Hello. I have installed the wonderful Co0kie's Home Tab & CHT Editor. I have set the WM phone lock to require a PIN after not using the phone for 15 mins. I also want a lock (without a PIN) when I switch the phone on after it has been off, so I set the CHT lock on to do this. Now if I switch off and on, the CHT slider appears without a PIN - exactly as required, but if I switch off and leave the phone for longer that 15 mins, I get the WM slider and PIN lock (as required) but then I get the CHT slider as well. Does anybody know a way of (a) stopping the CHT lock appearing if the WM PIN lock is active, or (b) removing the WM lock slider whilst keeping the PIN requirement. IE, any way of removing two sliders. Thanks in advance.
Next time
This has been seen before in these forums take a look next time, but just for ease go to your home screen and hit menu, cookies home tab editor, lockscreen settings and flip the slider to turn off the lock screen you dont wish to come on (enable CHT lockscreen or Enable default lockscreen)
Thanks for your reply Tobiascrystal. The default lockscreen is OFF. The CHT lockscreen is ON and the CHT "Lock on standby" is ON to ensure that the CHT slider appears after turning the screen off and on within 15 minutes. The standard WM "phone lock" (in settings) is ON (and set to 15 mins) to ensure that a PIN needs to be entered if you turn the screen off and on after 15 mins. Are you saying that there is a better way of setting this up? What I require is: If you turn the screen off and on again within 15 mins (maybe by accidently pressing a button), just a slider lock appears. If you turn the screen off and on again after 15 mins, a slider lock and a PIN is required. The problem is that in the latter case, The WM slider and PIN appears, but when a PIN is entered the CHT slider also appears. I hope that's clear!

Thanks Crillz. I have now updated Co0kie's Home Tab & CHT Editor to the latest version and like you, all the nasty hangs and crashes have stopped. However, I cannot use the CHT lock now as it does not support PIN security! Oh well, let's hope there is another upgrade soon.

If I am using any program, say Calendar, and I put the Mogul to sleep with the power switch, then wake it up a few minutes later with the power switch, the phone always reverts back to the Today screen. I want to put it to sleep with my Calendar showing, and wake it up right where I left off (NOT taking me back to the Today screen.
Is this a bug, or is there a way I can set the device to always wake up at the same place it went to sleep?
Thanks.
I dont personally have Titan but there are 3 options:
1. Check Settings->Today->Items. Check if the Today timeout is turned on.
2. You have battery status app installed? Check the options for the Today screen wake up.
3. Check Settings->System tab->Power. Something about Today screen after wake up.
Good luck.

It's not a bug, simply enable the "Today Timeout" on your phone like vlodeck suggested.
Another option is to enable the "calendar" item to appear on the Today screen. If you're unhappy with lack of detailed information the "calendar" item provides when enabled, you may want to check out TodayAgenda. It's a free application that allows more customization, etc.... you can find it at http://www.tiews.info/index.php?show=&lang=en
On my HTC Touch, if you have a security password set it will always revert to the Today screen. Try disabling your password.

Thanks for your help. I have run all of these suggestions and found the answer.
1. Changing the Today timeout setting had absolutely no effect. Regardless of whether it was set on or off the screen went back to Today every time I woke it up.
2. I have no battery app installed. There is no Today setting under Power.
3. Calendar is enabled on my Today screen. This had no effect on reverting to Today when it wakes up.
4. The answer - Security Password. If a Password is enabled it reverts to Today every time it wakes up, but - weirdly enough - only if the password timeout has not expired. In other words, if you turn it on and don't need to put in your password yet it goes back to Today. If you do need to put in your password it goes back to where it was and not to Today. If no Password is set at all the screen wakes up where it left off.
This I do consider a Bug and I will be looking for a new Security Password program. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Glad you were able to figure it out. If you find that having your device password protected all together is just a hassle, you may want to try setting the phone up without the default settings. Basically, when you turned your phone on for the first time there were three applications that automatically ran during the setup process. Bypassing these three programs during the initial setup of your phone will eliminate the password protection altogether. It will also allow your phone to boot-up much quicker when soft-resetting, etc.... and possibly free more memory.
In order to bypass these installations you would have to hard reset your device. After hard resetting a small dialog box pops up stating something along the line of "your device will continue the setup in 3 seconds". If you allow the device to continue it will then install these three programs i've mentioned. To bypass their installation, simply do a soft reset before the 3 second dialog box disappears. Then go into windows/startup folder and delete all three entries.
Thanks, I'll work on it this weekend. Will I lose any other functionality than password protection? What do those three programs do?
Meantime, I do need a Security Password - I have too many sensitive items on my PDA for it to fall into the wrong hands. Obviously the WM6 Security Password has been a problem for me. Anyone used a third party security code that worked well?
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a way to get the Device Lock feature (appears as a padlock on the Today screen) to active automatically after a preset length of time.
I have WM5 on my ex-SPV/M700 and the feature is very handy for preventing false button presses whilst device in pocket etc but annoyingly can only be invoked manually.
Thanks in adavnce for any help/info,
LL

try S2u2.
Do a search - there are a few similar discussions!
i like the pocket shield on my touch hd -> http://pocketshield.netserver01.com/
I´ve tried S2U2 on my Wizard with some strange problems like Battery drain etc. Pocketshield works so far, but i loved the simplyness of DeviceLock.
Isn´t there any way to lock the device on wake up? Pocketshield shouldn´t be the last fix for this problem....
PocketShield is the best for the HD.

