that the problem of signal strength is still present (signal strength is lower when you hold the Legend in one hand compared with signal strength if you put it on a table-not in your hands- measured in Settings/About the phone/Network, signal strength) So seems to be no imprevements in radio.

Finland as well. Update available. couldn't find any difference or improvement.

You cannot fix a hardware design flaw with a software update
The Legend's GSM antenna is inside the battery cover, just where you normally hold the phone.

I have a problem, I have canceled the update message

2.46MB Software Update

No, this is not about the Android 2.1 update.
I was just playing around with the phone and I pressed Software update under settings. It told me that updated software was available and it was 2.46 MB. I downloaded the update and the handset restarted to install. After it completed, it said "Could not install update".
I'm running a Hong Kong Customised on a R2BA024 build. Any idea what this is supposed to be? Seems a bit too small for B2BA026? Perhaps an app?
Afraid it is the 026 update. I thought the same thing a while back when I updated to 026.
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Thank you.
Your welcome. Not sure why you got the could not install update message though. Perhaps its to do with having the Hong Kong hardware. You should check that your gonna be able to update to 2.1 when it arrives. I have a collegue who is using a HTC hero who has a similar issue (Korean hardware) and has found that he can't update to 2.1 and is still stuck on 1.5!
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
Yes, I have a Hong Kong 024, and after installing the 2.46mb update, I got 026 firmware.
However, I'm finding that there's an issue with wifi. When my X10 is out of cell reception , (but with valid wifi reception), now with 026 firmware, the network just not work. It seems like when the cell reception is off, it also cut off wifi connection regardless of the actual connection status.

Telus Desire HD OTA Gingerbread - New Radio

Hello all, this was brought to my attention today, courtesy of my news feed from mobile syrup.
Today Telus is pushing out an OTA update to Gingerbread, and according to the picture in the link, it looks like it has a new radio with it too. I have no clue about how to get a hold of this, but I thought I would pass on the information to the folks here.

I posted some information in the HTC Desire HD radio thread.

So far here is what i found after update
Quadrant benchmark is max at 1580
Program opens a bit faster
HTC Message widget no longer have any choice on which sms program to open from
much faster on phone reboot
So is this Telus GB rootable?
Is anybody else having horrible 3G data issues with this update? Whenever I'm not connected to Wifi and attempt to use data my phone reboots. It has made my phone completely unusable. So far I haven't heard of anybody else with my issue though....
It also does not seem rootable. In an effort to prevent having to take my phone in to Telus I tried rooting and failed.

I've been having issues where it won't connect to mobile network .When I try to do it manually it tells me my SIM won't work with Telus, but restarting the phone fixes the issue, still very annoying.
That's a weird one. Mine's even worse though. If I leave my phone in my pocket it restarts about once every minute or two.

Verizon official 8107!

According to wpcentral (http://www.wpcentral.com/verizon-set-push-out-latest-windows-phone-os-update-htc-trophy), Spark_W's may soon be getting the official 8107 update rom Verizon!
Luckily for us, and with very many thanks to DFT and Mwang, we might be getting a Tango rom around the same time!
Yes, so thankful to DFT and mwang for their work. Although I did a lot of homebrew with WebOS, I recently got a Trophy and installed the custom rom after reviewing the documentation. Really love the options it gives me. Check out Metro Themes. Super cool.
The radio update was huge (the radio file itself is 2MB's larger, but it refuses to flash on my phone atm), but I think it is a lead up to 8107... without a doubt this proves that its on the way.
I don't actually blame Verizon for this delay... I blame HTC. The last two phones getting this update are the Trophy VZW (SparkW), and HTC Arrive (GoldC), the only two CDMA Windows Phone 7's they have in their line up at this time. This is just crappy support on HTC's end, and I hope their "One" policy will eventually help fix this by creating less models and models are are similar to one another.
I hope this fixes some of the other weird texting issues that have popped up when sending SMS via CDMA.
Besides the Radio update of 7720 Mango v3 update, we also got a slightly newer SPL (2.04), not that makes makes a difference to most... this update version number would suggest that the SPL of 2.04 will remain in place.. I'm more interested to see if they will enable Internet Sharing with Verizon's Trophy driver (instead of getting a ported release from GSM Spark... although it works in the cooking universe. )
I do, however, think that a build newer then 8107 might happen. If the CDMA texting issue that people are experiencing is indeed a system issue and not a driver issue, its possible that we will see an ever so slighly newer build of Mango (8110+ perhaps)? It will be interesting to see this update hit and see what it fixes. If the SMS issue is fixed among the other crap that's long overdue, it could be that the long wait is due to Microsoft testing an ever so slightly newer SYS to address these issues... same goes for GoldC users.
I just received a Trophy to replace my Droid Incredible and haven't been able to sync to my Google account. I got it updated using Zune after finding an update was available (even though I JUST got this phone from VZW!) indicating it fixes a Google account sync problem... but alas it also didn't help. I'm on 8107 as I look now, but keep getting a "m.google.com currently unavailable" error (error code: 85010017). Anyone seeing this error or have an idea at what the issue could be? I really need my contacts transferred, thanks guys for any advice!!!??

