New update for 1.6 ...... - XPERIA X10 General

In 2 or 3 weeks SE will realease a firmware update for 1.6 and it will fix some bugs of the phone, it will be much faster and the battery will not drain so fast....
Just wait and you will see...

Any link ?

The question is WHERE will they release it ? I live in Indonesia and here wasnt a single update yet :-( so maybe it's for Nordic Firmware only again.

I have a cousin who is working in SE and he said to me today that thing. That's why i know that...

Mod edit: not dev related, moved to general

yeah, i'm in the united states, will there be an update over here?

erm SE already said this 2-3 weeks ago lol, typical!!

They said this about 3 weeks ago:
"I would also like to emphasise that there will be an additional smaller software update, already in the next couple of weeks aiming to enhance the usability and performance of Xperia™ X10. "
Link
and now, 2 or 3 more weeks to go? huh

Same same... SE slow as hell - lots of talk, no action...

X10 will be my last SE phone, coz i hate this company so much. They don't even care about their customers.

It will be update for 1.6 not upgrade to 2.1 . . .

No they haven't, it said the next 'couple of weeks' from May 5th originally, however that would have placed the update last week. But reading it from today 'next couple of weeks' is nearer the truth.

lol, that is what they said 3 weeks ago, we will be lucky if we even get 2.1 this year.

New Firmware has heading to China

I can understand the dissapointment, i am to waiting for the uppgrade but still, SE is only doing what everyone else does. Like microsoft, blizzard etc, they just want to make sure everything is working 100% before release. If that meens breaking deadline then so be it.. i want a noticeable upgrade/update rather then some fast coffybreak job!

SE puts out a great phone that everyone knew had Android 1.6 on it, it then goes and says that it will update to Andorid 2.1 by the end of the year with the addition of HD video recording, and during the week that Froyo is released it states that it will update to later versions of Android after the 2.1 release. Yet people still decide to "hate" them and they claim to know that SE will never upgrade past 2.1 (despite SE's continued claims throughout the X10 development process that the phone will get updated during its useful life, and that this will be a break from the past). Despite all of this people "hate" them and will "never trust them again" etc. SE has not broken any promise to me regarding the X10 and all these prepubescent tantrums regarding Android 2.1 and 2.2 are just soooo annoying.

I agree with you. Back to HTC.
The only great thing about this phone is support from XDA developers.

Android 2.1 in Q4

Cant believe that im the first to post this here. Enjoy

SE again take too much time.
We might see other handset makers moving to 2.3 when SE release 2.1 update.
Ya, also just thought of this.....no 2.2 means no adobe flash???
Hope they address the battery issue first it just drains on my x10
Sent from my X10a using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Found this on the forum there. And yes they do plan a near future update to address some performance issues and more specifically the battery issues.
http://www.xperiax10.net/forum/firm...a-x10-to-get-uxp-upgrade-in-q4-2010-t177.html
I jsut can't believe that we still need to wait till Q4 while others already running 2.1 for some time already. SE really should speed things up a little bit! In Q4 X10 properly will be an out dated phone....
if we have custom ROMs until then I couldn't care less about official updates

I thought about that too but I have since found out that the flash plugin could possible be made available as an app from the market.
See here:http://http://androidandme.com/2010/03/news/adobe-details-flash-10-1-installations/
It makes sense as it was originally understood that you needed 2.1 to run flash and not 2.2 (Froyo).
I guess having 2.2 means it's preinstalled.
Time will tell!
I guess that as 2.2 is not fully released yet, it is difficult for SE to say how or if it could be implemented. I've had SE phones for years and they are always very wary about promising things before they know they can deliever.
But I do agree that in this more open and enlightened age, SE need to engage more with their customer base...
I've always had issues with the Linux community releasing far too many releases far too often..
Very true in regards to 2.2 not being available yet. On the positive side of things SE can very well change their minds and go with 2.2 (if available). At this point they can only promise 2.1 although they should bump the timeframe up. Rogers is coming with the Acer liquid e which is preinstalled with 2.1 so SE needs to take that into consideration and bump the date up at least to june/july.

SE could change their minds but I think that if they have announced 2.1 it will be because they are currently working on 2.1.
Just as SE originally announced 1.6 and they delayed and delayed until 2.x was released. The launch was delayed so much that we all thought 2.1 could possibly ship with the x10. However the reason for the delay was down to bugs e.t.c. I guess they expect more of the same with 2.1.
If they were to change their minds and bring 2.2, we'd be waiting until the end of Q1 2011.
I just hope they are planning to support the device beyond the 2.1 OS.
I think they have said that they will continue to provide updates during the phone's lifespan (whatever that is....) But I guess they want to develop against a stable platform and no doubt don't want to develop against 2.2 until all the initial bugs are ironed out....
Hopefully they will speed up their development cycles, 6 months to migrate to a new baseline is far too long for their flagship device.....

