calendar sux - XPERIA X10 General

How do you keep calendar is month view Better yet is there
One out there with nicer interface and that syncs with Google calendar
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App

Go into the menu and set the default view
-------------------------------------
Sent from my X10i

You can sync the calendar with Google calendar...
settings>data synchronisation>google sync>calendar
for the view, like bro iceman said, when you are in calendar...
menu>select whatever view you like.
And before you say the calendar sucks, please ask before showing others your ignorance. It's plain irritating to see such thread.

If you tap on a date which then switches to agenda then close and reopen it is still in agenda view and the back buttons doesn't take you back to month either it close it. Also month view is large enough to show appointments right on that screen but only show little blue bars. In my humble Opinion it can do so much more. In other words sux.

well, it's ain't difficult to use the menu and switch back to month view. Don't know what's the fuss about.
You can always find a "better" calendar from the market.....

Ah and therein lies my original question is there a good calendar replacement that syncs with Google. Such a friendly forum here was hoping for suggestions.
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App

You can try Calendar Pad in the market. Synching with Google is still the same.

Mod. edit: not (yet) t&a related, moved to general

I agree that it is annoying that we can't move to.bb the next month in agenda view. Hope it will be solved...

huh, did you try scrolling the thing up and down ?
It does switch to the next month by scrolling down, personally the only thing that annoys me is that the back button doesn't bring back the month view, except for that it's perfectly fine

In MONTH view, scrolling down brings me to the next month. In AGENDA view, scrolling down does nothing once I have reached the end the month...or what?

Calendar issues

I've noticed this problem on my wife's non rooted stock 2.2 inc and when I was running Virtuous 2.5: Google calendar seems to be broken by htc in froyo. I can create events but when I go to edit them it very briefly looks normal and then all editable options disappear like it becomes read-only.
Does Virtuous 2.6 have a fix, or is there anything else I can try? If not might load up Ruby on her phone so she can at least use her calendar as designed. I imagine it'll be quite a while before HTC provides a fix, seeing as how they are still rolling out froyo.

I saw that a workaround is to start with the agenda view and do a long-press to edit, so it's not the end of the world. Still curious if there are any fixes but it's not worth going thru a new rom for.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There's another bug that's even more annoying. When you edit an event, the description field gets overwritten by the where field. Does
Anyone know of a workaround?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I like the edit bug that changes your date on you to the following day, yay missed appointment.
Well mine is skipping ever other month until you reverse direction.

I haven't had any issues. Then again I am not using the HTC calendar. I'm using a couple apps from the market- Agenda, Jorte, Calendar Pad all seem ok.

Stop market from dropping icons on homescreen

Bugs me how when you install an app it automatically drops the app on your home screen. That can be changed (I wasn't aware after months of owning the the XOOM).
----------
Open the Market app, go to My Apps screen, open menu, un-check Add shortcuts for new apps option.
Thanks for that!

I actually like that feature since I'm usually too lazy to add an icon to the home screen and I find it less annoying to delete unused icons than it is to add new ones.

Galaxy SIII Annoyances Megathread

Galaxy SIII is a fantastic phone, but I seem to be constantly let down by touchwiz stuff. My idea for this thread is a big, long list of annoyances and suggestions for fixing them.
For example, an annoyance: TW doesn't support sorting the app drawer by name, you have to manually sort things and that goes slow. You would have thought they'd have a better way to manage the app drawer by now, but alas, no.
Solution: AppZorter Lite is a free solution that will sort your app drawer for you. Bonus: I like a nice empty app list, so I've gotten it hidden (one thing TW does do) and just launch it from the store when I need to.
Two that I haven't solved:
1) Facebook has filled my contact list with a huge number of people I don't care about, seems to have ignored the "only sync with existing contacts". Removing facebook users is a process: hold on the user, press delete, confirm that it isn't actually deleting.
2) The default MMS app seems to send (or displays?) all picture messages as slideshows. Super lame. Is there any way to turn this out without installing a 3rd party app?
App drawer, menu, view type, alphabetical grid or list.

much easier than my solution. skipped right over that option.
Thanks.
Trying out Pansi SMS as my sms solution, though it's a bummer that it doesn't interact with the lock screen like the native one.

