Will wiping dalvik cache make hero more snappy? - Hero, G2 Touch General

I can't wipe dalvik cache in my recovery mode for some reason. I feel that my hero (using cronos rom) isn't really so snappy. I have autokiller and setcpu enabled.

Autokillers (despite false claims) will not speed up your phone. Neither will SetCPU. If you wipe the dalvik cache it will just re-build it the next boot (takes about 15-20 minutes sometimes) and probably won't change anything. No idea why you wouldn't be able to though - what error are you getting?
IMHO - change rom. But none are really "snappy"

Setcpu doesn't speed up your phone? erm.. tell that to my 750MHz overclock
getting 3.34mflops on linpack.
Kimera8 on cupcake 1.5 is incredibly fast. Give it a try.

Yea that only works for an overclocked kernel - which he isn't running.
& FYI -

i been getting a random restart issue after rooting and eris lightning 3.02. I searched to no avail. How can i fix this issue? i would just go take my phone off standby and it will just restart. It might have started after i rooted my phone has nothing to do with lightning because it happened once before i installed lightning.

do you have it overclocked? if so what are you setting? this is normally have to do with either overclocking or jit
Did you wipe and reset your cache?

Yes i did both and i didn't overclock and i don't know what jit is. I changed to another custom rom and am having the same problem
not sure if it matters, but what rom did you switch to, that it is still doing it?
also, was this a problem before root?
just another thought.. you said you didn't mess with overclocking, but with most custom roms they are over clocked already, maybe the default setting for the kernel the too high or low for your phone.. try installing setcpu, if you dont have it, then do auto detect, and then try adjustint the low end to 245mhz and the high end to either 528, which is stock, or 710 which should be very stable.
then set to on demand. here is a link for setcpu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419

4G Does not Work on Evo in Warm twopointtwo

Hello All,
I have installed Myn's Warm Twopointtwo on my EVO.
My 4G will will turn on, and it will pop up the 4G icon on the top of the screen.
However,
When I try to go to a website it will STALL halfway through the loading.
What I have tried
"As this ROM now uses the latest official HTC Kernel (#15) you MUST update your Radio/Wimax. I recommend Calkulin's combo update which is available here or via direct download here. " ( I Installed this and it did nothing )
"Installation Instructions:
1. Download Rom and Radio/Wimax updates and place in the root of SDCard.
2. Reboot into Recovery.
3. Perform Nandroid backup
4. Minimally wipe dalvik and cache. For optimal experience, perform full wipe (data/dalvik/cache).
5. Flash the rom first.
6. Then the radio/wimax update. While the radios are flashing you'll see a little green arrow phone icon for a bit afterwords, Wait on this. You will then automatically be taken back to recovery.
7. Once back in recovery, reboot.
8. Enjoy"
( I Installed this and it did nothing ) For #6 No it did not do this when I installed it.
"RLS5 Browser slowness fix" ( I installed this, it aborted during install )
My 4G Hangs and does not actually work.
Yes 4G for me is a deal breaker.
Everything else on the ROM is Great and Works. I would have posted this on the Warm Twopointtwo thread but this is my first post and I am not allowed to.
Thanks for your input.
Try a different kernel and see if that resolves the issue.
Is there one that you would recommend out of the Warm Twopointtwo list?
Alternative Recommended Kernels:
* ms79723's SBC for Netarchy's CFS More Aggressive 4.1.9.1 Kernel (v7)
* Ziggy471 Warm TwoPointTwo RLS4 Kernel
* netarchy-toastmod-4.2.1-cfs-bfq-havs-more-smartass-universal-signed
* Kings #11 CFS Kernel
* Kings #9 BFS Kernel

I personally use Netarchy.
I use:
netarchy 4.3.2-toastmod-cfs-nosbc-nohavs-suv-universal
Your problem is not the ROM or the kernel. It's an outdated AdFree hosts file. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922839&highlight=slow+internet+myn. Basically you need to open the adfree app and update the hosts file or disable it altogether.

The issue they're talking about is slow internet.
He's talking about not being able to stay connected/connect.
I suppose he should try this first and, if it doesn't work, try a different kernel.
I changed the kernal to the
* netarchy-toastmod-4.2.1-cfs-bfq-havs-more-smartass-universal-signed
I tried the internet in 4G and it still hangs.
I have another EVO that is still stock and it loads lightning fast.
The Warm Twopointtwo Rom just sits there and hangs.
It works on mine, maybe try reflashing it.

As suggested above.
Works for me on HW0003 and HTC Kernel
Have you checked to ensure you still have your WiMAX keys?
I guess It is a slow hanging 4G connection is the actual problem.
The 4G is hanging so much I was not sure it was even connected.
I tried the AdFree app in the Market.
The app did not help the hanging or slow internet issue.
Blane, Thank You - Thank You
I downloaded the WiMax Key Checker from the Market and my 4G is LIGHTNING FAST again.

