Hi,
I'm using Xperia x2 and bought Mobile Shell 3.5.4 today. I downloaded it, copied to phone, installed several times and... not able to use it. In the panels there is no Spb mobile shell panel which I can then choose. When I tried to started it through start menu I got to explorer and Spb file and can start but when returning to "home page" it colapse and show me just panel I had active. Program never asked me for serial code or something... Any suggestions, help?

ok but it does not help me much, I know the install but it does not work the 3.5.3 or 3.5.4

Have you tried the forum search function? I've written numerous posts on incompatibility with SPB MS and SE panels.

You will be able to install SPB MS unistalling all the pannels and deleting panelprocess.exe
www.htcmania.com has a tutorial maked by dreamcrawler, as you can install SPB MS 3.5.3 and sense.

Has anyone tried both of the above? Which is regarded as better?
Do they backup everything?
I need to send my machine back to HTC for a repair and they say it will lose everything so I will back it up. So I want to back up everything!
Before I get a program to do this can anyone shed some light on which is best and why?
Vote for SPB. Extremely fool proof. Havent used Sprite.

I have been using SPB for 2 years and I have to say it is the best for me , easy to customize and quick, has all the features that u need. creates a self extracting restore file u don't need to reinstall SPB to use it. Give it a try. Sprite is just as good I have used it as well but I have to recommend SPB for ease of use.

If i remember correctly Sprite does NOT Backup the Registry.
Vote for SPB too.

So, from a hard reset by starting the self extracting executable my device would be returned to its original state? Is that correct?
for_me, Spb Backup
Sprite is more capable - can restore to a different device something spb cannot do?

And what if you change ROM in the meantime? Or if you upgrade to WM6 and the backup was done on the WM5?

Neither Sprite nor Spb will help you there, remember you're basically changing the OS while your installed programs relate to the installed OS at that time.

So they don't actually change the OS back to the version that was previously installed? All the programs do is put back what system settings and programs were previously installed?
Is that correct?

Yes!......... they are basically a Backup program which when in trouble they will restore your Device to the same state and configuration as when you did the backup. This saves a lot of time when you Device gets totally stuck and needs a "Hard" Reset.......then you only need to double click on the backup exe. file (which should be on your SD card) and "Walla" you get it all back without having to waste hours in reloading your original programs.

Default HTC Weather
Hi,
I was using the .99 version and the same has happened in this version. I have been trying to work out and how to have the weather screen working. I Use HTC Weather, the default weather program. I followed the instructions of putting the small.png in the windows folder. It still does not read the icons!
How am I able to rectify this. I have searched everywhere, and been working on this for a 5 days now!
Has anyone any suggestions. I cannot believe I am the first person on original ROM, and default weather......

All you have to do is copy all the small icons in your HTC Home directory to the Windows directory. Then run the iLock command twice. Make sure to set HTC Weather as the weather program using the S2U2 settings program in the S2U2 program folder.

I can't work out why it is not working............I have been doing all of that! Do they have to be directly in the windows directory; ie. windows/HH_WEATHER_31small

Yep, directly in the Windows directory. If that doesn't work, then try uninstalling it and reinstall.
I have finaly been able to extract this Awsome theme from my Phone, i have also managed to make a Cab file for easy installation.
How it got onto my phone is a looong story, i was messing about with some skins i downloaded in a mega skin pack and managed to make this bizzare, cool looking theme....

if you have spb mobile installed this theme will take around 1mb since it only replaces the exisiting files of spb mobile.

you must install spb mobile to main memory, then install this theme to main memory as well.
If your spb mobile is not installed on main memory then maybe that is why it wont work, in that case you will have to copy the files manually into your spb mobile shell directory.

I Installed SPB Mobile and this theme, but the theme is the original that comes with SPB Mobile. How do I change it?

since I installed the new Panel Manager R3A the SPB Mobil Shell Panel doesn`t show an new incomming SMS.
have anybody a solution?

I've had nothing but problems with the R3A Panel Manager. If I were you, I would just go back to R2A.
The old SPB mobile shell has this problem... install the new version and it works fine.

I hope someone would be able to help me as I had mess up my phone. Earlier, I login to windows market place and then I installed SPB Mobile shell. I tried to uninstall SPB Mobile shell but unfortunately it can't be uninstall and the original HTC HD2 theme can't be restore. Can someone help me or teach me how to restore my original theme? Help is really appreciate! Thanks alot!
hmmm i thinkfirst u need to turn of the spb shell just go under the setting and today and under apperance tab unchek spb shell and check htc sence that shud turn it on and also six enable you to uninstall spb too

Many thanks for your kind help Jim, I managed to get back my HTC HD2 Original Theme. But SPB shell auto loads on startup and this prevents me from uninstalling the application. Any more idea how this could be solved?

np ok so to remove the spb startup open file explorer and under my device there sud b a windows folder open tht nd go into the startup folder and just delete nything u c tht has to do with the spb shell eithers its call shell.exe or something once u delete tht u sud good b goodto go

this method did not help me.... im trying to take out the spb shel and launcher out of my phone and delete it forever.. i ddeleted it and wen i press home it still shows the spb on it. thanx a lot for the reply..

Hi,
try to re-install SPB-MS. The first question is "uninstall?". If the uninstall works you can cancel the install. If not I would do a new install and try to uninstall after that.

Go to \windows\AppMgr and delete everything that has to do with SPB. Then go to Programfiles and look for a folder of SPB and also delete that. Go to windows\startup and delelte all entries pointing to SPN. Soft reset, and it should work.
