Gallery works but its different than the n1 gallery. It also read my pictures off my sd card. I installed and played with it for about 20 minutes but nothing I can realistically do with it except imagine how awesome it will be soon.
Well figures the day i retire the eris since i got the incredible today, something like this would pop up kinda jealous now since the DI isnt rooted yet. Just my luck i guess but i will deal till this Phone is rooted and again with the waiting game damn...lol!!!

This isnt usable, you arent missing out on anything but bragging rights at this point. I'd rather have a stock incredible over anything else available at the moment.

Tried it, works well some blurring on the screen when typing.
Excellent first release. Needs some polish

Looks great. Most everything seems to function. There are some graphics issues. Pinch to zoom feature in Google Maps is non-functional and the Market link seems to be broken. I tried installing Google Maps through the Market and it just says "installation failed." I also could not seem to get a fix with gps in maps. The copy-and-paste feature in the browser is not there (expected). This also comes with the HTC stock kernel. Great work!!! I can't wait for more progress to be made on this.
What Works
Phone Calls/Audio
Google Voice
Market (non-Verizon)
Wifi (don't know about N)
SMS
Camera (only 3MP)
Video Recorder
3D Gallery
Stock Lock Screen (tabs)
Stock Music Player
Stock Desk Clock
Stock Dialer/Contacts
Live Wallpapers
What Doesn't Work
Bluetooth
GPS
MMS
I tried it, found same issues as others. One thing no one mentioned that I saw, were graphical artifacts when selecting icons or typing. Otherwise this is a great start.
I've heard cyanogen is faster than stock 2.1update1 anyone got any screenies of linpack?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I assume no sense
also noticed the camera has settings for 1mp 2mp and 3mp and that's it. and cannot add a facebook account, although it was listed. I had no problem with the market, worked just fine for me, however there was one google app that didnt load, not sure what it was, gmail worked fine, gps worked fine for me as well. Looked really nice, when the final version is ready It's going to be hard not to use it!! artifacts in animation of buttons and scrollers was visually the only thing i noticed.
When I ran Linpack, I got anywhere from 6.5 to 7.1 MFLOPS.

Nice...i get around 7.5 mflops on stock on a good run. CM 6 should b good this phone would b the shiz with JIT.

I tried out the Cyanogen Mod last night, and have found pretty much exactly what everyone is saying in here. VERY good initial release! Exactly the Vanilla Android I've been waiting for. I does need some ironing out, so I'm going back to my rooted stock for now. Just hope my internal 8GB isn't totally shot! (I did do a backup, so I should be safe.)
Tried it and it installed successfully but it got stuck on the Nexus splash and never booted. I waited 15 min, took the battery out and went to recovery in nandroid. It was CM5 not 6 on my ROM Manager.

