add
ro.ril.hsxpa=2 (1 if in US)
ro.ril.gprsclass=12 (11 if in US)
and this will increase your dl and ul speed
to your build.prop file in /system/ all you need is notepad++ to edit the build.prop and then use
adb remount
adb push (c:/location build.prop /system/
adb shell reboot
I have attached my own build.prop
Credit to Cyanogen, I researched his build.prop cheers dude
good luck
Dave

Call *#*#4636#*#*
Then Phone Info.
Then select "Wdmca only"
Last select UPDATE.

No change, averaging 45kbps Download and 60kbps upload.....?!

Do you need an updated sim card from O2? Here in the states, older sim cards will not enable 3g even if the phone works otherwise.

mmmmhhhh, that's something I hadn't even considered...anyone else think this is a possibility?

How old is the sim card? Give O2 a call and see what they say. If you reach a decent rep, they should be able to tell you if you have an issue or not.
They could also tell you if your data is blocked. Do you have a data plan with them?

how about trying it on a different phone, if not then call them up to ask. Its the same here in the UK, you need an 3G activated plan to use 3G. If you have one of those ancient phone setups then it may not have been updated.

On to O2 at the moment, they're checking my SIM out, it is fairly old.....
I do have a Web Bolt On

Result.......new sim in the post, roll on real 3Gness, thanks for the replies.

##DATA#

I was reading on another forum about a hack that involves using ##DATA# to open up a menu. When I try to enter that in dialer, it doesn't do anything. Could anyone stear me in the right direction for how to get into this menu?
The goal is to end up being able to do what is listed in this thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696073
Thanks in advance...
Dial ##3282# and give it a few seconds 10 at most. It may not work o. A sprint leak based Rom, it never did on mine till we got full release.

Second, you maybe the only person on this forum not on an unlimited plan LOL. But, I don't think it would cost you anything more. It doesn't come across as roaming.
First, this menu has a couple of things in it - using the data menu allows you to manually install a PRL of your choosing. The specific PRL people are loading is an AllTel 40050 PRL that allows you to connect to Verizons towers. I am under the impression though if you didn't have AllTel in your area, it may not work for you. It immediately causes issues for me.

I know that some dialers will not let you access this function.
I have tested most of the roms you need the stock android dialer to access the hidden menus...if you push the stock htc dialer apk to your phone you should be able to open the hidden menus when I get home I will get you a link.

Alright what you're looking for is ##775#. That will take you to the manual PRL updater, it also requires your MSL.

No, that seems like an issue that needs to be brought up with your carrier.
Is anyone else from bell having the same issue?
I was having that problem until i installed the new opera mini browser and uninstalled it. Don't know if it was pausing before but since i removed opera the stock browser and market are working properly. Also cleared cache and data under settings applications.
Gave that a try, still no luck. GRRR
Since this has moto blur, try going to settings and data management i think it is or something like that, and turn off data saving feature. It should be somewhere in there.

UPDATE: Unlocking Wimax Settings (completed)

Gingerbread ROMs were not able to tweak the hidden wimax settings. There was an attempt but before it was complete, Google enabled it with a new app in the ICS update (WimaxHiddenMenu.apk) and source.
Update:
having built and used an ICS aosp build, these wimax settings are now available thru the *#*#data#*#* and *#*#debug#*#*
Here is a link to the one I know for sure works:

you can find your MSL which unlocks most of that menu. I use logcat live wallpaper and filter for msl result. it shows up every 5 - 10 minutes and I can use the phone while I wait. It appears taht when you access the menu it grabs that code and it ends up in the log file. A trick I picked up from working on my HTC Hero

Yes.. msl unlocks the data menu... but if u select 'view' instead of 'edit' from the hidden data menu.. you will find a new 'wimax' section. When trying to access it.. msl is required.. but even after doing so.. this does nothing.
I believe the wimax setting menus are NOT blocked.. but simply not there at all. Rather than try n lock out settings.. why not just remove the apks that do so. Seems Samsung wanted a quick n EZ fix.
If we could find out what the epics apks did exactly.. we may have a chance at porting them to nexus.
Orrr ... we find where the settings are stored in the phone and manually edit them.. via hex editing or something.

I came from an epic, Im not sure what the exact difference is. The epic has 4 apks in the /system folder regarding the Wimax:
WiMAXLineTest.apk
WiMAXWTM.apk
WiMAX_NETEST.apk
WiMAX_RC.apk
I have attached a zip with those apks.
Same thing for debug menu. Options for wimax, but doesn't open up. It's like the phone realizes this info is in the wrong spot and has radio and signal issue because of this. Might just be my phone though.