Agreed. Wimax keychecker just checks to see if your RSA keys are still there, nothing more. Strange, but at least your 4g is working agian.
Yea, I completely jumped the gun.
It worked like it should for about 5 min.
Since then it is working intermittently but no where near as consistently as the stock 3.7 Rom 4G works.
it aint the rom itself .... 4G works fine with it .... keep searching...keep reading..
disable adfree - it causes slower performance on web browsing in other roms, so it's not a stretch.
Update your radio/PRI/PRL etc. There's a flashable upgrade zip in the development section, just wipe cache and dalvik and flash away and you're updated.
flash into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Issues have been known to be resolved by doing that.
try a new kernel - outdated kernels can cause all kinds of problems. Try netarchy's newest, a stock #15 kernel or MS79723's SBC #15 v7. They're all compatible with Myn's latest and greatest.
wipe data/cache/dalvik and reflash the rom. could've been a bad install.
re-download the rom and do the last thing. could've been a bad download.
Last ditch, download a different web browser (like dolphin hd) and see if the problem is all web browsing or restricted to just the stock internet app.
Here's the thing. WiMax works on Myn, thousands of people use it with no problems (me included, once upon a time) so it's definitely not the rom itself. The stock kernel should work with it as well. However, the kernel options I've listed above are good alternatives. If you can connect to 4g, then you have 4g so your keys are a-okay. Make sure you back them up though.
I hope this helps.

CM9/CM10 UNOFFICIAL Ice Cream Sandwich/ Jelly Bean for Legend

Check progress in DEV section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562595
( I have posted less than 10 posts, so I can't write in the dev section. )
Stupid question : is it using Holo?
And, if it is based on CM9, it is rooted, isn't it?
If WiFi works, I'm SURELY going to try this!
I installed it yesterday. Wifi works, it uses Holo, hat root and performs better than I expected.
Thx.
I' ve put it on. It's really laggy, but it works!
It's a good start, but if this is the best performance the legend can give, I think I won't ever change definitevly to ICS. Maybe it can be optimizated for the Legend hardware to become smoother.
Thanks for testing, but it has not got hardware acceleration yet. For testing purpose, you could overclock it up to 787 MHZ safely, and the overall performance get better notably.

I'll try keeping it on for more time. By my first impression, it doesn't look so buggy, I think it is also quite stable. I'll tell you if I find anything.
Anyway, this is a great ROM, thanks for your work!
EDIT : Stupid question : to install GApps I have to flash the zip, right?
EDIT 2x : Yea, it was a very stupid question. Flashed from clockwork recovery. Works perfectly.
Its getting better and better. but still GPS not working. Hope you get it fixed soon.
Realy great job!!!!!
really good job. Just need GPS and Camera.

I have a problem with the latest 3.0 version.
After i flash gapps i keep getting boot loops.
If i dont flash it and just flash the rom it boots fine.
Dont know what the problem is. Can someone help me?
I have the exact same problem as DareFace, but I think zeubea is aware of the problem.
zeubea-cm-9.0.0-ALPHA3.0.1 and Google Apps
I tried install this ROM multiple times today, everything works until i install gapps (full or tiny). After that phone enters infinite boot-loop (HTC logo on white background).
Radio 7.13.35.05
Bootloader HBOOT-1.01 (S-ON)
ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0
Edited @ 08:31PM GMT+2
After installing gapps over gapps works as a charm. That's weird...
I had the same bootloop problem until I installed another kernel that Zeubea provided. It's till get some fc's, mainly for clock and email, but the email still works, clock is inaccessible atm.
It's even better than cm 7.2RC1, running oc'ed at 787mhz ! It's so smooth and beautiful. Let's hope that the gps and camera will get fixed soon. If I had capabilities to donate, I so would do it.
Thanks Zeubea! The Legend community loves you, keep up the wonderful work of making our ICS dreams come true when htc can't and won't deliver.
The reason for bootlooping is the clock issue.
The default clock in 3.0.0 is 806MHz - something every Legend doesn't handle, so it bootloops.
The 3.0.1 version has this "problem" fixed.
I faced another issue releted to sounds. I change both ring and notification sounds and after some time i realise that they are reverted to default!
I have this weird thing where the danish keyboard force-closes.
It's everytime i type the word "lige". It doesn't do it with the english keyboard
I've tried to turn off the spelling correction, since it's in english, and there isn't a danish one, but it doesn't help.
Other than that it's great
bootlooping after flashing cm9 gapps, possible fix
boots up normally after flashing the zip in CWM, but after flashing gapps it bootloops, and after awhile of countless flashing i discovered it bootloops even before flashing gapps, so i tried different step to flash it and finally it boots up normally, here's what i did :
1) full wipe, dalvik cache and cache partition, factory reset
2) flash the main cm9 zip
3) full wipe, dalvik cache and cache partition, factory reset (again)
4) flash gapps (not tiny version)
5) reboot, if it boots up normally thats great, if not its ok, continue to step 6
6) boot into CWM
7) dont wipe or anything*
8) flash the main cm9 zip
9) instead of rebooting device, continue by just flashing gapps (not tiny version)
this were the steps i did to fix the bootloops after flashing gapps, apparently the gapps tiny version is not compatible with cm9 on the htc legend thats why i stick to the normal gapps file, i hope this helps anyone of u experiencing the bootloops after flashing gapps
I have some kind of problem with wifi connection. If "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to "Only when plugged in". After I wake up phone wifi is turned on it cannot find any networks.