My CM5.0.8 Experience so far:
This is my first Android device, so I'm a bit of a n00b and certainly am still learning, so if anything I say isn't quite...right, that's why. I'm only going off what I've learned so far on a stock HTC Incredible with Sense.
Roms can be found at inc.sodpit.com
EDIT for clarification: This is a 2.1 ROM
So anyway, since I'm too impatient to just wait for 2.2, I tried out CyanogenMod 5.0.8, Jager1.62 and Unrevolved, and CM5 is the one I preferred. Not that I don't appreciate the hard work that went into the others, this one just suited my preferences as far as amount of Sense still incorporated. This one has no Sense. AT ALL. Not the dialer, not the message app, not the browser, nothing. All are stripped-down, bare-bones Android apps, and that's what I wanted. And the boot animation is badass
I'm gonna give it a shot as a daily driver for a few days (I hope CM cooks up a 2.2 within a few weeks) and try to update this post as to what I find. I will try to compare everything to a stock Incredible, to try to be helpful to those of you switching from bone stock.
I'll give the bad news first:
1) Already known, are issues with screen artifacts when typing, sometimes when scrolling (depends on what is scrolling) and occasionally during system animations. It is still VERY liveable, and really doesn't interfere with anything, so I'm fine. I'm sure it will be fixed soon.
2) I have noticed that Pinch-to-Zoom doesn't work in the browser. Double-tapping will have to do for now. Remember, this isn't the Sense-ified browser, as far as I know, it's stock.
3) It says "T-CMDA 64" on the lock-screen and on the Notification list. I personally don't know why, but I dont really care either. Everything works as it should.
4) Coming from the Sense dialer, the stock dialer seems to be lacking a bit...maybe I'll try out Dialer Pro. Similar complaint with the Contacts app.
5) I THINK (I very well could be wrong) that the stock keyboard might be from Sense...but i'm only 50% certain, so don't quote me on it. My issue with the "stock" keyboard that came with this ROM was apparent only in the Market. It would disappear every time I got a notification. For example, I found a few programs I wanted, and started downloading them. As those downloads finished and installed, I would get notifications telling me so. Every time I got a notification, the keyboard would disappear, erasing what I was currently typing (while searching for the next program to download). I remedied this by installing the Droid X Keyboard .apk, which is free, and available in the Incredible Android Development forum. My only issue with the DriodX keyboard is the lack of haptic feedback, but hey, in exchange, you get a very snappy multitouch keyboard, perfect for those of us who want to hit some serious WPM on our androids lol
6) Camera currently only seems to support 3MP. Not sure why this is. I have not tested to see if the pictures taken ARE only 3MP, or if the camera app simply doesn't have 8MP in the options list.
7) My BIGGEST issue (and remember, this is a VERY early build) is that currently, CM5 doesn't support internal storage access. So any music, videos, etc. you might be wanting on your phone will need to be on an SD card.
8) Since internal storage access won the slot for "my BIGGEST issue," the #2 slot goes to non-functional bluetooth. It simply won't turn on.
Now for the good:
1) Like I said, the boot animation is wicked.
2) Stock lock screen is way better than the Sense lock screen. It looks better IMO and allows you to turn off the ringer right from the lock screen. Also, the phone can be brought out of sleep using the optical trackpad, and furthermore, can be unlocked with the optical trackpad. Translation: Pull it out of your pocket, hit trackpad twice and you're in.
3) CM5 comes with ADW.Launcher. Graphically, I prefer it to LauncherPro, but the LauncherPro supports homescreen rotation, so I swapped these out. EDIT: You CAN turn on rotation in ADW.Launcher (if you can get to ADWSettings, which I could not until I installed separate copy from the Market)
4) Came with a few essentials: Superuser Permissions, Terminal Emulator, Wireless Tether, and Dev Tools. Not sure what the protocol on this is, but I would have liked to also see ROM Manager and Astro File Manager preinstalled, but no matter, a few seconds in the Market gets you right where you want to be.
Thats about all for now. I just want to give those sitting on the fence an idea of what they'd be getting into if they wanted to try new ROMS. As always, run Nandroid backup and if you want to transfer your personal data (SMS, cookies, etc) to your new ROM installation, make sure you use Titanium Backup or something to back up your stuff to your sdcard. There are several very good guides on how to install new ROMs on these forums. They worked great for me. Make sure you follow their instructions.

SU?
Does CyanogenMod have SU and Busybox cooked in? If you ever flash to a ROM without them, do you have to re-root?

yes it does
if you ever do, restore from nandroid. but any custom rom should have root. would be stupid if it didn't
This isn't a Froyo release is it?
5.0.8 is eclair, CM6 is Froyo (however it's not ready)