I used Super Manager to run through all the activities in the Sprint Menu, and I didn't see anything obvious (but I wasn't looking specifically for wimax at the time). You can add a shortcut that will take you right to the 4g toggle setting.

anyone have anything?
Idk but this aggrivates me, specially cause my girl just got the Droid charge with omg 30mbps compared to my .6mb 3g and my 1-5mb 4g when I find signal.
Whats weird tho is this. My brother and mom use Clear. They have the modem for direct internet and 2 usb dongles. The 4g and the 4g/3g ones.
The first day I used his Clear 4g usb I was in the middle of the house, and in the basement, it was 5-7mbps.
Then it stopped working in the house, it would only get 3g. If I sat near a window I would pick up 4g. I would have to set my laptop hooked up to a TV to stream netflix where speeds were up and down WTF OMG turtles.
Whenever I brought it to work with me, or drive laptop open to download big files. Pretty much everywhere that wasnt my house it would be 3-4 mbps. Sometimes 7mbps, one time 10.
Then 4g decided to never work at my house anymore.
PS I live near atlanta, and I am in the city.
Anyways I left ATT for sprint, and got the NS4g, it uses the same radio as Clear. 3g Spring, and 4gWimax.
day one with NS4g, i got 4g in my backyard by my back door and driveway, it was 5mbps. I remember it worked because i went outside to mass DL all my market purchases.
later that day, and to this very day, my yard, house and driveway...do not get nay 4g. Not on my deck, deeper backyard or near the Airvana. but i get4-7mb at work via tether.
Was in atlanta the other day, and it worked at 17mbps. I shat bricks and wanted to move there.
Been about 2-3 weeks. Ive had my phone replaced once. 2.3.3 3.4 and 3.5 havent made a difference.
So idk what happened, I blame clear. using my gfs to tether right now. hopefully verizon doesnt find out
any updates?
has anyone been able to dump the phones memory? when i try in cdma workshop the phone reboots. im guessing im hitting unreadable addresses. anyone know a better way to peek/poke for readable memory addresses?

Boost PRL's

Hopefully This will help The Boost Community out there some boost PRLs to download
Hey can we ZAP a verizon PRL into the EVO?
I have a Verizon tower in front of my house my wife always gets great reception, the sprint tower is wayyyyyyyy out there up in a mountain.
stop hijacking my thread i need the prl 61008 from boost and i cant dump the one from my incognito dont have xp no more been looking around the net but no links to the file just people talking about it need to flash it to my evo.
How do I extract it from the phone? I have 2 evo's on boost with that PRL, I just don't know how to get it to you.

I had to zip it since I couldn't upload a *.prl file. Got it off my Prevail.
As for swapping a Verizon prl to a Boost phone. You will get no signal/service at all. Boost phones are not allowed to roam onto any other network. If you have a Sprint phone then you can roam to Verizon... but if you have a Boost then you're out of luck.
Thank you for the PRL
Thanks for the PRL, does anyone have the boost mobile mms.apk?

The prl is to update your phone to the latest tower. You either use qpst or dfs to put the latest prl in your phone plenty of guides out there. If you on a sense Rom you can try putting the prl in your SD card and then dial ##775# and update it like that.

Note 9 SE/UE Hotspot Mod...(Sprint)

I went outright and bought the unlocked, 8GB/512GB directly from Samsung (actually via Amazon and got the wireless duo charger and dex pad for free) and activated it on Sprint. I have been fooling around with the local as well as global APN settings. The global assignment of "tether_dun_apn" that worked on the SGS8+ (which I had and my daughter now has) did not work on the Note 9. Additionally, modifying the local APN to include "dun" in the APN type alone also did not work.
What I found that is now working (and unlike the SGS8+, you don't have to cycle mobile data) was to completely delete the "tether_dun_apn" key from the global settings. Also set the "tether_dun_required" to 0. After that, set the "APN2 LTE|EHRPD internet" APN type to "default, mms, supl, hipri, dun" in this order.
Once I did this, my hotspot will turn on every time with internet connection and has survived multiple reboots. Keep in mind that if you re-provision, at the very least, you will have to modify the local APN settings again. I haven't seen re-provisioning affect the global settings.
You can adjust the global and local settings from ADB shell via "settings put" command (or for the local APN, use something like QuickShortcutMaker as has been done in the past with the SGS8/9 and Note8).
Hope this works for you guys; it is working flawlessly for me now....and no root/custom ROM needed (never thought I would actually prefer to say that)...
Make sure you know what you are doing as changing the APNs (especially at the global level) can render your data connection moot...I would suggest "settings list global" from ADB Shell before any changes - copy that output and put it in a text file so you have something to refer to if needed. If you mess up the local APNs, you can re-provision and it will reset those to normal Sprint settings...
Z

Unknown. I don't know how Tmobile sets up their APNs or if they also utilize the global scope like the unlocked versions do.
You can follow the instructions I gave earlier in this thread to get to the local APNs, then take a screen shot and post it here. Just don't change anything at this point.
We can go from there...

I'm also on the old ED 450 plan. Do I need to have a tethering plan?

I don't think so. I have the MyWay everything plan and I have a friend who's hotspot I have hacked in the past that has the 1500 ED plan and it has worked for him on all of the phones I have hacked for him (S2 up to the Note9)...
You should be good...
