Enabling the HSDPA symbol - HD2 General

How do you enabled the H symbol for HSDPA?

Some custom ROMS have it or some customer task bars do as well.

I have read on the Tmobile forum that it can enabled with a simple registry edit, is this true?

I wouldn't be surprised if it is possible to enable it in the registry for the stock icons, but I've never seen one (for this phone or TP2). It always just started appearing anytime I put on custom taskbar icons like speoples mentioned, and that was good enough for me

There is a factory 3g+ icon which I saw for a period of time on my Wife's bone stock HD2.

Ooh, I've been looking into this, since I really wanted the network icon (G/E/3G/H) and didn't really want to install a custom taskbar. Major kudos to all who create them, since I know it's a lot of work, but I 'like' the stock WM6.5 taskbar icons. Most of the custom taskbars are brightly coloured and tacky, or in a style that doesn't match the rest of my interface - I want something that looks, hm, polished and like it's supposed to be there.
The lack of network icon can reportedly be fixed by installing one of the percentage battery indicators - but which one, I'm unsure, since I get super-paranoid about battery drain if I see the percentage, and simply prefer not to do so - thus I never installed it.
Now, I'm unsure whether T-Mo actually took those icons OUT of the ROM's DLLs, or if they just have some kind of overlay/registry entries that prevent them from being shown. This could be checked by extracting the applicable DLL from the stock ROM - I believe it is shellres.192.dll that handles those icons - and checking said DLL to see if the icons are still there
.
Also of note, EU HD2s DO have the network icon visible - so it would theoretically be an easy fix if we could get hold of the EU stock DLLs and associated registry entries. The 'fix' of installing the percentage battery increase, which undoubtedly does include said DLLs, clearly shows this is possible. Of course, for those not wanting the battery percentage, it should be sort of easy-ish to get hold of the cab, disassemble, compare the DLLs to the T-Mo stock, and swap out the battery-associated files, leaving the network icons intact and the battery unchanged.
But since I'm A. Not a dev, just a tech enthusiast who likes to tinker, and B. Lazy as hell, I didn't do any of this.
Instead, I decided I'd muck around with some of the Android taskbars (Which, being created from original Android graphics, look more polished than most custom bars) and see if I could keep my existing custom top and bottom bar skins, as well as my custom start icon. Thankfully, I could, so I'm now happily using Dark Ninja's Android iconset on stock 6.5, including network icons, and I don't have the silly Android start button. Glee!
But I'd be keen to see how anyone got on trying any of the above, since all the searching only revealed a few threads with no result beyond "Install a custom bar" and "Try the percentage battery". Apparently the T-Mo TP2 has the same problem, strange thing to want to remove. Maybe they don't want people knowing offhand where HSPA is available.

Display Time and Battery?

Sorry if has already been posted - I did search and found nothing. I'm going mad trying to get both the Time and battery to display on the task bar. I can only ever seem to get one or the other and really need both. I've seen theme pictures which have them, but only the iphone style. I've tried HD tweak and even with both set I only seem to get one. I'm not worried about the date, but that would be nice aswell.
If anyone can help it would be great.
I also second this. I've done a search and read various threads about having both, but they don't offer a method of showing both the normal/standard icons on the top.
Wisbar sounds like overkill. wkTask, ditto, don't need another app just for this.
Lordsmiff's color bar prob. works (didn't try), but want an actual icon, not a colored bar along the top.
There are some really awesome icons (the battery with %) for these 2 now, so I'd like both.
My iPhone displayed time and battery pretty much in most situations... not sure why it's so hard on WM phones.
Thanks
Try with SKTools man
Thanks for the info on SKTools, but I beleive this only does date and time, as that is whats listed in its tweaks section. Can you confirm it will display the battery and time?
Thanks
I couldn't find anything else either, but I'm happy with the colorbar; to be honest, I think it works better than an icon solution, as just a glance up top tells me what I need to know, where I would have to squint at an icon.
So, give it a shot...you can always uninstall it
I use Quickmenu which also displays the battery on the left while the time (and date using hdtweak) is displayed on the right. Use the wiki for the dl-link.
Nope, but u can combine it with "dciBattery", it's very light and elegance. I like it.
SKtools and "dciBattery" are perfect solution for your pane, i think.
Sorry for my english