Yeah X20 with 2.2 by the time all other phones are on Android 3.x

No doubt!
They should have make it into 2 releases for 2.1: 2.1 w/ all existing features/SE apps + bug fixes tested by mid year (June-July time frame) and another one with all those nice and new apps + features in Q4. That way we can be on par with the other (newer) Android phones sooner.
They should hire me as their release manager
On the other hand there is no incentive for SE to keep up the pace for X10 when they will announce newer phones later this year/early next year

I didn't mean old as in the passage of time but rather old as in that specific tweet had been discussed to death already. Was just trying to inject a quick quip before the hordes descended on the thread and flamed it into oblivion.
the announcement is very important. There has been a lot of rumors flying around the market. In this particular time, the consumers do need the official clarification instead of just guessing themselves. Thanks to SE UK for making the announcement again, which should have been done on the SE product launch blog.

Heh, airplanes take years to design, test and build. The 747 for example started development in 1965 before entering service in 1970.

More like taking the blueprints for a 747, building a new body but keeping the infrastructure underneath while adding a fourth floor. It's not as big of a task as building it from scratch but it while take considerable time to develop, test and then finally build it. Might not take five years, but getting it done it under two would be a massive accomplishment.

Samsung Spain says Froyo update will be out at the end of October

Samsung Spain on their Facebook page has said that Froyo update will be through Kies at the end of October
http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=161124793901551&id=108610811866
I think it's only for Spain. Other countries will getting end of September. That what I heard.
probably needs time to translate the ROM from English to Spanglish
Well, if what they currently have is remotely similar to the leaked JPH firmware, I bet that end of October sounds more reasonable as a release date. I don't think they are ready yet.

If JPH is what they have at the begining of September, they still have much work to do. I'm not accepting a Froyo ROM that has bugs that were not present on Android 2.1 ROMs, it would be absurd.
for India too it has been postponed to October WTF!
This better be a great firmware that is fast enough... I mean delY after delay..i think the perception now is ... It better be good.
Having said that jph to me has been the greatest firmware so far... No problems..
Hey let them take the time if they can produce a better firmware.
A few people still report issues with it so why not.
I'm in no hurry. People are so impatient these days.
+1.
Better get a decent firmware 1 month later than get crap now and have them not evolve it anymore.
Of course, both worlds would be better. A free lunch either!

This news is true. I am just pissed off. Samsung is such a big company and it cant even iron out few obvious bugs. the great thing is that samsung has not even confirmed that they will fix the lag. They have not even accepted that their RFS is ****. If HTC and Motorola can release the good froyo builds in less time, then why not smasung? I dont think their touchwiz UI will take more time than HTC sense UI. Samsung just cares for money. No word from htc about that and even worse not even an update that fixes the problems .. The 2.2 update for the Desire also wasn't without problems .. what the hell you guys upset about? it's a good phone yes, it does what it needs to do yes, so you see there is no problem and it's only a figment of your imagination.
besides that I believe that Samsung outsources their coding jobs to third parties what would explain constant delays because outsourcing stuff always gives delays as you have little grip on the company you outsource it to.
so in the end it all makes sense and stop blaming Samsung for trying ;O
I'm looking forward to a stable update that might even bring some benefits.
But come on, grow some patience. If they did have a launch plan for late September and during testing decided it wasn't ready yet, well, so be it. Meanwhile the phone do what its supposed to do better then my old phone and with a gadget factor of 1000 more on top of that. CIV V will be out, the autumn TV-series are appearing and between that and working end of october will be here in no time...
at least HTC flagship device like Desire is not as problematic as ours. Do u see any premier device from any of the top companies has lagging problem like the Galaxy S? (and x10 )
if not because of this problem, i dont give a damn on froyo. i dont need flash, because I've used to iPhone for the whole 2009. Wireless tethering is already available in SGS' 2.1 rom.. i just need a smooth device for my daily use! and i spent MYR2600 to get this phone which equivalents to average fresh graduates salary in my country.
personally I'm not too bothered at the moment as with jm7 (can't be bothered to go to jm8 unless there is a very good reason to put the hours in again) and the voodoo fix along with autokiller set to strict my phone is very nice to use now and does everything I need it to anyway.
It is a little disappointing to have to wait even longer, but I'm absolutely not surprised as I said all along I think it'll be near xmas before we get a good solid froyo firmware with not too many bugs in; besides, I've got a feeling that this will be a big anti climax anyway... I certainly won't be expecting the huge link scores of the nexus one, but my device proves already it has the potential to run as fast anyway already.
Tbh I'd settle for the niggles being ironed out and am not too concerned yet for the os version; for the time being I'm more concerned on the end result.
I too though won't be buying another samsung device of any kind, not because of the froyo debacle, but because every samsung product I've bought has been sub par.