New version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528084
Hi,
First of all, sorry for posting this in general forum, but as you can see this is my first post...
This is a snapshot of my work on bringing camera support to Tezet's Milestone2 ICS port.
This build is not intended for daily use. The camera crashes when changing mode to video or panorama, and when exiting Camera app (though this is not visible ). But preview is working (as far as I know this is better than Defy), and I took ~20 photos in a row without problems.
Regarding the build itself:
- it's based on CM9 snapshot from Feb 25
- there's a bug with contacts showing as "Unknown" in the dialer (while you dial). As far as I know it is the same on latest Defy builds, so I assume this is an upstream bug from CM9
- it may contain more (or less) bugs from Tezet's builds. It's simply different, though I use builds from my branch since early January on daily basis
- the fix for SIM lock pin is not included
- it should be possible to load this without factory reset on top of Tezet's builds and the other way around, though the last time I've tried this was two weeks ago...
- there's no need to wipe dalvik cache - the update script does this
The work is based on Atrix ICS camera support, with added overlay emulation.
What is working:
- live preview
- zooming
- flash
- focus
- exposure compensation etc
- taking photos
- ... probably not much more
What is not working:
- panorama shots
- video recording
- a lot more
Would anyone be brave enough to check it?
I highly recommend to do a nandroid backup before trying it.
Latest version for phones with European GB kernel:
http://cm9-milestone2.googlecode.com/files/CM9-20120227-NIGHTLY-milestone2-eu.zip
Latest version for all other phones:
http://cm9-milestone2.googlecode.com/files/CM9-20120227-NIGHTLY-milestone2-ch.zip
If your phone is stuck on red Moto logo, it means you have chosen a wrong version and you need to recover your phone from the SBF file.
Repository:
repo init -u git://github.com/rondoval/android.git -b ics
All the credits go to:
- Tezet, for the Milestone2 port
- tpruvot, Quarx2k, for their tremendous efforts on Defy support (and thus Milestone2)
- whole Atrix-Dev-Team, Raviprasad V Mummidi, zivan56 for their tremendous work on the camera driver
Guess I missed this thread because it is in General Not your fault though.
I will test it as soon as I got some spare time. Sounds promising.
Thanks a lot for your efforts!!
What about bluetooth and wi-fi tethering? Are they working? I'm asking since they are working on Defy's GB kernel build.
And it would be better if some MOD can move this to DEV section.
Can we wait with that moving till I reach 10 posts?
I have merged some tethering code from Defy. Havent tested it though. I think I would have to use Defy's wifi driver, not CM9 default for that to work.
Bluetooth is not here.
sounds good !!
hmm.. so that you can respond to ppl. That makes sense.
I have installed it. It works fine. The camera starts and works as indicated.
One problem that everyone is going to notice first up is that if you make an outgoing call to a contact, the dialer shows unknown and all outgoing calls accumulate under 'unknown'.
And yes, there is no bluetooth.
Regarding the dialer: that's what I wrote about in the first post... I think it's the same on Defy right now.
Okay. I don't know about Defy but it is working on Tezet's ROM.
BTW, thanks again for porting the Atrix camera fix to MS2.
It's working on Tezet's build, but it's a month older. It was working on mine before I polled CM9 changes last saturday. I'll look into this.

Will be hoping that the wrinkles can be ironed out and we can have a better functioning CM9. And we may soon come out of ALPHA stage and move to BETA.
I noticed that there is no file manager in your build.
tested. camera working fine with preview and taking photo.
@sahilarora911:yep, there is no file manager...
This is really nice!
Did someone test mobile hotspot/wifi tether? if not would someone? ^^

Thanks for that but the option gets greyed out really quickly . It has to be done fast. Got it fixed.
The option you have to select is dialer/dialer settings/additional setting/caller ID/show number

Thanks, the way my call log looks was starting to annoy me Works here too, though I don't get why such a change.
I removed the file manager (and Torch I think?). The file manager is not included in official CM9 branch, besides I don't like it anyway
Camera works for defy with bayer module.
I have to add this to build.prop
ro.media.capture.flip=horizontalandvertical
BIG BIG THANKS

CM10 randomblame's Jellytime
CM10 civato's JB 4.1.2 FLEX v6supercharged
CM10 pjsports's rom
CM10 builds from wds :unmaintained
Jelly Bean Gapps:

Gapps full list.
Troubleshooting:
The unlocked ICS bootloader is required.
If you encounter an error during the flashing process use another recovery, TWRP is known to cause problem with this rom, a CWM based recovery should do it.
If you have problems with the Google Play Store after a bit, uninstall updates for it.
If you want to avoid the lockscreen bug, you can disable it in settings-security.
Report bugs & issues with your attached logcat in the development thread.
How to logcat?
I haven't tested all features yet. The only thing that does not work is face unlock so far.

