Just thought I'd report my findings that the Nexus One does indeed support 32gb MicroSD cards
I got mine late last week, and it works perfectly.
Wow thats pretty awesome actually. How did it go? where there any speed issues because I have seen that loading high capacity memory cards normally drops down processing speed of certain devices....
Where did you order it? I check Ebay but they are all fake cards.
Why wouldn't it work... it's a standard...

I'm guessing it's for movies and music obviously.. But damn, no way in hell I'd ever pay $200 for 32 GB of storage.. That's just me though
I've been trying to find some place that has them in stock. For now, I've got a 16GB Class "6" card from Centon. Doesn't quite have true Class 6 speed, but it is quicker than Class 4.
Unfortunately, the 32GB is only Class 2..... but I still want one so badly
I've been told by several vendors they come in stock in the UK at least on Monday May 31. That's a holiday so many sites might not be updated, but at least you can get it.
99 pounds (roughly $144) from carphonewarehouse:

I ended up paying AU$164 from www.cheapchips.com.au - a very reputable memory seller in Australia. They even sent it express post without additional cost.
The card is definitely not fake. Ive seen Sandisk 32Gb cards on ebay going for $400+ which is really taking the piss.
I decided i wanted extra space for all my movies and music. I previously owned a 32gb 3GS, so I was missing the extra storage.
The card is a class 2, and I find it no different to the Sandisk 16gb class 2 card I used previously. Two thumbs up from me.

× rating
The × rating is a unit of measurement equal to 1.2 Mbit/s. It is derived from the standard CD-ROM drive speed of 150 KB/s. Basic cards transfer data up to six times (6×) the data rate of the standard CD-ROM speed (900 KB/s vs 150 KB/s). The 2.0 specification defines speeds up to 200×, but unlike the class rating system, does not mandate that x-ratings measure the card's sustained write-speed. For most cards, the maximum read speed is typically faster than its maximum write speed, leading some manufacturers to use read-speed as the ×-rating measurement. Other vendors, such as Kingston, use write-speed.[12]
This table lists common ratings and minimum transfer rates.
Code:
Rating Write Speed(MByte/s) SD Class
6× 0.9
10× 1.5
[B]13× 2.0 2[/B]
[B]26× 4.0 4[/B]

Yup. I'm a contractor geek assigned to a USAF unit here, at least for another month or two (and then I can play with my Nexus on the internet! YAY!)
Not sure which peeps you want me to say hi to though...
heya,
Hmm, what do you mean by cheap-chips?
I'm assuming you mean here by fake Sandisks, right?
I just bought a budget 32Gb SDHC card from eBay for around AUD40, from here:
hxxp://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320540826938&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Should I be worried about this card? Is there anything I should check on the card when I get it, or any diagnostics I should run?
Cheers,
Victor

You'll need a time machine; there are no 32 GB micro SDHC cards available at this time. The highest you can find right now is 8 GB -- 16 GB is supposed to be coming in the next month or two.

Its a shame that some people really do live in a fantasy world???
Scandisk have not even released to Japan yet, never mind Europe! & most definately NOT last week???? The official 1st release is next week with all legitimate suppliers taking pre-orders and being very clear that this is the case!
Here's a response from the Ebay Seller quoted by our friend elroy944 after I though I would see what happened if I place the order with next day delivery offered:
EbaySeller said:
Hi there, we have just received delivery of the memory cards and sandisk have only sent us half the quantity we ordered. We can not supply you with this memory card until middle of next week. Please advise if you wish for a full refund or for us to post out when we receive next week. Apologies for any problems this may have caused but as you can imagine this has caused us a lot of pain as we have sold several of these that we can not deliver. Many thanks for your understanding and please advise for a refund or to wait, thanks

If you check you will see thay are actually "out of stock" and taking pre-orders only! They dont get stock until the 24th September at the earliest? so I dont think you'll be paying £47 for anything until next week at the earliest?
MODS: Now we've established that you cant get the 16gb card until next week - and that there is NO item as yet with 32gb capacity can we close this thread? There is after all already a legitimate thread covering the 16gb card?

If you buy a shady 16GB card, I suggest you try to fill it all up with data to see if it REALLY is 16GB and doesn't just report 16GB when it really isn't.

At the moment I'm using a Kingston 8GB MicroSDHC Class 4 and let me tell you; IT SUCKS.
The speed it horrible comparing to my Sandisk 2GB Class 2.
Therefore I would like to get a Sandisk instead. They are pretty cheap these days online. Amazon is selling a Sandisk 8GB class4 for only $16 + shipping. However I'm from Canada, shipping is a monster. On Ebay, most of them are fake and not even Class 4. So do you guys have any suggestion for me on where to buy a "Real" Sandisk 8GB class 4? (well, no need to be Real, as long as it's fast)
I'm not sure about the sandisk class 4 I would try perhaps Amazon.com on that. But as for Micro SDHC cards go this is by far the best card for the price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820208453 Just in case you are wondering it is a class 6 and I have this card personally and can verify that it operates at the class 6 specs.

As stupid as it sounds, newegg.ca doesn't have any 8GB microSD other than from A-Data... and I had really bad experience with that company.
That's strange that they won't ship them to Canada, but anyways I have used A-DATA for many years now and I have never had a bad experience possibly you just happend to get a bad product which unfortunately happens sometimes. This is insane... their shipping rate is $13 and Handling $3
I get about 6MBs write and between 9-10MBs read I just wrote a 1GB dummy file to it and about 3.5-4 mins. My Kingston 8Gb Class 4 take about 4min to transfer 1GB as well. I find it slow. When I did a benchmark using PocketMechanics, the write speed is only 2MBs. That's why i'm returning it. Now that you're telling me it take you 3.5-4mins, I think my card is not that bad, then.
When you said 6MBs write, how did you test it?