What version?
I´ve tryed aout Phoneshield, but i wasn´t that surprised of it. Now i´ve tryed This:
Goto registry:
HKEY_CurrentUser\ControlPanel\Backlight\[AutoDeviceLockEnable set to 1]
HKEY_CurrentUser\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel\[LockLevel set to 1]
That works for me without installing any Software

I would to know one thing, I see two different key to lock the phone:
AutoDeviceLockEnable
LockLevel
why? isn't enough only one of them? for example backlight lockenable?
pls explain to me what exactly these 2 keys so
quick question :
which registry entry governs the backlight display on the lock screen,
at the moment i've got the phone dimming after 30 seconds, then it locks and the light comes back on. for about 30 seconds. ideal the lock screen would be illuminated for about 10 seconds then blank the screen.
What reg entries do i need to set to sort this out ?
answers appreciated.
many thanks.

by default yes, but you can amend the function of the long key press if you like via the buttons menu in further options.
i've got mine killing off connections data/phone, for example with the power button at the top locking the phone.
works for me.
Hi!
I'm still struggeling to find the right way to lock the phone. The ideal solution would be to:
1) Have the phone unlocked when I switch it on with the Power button (so that I can immediately use it after deliberately turning it on)
2) Have the phone automatically locked when it wakes up due to a phone call or SMS (so that I don't press anything by accident when it is in my pocket).
This seems to be the only really logical way to use device lock. Can this be done?
Regards!
But PocketShield doesn not meet my requirements (see above post). It's just another regular device lock app without the possibility to disable the device lock when the unit is turned on with the power button.
Regards!
I found the Registry-Hack Solution is the better way, just my opinion. But can somebody tell me which reg-value must be edited to avoid locking with end-call button? I don´t want to lock my device in this way, i want to end Data connections with long pressed end-key.
easy
1) scroll along to settings
2) hit 'all settings'
3) select 'personal' tab
4) select 'buttons' icon (top left)
5) get your stylus out
6) on the buttons screen, hit the arrow on the bottom right until you can see the "end key" section. hit that.
7) in the options listed, select "automatically execute selected action" and underneath this select " terminate data connection"
8) hit the OK button (top right) and bob your dads brother, you can now terminate data calls via the long press call cancel key.
nice one.
Thx for that.....
I've tried a few locking programs for my Pure and none of them were quite what I was looking for. So I uninstalled them all and now my phone will only lock using the old 6.1 version locker (hit lock in lower left then hit lock in middle). I cannot figure out how to reenable the Windows 6.5 lock screen with the slider. I tried setting to "Windows Default" in the lock settings but that didn't work. I think something in the Registry has been flipped to off but I don't know what. Any ideas?
(Update) Thought I fixed but didn't Re: Fixed...
...found a file to fix it here on the energyroms site:
NRGZ28 Stock WVGA Lockscreen.cab
Nevermind after rebooting that fix no longer works and now I can't lock at all!
This is common when you install and uninstall 6.5 lock screens, it reverts to the 6.1.
The only fix I have found, other than the dreaded hard reset, is to install another 6.5 lock screen. I use Dusk's if that helps.
Screenshot attached, install Lockscreen first, then install AutoLock, this will enable autolock when you hit your power button.
...................
I use Widget Locker by TeslaCoil. While it's a couple of dollars, it will give you whatever kind of lockscreen you want, and you set it to wake with any hardware button. You can also set it to unlock with a second press of a hardware button, or only a specific button (including the N1's capacitive buttons). I've got mine to wake with any button, and unlock with a custom on-screen slider.
Plus, I can put whatever I want on the lockscreen. If you want it too look like the default screen? You can do that. Widget it up? Perfectly fine. I also like the ability to make your own slider. I've got mine set so the left->right slider is unlock, and the other one launches the camera app, for those quick-or-you'll-miss-it shots.
I used to use MyLock (one of the free betas that was uploaded before the app was abandoned), but WL is more stable. Probably because you can pin it to the notification bar so Android won't kill it from time to time when it needs the memory. Or maybe because it's not beta code. I don't know, I'm not a dev, I only know the basic workings of the OS.
This sounds interesting.
But we still need something to lock the phone without using the power button.
I will purchase your suggested app and put Mixzing widget and the lock screen wigdet on it to search through music without unlocking the phone.
Thanks
If you put Widget Locker in your status bar (or launch it from app tray/homescreen, but for this purpose the status bar works better), you can go down and click it to put it in "Tool Mode" which is basically where you add all the widgets and such, as opposed to "Lock Mode" which can limit interaction (if you set it up that way). Neat trick is that you can go into the settings menu->Screen Timeout and select "Use Timeout in Tool Mode."
So you pull up WL in Tool Mode, it times out in 10 seconds, which puts the phone in lock mode, so you never have to touch the power button if you don't want to.
Neat little app eh?
..........
What if we need security a.k.a a pin code on the lockscreen?
Widgetlocker doesn't have a code system itself, so you slide to unlock then slide again then enter your pin. Pretty annoying.
Any way around this?
