I have just installed Dropbox on both my PCs and on my Desire. This is a great way of synching files between 2 computers without the need for emailing them to yourself or continually copying them between computers.
THe PC version is here:
https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTc1MjQzMTQ5
For the Andriod version search 'Dropbox' in the market.
With Dropbox on your Andriod you can access files from your home PC without having to actually have them installed on your device. Never forget a file again and save valuable space on your SD card!
How did I ever manage without it?!
If you install keepass on your android and pc and save the file to the dropbox folder, you can have a synced pc and phone password app.

Excellent idea - I was already putting passwords in there, but better to have them protected!
Thanks for the tip!
The dropbox for android app is a bit useless. It only lets you upload certain file types. I was trying to upload a zip file. Why not just allow any file to be uploaded instead of showing you that silly menu of images, videos, music or text files (which didn't even work)? For the other way round, it is useful yes.
There is a work around (forgot it...) but yeah I agree... though it's only a beta, had to be expected.

My thoughts exactly. Sorely requiring updates. Basic rar, pdf, txt and such files don't even upload. Nor did vids with mine, after 2 hours on WiFi, the file size was still 0 KB. There's no obvious way to link to someone over Android for them to download the aud/vid (not stream, which it defaults to). At the moment, I'm only using it to manage already uploaded files from my PC/laptop, and to retrieve them from the phone.
As I've posted in previous threads, I've been using this app for just over 2 weeks now.

I've herd about it in the past but never really paid any attention to it. This is the most used app by me now. If you were ever looking to sync your pictures and files from computer to your phone or pc this is IT! Install .apk's by dragging them to a dropboxfolder on your pc and go install on your phone, I am not sure but I think they also have a picture folder sync option from phone to pc? Anyways the 2gb account is free and if you do sign up please use me as a refferal
Ref-feral link (we both get extra space)

if you don't want to refer me,

I was using Eye-Fi on my camera before this, but this is awesome for file sharing.
Its a great application, I wish it did automatic syncing with folders on the android version. I cant wait for them to add it. (They only just added it on the desktop version).
of course I'd just be happy with the option to sync a whole folder or multi-select files.
I've been using dropbox for awhile for general file access ease, but started using it on my phone as soon as the app came out. I wish titanium would backup from dropbox, but it's nice that it saves to it. I always save pics and files to it before flashing a new rom.
Sent from my <tw> powered vibrant.
I use it all the time, on all my devices.
by the way, in order for the referral to validate. The individual referred must install the desktop client.
I used dropbox to install my first custom ROM (Axura 2.2.6) the other day. Amazing app. I can't believe more people don't use it, if for no other reason that it makes t so painless to put things on your phone, like apks.
+1 amazing! Apps are available for loads of mobile platforms too. If yiu long press an item in root explorer and send you can select dropbox and it lets you choose any folder to send to the shared folder is really useful too!
Hi, how can i transfer files PC>TRANSFORMER or TRANSFORMER>PC via WI-FI?
thanks for answering...
i'm interested two...
also would like toknow if a good upnp soft exit without needing multiple tools like upnplay and moboplayer...
Try AndSMB.
Also if you have a kernel with cifs support, you can use cifs manager to mount your windows shares, so that you can directly open your shared files without copying them.
There are a few ways to do this.
The first is to use SwiFTP. This makes the transformer behave as an FTP server, then you can explore files on it using an ftp client from your computer.
The second is to use your computer as an FTP server and use AndFTP to explore files on your computer to move files onto your tablet.
I use both all the time, and they work really well.
Cheers.
I use ES File Explorer (free from Android Market) on my Transformer (and before that, my GTab).
It supports browsing of FTP and LAN. So as long as you know how to set up shares on your windows PC, you can access those directories from your T.F. and copy / paste / install APK straight from your PC.
or install File Manager HD.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm.hd&feature=search_result
and you can browse files on your pc from the Transformer (once you have shared them in windows.) and set up the connection in File Manager HD.
You can then copy and paste them as if they were on the same machine.
It will ask for login details, these are:
your computers network ip address eg 192.168.0.2,
your log on which is the name you use to log into windows with,
and a password, again, this is your windows password.
You will need to install Windows Media Player 11 or higher and add the shared directories to your 'library' then they will show up on the shared network using UpnP or SMB.