Rank in sales means nothing if you're looking for quality. 90% or more of the time the top name in sales is NOT the best quality, just the best value. Sandisk is definitely better quality.

Depends, how fast are you looking for?
I picked up 2 Transcend 8 gb Class 6's on Amazon for 17 bucks each.
I figured its not kingston or san disk but hell 17 bucks is cheap.
Not to mention I have a transcend Flashdrive and transend ram in one machine, it can't be that bad.
I ordered them tuesday, haven't gotten em yet. But I'll let you know how it does monday when I get them. They are actually probably waiting at the office for me....damn I should have had them shipped to the house instead...thanks for making me realize I am a moron. errrrrr....

I guess I told too many people about the steal of a deal.
I got the Transcend 8gig from amazon.. No problems at all so far....
I too am using a Transcend off of Amazon. No issues here, and I will always go class 6 or higher from now on in any of my devices to ensure that I don't get hampered by speed. No issues on any of the ROMs, and I tried just a few out today, to the point everyone was asking what the heck I was doing to my phone.
+1 transcend on amazon class 6. it is greeat.
I've had no problems with the Transcend I purchased from Amazon
Got my new Transcend SD's today. Anyone know of a good app to test the speed? I have seen some benchmark stuff on the forum, but I am not sure what they are using to get their numbers.
What I've been using to benchmark my phone's speed is the app called 'benchmarkPi'. Speeds under 9000ms are pretty good.
Edit: app name correction
I got the Transcend 8gb class 6 off of newegg website. $19.49 with free shipping. Works great. Model TS8GUSDHC6.
*I also use Transcend RAM in my desktop computer and never had any issues.
Easy way to test the speed is to copy a large file from you computer to the sd card. It will show you the transfer speeds as it copies. The Transcend 8 GB I have will sustain 12-13 MB/s copying a 300 MB file to the card.
Look up crystal disk, it will give you a benchie of the card (in windows of course).
Not sure how great it is, but seems like a decent deal: http://dealnews.com/PQI-8-GB-Class-6-micro-SDHC-Card-for-15-free-shipping/361308.html
PQI's a known memory name. I bit on the 8GB transcend on the egg.
According to a few benchmarks, at worst case scenarios, PQI barely exceeds the Class 6 read speeds (at which isn't bad), but it also barely exceeds Class 2 write speeds (which is really bad!). So I got one for $15...
But PQI is known to had write speed issues in many of their flash products.

"Someone"? You'll be very lucky if it's really 32G, be sure to check it as soon as you get it.
sounds fake to me, also they can mess with the SD card so it shows as 32GB when you stick it in a comp but will fill up much faster, im not sure if there is a proper way to test that but see if you can actually stick 32GB worth of files on the card if you choose to buy it
Do NOT buy it! It is 100% fake. I don't even think sandisk makes 32G class 4.
http://www.sandisk.com/products/mobile-memory-products/sandisk-microsdhc
I bought a real 32G Class 2 card from a vendor listed by sandisk. It is fast enough for everything I do.
Gang I ran H2testw 1.4 and it is 30986MByte so yes it is real and not fake.
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...gkQrC0JVzQ1PXC3vA&sig2=BWuCUhNEDlR86_xYSyYy1w
I have a lot of experience with fakes cards so I had it tested before buying it.
Well I hope you are right. I would still try copying 30G worth of data to see if it works.
But there is absolutely no reason why a card that is better than anything around would be selling for a third of the regular price. And when something seems too good to be true it usually is.
By the way, I'm selling a bridge if anyone is interested.

IDK- the storage capacity in memory cards never matches what is says on the label and the bigger the memory card the bigger the gap is... Same with the Hard Drives.
Also my original SanDisk 16gb card that came with the MyTouch Fender edition only shows 14.8gb actual storage space instead the 16gb advertised.
This explains the gap between advertised storage capacity and actual storage capacity:

doesn't guarantee its a class 4(it could easily be a class 2) and it sounds like a low quality chip considering its only 30.25GB but that's still an awesome deal

30.25GB is normal for an advertised 32G card. If I'm not mistaken it has to do with 1 GiB=2^30 bytes=1073741824 bytes while 1GB = 10^9 bytes = 1000000000. Manufacturers report on the one that will make it seem bigger (decimal) while the OS uses the other one (binary).

ya i never bothered to check my SD cards to realize they do that with flash(i knew they did that with HDDs)
PS I think you reversed the terms, I believe 1GB is 2^30

32 billion bytes is the size of the card. 1000 bytes, not 1024. Therefore the card is actually 29.8MB.
I'll still be very surprised if this Class 4 (since someone pointed out Sandisc does not make Class 4 32G cards yet!) is really 32G.

I notice the transfer rate is slow, H2TestW is filling it right now and the speed is 1.5MB.
I am testing it again to double check.
Verizon is selling Sandisk 32gb now for like $149 but an online discount of $50 so its $99 but they were sold out so I bought one from someone on eBay that got it from Verizon and they were selling it for $95 and it works perfect came in Verizon packaging and all with a SD adapter and a USB reader. Theres a bunch of people selling one from Verizon on eBay I'd say check them out they're class 2 but they write at 3mbps for me and thats good enough for me

I was going to buy the 32GB Samsung class 10 card, but after reading up, I found that the class 4 and 6 cards are actually better for Android devices because they have better random read/write speeds. I ordered from Amazon and I'm expecting it on Wednesday... I hope it was worth the $40...