[Q] Notifications icons on Ogo2's Beta2/3 Gingerbread with Sense Rom

Ok guys, .... It's my turn to ask newbie question..
I'm using Ogo2's fresh Betas rom and besides some minor issues, everything is working fine, I can use the rom every day without problems.
I just noticed something and although it is not really relevant, I just would like to know whether I am alone or not, and whether it could be fixed "easily". If not, then not a problem at all!
The fact:
The notifications icons are too large for some applications, and cannot fit within the notification bar. But not for every applications, only a few (such as FourSquare, Wifi Status, ... But no problem for 3G Whatchdog, WhatsApp, ...).
And if I change the icons with the UOT Kitchen, to change the battery icon for example, then the new icon is also too large and doesn't fit the notification bar.
I already used those apps and the UOT Kitchen previously, for other roms, and there was not such "issue", so I am pretty sure it is related to this rom.
Again, it is more curiosity than a problem I couldn't live with, I only want to know if I am the only one to get that, and if something can be done by myself to change it.

Sense 2.1 App Drawer

Hey, for those running or who've tried a Sense 2.1 rom - you know the app drawer, that slides in increments and has the 3 tabs at the bottom for "all, frequent, and downloaded"?
Well can someone please help me figure out how to customize the tabs. When you long-press one of the tabs, it says you can rearrange them, or drag/drop them to choose which ones to use. So I'm able to rearrange the 3 tabs easy enough, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add different tabs??? When you pull one of the 3 tabs up into the upper screen, it says it can't be removed, but I can't figure out how to use anything other than those 3 tabs, and if it has the whole drag/drop system set up - you MUST be able to do more than just rearrange those 3...
Anyone?

Hmm, guess either it's a dumb question or nobody knows...seems like a glitch to me, as obviously you're supposed to be able to customize them but can't do so - shame, I'd love to have a couple customized tabs, i.e. "games" and "tools"
Oh well
Just checked. It definitely seems like there's more functionality planned behind it, but this specific functionality isn't implemented in Apps tray.
Try doing the same in People tabs, and you'll see what it is.

Thanks for replying - it's nice to know it's not just me
Yeah, in the contacts/people tabs, it's the same thing - it allows you to rearrange the 3 tabs, but nothing else, even though it seems like it's designed to be more customizable than just rearranging what's already there...seems weird that HTC would half-ass something like that and release something that wasn't fully functional.
You didn't try dropping off the tabs
In People, you can remove and restore the tabs, and once removed - they show up on the black screen above and are available for adding.
In Apps tray this isn't possible. I guess they just didn't think deeper
Hmm, good call - I missed it the first time because (at least on my phone) you can only remove one of the 3 tabs (the group one) and I didn't try them all initially...still, yeah lol - seems like it should be a little deeper.