You'd probably read it by now, but from my research it is 8107 and it still doesn't support tethering. I'd guess the issue is they have no way to correctly bill for it, so it's easier for them to just not turn it on at this point.
http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/12/2944147/verizon-htc-trophy-update-rolling-out
There are actually 3 updates that need to be done. 7740, 8107, and the HTC firmware (guessing that's the radio update?)
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/04/htc-trophy-8107-update-hits-verizon-wireless/
I would update my phone to this but since it doesn't have tethering I'd rather just flash DFT's ROM.
No, update didn't support tethering. I need to get the official file list captured sometime soon...

Signal issues with H990DS in Australia? (or in general)

Has anyone else noticed issues with reception with the H990DS specificically in Australia or where ever else? I bought mine from an online site called BecexTech because it was a lot freaking cheaper than JBHIFI but ever since getting it I've noticed varied problems with signal. It seems I get better signal indoors but when ever I'm moving such as driving or in common places I visit I am noticing the signal cuts out a lot or just doesn't connect at all. I never had these issues on my old Note 3. I stream the radio while I'm driving (because it sounds 100x better than FM) but am noticing the signal cuts out at least 10 times a trip. That never happened on my note 3 or only happened once or twice a trip. Has anyone else noticed poorer reception? My guess is either my antennas are bit faulty or its "tuned" for Taiwan or something. (I'm not sure how telco and phones work, I've just heard that some models of phones are made for certain countries.)
Also note the phone was in Chinese (?) when I first got it Check the PIC below
My telco is OPTUS.
Any thoughts.? I don't wanna RMA the phone after only a week and a bit
Oh and I'll also mention Gps accuracy is a lot worse too. Disconnects and in accurate speed and location have been a problem compared to my note 3. I might give the local LG repair centre a call and see what they say.
I purchased the H990ds from a Taiwan reseller. I've had no problems with reception so far (I've had the phone about a month). I'm using my phone on the Optus network.
My phone shows:
Build No: NRD90M
Software Version: V10b-TWN-XX
There is a similar post to yours on Whirlpool, however. I must say that my phone didn't come in Chinese. When I first turned it on it asked me to select a language.

Yeah I'm not sure. The phone came pre setup. But I just changed the language and reset it so I could set it up myself. Could you link me to that thread?
I also have that identical Build No. And SW version
I bought mine locally...yes. reception issues outside of city CBD and its closest surrounding suburbs is absolutely horrible. i barely get 1 bar reception on Telstra!
Yeah it's odd your phone was setup already even from a grey importer, but cell and GPS reception can be changed and tweaked in the system files on the phone.
Your firmware will be setup for tw, if we had root you could change the build.prop system device type and GPS.conf settings to match the Aus firmware and probably get better reception. Checking these files even the Aus version isn't using the exact GPS NTP server so...
Ive had no issues with my jbhifi model so far regarding reception or gps, Optus network.

Is there any app that could just view the build.prop? That way I could compare mine to yours? Even after root comes out how do I even know what to do to fix it? Thanks for the insights.
EDIT: Went and copied build.prop from ES File manager. Here it is: http://pastebin.com/QvTvHBvi Maybe you can see whats different? Because I have no idea what im doing in the build prop, so I dont know what to look for.
I have been using the H99ds and yes, the cell signal is problematic, especially when using in Indonesia. I constantly have to turn on airplane mode then off again to try to get a signal. When signal is good the "arrow icon" would appear but always drop off suddenly. Sometimes I can still access Whatsapp chat without the arrow icons when only the 4G logo is displayed, but I cannot surf. Very frustrating.
Compared to my V10, G4, S7E the cell reception is definitely a notch down. Just got an Windows 10 phone HP Elite x3 and it performed so much better than the V20. A big disappointment.

Thanks, normally you would change the ro.product. sections to match the countries device you are in and update the modem/baseband if possible [check image]. Seems your version numbers are higher/newer than mine. I hhave 10d-DEC update waiting for me to find WiFi to download.
Similar to the GPS.conf file you would change the NTP server to your region plus other settings tweaks.
#NTP server
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
To
NTP_SERVER_AU=oceania.pool.ntp.org
I also want to modify the camera quality and options if possible.
Once we get root we can experiment, also making backups of each file you edit etc in case of bootloops.

