I just flashed the modaco Froyo over the stock at&t N1 and i can see Hebrew characters .
Anyone knows if this is finally built into Android or is this something added by Paul?
official update rom includes hebrew fonts, aswell as arabic.
Sweet! Finally!!!
But the arabic fonts are Disconnected
Both work in emulation
Don't know how much bearing this has on a real device, but the stock FroYo emulation does support both Hebrew and Arabic website display.
No testing yet with alternative input, but the output looks as though it is finally in place.

Arabic Support in Android 3.0 Honeycomb
It looks like official native support for Arabic finally comes to Android
See the snapshots at http://bit.ly/honeycomb-arabic
best luck pro ...
looking for this also...
Do I have to root?
I think you just need to add Arabic font after rooting your phone. I did not try this yet and I am new to android.
Or maybe using one of Arabic supported ROMs like Cynagon for example.
I hope anyone can help.. I am still looking for a solution for my nexus s.
I flashed latest build of cyanogen for nexus one yesterday and seems arabic is finally solved. letters are connected letters, right to left alignment in msgs.
It's CM7 build#35
It's now late November 2011. Any news of newer Arabic language stuff for droid phones?
I want to know about Arabic in droid too, bc my native lg for Uyghur. it's same to Arabic for use.
Noon keyboard

Salam Aluikum everyone. Currently my sister's husband owns a htc sensation, and has been griping about reading Arabic on it. Now I COULD go and install cyanogen 7 on his sensation, as that has good Arabic support... but I personally don't want to do it as 1- I'm lazy, and 2- if something changes and he doesn't like it, guess who he's going to ***** at?
so are there any ways of displaying Arabic on his android correctly in everything? like texts, emails, and etc. The only thing I could think of was making him install Firefox as his browser, so he could read Arabic websites
COS DS Android 2.3.4 rom now supports all ASOP+CM languages and locals splited into 4 builds:
for arabic choose:
Build Langpack1:en_US ar_EG ar_IL ur_PK fa_IR bg_BG ca_ES cs_CZ da_DK de_AT de_CH de_DE de_LI el_GR en_AU
it has full support for arabic language...
Hi,
I'm wondering if you can navigate to www.google.com.sa and take snapshot?
I want to know I9000 contains Arabic font or not.
BR
If Android does, this phone will
Android doesn't support Arabic but Samsung Spica does!
So I hope I9000 support Arabic before I order it
Tkanks for reply.
BR
I took these screenshots with the stock browser on the N1 with unofficial FroYo.
Hope these help determine whether Froyo supports Arabic.
Anyway...hopefully the Samsung T959 gets announced soon and it has a front facing camera. Please.

Thanks for your screenshots, Froyo has Arabic fonts but lack of support for Arabic (Arabic is RTL language) in your screenshots words became LTR!
Maybe RTL languages will get official support in Android 3.0.
But some Android Phones like HTC Magic, Tattoo, Samsung Spica, Acer liquid, Motorola Milestone officially support Arabic, so I want to be sure that i9000 support Arabic before order it.
Thanks again for your help
Hi to all the the lucky one's which already have this phone
Does GB finally bring GUI in Hebrew/Arabic (I know it has locale, but in the sdk it does nothing)
Does it has keyboard in Hebrew/Arabic?
Does it has proper BIDI support?
screenshots would be great
Thanks in advance
It does have Hebrew and Arabic fonts (can open corresponding sites fine).
NO system interface in either.
Thank you
what about keyboard?

You have to find it on the market like Chinese one.

No Hebrew keyboard as well.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
it does now have hebrew on 2.3.5 and 2.3.7 but not arabic!!
Gingerbread has Arabic font but no RTL support. Letters aren't connected, that's why people go to custom roms like cyanogen and miui.
CM7 Nightlies have both font and keyboard for RTL
The solution - if you insist on using stock Nexus S ROM - is to root, deodex, then use the Arabic Univeral Patcher by madmack and brightidea here:
http://blog.devasque.com/?page_id=11
You will get Arabic interface, RTL auto-alignment, and correctly connected characters (the full package except Arabic keyboard).
For the Arabic Gingerbread keyboard (with suggestions), just rip the LatinImeGoogle.apk from the latest Cyanogen nightly and overwrite the one in \system\apps
You might find that you actually prefer SlideIt, SmartKeyboard, GoKeyboard, or some other Arabic-supporting market keyboard.
Another solution is to use the Cyanogen 7.1 RC1 or Nightly ROM as it already supports all of these features (maybe not the Arabic interface, not sure).
2.3.4 brought Hebrew keyboard and interface but..
2.3.6 took the Hebrew keyboard out.
Yet, no dictionary and no RTL support.
I expect full Hebrew support in ICS because Honeycomb does support this
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin.free
Gingerbread keyboard does solve the problem. but not solves problem of rtl ... expecting of ICS ...

I'm using cm7_tom_v2 2.3.2. there's arabic (egypt) in locale settings while the system could not be configured into arabic. but arabic can be typed and shown well on my device with ibrahim keyboard downloaded for the market. before flashing my device to 2.3.2 i was using sense 2.19, i required for help from the official site and they suggested downloading "customlocale.apk" in market. the arabic could be typed but could not be shown with the same settings which i use now. considering other performances of rom i prefer cm7 and i recommend it to you.
this is work for arabic keyboard ??? my device htc hero
Try nightly builds from CyanogenMod 7, I see it has arabic keyboard support.
I'm new to this, so I apologize if this has been discussed before.
I am trying to get Hebrew support on my phone. Any existing hebrew and hebrew that I type comes out backwards. I'd like to avoid rooting/modding, or whatever since I'm scared of destroying the phone, unless of course there is no other way to do it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
I have the same RTL problem. I live in Israel and I need Hebrew support. Stock 2.2 versions have Hebrew support so SMS messages are displayed correctly. New 2.3 stock ROMs lack this support. They have the fonts, but Hebrew is displayed left-to-right. Is there any way to add Hebrew support to 2.3 ROM? If not, which custom ROMs have good Hebrew support?
Hi,
I think i have a solution.
Download and explores apk Swiftkey X
Keyboard isn't the problem. The problem is how the text is displayed.
RtL support: FIXED
After scouring the internet with no viable solution, I decided to join the world of rooting and modding/Romming (?). I read as much as I could and was as careful as possible. The solution? I rooted my phone and installed ClockWorkMod and CyanogenMod7. It has Hebrew built in and can switch back and forth easily. Built in keyboard also has the option to change languages by sliding the spacebar. I will post step by step soon. It's been over a week and so far everything is working fine. I would suggest backing up your current ROM (after you install CWM but before CM7) just in case.