The Cloud
I originally tried that. But, for whatever reason, it wouldn't see my "shares" across my network whereas ES File Explorer did.
Also, File Manager HD has advertisements. ES File Explorer doesn't clutter up your screen with ads. Unless of course you are rooted and have ad blocking software installed on your TF.

This and "my cloud" are really simply and easy solutions that i also prefer, however they are not really wifi, or your home internal network. They require moving the data up over your broadband access and back again. If you have a large broadband monthly rate who really cares i guess but it seems kind of silly to push it up and back again. But at the same time i do't really trust free services like drop box to snoop over my stuff if not to just sell my habits or likes and dislikes to potential sales.

Thanks, this works really well. I hate having multiple apps that have overlapping functions, so was keen to avoid a separate app just for file transfer. Was using File Manager HD anyway, so that works!
As for Dropbox, want to keep my files where they are, not put them in a special Dropbox folder. Also, having read somewhere that the only thing stopping Dropbox employees accessing your storage space is trust (ie no specific security measures stopping them from snooping), not sure I really trust that service!!
Thanks you work much .for information .is Very fine work on my galaxy tab

I have an entire workshop manual for my cars on my g2 and it works perfectly. They are based on htms, folders and folders of website cached type files. But when I open it on my TF through browser I get this weird message like I dont have a connection or something.
Anyone have a fix for this problem? Or maybe another browser...?
This is where I get all my honda workshop manuals

Is your TF connected to the internet? It sounds like you are trying to access the files and your TF will need to be connected so it can load them.

I tried downloading one of the files (the smallest one) and they are all pdfs

I would like to have my phone automatically upload any photos I've taken to BOX (since there's so much room) so i don't have to think about it.
Is this possible? If my phone was stolen (heading to NYC next weekend) I can remotely wipe it but it would be nice if my photos (the only thing of value on the phone) were always backed up/uploaded to cloud without me having to intervene and select each one manually.
Is there a how-to or what are other people doing about this?

I signed up for the free 50 GB but that damn thing is so hard to use. Can't get it set up correctly on my pc, there's no folder showing up to drop anything into, and can't find any decent support on their site. Dropbox is so much better, I got free 5 GB last year with my Rezound from HTC but still need more space.

Since you can't (still?) use their app, I just mapped it as a network folder Makes backup super easy.

Until they integrate with the phone storage so other apps can access the files I cant figure out a use for these things

They have a sync program for windows pc's which is supposed to be just like dropbox and google drive, a folder is supposed to be created on your desktop that you drag and drop files into and that folder syncs with your phone. I've installed the sync software a number of times and the folder is never created. The instructions in the sync program say to drag your files over to the desk top folder so it should be created but its not
I'm looking for something like this: https://www.pushbullet.com/. It requires Android 4.0 or higher, so this itself won't work, but I'd love to have a one click send-to-nook app that I can use to send stuff from my laptop without a cable (especially for pdfs). I was never able to get Gapps working, so emailing myself won't do it. Anybody know of anything similar? Thanks!
Neat idea--less cumbersome than Dropbox for that purpose. How about something like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarterdroid.wififiletransfer
Says it's compatible with my Nook--doesn't mean it will work. There seem to be a few similar. Google "wireless send file to android app"
Meanwhile, I need to look at that
Update: I tried the app and I like how it works...but: when I transferred a book into the internal My Files folder it did not show up in the Library, even after a refresh. Under the My Files tab it did appear but could not be read. So I tried a transfer to the My Files folder on the sdcard. That showed up in the Library right away. Not sure if the process can be tweaked, but it's worth looking at more closely. It may be worth noting that ES File Explorer has an ftp interface (news to me but I found it) but it's not as user-friendly as the WiFi Transfer app.
If you have a dropbox account you can use dropsync instead of the official app, it can sync entire directories so it works much like the desktop client.
However, it doesn't do direct over-the-wifi transfer, so perhaps that's not what you're looking for.
Try airdroid, not exactly one click but drag and drop
