i just got my tattoo today(yes i know i should have waited for a wilf fire but this was in my budget) well it was just made craze to buy android and im kinda lost here(in a Winmo user) can u kindly guide me on the following and im writing this after searching in this forum so kindly help
1. how to set various ring tones i mean my personal tone as my incoming ring tone on the Winmo i just need to move the tone called ringtone on the base
of the phone memory i searched my phone i cant do it on the android phone
2. on the winmo i had some thing called people ie i can put the contacts of the people i call often on a Widget on the screen i go to it and touch the name and i can call him can u pls tell me how to do the same here
if u can kindly point me out to the thread also i would be most obliged

to set notifications,
on the sd card there will be a folder called media.
in it will be folders called ringtones, notifications etc. add files as u want in the required folders.
then goto settings, sound and display, and set the tones..
for people, there is nothing such on the android os. ppl was a part of the touch flo that htc gave over winmob. tatoo has nothing such// so use the contacts manager of android..

For people you don't need a widget, on Android you can add a shortcut to a contact to the desktop (long press on the desktop, shortcuts > Contact/Direct dial/Direct message), choosing whether you want that shortcut to be direct dial, direct message or just list all available contact methods. If you first create a folder on the desktop (long press on the desktop, folders, new folder) you can add all the contacts you wish there, personally I just use the right most desktop screen for contacts.
Also you can try playing with Favourites (UK spelling!) in the contacts menu, it may do what you need.
However saying this I'm not sure which version of Android runs on the tattoo so you may not have some of these features...

What does it do? Allow you to quickly go to the proper letter by sliding down the side?
I use pocketcm for my contacts. It allows you to scroll with your finger and has this option built in.

But it takes 1 mb of program memory and and the HTC contact application just merely takes 20kb.
this is wat i did
just put the 3 images in your windows directory and the exe called RadomAccess, then use a reg editor to put this in:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\11 3]
@=Contacts
Open="\Windows\RandomAccess.exe"

Under Options in Contacts, you have to remove the tick on "Show Alfabetic List".
That did the trick for me anyway.... Hope it helps!

Is there somebody still working to port it on wizard???
Tested it on my mogul... It adds the functionality to use shortcuts to get to letters from the shortcut letters on the side but you've got to have a touch style scroller to actually be able to scroll down the list since you'll be missing the scroll bar.
It also apparently didn't remove completely when I uninstalled it.
*Edit: It is also not useful for non-latin alphabet contacts.

I found a cab on the elf forum but it had some flaws
first of all there was a space between M and SCONTACTS
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SCONTACTS]

I corrected this and changed the values in the following manner

loads a lot quicker on my trinity now
at last added the following key

[EDIT: when i wrote this post there wasn't any space between M and SCONTACTS, but when i reviewed it there is one can this have something to with the colon in front of the M? probably why this error got into the cab in the first place (cut and paste) . Well, it's not there in the cab anymore]

There's an idea, lets make a new app and call it "1Contact", that would go great on my "1Pod" or "1Phone".
Have you tried one of the many, many, many today plugins like "Picture Contacts" or "Spb Phone Suite"?
Those will put a picture of the person on your today screen so you can just touch it to make a call.

See nir, it's not too hard to add some constructive comments to your "FUN" posts
I forgot a bout HTC Home, but you would have to press a tab on that first, Spb Phone Suite would probly be as close to a "One Click" app that he's looking for. After all, one less click on the phone equals one more click available for the Playstation or XBox.

i have my X1 for 4 days now and i managed to install some tools. xperiatweaker, g-alarm, ms voice command and the you tube panel!
what i would like to know is: where can i find an index of available panels or are they made custom ..(how) ?
is there a way to get the audio louder ? for example in g-alarm i can raise the vloume by a pre-amplifier...
how can i assign ringtones / caller picturesto my contacts or even create groups and the assign "group ringtones" ?

after 3 days of reading i decided to flash the latest xperience 3.5 rom... really nice and lots of nice tools!
but im still having some problems switching panels... can switch from tf3d panel to the standard SE panel BUT not back... when i press teh panel button my phone freezes immediately and i have to take out the battery... any ideas ?

well, to assign ringtones/caller pictures, you would have to set up the contacts as an outlook contact (different from sim)
as for groups, i've still got idea. I've only gotten my xperia for 5 days :x
thanks! but how do i set up the SIM contacs as outlook contacts without having double entries ?
the freezing problem gets really anoying... i just can use the TF3D panel..., i can switch the panel ONCE and then if i press the panel button ....freeeze!
and there is another bug... i tried to change the keylock setting so that i can activate the screen by ANY button... but somehow the setting is not saved properly cuz i still have to use the I/O button on top...?

btw----installed the YOTA contacts...very cool and you can create several groups and assign ringtones =)
for sim contacts, you can tweak it to show only outlook.. maybe xperia tweak has it..

on demand of some users i am trying to port the version i make to a 6.5.x rom
all seems to be going tnice except on thing
when i go to start>settings>sounds¬ifications>notificatios
you can chooseringtones for different events
when i want to change it for new message i get a scroll bar at the side as there are more options for a new messgae then for a call
when i want to select a ringtone for a text message i cant scroll that list but the background is being scrolled
if i tap and hold a little i can scroll the ringtone list:-o
i know it has to be added to the exceptions list of touchflo but i cant seem to find wich command
i attached a pic to show the part where im at and i have the problem
hope some one can help me out with this problem

Only 1 idea: you should use the original HTC COM3 theme. I have never had the problem that you are describing...

hellow i have windows mobile 6.1 wwe rom 1.5.6.4010
the first issue is about the bluetooth . when i receive a file the device tells me that the file transfer succeed and ask me if i want to keep it..i say yes but where the hell it keeps the files??
i dont have the option to choose where i want the file be kept..and i cant find it anywhere... so where i can find the received files? can i change someway the destanation folder? i looked in all settings of bluetooth and find nothing...
the secnod issue -Talk Summary -how can i Set the device that at the end of the conversation to show me how long I talked?
third- How do I prevent the device light up all the time during the conversation?
fourth- my operator (pelephone) does not shown in the connection setup and the result is very annoying connection error message every 5 seconds..message that says my operator not not exist and i need to turn to my operator provider
it shows me only CELLCOM and Orange but no pelephone...
final-how can i clean the main screen wallpaper from all the Unnecessary Messages like -New Voicemail and the Calendar? i looked all over the phone to fine the option with no luck...
please help me out guys ..

1. it is store at my device/my documents
2.if u r using s2u2, it will show at the end of the conversation. But for only 1-2secs. If you want to check, you can go to Call History to see.
3.Rightfully, the device light sensor(beside the speaker) will automatically put the screen on off when u place ur ear against the phone. If not, u call press briefly once on the power button at the top to off ur screen.
4.Not sure. Mayb u can try manual network selection instead of auto (Phone settings > Network)
5.Not sure what you meant. But you can dismiss those notifications from the home page.
