Are you talking about Gmail?
No, i'm talking about my hotmail account that i have on my X10. I cannot find a way to delete all the messages at one time, just separately, one by one, and that is annoying. The same with the recycle bin, i can't empty it, only erase one message at a time.
Sorry, I don't use hotmail. But I can say that using Gmail app and Gmail mobile web you cannot "select all".
you have to delete them one by one then go to the trash folder and delete them again : this the most stupid application in X10
there is another way but it's also dumb go to Settings--Applications--Manage applications--Email then press Clear data, it will delete all your emails but your data will be removed also, so you have to enter your Email and your Password again
Hope SE will fix this in the next update

Hi,
How can I delete an Google Mail email from the "Trash" label? I can put them in "Trash" using a long press however there is no option to delete when doing a long press on the mail once in "Trash".
The only way I can delete this is to log onto googlemail web interface and delete the mail from the "Bin" (I'm a UK user).
Cheers.
Anybody???

From the webpage go to your settings and then to "LAB"... try using this "Advanced IMAP Controls".
--M
Thanks for the reply but no joy
Still, on the G1 I can long press in most labels and press delete which sends to Trash however long pressing on an item in the trash does not give any option to delete.
This behaviour is the same with and without that LAB package enabled.
Is there any other solution?
Cheers.
Anybody know if this is possible? It's a real pain having to delete emails from the Trash via the web interface, which is what I'm doing at the moment.
I'm considering that it might be as my GoogleMail account is a UK one and hence the folder is named "Bin" on the web interface. Is this confusion of names what is causing the G1 to not give me the option to delete emails from "Trash"? (Doubt this though, as it *does* put items into "Trash" when I delete on the phone and these can be seen in the "Bin" folder on the web interface).
Has anybody successfully deleted a GoogleMail email from the Trash/Bin using GMail app? If so, how?
Thanks.
Doesn't give me the option to delete things in the trash either.
I guess the only way to do it is from the web interface.
I'm pretty sure it cannot be done through the phone UI.
What is your goal?
I've been using gmail for a number of years now and I've never had a need to manually delete anything from the trash...

Move them into a different folder on the server, they will then be removed from your devices inbox

Emails from Exchange dont take up much noticeable space, unless u specified to download the entire message and not only the 1st 2KB/5KB and if u specified to sync ur entire inbox instead of just 1 week or 3 days behind.
Right now i have 370 items all between 1KB and 2KB, thats not more than 600KB total, that size is not even worth thinking about. The beauty of exchange sync is having exactly the same Inbox/Sent/Deleted items in both ur desktop and ur phone.
You can check ur stored message bodies in \Windows\Messaging and see the size. what u can do is check the Attachments if u download large ones u can delete them under \Windows\Messaging\Attachments.
If u still want to do it, there is only Bupahs' suggetion as there is no Delete Local functionality.
thanks for the info. when i go to windows messaging attachments there are a bunch there but i cant open them. should i just delete them?

Those are the actual email bodies, leave them alone im not sure whats the impact if u manually delete the files, besides they dont take up much space, check how many files u have and the average size.
I had the AT&T Tilt 1 (Kaiser) and had it set to sync with my work exchange server. I did find in the settings there, that you could put a check mark in the box for "Leave a copy on the server." (or similar verbage).
HOWEVER on the AT&T Tilt 2 (Rhodium) that option is no where to be found.
It makes me wonder why they would remove that option from both the device & the Sync Settings.
is there a way to delete all mails out of the trash dir without to click each?
thx
I have not found a way, and this has been a scourge upon my back since I had the Pre this summer. On the Pre, you could only delete emails (in any reasonable way) by swiping them off the screen one by one. It was laggy and took forever. On the Nexus, it's faster with the check marks, but having no ability to empty the trash, or delete all emails in a folder, is beyond ridiculous.
One of the best things about my BB Curve was the ability to click a date heading, and delete all previous emails to that point. I don't know why they can't implement the ability to select a date range and delete, or delete everything.
log into your gmail online and do it that way... *shrugs*
this thing is now the secound i cant do without loggin into gmail...
i hope they will change it, i would like to be able to mange anything right from my nexus and not empting only online...
if you add a contac ur a unable to add a group on the device to the contact only in gmail its horrible...

Hi all
please
I copy all contact from SIM to windows phone 7
now i update it with google acount and i want to delete all contacts that i copied from the SIM in one step
How ?????
I don't want to delete one by one
Thank you
if you have backed up to google id just format and start again, probably quicker than any other way but then i dont know any other way, or sync to a live account, and fiddle with the contacts on your PC, if your talking about facebook contacts go to settings and you'll find an option NOT to display them, keeping your gmail or live contacts on by them selves.

no any way in wp7 or no any program can delete the contacts from the phone
and please if i format my phone can i use my activate code after formatting the phone or i need another one from microsoft
Not sure if this is what you want, but I just long press (hold down for a second or two) to pull up the option to delete contacts from my list.
And also your activation code will work regardless of how many times you reformat or flash your phone.
*Sorry just re-read your post, don't know of a way to delete all contacts with one step.*

When you move the email to another folder, it does not create a copy of that email - it MOVES it, therefore there is still only one copy.
If you then delete this copy, it will be gone to the trash.
Answer: Do not delete an email if its the only copy!
ok cool that will work txs

I think I understand a bit more what's going on...
GMAIL doesn't have "folders" like we're used to in Outlook and Hotmail, instead it has "stars" and "tags".
When you "move to a folder" you actually just assign it a tag, the email stays in your main folder. You can't really make copies to other folders.
Think its wired to have list on left to do nothing with then .....wth. wish they could save emails ....