HTC Confirmed - Cannot change/remove lock screen icons

cliff notes: you cant change the lock screen icons or remove them at all.
so it seems the biggest gripe i have with this phone, albeit, not a huge gripe.....
you cannot pick and choose which icons show up on your lock screen tray. it reflects what you have in your unlocked home screen tray.
so if you dont want any icons in your lock screen, then you have to remove them from your homescreen tray.
i have seen many videos of other HTC phones that you can personalize the lock screen, however, on the 816 you do not even have that subfolder for lock screen personalization.
i cannot even remember the last time that i wasnt able to customize the lock screen with whatever icons i wanted to show up or none at all (which is my preference). I guess LG is a little more flexible about this one than HTC.
it has been confirmed per HTC online chat.
do keep in mind, i have no plans on rooting or running a customer rom, nor do i want to hear anyone saying i should, because you're wasting your time.
this isnt something i should have to hack my phone for or to install a launcher or separate lock screen app to do this.
this phone is limited in storage and i shouldnt have to load it up with this crap.
Thread cleaned. People argue over the stupidest stuff on the internet. Everybody take a breather and let it go.
Customization on stock HTC ROMs has gone backwards for years. I've been an HTC user for almost four years and remember when lockscreen shortcuts could be changed, but they've been unchangable separately from the tray since Sense 4. So, it's not just this phone. And I agree it is a step backwards although I think removing skins was a step backwards in customizing HTC phones too. But, I guess that's their choice.
I tried to find a way to remove them, but the only option would be to remove them from the launcher and then use a different launcher which you don't want to do.
If you had wanted to add an app without running a custom launcher or lockscreen, you could enable widgets on the lockscreen. On my HTC One, you go to Settings, Security, Enable lock screen widgets (I'm sure yours is similar). You could then add a widget to whatever app you want (assuming one is available).
Thanks for cleaning up the thread, it certainly needed it. Also thanks for actually giving an adult type response. These responses is what you should look for in a forum not the ones that were deleted from this thread.
the HTC phones I had were before sense 4, I've been on an lg phone kick lately and they've been great. But I came across the 816 phablet and it seems exactly like what I wanted. This issue is a very small one and won't cause me much frustration other than the fact that I don't want them there. But I do use them because they are there, but my preference is that they were not.
OK, this isn't really for OP because he doesn't want to root but for anyone else that wants to use different apps on the lock screen...
Install the Xtended Settings module for Xposed. That will allow you to accomplish what OP wanted. Xtended Settings along with Sense6 Toolbox will allow you to change EVERY DAMNED THING on your Desire 816. And by everything I honestly mean it. I don't think I've found a color or setting that couldn't be changed.
Make sure you have a backup before you play around with things though because there is a lot and if you just play with it and test different things you might forget how to set it back.

Nice find. I've heard of Sense 6 Toolbox but not Xtended settings. It's unfortunate that rooting is the only way to change things.
will it let me get rid of the battery saver mode notification icon?

[SystemUI] Status Bar/Notification Drawer issues after modifications

Greetings people,
As TW Lollipop has landed, most of the devs have been trying to brew ROMs for the people, and unfortunately there is no control as what MODS should be included, i have found it terribly difficult to choose a ROM as it didnt feel normal to use mods that made no sense (or at least have a minority audience).
Particularly, what annoys me a lot, is dealing with the mods that change the visual space available, now there is no need to blame devs here at all, but rather Sammy should be here to blame for just trying to make a normal UI into a complex useless UI in to their own, and they have effed it up with the new Notifications Drawer.
While i noticed a lot of devs have found options/parameters to change the view of the notification drawer, a lot of ROMs include a very annoying feature called Quicklaunch, however im pretty sure a lot of people like it. While Quicklaunch in my personal opinion sucks, it looks way better compared to S-Finder and Quick Launch buttons. I personally lack any kind programming/scripting skills, but luckily, thanks to a nice dev called @alfaroolg with a similar taste, he brewed it for me straight away.
This is what i planned on seeing:
Remove S-Finder and Quick Connect
Remove 3minit Quicklaunch
Remove the Brightness Bar
Currently, im on @g00h s Note 4 Port, which makes me believe that the Brightness Bar is not removable anymore as i could not find the setting on either the Display settings or Notification Panel editor, HOWEVER, the brightness bar disappears if under 5% battery so you cant push the brightness up, and to my surprise, found out sammy screwed up adopting to the Lollipop rules.
This is how it looks without S-Finder/QuickConnect and Quicklaunch: First Pic
This is what happens with the same configuration, under 5% battery after the Brightness Bar disappears: Second Pic
And to my surprise, if there are any Notifications going on, things return well: Third Pic
Is this a general issue Sammy mustve skipped? quite an eye catcher. Also, the area where the brightness bar disappears, usually Notifications get the place, and the first Notification is not Swipeable, i end up clicking the notification rather then removing it, and it can result in very unpleasant moments.