Yeah just noticed the TWN in the firmware compared to your AUS. Kinda anoying. There is no official LG downloads or tool to flash stock FW is there? I could maybe change it to the Aus FW if there was.
Well my final question is do you think its worth the hassle or should I just return this phone and buy a legit Australian one from JB. Once a stable root arrives the build prop changes will make it work just as good as the Australian right?

Does your data indicator icon "double arrow" (next to 4G/3G cell signal indicator icon) sometimes disappear or always on?
In Taiwan, Singapore the double arrow indicator sometimes disappear, but in Indonesia it always happen, maybe due to weaker signal? I can use Whatsapp or even play CoC BUT can't surf internet when that happens; have to get the double arrow indicator back by turning on airplane mode and then turn off a few times, very frustrating!

Also couldn't I modify the build.prop from twrp? Can twrp be installed without breaking the phone?

Well I ended up going through with the Aus F/W but it came out... strange? It now has some Mexican Telco apps and the version does not say anything similar to yours in settings. It also has 2 errors on every reboot. I attached some screenshots. I haven't been able to test signal yet because there is none where i am. I will test that tomorrow.
Yeah that's odd the extra apps, knew it was to good to be true. The base band is correct but I've seen that on other firmware also now, so I think we will all get the same versions eventually. Those errors look to be related to an app not finding the correct version, could be LGsmart world or something.
Perhaps the firmware didn't wipe the app data partition before it flashed over.
Are you sure it was the phone and not the location you're at that's caused your reception issues? Almost all locations should have adequate 3g at least now.

I didn't receive it.

According to the link to the factory image it is supported for Verizon based Shamu. https://developers.google.com/android/ota#shamu It is available to download and manually flash.
That last update on the google site is not it. The build number is way different. I think it is ota only till they update the site.

does radio img and bootloader been updated
I got the 911 mb update show up today on T-Mobile usa. Haven't installed it, I'm personally waiting for the factory images to be posted first. According to the others it sounds like baseband was updated, not sure what else. Hope we'll get a changelog or something.
I received the update notification yesterday on T-Mobile. Personally I'll wait to get some feedback before updating. The last time 7.1.1 was introduced, it caused some issues.
Project Fi user here. Downloaded and installed the update.
Still version 7.1.1 w/ patch level of 10/5/2017
Baseband is MDM9625_104670.31.05.51R
Kernel is 3.10.40-gc7ebca13933
Build number is N8I11F
Any significant changes is the system/apps?
So weird that a dead device gets an update out of the blue, and a large one at that! I'll be watching this thread and the ota and factory image pages for info as well! So odd...
Still no post on Google Factory Image page? ... Can someone post the .zip for us to download and install.

I posted the update in the oreo rom repo
This update is now officially posted on Google Factory Image site.
It's a bit awkward.. Did anyone find something different?
It was pushed via T-Mobile today at the just under 1G size. Haven't noticed anything different other than new build & baseband.

Just baseband, and ambient notifications. As far as I know. I thought the radio but no. Maybe modem too.
I got the update OTA, and I don't even have a sim card in my 6 anymore. I just use it as a wifi tablet for viewing movies, etc.
I applied the update and am sorry I did. Having 4 Nexus 6's I was so excited to get it. I have T-Mobile unlimited data and use it for my home internet with the hotspot turned on. Nexus 6 covered the whole house. After the update the hotspot is really poor. It seems worse with my older Thinkpads - t60, x61 tablet. Sometimes I have to turn the hotspot off, wait 30 secs and back on several times an hour. It doesn't seem so bad with my Thinkpad x230 tablet. ( All my computer run some version of Linux mint.)
I set up a cheap TP-Link range extender that is the only box that talks to the hotspot and that seems to minimize the problem. Though it was nice before not having to use it.
I also have a Nexus 5x that is running whatever the latest is, Android 8.1 or 8.2. The hotspot on that seemed poor but mostly in terms of range, and worse on the x60 and t61. No needed to turn the hotspot off and on.
Haven't noticed a difference in making calls.
There may be improved bandwidth though that is just a feeling based on doing as speedtest I was able to download at 35 mbs from the range extender through the the wired connection and that is 10 more than I recall ever seeing.
It may be that the older thinkpads get something out of wack where before they did not. And it gets things out of wack with a difference on the nexus 5x running oreo.
I would like to let Google know this. Any ideas on where to post it or send it?