If you goto phone contacts menu display you can remove fb contacts for ppl you dont want
Scrolling wallpapers!!!! (Already made a thread for it)
The app drawer thing is why I didn't use the TW launcher on the Epic. At least now I can install Apex or Nova in the system/app folder.
Network errors, Sprints fault, not the phone.
Oh, I asked that S-Voice b*tch where she was from and she didn't understand. Guess that's what I get for hitting on my phone. :crying:

TouchWiz in general is just a piece of ****. Still running the Epic here and I cursed my phone every day until I put launcher pro on it and it was manageable. Didn't actually like my phone until I rooted and got CM9. My wife is getting the S3 upgrade but CM9 will go on as soon as it is available. She knows how ****ty TW is.

Turn off double ppress for svoice. It is quicker. The reason food the delay is that it is giving the user a chance to double press

Pissed that BB had no accessories when i picked up the phone and i now have 2 micro scratches on the screen from screen sliding along a piece of paper on my desk at work.
I hate the purple/baby blue rim around the phone.
Waiting for a black TPU bumper and black metal battery cover replacement from china to resolve these issues.
Outside of that- much more impressed with the form factor than that of the EVO LTE which i traded for it. The S3 is very comfortable in hand.
Phone is way too slippery!
BTW- Touchwiz sucks! i installed Apex while waiting to check out at BestBuy.

Android Apps that use Air View

Does anyone else know of any apps that take advantage of airview? I haven't had much luck. Here's a list of what I have.. I can try and keep it updated, but no promises.

Toolkit* lol
Yeah that.
It would be nice to see this incorporated into a Web browser and home launcher. Hover over a folder to see contents, hover over messaging icon to see last few messages, etc. It could be infinitely handy in a browser though.
I can't remember where I read they would release the toolkit(!), and I haven't seen confirmation from Samsung on it, but it would be nice.

The manual actually says that it works in "Web browser" (does not say which one) to zoom in on parts of screen.
I've never tried it as I don't like the stock client, but what I'm interested in is hovering over text to expand a list. That would be great.

It works in the stock samsung web browser, of course you have to enable it in air gestures.
I think its on the bottom?
When you hover over text it will give you a little pop up zoom in of the text, similar to when you press somewhere with more than one link and a pop up appears so you can make a more precise link click.

Smart Remote for Galaxy S4 has air gestures too
I think this thread is about Air View, the feature you see in Gallery if you hover your finger over a category. I've accidentally glitched it to be forced ON for all apps on my S5 for about 2 hours. (Went away after a reboot... ) It worked EVERYWHERE. Chrome (mouseover menus on websites!!!) and Google Launcher (only got tooltips for long app names, nothing else) to name just a couple. I'm thinking that Samsung just triggers part of Android's built-in USB mouse code... Maybe we can duplicate my accident with Xposed...?

[CONCEPT] What I would make android apps look like

Hi everyone!
A couple of months ago my mother bought a Nexus 5 because she really disliked that she wasn't able to change anything to her then current mobile phone other than the background: she had an iPhone. Now she's been getting used to the whole Android ecosystem and the look and feels, however, certain simple tasks are still difficult for her. What I then noticed was that none of the official Google apps (camera, gmail and settings f.e.) had the same management. The buttons aren't in the same places and therefore you have to learn what to do per app. There is just no consistency.
That's the reason why I made these mock-up/concepts. Simple and easy to understand. Easy to get from one place to the other. Also, apps which are really close to one-another, like the contacts app with the phone and messages app, are connected via the tab-pullout.

Feedback is welcome. Please keep in mind that this was just something I decided to do in my spare time and I thought would be fun to show you guys. Also, I am sorry certain texts are in Dutch, I made screenshots from my phone and didn't bother to change them .
EDIT 31-5-2014:
I've been thinking about how I could improve my last concept/mock-up and now I've come up with this idea.
It is a combination between the new looks of the Google Keep-app, Facebook-app and the camera app.
Now all navigation is in the bar on top, including the "sub-navigation". All the actions are in the lower bar, which looks just like the bar in the camera-app. I don't know what would be best: to make the actions disappear like the three-dot menu in the camera-app or like the actions in the facebook-app: disappear when scrolling.
Also, with apps like the music-app or youtube-app which have a thumbnail, they can take up some space on the action bar.
If there is not enough room for the actions, the action bar would be scrolable.
If a message or anything is selected, an action bar will pop-up below that message.
The action bar is in the bottom because it is easier to touch with your thumb on big phones (and maybe with some smaller phones as well).
I've put all the navigation stuff together and i've put all the actions together so it is more clear for newcomers and also so you immediately know where to go to instead of searching for what you want.
