How to restore a rooted N1 to factory settings - Nexus One General

Good morning all, I have a rooted N1 running 2.2 and I would like to revert back to the factory settings (Un-rooted).
How do I do that?
Is there a comprehensive guide somewhere?
Thanks!

Awesome! Thank you so much! I can't wait for developers to start using the Cloud to Device API.

I would recommend reading everything in this thread. yes you can revert back to stock after flashing new ROMs. I highly recommend doing research before you start...that means searching. All the answers you will need are contained within existing threads.
Yes, you can restore the original ROM. In the guides to root it tell you to make a nandroid backup. That'll let you restore the original ROM.

It may brick your phone if you are on different radio version.
Yeah, the RUU really got me good. I will never use that again. My phone was useless until I got some help from a member on here to get me back.

Thanks to all and that is exactly what I was looking for. I have done some mods with a Tilt in the past but nothing with my Hero. Now to choose a ROM that still lets the Sprint Navigation work - don't care about most of the other apps that came with it.

How do I reinstall old OTA from (beta) Froyo

Well fellas, the thread topic says it all. I installed Froyo using the download link floating around here, and various problems (camera mostly) have convinced me that this is definitely NOT the retail update.
Question is,
How do I eliminate (beta) froyo and go back to 2.1?
I'd also like to know how.
Haven't tried yet, but sometimes you can just run the RUU. If that doesn't work, you'll probably need to get root again before you can downgrade. No clue if anyone is even working on a root method yet.
Unfortunately there its no way to revert back from the update without root.

I'd you can't figure out a way just give of a couple days. Official update should be here soon.

You should have checked here on XDA before you updated. There are probably 20 posts telling you you can't go back. You screwed yourself. All you can do now is wait.

No, that leaves the OS on there, just removes your apps and settings.
Unless someone figures out something wild and new, once you go to the official 2.2, you're 100% stuck.

I had some problems with the version on here as well, when I factory reset it was still 2.2, but my problems went away (camera, apps closing, etc). You may want to backup and give it a try.

Well, sure, but I'm assuming if you're root, you don't have to ask these kinds of questions
Nandroid restore.
Didn't do a Nandroid bakup? Sucks to be you! Maybe now you'll learn your lesson.
AFAIK, restoring a nandroid is not possible without root.

Reverting back to default ROM?

Hi all, I finally decided to root my G2 today and install CyanogenMod. Unfortunately I'm not too impressed and wish to go back to the ROM that was preloaded on my phone, but keep my root. If anyone has any links or could point me the right way I'd really appreciate it. I've tried googling around a bit but I've come up empty-handed

[Q] Rooting instructions for Samsung Fascinate E28

I am interested in Rooting my Fascinate. Can anyone give me a easy instructions on doing this and is there a way to revert back if unsuccessful?
it seems that ea28 is exactly dl09 with the lockscreen emergency fix, so you should be able to follow any guides here for rooting dl09

Yes, follow the link to Android Central, create an account, and follow the one click root method.
I'm in the same boat. I've had my fascinate for a couple of weeks and am ready to make the jump to hyperspeed...... err at least root anyways. I saw TGA_Gunnman's one click root/unroot for galaxy s. Does anybody have any confirmation as to whether it works with the fascinate?
The best one click root is dirkks at android central, works on dl09. youtube has a video for removing root real easy with terminal emulator. But if "all this stuff is confusing" you may want to read up more before rooting. You can really screw up your phone.
Sent from my stock 2.1 unrooted, fully bloated Fascinate
Yeah I saw Dirrk's method at android central, but will it work with DI01? I have DI01 and still no OTA updates yet.
Dirkks will work with di01, but you might as well get to dl09 before you bother rooting. Seems weird you cant ota... are you checking for it with wifi off?
Sent from my stock 2.1 unrooted, fully bloated Fascinate
wifi on and off, bluetooth, all sorts of things.
I open infopath, check new, it please wait then nothing and returns to infopath
Does it actually say no new updates available? Did you try soft reset, hard reset?
Sent from my stock 2.1 unrooted, fully bloated Fascinate
You could use odin to flash dl09, then ota to ea28, then root with one click

What's the difference between soft and hard reset? I've done everything I could think of except a factory reset.
Would I have to OTA to EA28? My intent was to get to dl30

Ok, soft reset is pulling the battery, hard reset is factory reset, which dl30 will do anyway. To get to dl30 you need to be at dl09 or dj05 first, so from where you are i would just odin to dl09, then do one click root, then follow the dl30 thread instructions.

unrooted, fully bloated (for now) Fascinate
GOT IT! Well ea28 anyways, factory reset did the trick, now on to rooting!

i'm wanting their is a ROM in the development section that is a ROOTED version of our phone with the bloatware already removed. You could download that ROM > backup > wipe > flash. If you are wanting to try something new, and still is a Sense ROM, try eViL Dee's Sense 3.0 port. It's really well done and has some welcomed features.
You could always just go back to stock. ROOT your phone and use Titanium backup to 'freeze' the bloatware. That would be as close to stock as you can get without the garbage.