runs really smooth this is awesome, but I can't get google play store to open, going to try and reflash GAPPS.
@lowsum, thanks for taking the initiative.
I will ask that you maintain the OP, providing some info ie FAQ, links for gapps etc
Will get a thread opened up in dev later today...
You guys may need to track down a better jb gapps package to use, I think the one listed in the thread is causing a lot of the reported issues...
Only issue...
Excellent start... so impressed!!
Only issues I have is with percentage battery not showing in status bar and an invisible slide on wake up. It works but can't see it... a little tricky but no deal breaker.
Huge congrats on a fine and rapid effort!
*EDIT* Odd... as if by magic, the slider is back! Only thing I think I tried was rebooting a few times AND turning off BOTH screen animations on wake / lock... Weird, but happy now!
My test results
Flashed CM10+gapps.jb.20120717. GMail and some other Google apps are not included and you'll need to get those separately from the Play Store.
SOFTWARE: Market apps did not auto restore; but all of them were able to be manually installed with no errors. I used ICSBrowser with Thor's ICS ROM...this app does not work in JB. GoogleNow, Netflix, and YouTube work great. Alternate launchers also work great.
HARDWARE: The rotation lock toggle doesn't work, but there is a quick setting option for that anyway. Sound works flawlessly. External Seagate 500GB hard drive works. Acer USB mouse works. Acer BT keyboard works. DSLR Controller works with my Canon EOS Rebel XT as far as reading the memory card; but cannot capture images which was no different in ICS. I could not get a GPS lock with GPS status nor could the Navigation app get GPS.
I have not tested any games yet. I'll load up some of my favorites tonight or tomorrow and report back.
THIS IS EASILY A DAILY DRIVER. Many many many thanks to WDS!

as for the hardware rotation lock, i need to port my code over. as my birthday is now over, i hope to have some time in the next week to do it.
@waydownsouth: My pleasure, I will maintain this thread no problem. That's the least I can do. Keep it up, it's working amazingly well already.
On my side GPS doesn't work, lockscreen sometime disappears and like most rom since ICS there's some screen flickering noticable on low brightness and dark color (kernel related I think). Battery percentage is also not showing in status bar. I had a couple of browser crash, but it was with Quick ICS Browser wich has been updated to support JB.

There's a lot of CM9 code still to be ported to CM10, things will get better as things go on.
GPS is still very broken, there have been some permissions changes in how the gps lib communicates with the native proprietary daemon... I have a workaround in mind, just need to get it implemented...

This is an awesome ROM! Thanks to everyone that has put work into this. Just to report on three issues I have found:
-Gmail app crashes every darn time. The app seems to be a hot mess.
-The unlock screen seems to go "invisible" after the tablet has been on for a while. You kinda have to guess where the button is and swipe.
-I use a bluetooth keyboard. Normally the touch keyboard goes hidden when BT keyboard is connected, but not in this AOSP ROM.
Thanks guys for the awesome work.
For a first build this is awesome! Even camera works!!
I'm using it as a daily.
I do have the following issues. (This is not a complain, I'm thoroughly impressed with this rom, this is just me reporting the issues i've experienced so far)
1) GPS doesn't work.
2) Gmail, calander, and Reddit is fun GP crash occasionally. Here is the gmail logcat: https://www.dropbox.com/s/taavl8kacv23q2z/gmail-logcat.txt
I think this is those same memory leak issues we had in the ICS rom.
3) after a while the lockscreen becomes "invisible", but still functions. In the mean time I just disabled it.
4) When importing photos from a DSLR into gallery over usb the new photos do import to the tablet but do not get added to gallery. It took an hour and two reboots before they showed up (no matter what i tried).
5) despite being set to "wifi always on" wifi disconnects during sleep
6) Plugging in a usb keyboard does not hide the onscreen keyboard
Awesome work fantastic rom!!

Tested the hdmi, audio is not working (it did in hc3.2)
My screen, after wakeup, is black after tab has been asleep for more than a minute. I have to press power button to restart tab every time. I have turned off animation for both on and off.
Thanks

Mouse Cursor
These roms are amazing. Thanks for bringing my g tab back from the dead. I just have one issue with this rom. When I plug in my usb mouse, the cursor is invisible. I can click and scroll with the mousewheel and the mouse does move around, I just can't see it. It is strange because it worked fine when I was using Smooth Bean.
I think I got a bit over board blacking out. Let me run through the framework.res and see if the pointer is white and change it to black.

No problem so far with Titanium Backup for me either. Try un-installing it then re-install. If still no joy try booting into CWM an d wipe cache and dalvik cache and while in advance fix permissions. I have been able to fix some app problems ln the past by doing this. This was used way back in froyo and gingerbread and some of the flashback roms.