Gingerbread on X10 delayed in August

According to SE blog Gingerbread is delayed in August:
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2011/06/20/update-on-gingerbread-for-xperia™-x10/
While this is a bad news for X10 owners they have some excuses:
"...March most of the 2011 XperiaTM software functionality from e.g. XperiaTM arc will be included. The UI with the desktop layout and pinch-to-overview gesture will be similar and Gingerbread features like Wi-Fi & USB tethering, App storage on SD-card etc are included. Also the customizable horizontal app tray and the media experience widgets from the 2011 XperiaTM Products are in, including an integrated equalizer in the music player. Of course also apps that require Android versions 2.2 or 2.3 will now be possible to download from Android Market, e.g. Adobe flash."

I actually had faith in SE, but now they've delayed their update I don't care what device they will bring in the future. Also the only improvement of our devs their roms will be the camera. I will move to HTC (Only if they get a nice design) or else I will go to Samsung. They said it's planned for end Q2/begin Q3. August is not the begin but middle of Q3!! I'm very dissapointed as SE customer and I spend my damn money on this phone that will not even kept as updated as a Arc would be.
1.5 years left, and I can finally say Hello to HTC/Samsung and bye SE. I don't care what ever they say, they promised fast updates. Well I see, months of work and still a late release then promised. Also, great customer service. NOT, they can't even reply to your questions, and mostly in a NORMAL way without typefaults.

Only for three out of the eleven handsets. The rest have a month delay - that is not insignificant.
For sure someone would make a patch to use arc s ics update to arc.
Mid-April it is.
Oh no, please not this again. I had this over at the Asus Transformer thread and some of the comments people left just stunned me. Luckily so far these forums seem much more forgiving!
Here's the way I see it, firstly, 2 weeks is nothing. The update is coming, that's grand. 2 weeks wait is fine, you won't even notice.
Secondly, the phones work just fine with GB. There's no big bugs, everything works swimmingly. ICS will bring some tastey new features, and that's great, but I think we should accept a delay for extra features on top of some already pretty brilliant phones.
I can only sit here and hope that the Arc community is more forgiving than the TF forum. Obviously not everyone was bad, but there was a LOT of very angry posts over there, and every single one made me facepalm in the name of extreme first world problems.
I'm looking forward to the update, and I'm sure the wait will fly by
must say i find it quite bizarre with the bells and whistles of the new Xperia S, that it it the last in line for the update. Quite odd. If i was Sony trying to push people to buy it, i would give it the update first.
I just want it to be ICS 4.0.4

X10 times are back, at the end it will come in 6 months.
Be ashamed Sony!
I'm pissed because Sony said the want to keep up with updates, at first they did that.
But then they stopped at 2.3.4 and even 120€ 600MHz Samsung devices are on 2.3.6.
Then they said that they won't update the kernel to 3.0 to oush it out faster.
Samsung and HTC did update the kernel to 3.0 and are pushing out 4.0 already!
kuya
maganda ba ang ics 4 dude...?
well
i tried the ICS beta ROMS
all of them are buggy in terms of gaming performance, almost all games are laggy, random blank screen would show up, etc.
also all 2011 xperia devices has very few RAM and i feel it's not enough on ICS, even music player+whatsapp would cause the launcher to redraw (even it's supercharged= =).
so I think Sony has to do more tweaks and programming before they roll out the updates, if they have talented engineer
and Sony also says ICS “may impact performance in some user scenarios” OMG Sony you should have given the devices more RAM.
but.. end of May to early June.. I am pissed off.
I still don't understand why arc s, ray and neo v can update first.. anyway, i will think these 3 phones are bug-testers
People have always said that ICS came between 15marts - 15 april for Arc S?

End May or early June for Xperia Arc --> bye bye Sony for me
X10 times are back, at the end it will come in 6 months.

Dude, just flash LT18's ftf when it's available.
EDIT: Samsung's firmwares are not as good as Sony/SE's, trust me. On the other hand, HTC's are as solid as ours.
Yeah, I know that and I'll do that. But anyways, they shouldn't forget the Arc.
And normal users won't flash other firmwares on their devices, which will make these guys angry
I hope we'll see arconium on official ICS, too

I find it incredible that someone smart enough to buy and xperia is too stupid too seriously that the other handsets dates haven't moved, they were never first in lime to get them. The only need here is the first batch are delays by a whole 14 days. Not big deal. I'm happy to have news, we should be thanking Sony for keeping us informed rather than *****ing about thingd