Where did my fourth vSel go?

Recently, I've noticed that the Overclock settings in the bootmenu on my Defy+ only offer three clock speeds and three Vsel settings. It always used to have four. CPUSpy shows four clock settings: 300Mhz, 600Mhz, 800Mhz and 1000Mhz whereas the bootmenu only shows 300MHz, 600MHz and 1000MHz. Is anyone able to suggest how I might get the missing one back in the bootmenu?
I'm running bootmenu 1.1.8, as installed by Defy2ndint 2.3 (thus also recovery version 5.0.3.1).
SetVsel is no help because it causes the phone to reboot. I've had a look at this thread but the "fix" seems to involve changing quite a lot of stuff, not all of which seems to be particularly relevant to the CPU speed & voltage settings. In particular, it installs multiboot which I've always preferred to steer clear of, having no need for it (I'm a boring person who is quite happy with a largely stock ROM). Mind you, the touch bootmenu does look nice, though...
I also had a look at this single posting from the extensive CM7.1.0 thread. I've tried copying the overclock.conf and overclock.sh files from that posting on to my phone, but I still only get 3 CPU clock speeds showing in the bootmenu.
Anyone got any better ideas?
This title is so funny
Which kernel are you using?
Froyo has got 3 settings gingerbread 4
I'm on Gingerbread.
I've got to the bottom of it: version 1.1.8 of bootmenu only supports three CPU speeds. I think that's because it's part of a Cyanogenmod release which is based on the Froyo kernel and therefore only supports three CPU speeds. I previously had version 1.1.0 which comes from somewhere else - I'm not sure where. I installed it, along with CWM recovery 5.0.3.4, from a zip file via recovery, but I can't now remember where the zip file came from. Fortunately I still had a copy of the zip file to hand, and re-installing it gave me back my 4 CPU speeds.
I'm still quite tempted to try that fix for SetVsel on Defy+, though...

Now this is odd...
I installed the SetVsel fix, which included a lot of other stuff that I wasn't sure I wanted like touch bootmenu and multiboot. Anyway, it installed OK and SetVsel did work, but I decided I didn't like the rest of the baggage, and having got to the bottom of the missing fourth CPU speed in the bootmenu mystery, I didn't really need SetVsel. So I did a full CWM restore - of everything: system, data, recovery, bootmenu, the lot. And there I was, back where I expected to be...except that SetVsel still works! How did that happen?

[Q] CPU speed issue (?)

Ive recently flashed the latest 4.3 ROM from Quarx. (previously I was using an old version of the 4.1 ROM from Quarx too).
First it was _really_ slow, after a while I figured out, that the CPU was reporting 0MHz maximum and 300 MHz minimum. The problem was, that the CPU speeds were in the bootmenu 300,600,1000,1000. To fix it, ive changed it to 300, 600, 800, 1000.
Now the phone is super fast, but I think there is some problem with the CPU speeds. If the screen is off, it runs at 300, but if I turn the screen on it will always run at 1000 - even if the CPU load is like 10%. Ive tried boosted and smartass governors, stock and lower Vsel values, no help.
Is this normal? If not how can I fix it?
thanks
Strange. It shouldn't be stuck to 1000 when screen is on, in fact it should increase to 1000 when there is some interaction. Try starting fresh.

If hardware buttons didn't work, it is usually indicative of a full system partition/wrong gapps/too big zip.

Will these steps result in a complete reinstallation? Ive backed up all data from the phone, so I can wipe everything.
Copy the zip file to your SD card.
Reboot and enter recovery.
Wipe cache + wipe data + wipe dalvik cache.
Install the zip file from the SD card.
Wipe cache + dalvik cache again
Or do I need to do something else for Quarx's latest ROM? like install a different SBF or kernel? Ive rooted (and flashed an .sbf) this phone like 2 years ago.. Before 4.3 I was using a 4.1 build for a long time.
You need to flash a new 4.1 build which has TWRP and then flash 4.3, because the old CWM binary does not support 4.3. I suggest you do a full wipe with defy full wiper or AROMA wiper.