Can you check if Talk with audio works? It is force closing on the DRH 5.2 JB. Chat with keyboard works fine.

YAY!!!! Can't wait to try it. Thanks.
Could someone test NOVA 3 or similar game. I am not getting the response to the controls like I did with Smooth Bean. Also, as I was testing it I was using BT and it kept cutting in and out. Could be related? I was having the same issue with YouTube and BT. Other than these two things, everything I have tested so far has been great.
Quick update. It was late last night when I tested NOVA 3 and BT. Today I tested the game without BT and the response was back to normal. So the only conclusion I can make is that intensive games and BT do not play well together. Also YouTube HD plays flawlessly without BT. I'm sure it can be fixed but that is above my level.

I dont have nova 3, but six gun works without bluetooth as well as deadtrigger and riptide gp. For youtube, I have way better performance with 4.0.23 and NOT 4.1.23.
Smooth vs Black
Just curious on the differences between this black jellybean and the smooth jelly bean?
The title page looks similar. This one i guess is cyanogenmod and the other based on teamdrh? I'd rather try the more stable one if anyone has a recommendation.
Thanks :good:

I re-read my post and found that I was not very clear. When I was talking about BT and NOVA 3 it was about audio going in and out not about using a BT controller with it. I was using the in app on screen controllers. Same with Youtube the video would stop and start or play in a very "jerky" fashion while the BT audio went in and out.

Just to let you know both Smooth and Black JB are both based off of DRH JB ROM which is yes they all three are Cyanogenmod 10. The Black JB was just me playing with the framework to see what I can do. The only thing is I am trying to find the color scheme on the time in the task bar. The more stable out of the three I would say Smooth currently. Black JB is still a work in progress. Plan on doing some launcher changes once I apply the same theme to it . The current one is taking up to much memory and is the root cause for the issues I am seeing. Smooth has Nova launcher which uses way less the same goes for Halo HD. Suggestion and feed back will be much appreciated since I don't do a whole lot with my device other then web stuff and the occasional angry bird.

Try changing the launcher to Halo HD or even Nova, they are a bit less heavy on memory. YouTube issues should be resolved just sticking with 4.0.23 ver. and not updating it through Google Play.

Today we got 4.1.2 leak, named N7100XXDLJ2. Post your opinion about this leak, what new features you have found, bugs and etc.
My first impressions: Stable, smooth rom, using as daily. Restored all apps, rooted and didnt got any FC.
You can flash cf root, cwm recovery- they are working fine.
New features i have found:
Brightness slider can be disabled
At camera settings you can ” Use the volume key as”
New camera mod “in low light” Improved quality of pictures which are taken in bad light enviroment
Notification bar can be edited
Ink efects with spen on lockscreen
Group cast, google earth apps installed by default
You can disable multiview
Improved swyping with samsung keyboard, something like android 4.2 keyboard swyping
Browser smoother, no more refreshes of bookmarks (still sometimes)
Browser feature- swyping, left or right sideline, up and down makes zoom in/zoom out
Improved stock music player widget while scrolling through the songs list. You wont see "loading" when scrolling up or down quickly like it was on 4.1.1

The ability to customize the notification screen is great, as it is possible to disable the brightness bar and chose what icons to show on the toggles menu as well as their order. Great feature, another one i used to mod just to get my most used features in there. :good:
All works fine, 3D games (NBA 2k12 & Need for speed Most Wanted and Virtua tennis tested).
Video playing is great, no failure even with 1080p mkv's :good:
Music playing, good but sound is a little crappy even with good headphones, need a lot of work with equalizer. I really don't know why doesn't Samsung provide good sound playing capability and equalizer on a € 700 phone.
Stability, so far it's been great, but it needs a couple more days to be sure. :good:
Overal impression - Very Good
If Samsung makes TW Launcher capable of grid size change I don't think i'll need change a thing on this phone.

If you open the flash application, go to local storage and "clear local storage", set allow local storage to "never" (with 2 gigs of ram you wont need it)
This should solve your browser crashing issues.

On browsermark the browser just closes. It does not force close with error message, it just closes itself at 3/4 of the loading process.
